OOC- Family Guy Episode Osama Bin Laden "God I hope I get it..."(LOL) -Sorry

Noted Alwen

So Sharice how many games have you actually played by post before?

Thanks Sharice Again!!!

I actually did do that for that post but not spotting my typing error I just made a sad face. (Like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman trying to work her opera glasses, I figured my posting ability was "broken" (LOL)

I think this a bad idea. Doesn't this same website have contests based on this exact same creative theme? Create a new magic item, create a Cleric variation, create a villian? Withthatsaid, I'm in!!!

I would help a writer fill in the gaps if they had writer's block, but only the bold would give intellectual property away, have we learned nothing from the creators of Penny Arcade? You guys are taking a big risk when you could get movie deals if you are really that good.

Matt, more power to you, I just want to try this knowing that my confidence to help others is beyond conceit.

I don't know what a dot is exactly but "dot" nonetheless.

Thanks Sharice

OOC
Thanks [spoiler=Jaq] That was very helpful, I'll just make a reference guide for myself [/spolier]

Wow, epic fail...I was trying to put Jaq on the button and the text was to be revealed if you pressed the Jaq button?

OOC
(Apologies) It should read -Attack rolls, I’m thinking that if you preview your posts (obviously I didn’t)
(Last Change) plunges quickly into the contructed boat barrier. Should have read it plunges quickly into the constructed boat barrier.

OOC- Alwen would you practice post with me for just one battle?

"Iceberg Dead Ahead!!!"
The trail of an assassin always leads to a "dead" end. (Chapter 2)

The Ever-Dark Sea was home to General Ghost and the feared undead militia of his Army of Doom. A Castle with an infamously powerful Necromancer was on the horizon (The Tainted Tower), as a horn of chaos blew to announce that the "Cargo" was finally here.

The chain of indentured servants, bought and paid for, by the savages of the Isle of Forever Night, are being prepared to be paraded in a procession of pain to the Docks of Undeath, but with the cue of a clumsily dropped key, Alwen the Wet-Elf springs into acrobatic action emerging from below deck into an eerie fog, sickened and sore, but ready to lead his comrades anywhere away from these arctic slavers.

The elaborate Docking piers are a mazery of wood and shadow. The zombie executioners take great pleasure biting neck after neck and then leaving the piles of new recruits ready to rise in the Dark morning Dawn just minutes away. The SS Minnow (sorry), your current vessel seems last to have arrived in an Armada of Betrayal as the ruthless treaties have been ignored as the crews are slaughtered as well in great karma for their roles in tripling the ranks of the Frozen Forces of Fear.

After bracing against the Winter Wind and removing his blindfold with a curse that turns to misty smoke, the keen Elf sees floating platforms buoyed twenty feet below with a hull-ripper apparatus designed to bite approaching vessels and a glimpse overboard spots an icy graveyard that sways with the tide. The water is easily on the edge of freezing. The smoke from the shoreline touching snow-capped forest screams indigenous inhabitants, but what route, what road? Body piles and under piers provide plenty of cover but swimming would be suicide. A platform leap might be the quickest escape but even the rope ladders blowing in the winds seems to laugh at the living. Life boats oared past the center of mayhem in the darkness, might help a team slip to shore using stealth, but having been separated from his trusted allies, he may be

“their only hope” to freedom, if he chose wrongly, he may face them yet again as undead avengers mindlessly unaware of their recently distant past.

"We’re are all dead!" Mumbled as a free action, as the slaver crew set to grapple the elf drink in the scene as if they were sipping a warm poison, that at second glance was listed as "Extra=Healing" on it's face.

With the dead body of the Captain slumped over the mainwheel holding the vessel impressively at ramming speed for the chaos. (Make a Profession Sailor Check for me) You know that your speed just might work to your advantage. Hard to Port clears the docks and evades the zombies all be it that the ship will sink in minutes with a gape the size of the last city you can remember drinking in, Battening down Full Sails may roll you deck to bottom but in icy waters, you know a bit of luck might produce a sliding effect that although miraculous at worst might be a landmark way of parallel parking that won’t really be appreciated for a few millennia. Diplomacy, Bluff, Acrobatics, Profession, Attack rolls, I’m thinking that if your preview your posts all of your rolls will let you interpret success until you need interaction between a zombie.

