Maximus jogs around the exercise area briefly, and sets up a hammock in which he rests thereafter. He can't help but feel like the destruction of this ecosystem is a huge loss, but he also can't rule out the idea that Mina's calcium wonderland wouldn't have some appeal for someone who isn't him. He ponders the mysteries of the universe, and decides that he'll only get truly worried if Mina starts sending spores out into space.

"So there's no middle ground, eh? Well, Big Mina is interesting enough, so I getcha that way, duders! I myself might not vote for a single guy or gal over the rest of the planet, since those little sloth things also seem pretty awesome! But I'm just one, and I'll go along with whatever."

"I finally find shorts weather and I'm stuck in a suit!" says Maximus. "Well, dudes, let's hit it!"

"Oh yeah--hey Mina! You look pretty sweet."

Maximus moves up and thinks hard at Blue.

Mind Thrust I, Will DC 15 for half: 2d10 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11

"It's kind of a shame, isn't it? This is a big plateau, though. Big Mina has a lot of these I'm sure."

Maximus steps up and readies an action.

Maximus whispers, "I heard that! I was wondering what those were. Let's be careful!"

Maximus "subtly" edges toward the back of the group.

Maximus climbs down the cable. "All right so this is dark and not particularly great but let's do this anyway!" Athletics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12

He climbs down slowly and unsteadily, betraying his lack of experience in such matters. He mutters something about how he's grateful it's metal and not an organic fiber cable. He looks around as Rosilla indicates, whether by on purpose or by accident, the calcified body in question.

"Oh man. That's some serious stuff. I know it's not your space battle, but it was still really brave to come out all the way here by herself. I really hate that it didn't work out, it makes me sad to see someone's life cut short just as they were beginning to find their way," he says, after watching the video with Gava and the rest of the party.

Maximus thinks a moment. "Don't kasathas, y'know... preserve a slice of brain on death? Upload it to some sort of global consciousness? Besides the 'ASSIMILATE' vibe it actually sounds like a really cool thing. I bet House Hadulan would like it if we could bring Exu back home to them somehow. I dunno about bringing her whole body back--sounds heavy! Do we have anyone surgical enough to take a slice from her brain? Might save you a few discs in your back, Gava!"

"C'mon folks, let's camp! We can bond over marshmallows and calcium birds! And having spent our reserves of energy! Doesn't that sound like an awesome time?"

Maximus is out of spells and would like to rest! He'll try to take a nap and get some spells back.

"I don't suppose I could, y'know... take a nap or something first, though?" asks Maximus. "We've been out there kicking butt all day and I need a breather!"

"Well, I'm down to... get down. Get all up in its business? Something like that."

Maximus thinks, "Sorry, dude." at the green avian. The thought is full of regret and also mind-splitting pain.

I'm pretty sure it's in range!

Mind Thrust I

Mind Thrust, DC 15 Will for half: 2d10 ⇒ (7, 8) = 15

Maximus yelps in alarm. "Bwaa? Oh come on!"

Life science to ID the burbs: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

"C'mon now, let's chill out!" He stares at the bluebird.

Mind Thrust 1, DC 15 Will save for half: 2d10 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 followed by Life Science: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

"That's really cool! I wonder what would happen if we brought one back with us. It could chill with us in one of the spare cabins maybe."

"Oh, we gotta walk? I guess that's fine. I could use the exercise." He gets out of the vehicle and follows his new friend up the hill.

"I... find this place just super skeezy, don't you all? What do you think is going on here, duders? I'm just waiting for the horror vid ending now."

Maximus tries to help navigate once we're back on the buggy, but he keeps watching over his shoulder.

Piloting to Aid: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

The... map perhaps blows away in the wind?

"Doctor Rosilla!" yells Maximus.

Will save against fear of heights: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Maximus clings to the tower a moment as the prospect of climbing down seizes him with fear. Eventually, his desire to help takes over.

"The- the medic's coming!" he yells as he tries to scale the tower in the opposite direction. Athletics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6

This might not be graceful. Should he actually reach the ground relatively unscathed, he begins trying to aid Rosilla!

Medicine check to see if she's okay: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Do you hear that, guys? My first adventure, and I'm already fulfilling my party role! I'm support!

"C'mon up! Someone! Anyone! Pick one of you! Wait, not you Kalvarnix, you're freakin' huge. Swole even. Too swole to climb the pole! Hah!"

"If I can do it, any of you can!"

Nice roll on the d20 not included...

Maximus looks around Perception, vs. DC 23: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30 and ponders Survival, DC 18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9. "You sure those things aren't just weird bird burial mounds?"

"I will... I will anchor you! And provide encouragement! Sarenrae may not catch you as you fall, but she will heal your wounds after you hit the bottom!"

Maximus is un-Athletic: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14

Maximus finally runs up to the enercycle. "Nature called! Sorry."

He attempts a piloting check to navigate!: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

He almost gets the map right this time. Almost. "So take a right past the Doshkoraz Mountains, but and if we get to Blood Mountain we've gone too far. Wait, wrong planet? Crap."

