GMPM - I think shaking things up by dropping us in Ravenmoor would be fine. Or short of that, you could wrap up the current scene quickly and take us back to town to bask in our success, or even fast-forward to us being on the road to Ravenmoor again. As you know, Trout has been absent from the boards, so we're down a player there. Not sure what's up with Karo, I see him around elsewhere pretty often.

"All right, then," says Morin, "let's collect all that we can carry of this stuff and get out of here. There was one more little passage near the opening to the lake. Shall we take a look at that, so's we can tell the folks in town we did a thorough job of it?" Morin begins moving back down the hall, his pockets bulging with ivory, gems and coin, and asks contemplatively, "Ye think we can climb back up with all this stuff? Or should we hire a boat again - maybe a different one - and come collect it that way? Pretty unlikely anyone's gonna come in and try to take it while we're gone, not knowin' Quarzoosher is dead an' all."

Well, at least you remembered something about us getting rid of the cart, which we did over a year ago, in this post.

Morin's eyes light up at the first couple of finds, and as they move down the tunnel, his grin grows until it spreads from ear to ear and threatens to circle around behind his head. "What a glorious hoard! We're gonna have to bring the cart from town for all this!" He grows a bit more somber as he considers where all the treasures must have come from, "That drake mother's brought a lot of folk back here for lunch, it seems, and we're only seeing the stuff from those who had money, never mind the poor sailors she took. I'm glad we've put an end to her, for the sake of those who live by the lake and those who live below it." Nitpick alert! GMPM - awesome treasure list, in terms of cool details as well as us getting some riches! One little thing: are the silver statues really three feet high and only 10 pounds? I couldn't help myself and I looked up the density of silver, and a cubic foot of the stuff weighs 654 pounds. Just wondering if one of the numbers you put up about them was a typo, or if we have a challenge ahead of us figuring out how to move the things. [/nitpick]

Morin picks up the beautifully-made rapier, drawing it from the scabbard with an admiring whistle and saying, "Gah, wonder who left this here? It's a beauty. Karo, this would suit you." He slips it back into the sheath and offers it to Karozekas. He then gestures at the main passage and says, "Shall we check out this tunnel, then come back and take a look at that smaller opening by the lakeside once we've checked out the lair proper?"

Morin joins Sarusa in listening down the left-hand tunnel. If she neither of them sense anything, he gives her a wink and a nod and slips down the tunnel as quietly as he's able, until he reaches the end of where he can see by Sarusa's light. Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Morin grabs hold of the rope and descends after Tekkis, saying, "Oh good, a passage. That sounds like a better approach than swimming into the murky water and seeing what we bump into." Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

"Wait, wait, wait! I thought we were going to use ropes to climb down? That way, we might even have a way back up," says Morin. He fixes a couple of ropes to the rocky protrusions around the hole, then says, "Okay, Tekk, lead the way."

Morin looks up in alarm at Corbyn's words. A thoughtful look crosses his face, though, and after a moment he says, "Okay. Who's got some rope handy?" He pauses and says, "Or we could all climb down together, I could anchor some ropes up here, and maybe Tekk could go first, since he can see in the dark. Or we drop a light down there first? What do you say, Sarusa? Make some of your magic light and toss it down there?"

I think we're failing to decide whether to go into the cave. I think we just killed the big, bad monster, and we should explore its lair. I would think that in-game and in a meta sense - we're adventurers, dammit, let's go adventure!

Morin stands looking at the writhing foliage, scattered drake guts and stinking, splattered blobs of goo for a long moment. He lets out a long, slow breath and says, "Now that was a hell of a fight. Everyone okay?" When the plants settle down, he'll collect his bow.

All - I will be on a work trip for the next two weeks (March 2-17). I will have internet access, and some time to check games, but may slow down a bit. Feel free to bot me if I'm holding up combat or otherwise impeding the flow of a game.

