rolls

Look, please feel free to NPC Milos if you like - I'll do what I can to hand over the character.
A new PC is a very kind offer, but I would prefer to move on rather than be reminded.

rolls

Guys,
I'm going to drop out.
I like how deep the world is, and how Herkymr has incorporated ideas into the setting - but I've lost this character. I've been running into mental blanks for weeks about how to write his post, I did find the information I needed about the world, but I just can't get "into" the character's head any more. He's turned into someone quiet, and moody, and stereotypical. I was down to looking through old posts just try to remember what he looked like.
I know there was more in there when we started, hidden underneath - but I've lost it :(
I really hope the game goes well - with the effort people are putting in, it deserves to.
Sorry for letting you all down.

rolls

Aha! You're the man!

rolls

Sorry all,
is RealmWorks working for anyone else?
I've been trying for days to log in and got nothing.
I've been sick and my internet was dodgy, so I thought it was me, but those should now be fixed.
I didn't want to respond to the question without rereading all the Order stuff. :(

rolls

Milos does not have healing abilities any more, I'm afraid.
I'm therefore inclined to suggest that a large proportion of the group funds should go on healing items.

rolls

Milos' eyes tighten, as his gaze flickers around the room. Finally they come to rest on the Lady in Green.
"That was rather a lot of tests, madam. I begin to wonder whether our 'delivery' is one such as well - and what would have happened to us if we had failed."
His tone is suave - but there is an undercurrent of anger to it.

sense motive dc 20:
His eyes spent longer on one particular corner of the room

rolls

will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

rolls

Milos blinks in surprise, silently mouthing a string of profanity. Holding his horse by the reins he drags it through the wall.

rolls

Milos finally gets his horse quietened - no easy task when almost all the commands are verbal - and dismounts.
Carefully he looks around - obviously missing Quinten's calling out, then stops with one hand on his horse, closes his eyes, and breathes in strongly through his nose. He analyses what he smells, then tries again and again.
perception. take 20 if possible, otherwise: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

rolls

Can Milos hear Quinten? I thought not.

rolls

I'm afraid I'm going away in 20 hours, and will be away for three days. Please bot me if needed as I do not think I will have internet.

rolls

Partly. Partly because I couldn't see a way we could check it out safely without letting the archers set up for perfect shots. Partly because he's a cavalry man, and when the situation is confusing... CHARGE!

rolls

I feel bad that I'm sort of pushing people here. Plan is to now rush forward. Is everyone good with that? Hopefully Quinten can buy us a round.

rolls

My bad. In which case let's assume so - and it is the chest with the spell that is going to go well.
"Hurry up man. She won't wait forever!"
"On 3 then... 1... 2..."

rolls

Milos sighs as he surveys the building. Quietly he comments "Apparently this quest is going to get me killed. Still, my word is my bond. By all means check this is the place, as it is equally possible we have been led here in an attempt to get me killed."
wait, isn't the chest on the horse? I thought it was "the chest on the disc is the way of great risk, the horse with the chest is the way that is best." Or was it "the chest on the horse is the riskiest course, the chest on the spell and all will be well."

rolls

Milos looks at Quinten appraisingly
"I'm surprised you know it. I'd like to hear that story."

rolls

"The enemy of my enemy is my ally." Milos agreed, bowing slightly in the saddle "It would be
a regrettable conflict. May your family grow, and your hunting be good."

"Well met, Kendrick." Milos states politely to the gnome.

Once away he nods to Quinten "Well spoken - and reasoned. That could have gone quite badly. Cityfolk are far harsher than I had thought."

rolls

I'm okay with it. I like the PFS system, max HP on first level, then half-round-up for each level.
So a barb would be 12+7 at 2nd level.
Means you don't get the crazy "wizard has more hp than fighter" situation, but also doesn't make for endless combats.

rolls

init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

rolls

Should I be using these update rolls on the first round, rerolling, or waiting? Currently I figure waiting - the kids might run.

rolls

Milos sighs in response "We're in a hurry, and we don't have time to play word games with cannibals. Let's kill them." He draws his sword and readies his shield as he talks.
guess I'm initiating combat... Do we use rolls on this?

rolls

Everything snaps together for Milos. Could they be...