It's time to call your actions and make some rolls for each idea before I would have posted counter actions
***********************Spolier Alert**********************************

Please Pause and then post- I will never spoil the action again, I just wanted you to know the scene and I'm not sure if the features of the area are clearly presented like the vessel details(Medium sized warship with canons long oars and huge sails) or the time of day (Always night) Does that paint the appropriate picture in your mind descriptively? The weather is wintery cold (-10 degrees F), and the sea is rough and choppy as the boat moving x4 cruise speed (Full Impulse) plunges quickly into the contructed boat barrier.

You might have gone a million ways here...(Opposed Perception as you use Stealth etc.)

This DM stuff would be hidden (If you can teach me the hide box code please I can make my posts seem shorter)- I’m not sandboxing your actions. I just want to be able to give you at least a few options but if you freestyle I’ll be happy and eager to be receptive and reactive.

Your Diplomacy +10 if you sound authoritative in your roleplay--- Bluff is at a -2 because they were your slavers just seconds ago and they are super suspicious and still very hostile even though dying from a crash is a bigger threat.

Sense motive for the crew
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17
Negative reaction they do a religion check to pray.
1d20 ⇒ 11 (The smoke from the inland village seems to form a whisp of smoke shaped vaguely like a scimitar.
Acrobatics to leap up to take control of the vessel is an easy DC 10
The crew has expert sailors in these waters and their orders will be followed with great effect
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
DC 15 to perform any cool maneuver +20 if you thought to drop the anchor first- Please tell me if you did, as I don't really know the physics of a boat moving in deep water, this fast, nearing an island of ice.
Their ACs are 10 and they try to swim for it if you attack them.
10 men and one parrot in total after they clear the decks
Swim checks x10 crewmembers
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
They smear impressive amounts of greasy whale fat essence on themselves but…
They die in 5 rounds if they can’t make the barricades
Strength check for loosening the row boats is DC 20 but there is only room for 20 souls 10 passengers in each boat total

The zombie Perception check at first (-40) initially it will not be high enough to spot your escape.
You will have 5 rounds before impact. Your team has been drugged but are all still alive down below you can rouse two members each round and if you do not complete this task each round after round 5 the zombies get +10 more to notice you. If/when they do notice you they let the boat crash in round 10 and swim with a DC 20 Swim check to attack in the water suffering no ill effects of hypothermia. Non-Zombies entering the water does 1d6-2 each round subdual damage plus an additional DC 12 Fort save must be made or you will suffer an additional 1d6-2 subdual damage in the chilly swill. It takes 5 rounds to swim to shore, 2 rounds if you went Hard to Starboard.

OOC
So Alwen, in battles are you swashbuckling your butt off diving into the sails with a dagger, disarming for the rapier, then swinging back to the other ship with the pretty Sea Witch in tow? Talking pirate smack like in the Pricess Bride, "Hah, you actually thought I was left-handed for a minute there didn't you!" (LOL)

OOC

I see about 28 or 29 Avatars (I'm represented twice)

Lilly chose to reserve her posts until we had a DM, chosing a party will be a very hard decision.

I think we "have the players". I'm an emotional hoarder so I like the clutter of a failed attempt for a traditional start on the board. It gives evidence that the DM bailed on us and never had the courtesy to post that fact. His name is not a point of confusion it's a warning to paizo that some sort of ettiquitte needs to be established. If we start a new thread then the Groundhog Day effect will be repeated.

I vote for Alivia to be our DM, I've made a command decison from a position of so much time being wasted. I don't care about Oligoplies and I think that posting after me that you could "try" to DM with no skills is not what I can trust either.

