This one is gonna hurt for sure, especially at the lower levels. Our little lodge often has to combine players from 1-2 and 3-4 to make a legal table.

Plus it seems (to me) like simply an attempt to reduce the amount of work that goes into a scenario while keeping the same price -- "shrinkflation" if you will -- rather than something intended to actually benefit the player base. Unless, of course, the benefit is avoiding a further reduction in the number of scenarios produced.

Either way...feels bad, man.

The higher levels are going to be hurting also. For example, right now if an 11-12 were released, I couldn't play it until I could find at least two new 9-10 scenarios to play, in order to get a character into range.

It feels like this needs some kind of tweaked mentor boon situation, where you can temporarily boost a character up a level to get into the level band of the scenario (maybe spending a couple of AP each time), so people can play with their friends, tables can be filled, and you can get past level ranges you don't have a character for. The GM would still only have to prep one band; the work for the adjustment would be on the player.

Not a fan of the level cap, or the other play differences to PFS2. I've always hoped that once we got to SFS2, the similarities to PFS2 would convince more people to try it, and we could get a larger player base. I'm afraid the differences will convince players otherwise.

You should have said the orc ancestry was now perpetually and irrevocably available.

Does the flickmace change mean a similar change is due for the Asp Coil? It is also a one handed reach weapon (although it does require a purchased boon)

Probably not intended but if a Druid have order explorer they get more than one focus spell with the Advanced Elemental Spell feat.

Advanced Elemental Spell needs to add a line that says either “choose one elemental order you belong to”, or “you make take this feat multiple times using a different elemental order each time”, or “you gain the spell for each elemental order you belong to”.

Order Explorer says “you are now a member of that order for the purpose of meeting feat prerequisites…. You don’t gain any of the other benefits of the order you chose.” That would seem to imply that you can use the new order as a prerequisite for AES and take the new spell. Hero Lab’s current behavior is an example of that; it lets you take AES once for each order you are in.

The argument against that is that is exactly how Order Magic functions, but the wording is completely different. Order Magic even includes this: “Special You can take this feat multiple times. Each time you do, you must choose a different order you have selected with Order Explorer.” Without that wording, I didn’t think you could take a feat more than once.

Based on what I've been seeing in the games I've played, this wording in the Earn Income section could use clarification:

"The Task Level of your Earn Income check is equal to your level – 2 (minimum 0) by default (GMs should check Table 10–5: DCs by Level on page 503 of the Pathfinder Core Rulebook to calculate the DC)".

The first sentence uses "level" for both Task level and PC level, and then says to look up "DCs by Level". I've had GMs use both task level (giving first level characters a DC of 14) and PC level (giving a DC of 15 at first level).

Those are nice improvements but what happened to making more playable content? As an experienced player I really only have the new scenarios to play, I already GM 3 to 4 times a month.
Check the second to last paragraph.

This is the best news in the entire article. Our local PFS play is struggling because it is becoming difficult to find scenarios that can draw a full table of people who have not played it yet.

Have the games for GenCon been announced yet? Origins registration is soon, and I want to make sure I have plenty of playable games at both cons.
