Thanks for the offer looks like you've got your hands full so I'll pass.

In any case hope you have a blast!

How about this?

Morganna the Kelishite Evoker

Modified the equipment and background accordingly wasn't sure if this would be fine.

Female Keleshite human female Wizard/Evoker 1st

"Okay but I really aren't much good at these sort of things," Morganna points out to Basil.

Strength checks aren't Morganna's forte!

Strength check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Just a reminder after tonight I won't be able to post until I can get my interent up and running at my new home which should be about the 25th or the 30th at worst case

"Better make sure the fox can survive long enough to recover from that trap before letting him go, Basil," Morganna points out.

"So we better head on to that tree, shouldn't we?" Morganna suggests to the others.

"Very good idea, Morganna. Let's take a look at that poor fox. Perhaps you can keep an eye out while I try to free him? You'd better stay here and keep an eye on old Josiah [defend], Burrow. Don't want to frighten the fox."

Basil turns to go....

Basil stops and looks at Josric incredulously.

"Josric, I was going to keep quiet, but you are allowing your kind heart to cloud your vision. This..." gestures towards the Hobgoblin "... this, mushroom stomper, just tried to kill us and, need I remind you, used an innocent creature as a lure for its own meal. I'm with Josiah. Kill it. It will attack us or betray us at first opportunity. I tell you what: I will perform a proper burial service for it, if that makes you feel better. Though the creature doesn't deserve it and we can't really spare the time."
Basil turns to Morganna.
"Shall we go, Morganna?

Morganna nods as she turns to head across to the trapped fox.

"I agree he's going to turn on us at the first opportunity, but I also believe he isn't the only thing lying in wait out here," Morganna whispers to Basil.

Morganna asks as she continues to point towards the fox.

The hobgoblin's eyes shift back and forth quickly. He opens his mouth a few times to answer, thinks better of it each time, screws up his mouth once or twice in a pained grimace, then says, "Can't let you get away and let the other humans know we're coming! Can't let them prepare defenses!"

Morganna tries an untrained sense motive check: 1d20+2: 14+2 for a total of 16 to decide whether the hobgoblin is telling the truth or just trying to stay alive

As the hobgoblin's limp form lies still on the ground, breathing shallowly, it would be a simple task to finish him off. Upon closer inspection, you see that he is wearing studded leather armor, now scorched from Morganna's blasts, carries a shortbow with several arrows, a longsword, and a small pouch at his belt. This pouch contains a silver necklace, three brass rings, and ten gold pieces.

You are now out of combat, unless you wait for the hobgoblin to fully recover from Morganna's spell. You each earn 120 experience points, and the gold value of the items you have found is 260 + the gear, if you want to sell the bow, longsword, and hobgoblin-worn armor. You have traveled about 6 miles today, and the sun is high in the sky, about to begin its descent.

"The bow will be useful if we run into any similar armed foes, I can only cast so much per day you see," Morganna leaning on her quarterstaff nods towards the gathered equipment.

"We need to get moving so we can reach this tree or Uzmilla's hut before it gets any later," Morganna muses.
"So say a brass ring to each with the necklace to one who doesn't take a ring?" Morganna suggests.

Don't have Detect Magic prepared, can cast either that or Identify later if we rest up again but not at the moment in case this is queried out of character

Morganna heads to AA-8 and casts a Colour Spray spell at the hobgoblin.

Rushing forward Morganna casts a spell up at the waiting hobgoblin hoping to catch it unawares.

Colour Spray has a 15' range and requires a will save to resist which when Morganna casts it has a DC of 14

Have found out that the last day I can post is going to be the 9th unless I find an alternative means of getting online it eill be either the 25th or the 30th of October before I can get back online

Female Keleshite human female Wizard/Evoker 1st

Morganna tries to swipe at the nearest bird attacking Josiah and then steps back to U-14 thinking maybe going into melee wasn't such a good idea!

Melee attack with staff is 1d20+2: rolled a 10+2 for a total of 12 which i don't believe hits and then moves before the bird realises she's an easier target!

Female Keleshite human female Wizard/Evoker 1st

Around the 19th of October I'll be moving home so I might not be able to post for a couple of weeks until I can get back online. This is just in case something happens in the meantime that prevents me letting you know closer to the time (Well that and my workplace has something against posting on the Paizo messageboards otherwise it wouldn't be a problem!)

Female Keleshite human female Wizard/Evoker 1st

Guess this is the wrong time to let you know as I'm moving home in the next few weeks (October 19th) i might be unable to post for a couple of weeks whilst getting access to the internet again?

Hope I can find an alternative in the meantime but I thought letting you know in advance would help.

Actually posted Morganna moving to J-15 last round, did I miss something about spellcasting that prevented her from moving?

If so she moves to J-15 this round and then onto P-15 (double move)

Female Keleshite human female Wizard/Evoker 1st

Morganna moves to J-15 and then repeats her previous spell.

"Oh I'm going to regret doing this!" she mutters as she pulls back the energy bow.