If she doesn't want to DM, I'll do it and I will do it in 100% learning as I go-mode. I immediately knew that you guys were talented, this all feels like an episode of D&D Survivor, so I know that the other guy just wants to solidify his position by running it, but that was what I did before you.

Now I would leave all decisions up to Alivia. Even if she kicks me out, I would still help her as a "fan" of the board. I have time to look up rules and I'm experienced at giving rulings. I could help recap to players who miss a week and when the DM is ready we can switch to a squeaky clean untouched clutter-free board but my hope is that we don't recruit after Friday. I think that anyone of us could do this, but only a few of us can dedicate whatever it would take to do it right.

Alivia doesn't need my vote, but she has it, and I hope she gives me hers.

Jaq Wrote: It kind of sounds like you're more interested in playing though. GM'ing isn't a job and should be fun. Now, I'd do it if you're willing to let someone who has been playing for 2 years, but only owned the book for six weeks run. PbP's are kind of forgiving because they're slow. And, well, I've done it before with Exalted, and that was a pirate adventure as well. I like pirates, and ninjas are welcome. Zombies can walk the plank!

I'll just have to agree to disagree, but how will we select the particpants and are we doing the Module? I'm thinking that you can frestyle a Pirate game and it will be more fun then anything that has been prewritten.

***OOC*** It falls to me then, when we were first starting to play, no one wanted to DM and we had numerous roll offs to shun the responsibility. I feel that some of us should never DM. I just DMed the Black Waters PFS game yesterday after playing in it as a player last November, and my DMing style is all about Old School preparation. I can freestyle and address backgrounds like was suggested before but my problem would be logically and fairly selecting the party of participants. I know if I had all of your patience and help, I could give us a year of gaming and we would end up right back at this tavern about 15 levels later. As a Reasonable Person, I suggest that we avoid the module and save the routine for maybe the same characters in a flashback prequel. I just hate players who read ahead, just so much, and then save the Dragon from the Princess, when they could have easily realized the right decisions by normal plot cues and room descriptions.

I am also realizing that Alivia out ranks me in this field, not by experience, but by common sense. I do not feel new to this game at all, I play everything, and I know that my confidence and intelligence demands that I create some sort of checklist. I could establish a Friday Deadline. Everyone who gets on the boat can play, if you don't feel the inspiration, thank you but no thanks.

I am not here to push anyone away no matter how hard that makes it for me. I do consider this a job, your entertainment and passion for fun is a great undertaking no matter how we put it. I have been an organizer for a club of about 400 for 5 or six years now but I'm not mentioning my resume ever again. I know Alivia is the best person for this task, I can help with the rules and the spells, but the (D&D Google, that is the PRD is the bible that RAW earns it's merit from. I was asked yesterday if a Zen Archer could use perception to find traps and I stated no, that only a thief ( I hate mispelling Rogue everytime so I use thief) or something like a ninja can use perception in this way, but I looked it up and the only wording I could find was "Creatures". But there were really no traps there anyways. As a DM, I could have cranked the DC due to lighting and wet murky floor conditions but technically and ultimately I was wrong but my ruling stood, and they were right to play the Necropolis scared. If they hadn't of had a Samurai in the party roll a natural twenty after he was below zero hit points, a pregen mind you, they would all have been killed. It would have been the second TPK in a row, as we play about 3 to 4 games , two to four tables, a week. I reread the Samurai resolve rules and the first bite killed him, the second attack, a claw, put him down, and the third claw, definitely put him somewhere other than Golorion, but with all of the ability damage on failed saves his last staggered attack with Strength and Dex damage and knowing that in 24 hours he would raise as an undead creature he rolled a natural "20" and it was an epic "In your face DMFrank!!!"-moment and it was why I love this game with all of my heart. My name is "Tony" by the way.