"Are you" he asks, carefully "Formally offering to extend full hospitality to my companions and I?"
Herkymr:
we had previously established hospitality was a very big thing for the infected

standard first action:

If enemy is far away Draw long bow and shoot. Back away.
if there is not area, and enemy is closeDraw longsword and shield. Attack. Let horse attack.
If there is area, and if enemy is closedraw lance and shield, move out of range: Back up and prepare
If there is area, and If enemy is close, and ready Lance and Shield. Ride by attack. Charge, attack, keep moving: Harrying attacks

wounded:

Largely irrelevant how wounded.
His preferred style is harrying. He should be running around and attacking then moving on, so enemy cannot attack back.
if his horse is at less than 50% he’ll go further away and shoot, giving it time to heal. It’s a pain waiting for it to regenerate.
If there is a break in combat he’ll feed, if he can.

choice of targets:

Positive Channelers first, then ranged troops, then fast troops, then infantry.

Music: in combat Nine Inch Nails: the Perfect Drug
Music: out of combat Queen: Princes of the Universe

rolls

Milos rode astride his enormous, leather-barded horse. It moved easily under him with a good gait, but there was something wrong about it. There was a smell of injury, as if the poor creature was rubbed raw under the all encompassing hard leather armour. Mercifully, there were no flies.

Milos grabbed his reins when the children appear.
"Easy boy." he states, needlessly.
Can't let it feed here.

rolls

"No, not a horse, as such. But in the right light it might pass as one."

rolls

"Or we could take my steed" offers Milos - though there is doubt in his voice. A second later he nods "Yes, we should take my steed, if something might attack us."

rolls

@Thaliak: I think it's a perception/knowledge thing. He's certainly able to blend in well enough to fool normal folk, but that is something heroes seldom are.

rolls

"I am." Milos nods politely

rolls

I like it - as long as Milos can be polite.

rolls

Milos sighed and opens the bottle, a wispy cloud floating out to engulf him, then evaporating.
He sighs again, the sigh of a hard pressed man and looks at Mang
"Family problem." he apollogises "I need to introduce myself by third shadow today. Down by the docks. I'll follow your lead, but I am already accused of rudeness - so I do need to turn up."

rolls

"It offered hospitality. That places certain constraints on my behaviour."

rolls

Sorry to hear that. Take the time. I hope that this doesn't impact the new job too much.

Quote:
What is it I wish? I wish I could go back to those from whom I came with enough power they will cower before I destroy them. You should know what that feels like feeder of men. You and I are more akin than these others. Join me and we shall make this city writhe in our grasp as we bleed its wealth into our coffers. Brother?

It knows what I am, but it doesn't know what I am. Milos realised something much like me - perhaps. But to this thing the respect of others is more important than power. Perhaps even more important than survival. Just how much of what it says is bluff and posturing, and how much of what it does is a trick. Did it take out the Kobold because it could, and spare Mang because it was worried it couldn't?

"That is an honest answer, and I one I can respect. But I am bound to a different goal I am afraid. To fail it is death." He shakes his head sadly.

rolls

Milos was all too used to being surrounded by more powerful creatures that might kill him an instant. Even he found the destruction of the little half-dragon unsettling in its apparent randomness, as well as in the power it demonstrated.
Was this thing "Covenant"?
"What do you want?" he asks, politely.

rolls

I responded by email.

rolls

"Miloș." He looks at Mang Fu Hu Saan and back again "Miloș Blackwolf. I am from the north - though a different north to Mang Fu Hu Saan."
"I have been sent to help stop this ecological apocalypse that is devestating our lands. You?"

rolls

I have to say Mang's Iron and Gold make a lot of sense for the first 2.
As for the third, Nature makes sense, as does Time. Entropy/Decay seems like the kind of Time we're talking about (assuming a fantasy world obeys physical laws)

rolls

"That suggest Marry was complicit. I would be very disappointed if that were so."

rolls

Good luck!

rolls

The moment he leaves Milos turns to Shadara
"What" he asks calmly "The Mirror was that?"
bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Sense Motive dc 17:
He is not calm. Not calm at all.

rolls

Sounds good - I'll use the stats I had!

I actually heave heard one of those riddles before... must... not... answer...

rolls

Yep. Gonna die. ;)

rolls

will?: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Given he just entered the room, Boy blocks only exit, right?

rolls

Milos raises an eyebrow, but otherwise remains unmoved. Instincts screamed at him not to show weakness.

rolls

You moved man, totally fair. You gave warning. I just figured the game was a bit on hold.

I'm good to go, but if you need a bit longer that's fine too.

rolls

That's good :)

rolls

Or cleric? Shouldn't be too late for Milos to change, and the group could use a dedicated healer.

rolls

"Huh." Milos grunts when Jerram walks in. "I thought that was a metaphor."