If Kalvarnix's attack doesn't connect, Maximus will think hard at it again.

Mind Thrust, Will save DC 15 for half damage

Untyped Mind Thrust damage: 2d10 ⇒ (1, 7) = 8

As an object, would the buggy be immune to critical hits?

"Bugger."

Maximus says, "It's just a thing, we're all okay... chill out, it'll be all right!"

The ryphorian steps toward the crest-eater (move action, takes the crest-eater from 30 feet away to 20), and he stares long and hard at it.

In my defense, I didn't say what kind of esteem we hold you in. It could be high esteem, but it could also be low esteem... that's still esteem!

After getting planted at the bottom of the slope, Maximus hustles toward his new friends. "I'm coming, I'm coming! Hold your horses, doodles! Or... your buggies, I guess. Heh!"

*wheeze*

Maximus double-moves.

Maximus is picked up before he rolls too far, and stands up. "Thanks for the help! Oof. Well, at least the shirt is okay. Not a lot of...rubble here." He brushes off his shirt, but nothing is displaced.

I believe our esteemed GM is already aware, but I ran this a couple of weekends ago. So I wasn't planning on voting. That said...

Apologies, but I might be missing a post today. I've got a couple of big projects due today (April 13th) that I'm crunching for. I'll post as soon as I'm able, hopefully late today or early tomorrow.

Maximus slowly tries to climb down the slope. Athletics: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11

He... might roll down the hill a bit.

A subdued Maximus pats Kalvarnix. "No worries. Learning something new is hard. It's not like I was great with those maps, anyway."

Eventually, he peers off in the distance. "Huh, those are--"

Life Science: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

"--yeah, the whole acid thing. Hey Kalvarnix, do you think we should get out here?"

Maximus hops on the bike behind the dragon-person. "Us musclebound menaces need to stick together!" he cries. "CHAAAARGE!"

"Oh wait where's that map?"

Untrained Piloting: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

+4 if the navigator's aids that help with survival also apply to piloting checks to navigate?

Maximus thinks aloud. "Huh. Like a lobster? So... is it like a giant crab leg or something? Mmmm. Sounds tasty. It's probably some sort of trick or trap, though. Have you had any mancers or mystics check it out yet?"

"Oh, and isn't that a cute little thing! What's up with the sloth dudes?"

Maximus is slotting the Wayfinder's champion faction boon and the Ryphorian admittance personal boon, but that's about it!

Sloth races are adorable.

Oh, and also a Promotional Reroll boon! Just in case things go Maximus-shaped.

"Yeah.... that's a good idea!... tell you what I'm gonna move one'a these buggies out of storage so people can... y'know, load stuff on it? Be real useful."

Maximus is slotting the Wayfinder's champion faction boon and the Ryphorian admittance personal boon, but that's about it!

Sloth races are adorable.

"It'd be pretty rad to own a bike, wouldn't it? If you were gonna buy a bike, what would you buy? One of the AbadarCorp models, something third party? Me, I'd go with one of the vintage bikes. Arcadia Motorcycles made some awesome rides back in the day."

Maximus banters back and forth through most of the voyage. When you finally touch down, he gets outside as soon as he can.

"Ah, to feel the warmth of a star on your face again! It's getting me all pumped up! C'mon, want to go for a jog anyone? Let's do some laps!"

He sets off for the track at a slow jog. Approximately 24 seconds later, he's back in his previous spot, drenched in sweat, doubled over, and panting. "Oh man I shouldn't... have opened it up quite so fast. I'm beat!... Too much time on the ship... Good workout though. HIIT for lyfe!..."

"We supposed to meet someone here? Let's head inside... maybe... we'll find Motressi there."

"Oh man," says the large ryphorean. "This sounds pretty awesome! I'm totally geeked! I'm not kidding--I'm ready to go whenever y'all are."

"But wait, there's more?! Did you say something about a pre-sapient species? I bunked in a skittermander hostel for a couple of weeks last year so I know what a nufriend is, and this really sounds like an opportunity to meet a few! I wanna know what their deal is. Sounds like a great conversation starter once we get planetside."

A round summer triaxian in a Sovyrian shirt bounds toward the snacks. "Hey little boss lady! Thanks for the donut!"

"I mean, I'm sure y'all know me, but I'm Maximus. I like sun, summer, and chilling out. Being cool really helps you get in touch with what lives in here." He taps his chest where his heart would be. You think. Triaxian anatomy can be a little weird. "I'm all about peace, love, and--" he looks at his snack "donuts, at least for today. And Sarenrae, of course. So lean on me to keep your spirits up! I'm here for you, dudes, dudettes, and doodles."

He goes to envelop Fitch in an awkward bear-hug.

Maximus is a mystic who channels to heal! He'll be way more interesting at level 2 once his channels can heal stamina. He might be doing spot-duty as a Mind Thrust specialist this scenario.

Maximus looks at V'lorus. "Bring it in! Bring it in." He holds his arms out wide.

@GM: no issues here! Now that Maximus is set up I'm ready whenever.

Edit: now if I could remember how to tell Campaign Tools to set Maximus as my default for this thread I'd be set.