As an option, I could get the Shackels module and ask Alivia to pick five or six players for me and I'll do the game as advertised. I did not think that I was going to get picked anyways, but I know that with a larger group to start, the competition would be to survive. I would address each backstory in tandem when possible but realistically one theme as a major focus until the next hook can be introduced with secrets and reveals as well as possible. I think that the constant threat of dying screams for 9 Undine or Sylph Clerics, both races I need to reread. I manage adventures very well, I feel that the fate of the dice can be brutal sometimes so it's up to you guys if you think that I'm too hardcore. I think optimism will only get you so far. I know the treasure rewards cold, but fast track leveling is going to keep me on my toes so send me wish lists per level and please don't cheat becuase I trust that you guys understand that I won't feel the need to master every class this year. I know why DMs hate Summoners, but it's silly when I see a tournament table full of Monks or all chose Gunslingers. Now don't get me wrong, Monks in the Ruby Phoenix module makes loads of sense, but in this game, if you wanted to be a Ratfolk Wizard using Stink Ink so people literally smell like "Losers" I'd beg that we treat it like a Society game where there is never any player versus player, but I'd welcome a Democratic vote of the "selected crew" to be of evil alignments or not.

Going "All In!" with the Alchemist Fizz-sized poker tablets, "I am a healer you know?" "Hangovers are now an endagered species Ladies and Gentlemen!" The Bar forms a men and ladies line and we all do the Buckaneer Booty Boogie- Line Dance. Left Right Dip Dip, now use your Hip Hip, Kiss your partner on the Lips Lips, Booty Booty, Turn (Everybody Now!) Left Right...

Eyes glazed in excitement "Yes you two, do give us a dance?" Tank clears the area from the bar to the kitchen entrance with an intimidating glance. One-Thumb, the Fiddler, instructs the tavern to clap with a lively rant, the mood goes from grand to epic with the anticipation of the Whiskey Waltz.

Tank pauses becuase he initially forgot to turn in a counter clockwise motion as a display of sexual prowess, but he is sure that he might get another opportunity if his past experiences serve him right. He now must choose to be an Alpha or Omega within the first impression phase or he will not be entitled to the most females mature enough for procreation. With his decision made, Tank will allow the big-chested Elf to dominate the most aggressive females, and he will use humor and self-injurious based comedy to woo the other more intellectual mates, who decide that pirates less desperate for attention, are probably less likely to be overcompiensating for certain physical and personality flaws.

Tank approaches the rowdy bunch, still timid as their behaviors send waves of doubt in his mind. "I hope you don't expect me to do it Sailor!?" With newly acquired wealth it looks like the party will continue well into the night.Copying the actions of the other "males" Tank reinacts the ritual by buying drinks, making jokes about "Dorsal Fins" and "Blow Holes" and soaks in the merriment of a good time. For the first time in ages, he does not think of food.

Before Tank made it to the stairs the Black-Knife family Matriarch dragged her two sons by the ear center stage in a formality useen by many around these parts. "A million partons FishTank, but these sons aren't my smartest, or my favorites..." Slapping them hard with well practiced blows and making them apologize simultaneously "Sorry, Master FishTank, your highness"Knuckles pointing at his younger brother instictively "Yeah, Freckles here took you for a simp" Mother smacking them both again, this time with a thunder that even made nearby taverngoers flinch "We had no ideas you'se was Scales da' Fish who eats men?" They hurried to return his personals, digging deep into their hidden folds and cloak pockets to produce everything they "thought" they had pilfered this day, they even accidently produced more swag Tank had never owned. Withthatdone, Mother Black-Knife proceeded to slap motivate them both out of the door in a vicious series of blows as she reminded them that "You won't be careful next time, you'll be dead...Notorious characters don't wear signs on themselves reading "Please don't force me to kill you today!"..."What have I taught you?...Rings and things, quick money brings...Mess with Scales and you'll lose entrails...don't you ever think there be no honor among thieves,(She paused and decided apon a wicked consequence for their indiscretions)... I know I'll make you bucks read a book as punnishment I will...wait til' Granny Black-Knife hears of this tale" Freckles freezes like a gorgon had caught his gaze "No moms, not Granny, she'll make us bathe---with---with soap and wash behind our ears and everything...we'll do better on the streets tonight moms, we promise!