Morin calls out, "Tekk, get away from those things! If they were living inside Quarzookie, maybe they were controlling her, they could do the same to Tekkis! We've got to stop them!" He winds his sling up and lets fly, hitting a bit more forcefully this time. Sling: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 -4 if this counts as firing into melee

I'm not sure if I'm due for an action or if moving through the entanglement was mine, but just so I don't hold things up: Morin notes the fine mist that seems to float up from the carcass near the disgusting yellow blobs, and decides he'd best keep a distance. "Clo, Tekk, get away from those things!" He then draws his sling and a bullet from his belt pouch, loads it, and launches the bullet at the blobs. Sling: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 Morin manages to free himself from the grasping plant life, though he's so focused on getting free he leaves his bow on the ground behind him. He hasn't gone far when Qarxoosla's massive body crashes down and bursts apart, foul goo splattering everywhere. Morin can't help but stare at the writhing mass, causing him to notice two tiny, pulsating pustules, struggling to free themselves from the drake's remains. He points them out to his companions, saying, "Look! Anyone have any idea what those are? Should I go help them get free, or will they attack us somehow?"

Hey all - just a heads-up that I'll be leaving Saturday for a week of work travel, that will then become a week of personal travel, due to return on Feb 8. I will try to keep up on posting, but I will be pretty busy.

Morin is taken by surprise as the vegetation around him takes on a life of its own, and it grabs hold of him firmly. He's able to apply his years of experience wriggling out of trouble, however, and he slips free of the plants' grasp, then drops his bow and draws his swords. As he does so, he calls out to Tekkis, "Let's get on either side of her and improve our chances of surviving this!" Move action: Escape Artist to get un-entangled. Second move action: draw swords.

Reflex save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Morin manages to slip behind an area of particularly dense foliage in the bush where he is hiding, avoiding all of the disgusting, burning goo that the drakelings have spat at him and his friends. Evasion, results in no damage. He then takes a couple of quiet steps closer to the large drake, keeping well hidden within the bushes. He sets his blades on the ground and draws his bow off his shoulder, then nocks and shoots an arrow at the mother drake. 5-foot step one square south, then shoot at Qarxoosla from hiding. Stealth, if needed: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22 Shortbow vs flat-footed AC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Edit: Rats! Just realized Morin doesn't go for a bit, after putting together that whole post. Once my turn rolls around, I'll still aim to hit one of the drakes with sneak attack with my bow, targeting mama as a priority.

Happy New Year back at ya! On the actions front, Morin is still hiding, per my post, and waiting for the drakes to get just a wee bit closer before he reveals himself. And hoping that Sarusa's excellent entangle plan works.

I'll be leaving for a few days in the mountains tomorrow, back on New Year's Eve. I'm expecting limited connectivity and computer time, so will be pretty quiet until next year. Happy New Year to all!

We're not really in the positions we last moved to - we're a lot closer together than I think we were. And I don't have a bush to hide in. Both of which are bad with these flying things spitting acid down on us. Morin continues to hide, hoping the drakes will land and engage in a fair fight, or something that might be mistaken for one. I'm not optimistic about this. Maybe we should go back down the hole. But it is a lovely map.

Morin remains hidden in the bushes, wondering just what form the drakes' first attack will take - and if they'll survive it. Any chance of a token or marker of some sort on the map to show the drakes' positions? Makes it a lot easier to figure out what's going on.

Morin settles into his hiding spot in the bushes near the cave entrance, not sure which direction the mother drake will come to visit him and his friends. Hiding in the bush near Q63 - stealth roll from above was 26.

"I can hide in trees, Tekk. Sounds like a fine plan, and much better than fighting a drake in a tunnel, where I can't see and she can fill the hall with sticky goo and get us all. I'm off to the trees." Morin quick-steps it to the trees, giving Plod a pat as he goes by, and disappears into the trees. Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26

"Corbyn!" shouts Morin, as it dawns on him who's been shooting arrows around the tunnel and hollering about Plod. "It's great to see you! And I couldn't agree more, there is nowhere else to go but the exit! If they're going to get mama, we need to get out of here." The nimble halfling begins moving back up the tunnel as quickly as he can, in pursuit of the drakelings and the open sky. "We don't want to fight her back there over the water and under the bats, and we don't want to fight her in this cramped tunnel. I think we need to get back up to open air and fight her there. Come on!" To be clear, Morin is heading back the way they came, to the above-ground entrance to the tunnel. And he'd value everyone's company in going that direction.