"Flare arrow!" she casts her second force missile at the same foe.

Range 110' does 1d4+1 damage: rolled a 3+1 for 4 damage on the hobgoblin

Force Missile 2 use of 6 until she rests

As you approach the wounded fox, something far off catches at Morganna's eye, a color that seems out of place in the forest. As she focuses in, she quickly realizes its true nature: A hobgoblin hides in a tree, and is aiming a shortbow at your party!

"Beware an ambush! Flare arrow!" Morganna yells as she brandishes her staff towards the waiting foe.

Force missile basically her evoker speciality acts the same as magic missile does 1d4+ Evoker bonus in this case just +1 has a range of 110' which by my count the archer should be within range, damage rolled: 1d4+1: 3+1 for 4pts to this archer she's spotted

Treating her staff as if she was holding a bow she draws back with her free arm as a glowing white "string" extends back and then she releases it as the gathered energy shoots out and past her gathered comrades and at some target beyond them and the trapped fox.

Personal Note: Force Missile 1 used of 6 until rests and yes I watch too much Slayers!

Morganna noticing whats caught the others attention takes a good look round.
"No offence but where there's one trap there's usually others, please be careful," she tells them.

Perception: 1d20+3: 16+3 for a total of 19

"So we set up a camp and continue in the morning," Morganna shrugged.

"So do any of you know a good campsite, easily defended and not likely to have wolves, witches or whatever else lurking out there looking to introduce themselves during the night?" she asks.

"And treasure, so who followed this Droskar anyway when you say skilled craftsmen did you actually mean human after all usually when you say skilled then its usually dwarves thats involved?" Morganna adds thoughtfully.

"Anyway which is closest Uzmilla's hut or this tree?" she asks.

"That monastery may hold more things than just wolves, Basil do you know anything about the past of this area and by that I mean both this forest and that monastery?" Morganna asks curiously.

Would Knowledge/Arcane or /Local still apply for such a check?

"Yes I got the same advice from the Eagle Knights that accompanied me here," Morganna nodded.

"So how much should we be expected to carry and by that I mean how long should we plan on being out there after all getting those herbs back here suggests we shouldn't be planning on staying too long out there ideally," she adds thoughtfully.

If you mean this by different colour

Then look down at the bottom of the screen you use for posting there should be a section saying "BBcode tags" you can use right beneath the "Post as" bit.

Press that and it should show up the bit you want to know about, there's also a bit about spoilers too but if you mean entirely different colours then I haven't yet found out about that one.

Oh and I've tried invisible castle but got into difficulty using it which is why I've been using d&d online dice roller and Online dice roller.

Will keep on looking for one more suitable though.

Sorry for the delay

Morganna blinks at basil's remarks.
Up to this point whilst inside the herbalist's shop she's been gazing around as if entranced.
"Oh, OH sorry, first time here,

Profession Herbalist: 15+6 for a total of 21 on the ingredients and if allowed a Knowledge/Arcana on the places Laurel spoke about: 15+7 for a total of 22 specifically that keep she mentioned

"Black scour? So this is because of some mold or fungi introduced to the drinking water? Is there any chance if the clergy or Basil here purifies the water that will reduce the number of people effected at this stage?" Morganna asks.

Female Keleshite human female Wizard/Evoker 1st

"Ooh a druid?" Morganna openly queries.

Noticing the others she blinks and looks around.

"Sorry my name's Morganna, I'm a herbalist by trade and was visiting here along with some fellows with an interest in trade. When I heard about this and that you had someone working on a remedy naturally I came along to see if I could help," she explains although most aren't listening.
"So its not a curse at least not magical, is there anything you've heard about that might be the cause of a natural based ailment causing these sort of symptoms?" she asks the person she thinks is a druid.

Female Keleshite human female Wizard/Evoker 1st

This will be the first time I've seen psionics used in a game since 1st edition!

Except when I used psion-monks in a 3.0 kingdoms of kalamar game as an npc foe, so this should be interesting indeed!

Make me a Knowledge/Arcana check.

Several of the townsfolk in line look back at Josiah in consternation, but otherwise do not draw attention to themselves. As Morganna studies one of the inflicted townsfolk, you all see two other figures approaching who do not seem to have contracted the disease.

Sorry missed that first bit got a natural 20 on the Knowledge/Arcane for a total of 27, bet I'm going to wish I had that later on though!

One of the men, clad in grey, drab garb, moves to the back of the line, stoically glances over you and the townsfolk, sighing at the length of the line. In a voice of tumbling gravel, he says,

"All I need is an un-GU-ent. For my corns."

"Ah for your feet, right?" Morganna glances down at the newcomer's feet.

"Now how did that old desert remedy go?" she looks thoughful as she tries to recollect her mentor's advice on feet problems.

Does this qualify as a Heal check? If Profession/Herbalist applies then Morganna got a total of 17 however if its strictly Heal then its untrained for a total of 13 but if you need Invisible Castle links I've never been able to get that to work so you may as well roll for me if that makes things easier

"Of course!" beams Morganna.