During Alivia's impersonation of her mother's voice "You'll know it when you find it my little jewel. All your life you've been seeking it, but didn't know it. Everything I've taught you will finally make sense and come together when you find it. I can't explain it to you, you need to find it."

Tank remembers the woman Gra'nuai..le, as a Firstmate in this very bar at the very seat the young one mimicked her speech pattern in.

She has the Spirit of the same person, but her appearance is drastically different from the pirate that could make a man's heart stop with her buxom form or her deadly pistol.

The man who was lucky enough to father a child with the "Queen of the Cove" must have used two wishes and saved the third just in case...

Her fondness was for Rum-buttered Sweetbreads and strong tea if no hard liquor was readily available. Definitely not a Bard but her songs would haunt the nightwatch so that the crew would dream about ..."Her Plunder" on more than one occasion.

Tank could show the daughter her mother's portrait, the full majesty of the "Beauty of Blood Beach".

But this woman, must take completely after her father, still attractive, with still a charm and witty personality to be rivaled by the sea princesses of the Sharkfolk, but alas, not the woman Gra'nuai..le, or however this lot pronounces the strongest accent on the first or vice versa.

Tank thought to look after the child so that one day maybe his poems and sonets might eventually be delivered, but right then he suddenly took a punch from a diversionary thug as the second ran off with Tank's precious map collection. He cursed in a language that only the boiled lobster being served to the back booth could have understood and stayed seated as he knew that the ransom, would be too high, and the murders that he'd be forced to commit wasn't worth the effort of making his attack of opportunity with his reach weapon. He also knew the parents of these ruffians, and he thought that those apples had not fallen far...before the memories of Gra'nuai..le filled his soul with happiness again.

He set off to his room, he knew if this was a prison on land or in the brig of the Deep Dragon, he would have to kill everyone who intentionally wronged him, but Tank thought that each act of piracy led to the next, and he had murdered many in his past but always drew the line at those he felt were too young to suffer such dire consequences for such trivial things like maps of the sweetest pinapple plants or giant ever ripe coconut groves.

He paid the tend a few "Shackles" to gather information on the comings and goings of the "Daughter with a Destiny". Tank hoped that she had adventure in her veins, and knew what a pirate really was these days, becuase one wrong guess and she'd be, as sunk as the hundreds of hulls just West of the Cape of Chaos.

*Also OOC* Alivia I would love to have you as a DM or the honor of playing with you just the same.

As we all patiently wait for things to come together, I was going to "join" everyone else then some players were giving the DM ultimatums then going to different games anyway.

I am loyal to this event and without knowing who was going to participate exactly where, I've been eagerly waiting to see how this would all pan out.

I posted as an Oracle right up front but then the DM stated we needed a healer. I'm looking at like nine Clerics later, and I am glad I built this guy from the "Lame" mystery and fleshed him out to whatever you guys think. I joke about a party needing a Tank and his AC can really be important with his main focus being healing and saving PCs overboard with my ability to walk on water.

I was close to jumping in when you mentioned your characters' hopes that her family's name was familliar to anyone, but my call was to say, that "A lot of Captain's were famous young one, don't you fret your pretty little head, the long standing theory that women were bad luck aboard a ship was started by ...someone who was very wrong." I could have showed her layouts of her mom's galley and the routes we used and the adventures we sailed. Told her about her mother's favorite meal.

I want to get the honor of serving the most extravagant meals before the pirate walks the plank.

I do appreciate the Star Wars reference, chemistry would be automatic if we were all in person. I will learn from you if I even can ask you to help me with the code to turn my letters blue. I read the conventions of the posts-- why we use italics and what your character says in bold, but I wasn't being paranoid, I feel that the DM should make the cut soon, and my walking around preparing for the game would really be logical, but I really think that my maps get me mugged or my extensive history or local knowledges might get me hired.

