yes...while spells are indeed limited...they are not dealing less damage than a fighter.

For a single action at 3rd level...a mage can deal scorching ray 4d6 (or 14 fire damage...that can crit.

A fighter could deal with a great sword and 18 str (2d6 + 6) so 11. As I said originally above...about the same or more than a full-attack fighter of equal level.

Also...not trying to fight here. I just don't think its very fair, and I play mages more than anyone else in my group. (sorcerers, wizards, bards, clerics)

When people get into the fighter vs caster damage remember there is no more warlock in Pathfinder as opposed to 3.5. A wizard/sorc/bard/inquistor/oracle/cleric cannot continually blast with impunity each round or make multiple strikes like the other classes. Yes, scorching ray is good. Yes, if you critical with a spell it is silly. But, then again the range and outside modifiers on getting those planets to align is not as average as you'd think.

The major point of not needing Eschew Materials as a Oracle is most of your spells will have DF as part of it and an Oracle ignores DF as part of their casting ability. They are considered themselves to be the focus, so that whole section is kind of moot.

They really need a natural spell effect for the race without digits or hands to manipulate things.

Also, as one of my players on my table laments that Precise Bombs no does anything on a missed hit.

Today I noticed Pathfinder products at a Chapters store (in North York) for the first time, specifically the Core book, the Bestiary, and the Gamemastering Guide. (For those in the U.S., Chapters is the largest bookstore chain in Canada.)

Good to know that they've decided to carry some Paizo products other than Planet Stories. Maybe they started doing so a while ago and I just didn't notice, though. :-)

I was in Ottawa last weekend and saw copies of the Core book, the Bestiary and the Gamemastering Guide in the Chapters on Rideau Street. I keep meaning to drop into the Chapters in my hometown of Kitchener-Waterloo to see if they're in there as well.

They've had them for several months so far as I know. I have a friend who works for them and picked up a bunch of the books from their Downtown TO store.

Okay, so JB said the LG Pallies following Asmodeus not something he's a fan of. I'm still trying to figure out how to have Paladins in a Dark Sun campaign get powers from Arcane and Chaotic/Evil sources.

From the SRD...

Upon reaching 5th level, a paladin forms a divine bond with her god.

At 20th level, a paladin becomes a conduit for the power of her god.

If a paladin does not worship a god, then what god is she forming a divine bond with and what god is she a conduit of power for?

Wait are you saying that you can't play a male paladin as only female ones get divine bonds? Kinky.

so i was thinking, what cool tactics and schemes would you use to kill enemies without directly attacking them or going into combat?

poison would be too easy for this thread so lets forget about that for purposes of a fun discussion.

I hear dropping a castle on their head works.

My problem with it is when someone is Roleplaying far outside of their "Skill/Stat Block". Not that I'd want to penalize someone for actually role-playing instead of roll-playing if you have a 8 Cha Wizard trying to sweet talk or be civil thru the use of diplomacy and come up with the most pleasing or convincing statement I'd give them a bump to their roll. But if someone akin to a Bard/Noble tries to do something to the same affect I'd be more willing to just let it pass and take the fate of the fickle fickle dice gods out of it. It's all a question of if it feels right for the tone or the character.

4th: Acid Rain, Blast of Flame, Force Missiles, Orb of Cold, Orb of Electricity, Orb of Fire, Orb of Force, Orb of Sound

5th: Acid Sheath, Arc of Lightning, Ball Lightning, Boreal Wind, Firebrand, Greater Fireburst, Mailed Might of the Magelords, Sonic Rumble, Sonic Shield, Vitriolic Sphere

6th: Crushing Sphere, Entomb, Fire Spiders, Heart Freeze

7th: Ice Claw, Ice Castle

8th: Field of Icy Razors, Fimbulwinter, Lightning Ring

9th: Iceberg, Obedient Avalanche

There are such classic spells there that I've used in the past. Do I miss Sound Lance, Force Missiles and Firebrand.

That's the impression I got as well. If you are LN, but enforcing LE laws, well, you aren't really LN.

If they are enforcing LE laws along side LG laws they are still Lawful Neutral. Hellknights have been repeatedly referenced as the "Judges" from Judge Dread. I Am The Law... They are the epitome of the old Paladin viewpoint of Lawful stupid sometimes. They are filled with zeal for it.

LOL.

Although I actually was wondering if any of the archetypes/sub-domains/what-have-you changed armor proficiencies. Heavily-armored clerics. Lightly-armored fighters. That sort of thing.

I dunno about heavily armored clerics, but I'd imagine something like the Mobile Fighter could easily lose Heavy Armor Proficiency or even Medium Armor Proficiency and gain something in return to be more "mobile".

I'd leave them with Medium armour proficiency with having some level of armour mastery.

Someone please know where this is from.

Heartclutch from Book of Vile Dorkness... Yeah, it's far too broken and really really really evil...You had to have Soul Rot on yourself as a disease... The money one was Wrack making them helpless for Caster level Rnds then -2 for almost everything for 3d10 rounds.

The easiest fix I can see to houserule Whirlwind Attack is make it a standard action. As a full-round action it's very situational and only really works when you are getting swarmed by enemies and that's only if they go for you.

The rule for Hide In Plain Sight. Allows you to make the roll but not ignore any of the possible penalties for bad stealthing conditions. The negative modifiers will still be applied to the roll.

How do you make Half-Fiend/Half Dragon parts anything else? The absurd resistances + SR. Choose one template and stick with it.. Adjust things as needed. Any powerful gear or special abilities just make it in-line with something else...

Royalty, lord it looked good on me

after being royalty in Spain. Should I tell them, guys?
Tell us, King!

You see late one night when the palace was asleep
Out of my royal chambers and into the garden I creep
And I wait till the appointed time, when the moon is lighting the pitch
At which point my peasant friend, who looks just like me
Arrives and we make a switch
Prince and pauper, junior and whopper
World made up of silver and copper
Out of my own volition, I took a change of position
So next time you drool in the pizza line
Remember, slower pizza's more luscious
The King of Spain never rushes!!!

Once I was the King of Spain (now I eat humble)
I was looking for off-handed ways to improve us (now I eat humble pie)
I'm telling you I was the King of Spain (now I eat humble pie)
And now I'm jamming with Moxy Frvous! (once he was the King of Spain)

I'm an Oshawa-based gamer myself, and just picked up the PFRPG manual at WC. I was unfortunately in at a busy time, and so I couldn't get many details from the staff aside from that "yes there was a regular PF game at Worlds Collide, usually on Thursdays and/or Firdays." Where can I get some details about your group or schedule?

We are currently playing on Thursdays/Fridays we are averaging 4-6 players per table. Each week there are two of the same Scenarios being run so not to grind thru and play all of the scenarios at a super speed rate. Rules for the Pathfinder society stick as per the current 2.0 rules. Any questions about it as well please ask for either Cyril or Ross they will have more information on it in the store.