"It must be really trying times for your faith and all, mind if I ask you some questions regarding this matter, as a wizard the curative arts aren't my forte but I am by profession a herbalist and came to see if I can lend a helping hand after all I'm sure this Laurel of yours could use all the help she can," Morganna frowns.
"So," she says in a much lower tone.
"Curative magics don't... work?" she asks Josric sounding a little stunned.
"Could this be the result of magic or a curse?" she asks in a even quieter voice as if having difficulty believing such a thing is possible.

Would this be a Spellcraft check or a Knowledge/Arcana check to discern whether a natural ailment could be so resistant to divine healing or whether this could actually be the result of either a curse or some foul magic?

Perched at the edge of civilized lands, the small town of Falcon’s Hollow has always had to rely on itself to solve its problems. Meanwhile, the uncaring lumber barons squeeze the common folk for every last copper, deaf to their pleas. Now the hacking coughs of the sick are heard throughout town. The plague has come to Falcon’s Hollow and the town’s leaders can’t be bothered to stop it.

Part I: An Elusive Antidote

It's been nearly a week since the first cases started coming in. Wheezing and coughing townsfolk, both young and old, have been brought down, some even laid low, by the ailment. Several dozen have contracted whatever this is, and while the local clerics have been powerless to do anything about it, a local herbalist named Laurel has, reportedly, been treating the infected from her store.

Creeping ivy and full window boxes cover the façade of the rugged-looking, two-story shop
bearing the faded sign “Roots and Remedies.” A line of twenty-some somber townsfolk—some with pale, wheezing children, others seeming to be precipitously near tears—stretches from the open door. It looks like you'd be there for an hour if you waited in line, but there seems to be little choice.

"Hi there, I assume she's in?" Morganna greets those waiting warmly.

They turn to stare back at her with suspicion in their eyes at the sight of the Kelishite wizard who blinks back her humour undampened by their sour expressions.

"So any chance she needs a hand?" Morganna asks brightly.

"I'm a student in herbalism so I was wondering if an extra pair of hands might help her preparing this remedy of hers?" she explains but apparently to deaf ears as the locals are somewhat less than exuberant at the sight of an outsider asking if they need her help.

"Okay I'll wait, so... why haven't the local church intervened? I mean surely they have the pull to call in some of the respective champions of their faith, right?" Morganna asks now even more curious.

"You talk too much," one of those waiting sourly points out.

"Yes I do, but then I was never any good at that bardic thing you see," Morganna nods back completely blind to what they weren't saying.

The waiting crowd turned to pointedly ignore her as Morganna sighed.

~Oh well she thought, maybe if I wait a bit I might actually meet this famed herbalist of theirs~ she decides.

Reduced encumberance by virtue of removing a couple of items so shouldn't be medium encumbered.

Well here's hoping for tomorrow!

Right updated hope this is okay!

Josric wrote:
Yeah, it doesn't look like that'll be easy, even while your bonded item is non-magical you'll need to roll a 16+ on the die. Once you enchant the staff, it's not possible at all.

Still going to give it a try, swapped out Toughness for Combat Casting thinking of replacing Arcane Strike with either Eshew Material or Point Blank Shot or maybe Magical Aptitude and go for the Evoker speciality with Necromancy and Enchantment as opposition schools.

Its a one shot so it will be interesting to see what happens, still haven't finished that thread but still might have to swap the traits as part of the back story for the reason Morganna is in Falcons Hollow though.

With combat casting that puts it up to +8 so a 12-13 needed when without the staff and I was thinking switching one magic trait for the one that grants a 0th level spell but thats Charisma based and devotee of the green grants a +1 bonus to 2 knowledge skills but unless I swap out Perception and Knowledge/Local it doesn't feel viable.

Better get back to the character generation then!

What the heck at least I can try this out even if I don't like what they've done to the Concentration and bonded item anyway!

You did say play something you'd normally would't and this certainly counts!

Still reading through the thread I found on the subject and I figure this is as good a place to test the waters so to speak!

I really want to see if this works, I have this idea of having Morganna casting Mage Hand to summon her staff to her hand... need to see if it applies and how this is covered by that of the Apprentice ability I've been hearing about...

Still busy designing, but looking to pin down the wizard role!

And usually I play a cleric, paladin, ranger (two currently), rogue, have tried a Vudrani dwarven mage but that game folded so thought let the dice roll and see where they fall!

Keleshite wizard... still there's that trait web thingie to check up on though!

Owch! Just been rereading the Concentration mess, had this idea of having my wizard using her quarterstaff as her bonded item and then using the arcane strike to do more damage with it, but either I sacrifice the Toughness feat to gain Combat Casting or switch to Familiar so I can avoid that problem but then why keep Arcane Strike? Yeesh sorry if any of you were reading this wild and changing paragraph trying to figure out what to do guess a separate post is needed!