Frankly your characters are creative but if the system was first come first serve? I can't see why one Undine Cleric would be picked over the other?

If you do get a great game that models what you consider play by post fun, let me know and I'll really study everything that needs to be done to add some value here.

I have two offline games Sunday so I really was hoping to be selected by now, but I'm still curious to the 5 that he'll pick and why.

Tank thought, "I need to ask around...about...about a lot of things it seems.”

He saw that Port Peril was a very active place, a lot of mouths to feed indeed.

If this was a cruise for nobles the fare was all about variety and variety translates to gold.

Scallywags tended not to complain or compliment, but they still appreciated the hard work of a chef that knows more than just Vitamin C is important to prevent scurvy. Thousands of taste substitutes flowed through his brain, sweet poisons and sour nutrients clashed like witty waves of wild wickedness as he imagined the first palate impressions of anyone unfamiliar with true technique and the brilliant designs he could display all using the most Spartan of resources.

Anti-plaque and Anti-toxins seemed important, the Alchemist's fizz tablets were novel at first glance but pirate vendors in a pirate town seemed to treat him as an invisible spirit, whose questions seemed...as odd as his finely crafted armor against a swabby background of musty orcish seadogs drenched in cheap wine and filth.

Tank's own treasures were countless rainbow colored and highly detailed maps of the greatest underwater farms in Golorion. Millions of "un-tasted" underwater life samples. His library of conversations between him and the rarest of cultures, would be transcripts that he believed would eventually lead him to "The Spawning Grounds", the birthplace of all life on the planet. Aberrant Temples of otherworldly travelers once used these seas to discuss order and hoped for a perfect world of harmonious existence, they would be shocked to see the scenes of whores and chaos that Tank is now witnessing. Outcasts among the outcasted is a great feat in these parts, little did Tank know that his elaborate maps would gain the attention of so many with just the "Hook" he was looking for.

Apologies after raising my Charisma my DCs on my spells go up to DC14 - O levels and DC15 - 1st levels, I'll double check my skills also, but for hit points I'm at (HP 9)(Favored Class) The only reason why I took Eye for Plunder is that I can get free cooking supplies to impress the crew straight away. Once you guys try my Katapeshi Masterwork Brownies you'll make the previous chef "walk the plank"!- I also don't know how to hide this stuff yet so only the DM can see the stuff he asked for. I'll learn, I was so happy that the dice roller worked

Born with a minor deformity, Tank traveled with a circus as the incredible "MerManiac" able to Fintastically defy the laws of nature an skim over water with an amazing display of acrobatic awesomeness. His fame and ability to create beautifully themed parties, well-prepared him for ice sculpting genius and introducing nobles to foriegn delicacies that allowed him to comfortably travel around the globe numerous times on countless adventures.

I do have range. I could play a Halfling Bard Shirley Temple singing "On the good ship Lollipop?"---I'll be good, I'll just DM next Adventure Path. I guess. I'm just saying that if we use different mediums, the collective creative picture can still be a masterpiece.

***Out of Character***

If you guys have already played this scenario, what fun would it be to swap ships and repeat the same storyline? I love Taize's name and I can see the depth of her creativity, but I just wanted to play the Tank- Oracle silly and light, feeding the crew and healing if we really are roleplaying. It sounds as if we could jump to Chapter 2, if Jenna and Taize are post-Mutiny.

Cross, I know it's your first time but can you freestyle all of it for us? The setting, the Drama, it should be pretty easy to get us on the boat for one reason or another. I might get left in the tavern organizing the buffet to start, but I just know that unless I had some Hostile Sharkmen negotiation street credibility, the Age of Conan roleplayers, will drown the board with strong creative depth that we never get at our conventions. Everybody is a Gunslinger, everybody hates Summoners.

Honestly, I'm going to read this post game if I make the cut or not, but it won't be fair if they know the White Whale's weaknesses out of the gate and I'm like who's Captain Aheb again?
