Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

"Darn straight we'll take down these bone bags. Watch your six Ra!" Max tumbles past the bony foe, drawing his knife. He lashes out, not to cause harm directly, but to give Ra an opening.

Cartwheeling to C7 and using Aid Another to give Ra a +2 to his next attack roll.

"Watch your step!" Max lashes out with his whip, trying to throw one of the skeletons off balance, then dodges out of the way.

Trip maneuver on Skeleton 1. If the check fails by 10, Max drops his whip rather than being tripped himself. He then takes a 5' step to B7.

Go right ahead Camris.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Max squints at the snake and whispers to Ibrahim. "So, uh, is that thing going to bite if we get near?"

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Despite the poor angle, Max takes a shot at the dog.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

"Sure."

Max makes a once over of the southerly outbuilding.

If no one else wants to take charge, Max will lead the way to the larger courtyard in the East.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

"I expect we'll need to search the whole kit and caboodle before we're done."

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Max fiddles with the door to unlock it.

"I... I don't know what came over me there." Max sheepishly comes out from behind the statue before darting back toward the now shut doors.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Seeing no obvious escape from the threat of the gates, Max ducks behind a statue to conceal himself.

"We're Surrounded!" Max rushes off to the East.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Is Max Frightened, Panicked, or something else?

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

"She's right! They're coming for us!" Max exclaims in terror. The halfling rushes up the steps to the door and starts trying to get inside.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

"Shall we choose door number one, two or three?" asks Max.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Max has learned Ancient Osiriani as well now.

The halfling makes a walk of the perimeter, on the lookout for less obvious entrances. He then focuses his attention on the gates themselves.

"Magic?" he asks Inferis and Cerastes.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Moving on is fine.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

I thought Idorii had already left the building?

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

"Sorry to hear it. Our expedition wasn't without a few close scrapes as well." Max replies. He has better sense than to laugh at the joke.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Ra, Yes, the shield is simply that valuable. Things will equalize pretty fast when the rest of us start finding usable magic items though.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

np. I guess add another 125 each for Cerastes, Max, Inferis & Lori from the sale of the last Mask.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

"Well she's a piece of work if I ever saw one. Falto, your taste in women is quite questionable. What is this tomb she seemed so interested in anyway?"

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Max's eyes narrow. "Now where would you hear a thing like that?"

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Max seems to be hardly paying attention to the details of Ibrahim's explanation as he takes a heavy toke of the hookah. "Well you seem to know your stuff. I think we can take you on. On a trial basis, of course. As soon as we figure out the next job that is."

"Too bad about the snake. maybe we could find a gnome or something to tinker it into submission."

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

I'm a little interested if you need one more.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

"Seems you had it easy, just dealing with a couple of dried up corpses. We had an entire sarcophagus animate to keep us out. Now normally, such a trifling thing we'd dispatch with haste, but this particular stiff decided to try to flood us out at the same time. Can you imagine? A veritable flood in the middle of the desert! But we cut that overgrown cabinet down to kindling despite the odds." Max brags.

In response to Ibrahim, he adopts the exaggerated airs of an interviewer. "Nature magic, huh? Can't say as we've run afoul any animals out there yet, aside from the bugs. Know anything about battling bugs?"

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

"If that is how it has to be. Not everyone is cut out for the dangers of the line of work." he replies to Lori. "May the wind be ever at your back, or whatever it is sailors say."

"Well met Falto. I am Maxelmish Stoutwick, and we are the Silver Serpents." he says with a flourished bow. He chuckles as the knife nearly impales Falto. "I dunno Ra, I think he's good for a few laughs. Maybe one of those acts where he's tied to a a great spinning wheel and and a knife thrower with a blindfold tries his luck."

And this is why I always prefer just taking 1/2. Oh well.
Picked up feather fall.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Reminded of the mark, Max affixes a bandana over his head to cover it.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Shall we level up and buy new gear now, or wait until the denouement is done?

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Max regales the priest with exaggerated tales of their exploits below. He conveniently forgets to mention setbacks and exactly how close they were to death.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

So... I'm good to advance things and meet up with our new party member.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Max follows the dwarf, trying to cheer him up. "Don't sweat it too much Ra. What's Akhentepi going to do with a chunk of gold anyway? He's gone on to his final reward. I'll tell you what, hows about we try and track down his descendants? We find them, then use our shares of the mask to treat them to a feast in this old general's honor. Let the living remember him for a change. Heck, when my time to kick the bucket comes, I'd insist that you take my last share and buy a round to toast my name, not bury it with me somewhere in the sand."

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

I concur, Lori shouldn't leave empty handed. The druid will come in with level 2 starting gear, so things will be fine. (besides, I don't want to do the math again)

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

So the math here was pretty tricky, and none of this is counting the mask we are still debating getting. After Lori takes her split in cash (1666 gp) and leaves, I propose we all chip in to buy a wand of cure light wounds. This leaves us with the following. If you want to claim one of the silversheens or darkvision potions, deduct its sell price (half of the buy price) from the gold you are getting to compensate:

Party as a whole is getting:
wand of cure light wounds (50 charges)

Cerastes is getting:
MWK Spear
MWK Longbow
5 cold iron arrows
772 gp 8 sp 9 cp

Ra is getting:
+1 Scarab Shield
MWK Compound Longbow
5 cold iron arrows
debt (because the shield is worth so much, Ra actually owes Cerastes, Inferis and Max an additional 366 gp 9 sp each to balance things out)

Max is getting:
1 Potion of Lesser Restoration
961 gp 6 sp 3 cp

Inferis is getting:
1111 gp 6 sp 3 cp

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Max shrugs, and continues tallying the rest of the haul. He doesn't make any moves to take the mask.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Normally, gems and art objects are sold for 100% and everything else for 50%. Are we deviating from that?

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

For the loot, I guess the only real questions are:

Does Cerastes want the masterwork spear and/or the holy symbol?
And does Ra wand the masterwork compound longbow and/or the cold iron arrows?

Other than those, I'm thinking we keep the Scarab Shield and the the potions and sell everything else. I'm also not sure whether the silversheen is worth keeping.

Once the two questions above are answered, I can calculate what we get for it.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Basic DC is 20, although a 15 gets you to within 20%

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

Sure, Max gets a 25 taking 20

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

I don't think that's even necessary. We just sit on it while we loot, then let it go, rush out of the room and slam the door. Might as well leave it in there to guard the general's corpse from people even less scrupulous than us.

Male Halfling Bard (Archaeologist) 2

druid as well.
