Male Human Barbarian 2; Water Wizard 8

Master Thorn looks up at the door and sees new people enter.

"Hello there! I guess you want to have some snacks," he says with a tired voice, as if the idea of passing out snacks was somehow exhausting and for some reason.

"Actually, something tells me you two probably won't actually want the snacks... which means I'll just have to go through all the trouble of getting them out for nothing..." he grumbles.

Then he pulls out some hot tea and cold cider and a plate with diced cheese, apple slices, hot bread and butter, and some cold chicken.

"Now - how can I help you two?" he asks both Azari and Dragonal.

Ignis stops suddenly. "Don't wait! I'll catch up!"she tells her companions. She rides back to Master Thorn and gives him the other 250 gold she and Ravia found,"Now we only owe you 150,"she says.

"Hmph... well, better than nothing..." he mutters and then slides you a large bag.

In the Bag:

You find not only One Mana Potion but two Healing Potions (apparently he gave you an extra one for free), but you also find a sleeping bag so if you're in the wild and need to sleep you have something more comfortable to rest on the ground in.

Apparently Master Thorn is more impressed with your good manners then he let on...

Ayaan you can come, but you are paying for your own supplies.

Ignis rushes in, her cheeks flushed."Actually, we should head due north. That is the way to the ruins. We will have to go through a forest, though."

Ignis sees Master Thorn."Can we get 150 gold worth of potions? We'll pay you back, I swear."

"Oh fine, I suppose I can lend you the money - being that you did manage to save the tavern from those soldiers... barely," he says with a small grumble.

Mana Potions are 100 GP - they heal 6 Mana and Healing Potions are 50 GP they heal 5 Health.

Let me know how many you'd like at this time...

Ignis calls out to Master Thorn. "Thanks, but I think we should search here first, out of potential danger."

He shrugs.

"Well, it was just a suggestion," he says.

He then looks around at the tavern.

"Who are all these people and what are they doing here?" he says to himself as he strokes his chin thoughtfully.

"Well, I'm sure they'll introduce themselves to me soon, no doubt" he adds, then waits for the new visitors to introduce themselves and explain what they're doing here, and what their plans are.

Master Thorn glances from the other sitting at the counter and doing nothing but continuing to eat their snacks.

He clears his throat and calls out to Ignis and Ravia.

"You know, if you cannot find one of these fine fellows to join you then you might consider trying to search smaller areas."

"For example, there was an old guard post built into mountainside which was designed to station to troops to warn the city of approaching enemies. It is fairly small compared to a ruined city, but I would think that if all you could find was one or two people to travel with then the guard house is big enough to be challenging but not too challenging." he muses.

"If you would like, I could tell you where the guard house to the city was, I know the general location, but that's up to you - if you cannot find at least one or two others to come with you, then I would think the two of you should be able to handle it... perhaps," he adds.

"What do you think?"

Also, how do you make an alias? I want to make one for my future fire genie:)

Aquatic Creature and sailor sat down across from each other at a table on line U:6 and U:9 respectively, you have to scroll down a little but you should see them.

You want to scroll on the side of the map; not on the map itself; that way you don't move any of the map icons or images. I think someone may have tried to scroll down before and maybe moved the map images rather than the scrolled down on the screen.

Making new aliases is a bit tricky so I can show you all when we're in Room 2; and you don't have the fire djinn yet - but meanwhile; when will see your Fire Fox alias? Just curious :)

Master Thorn picks up a piece of bread and munches on it.

"Do you have any idea why your companions are so quiet?" he asks Ignis thoughtfully, then takes a sip of some hot tea.

"Also, those two over there seem pretty quite... Only a few days ago we had some other lads come in and they started a fight in my tavern. Hopefully that doesn't happen today, but we shall see," he adds, then takes another sip of the tea.

Master Thorn turns his gaze from Ignis to Acuwizard and Hades Senior...

"The tower; it is not finished yet," he says with a rueful voice.

"This is not good; perhaps we should adjourn to somewhere more comfortable? A tavern, perhaps?"

Naturally, you've all heard of Master Thorn's Tavern.

Being that you are all feeling a bit hungry and standing on the grass by a half-finished tower is somewhat dull, you happily accept his offer.

Soon he has you inside his tavern and is at the main counter serving you snacks.

At this time Acuwizard, Meshidawg and Ignis are sitting on stools by the counter as he serves you all cups of hot tea or some fresh cider. He also puts out a plate of hot, fresh bread and a clay plate with a large amount of butter on it, and finally another small plate with some nuts to eat.

Meanwhile, you can see that Poisodin Junior, Brozo and Cede are at another table planning some grand strategy and that Ashley is sitting at table by herself.

"I hope you enjoy the snacks," he says with a polite tone, but you can hear him muttering how it seems that every time he meets Heroes that they always have to have a snack before they start their adventure, though - naturally - he doesn't say that out loud...

"Once the tower is built I would think you should prepare it for a large attack. I have a feeling that enemies are only waiting for their attack so it could be finished and then taken over, but we shall see."

As he says that you notice that two figures have entered the room; one of them is an Aquatic creature and it seems he is traveling with some sort of sailor.

They quickly move to sit down at a new table.

Master Thorn looks up.

"Ah - more arrivals! But who are they? Does anyone know?" he asks the group.

If you check the map again, you'll see it's been updated...

"I do not know now - give me time; I will do what I can to find others who may be interested... Meanwhile, ask those who you already know - perhaps there are some who are already interested but do not know about this possibility as well as you do?"

"I only know of one person suited for this visit. I believe you know him- his name is Lorenzo. Do you know of any other powerful fire wizards?"asks Ignis hopefully, all too ready to go to the realm of flame.

Master Thorn thinks a moment.

"No, most of my colleagues are not Fire Wizards."

"Yet this Lorenzo you speak of - if he is willing, then you should invite him."

He glances at the sea thoughtfully, then the tower you are working on.

"Meanwhile, you do not need to take Fire Wizards only; surely there are others that may wish to travel with you in this realm? Perhaps a Tinker who might be able to craft armor to defend against flames; or perhaps an Explorer who could not only heal your wounds, but would be interested in exploring new realms?"

He shrugs.

"Who knows - yet I warn you; such a place will be challenging. Whoever you ask, makes sure they are able to survive the challenges. If you take a beginner they may find things too difficult..."

"If I could choose any place I would probably choose the fire realm... But alas, I am part of a team, and we have to base our decisions off of everyone's thoughts,"says Ignis, answering Penelope's question.

Thorn smiles at Ignis.

"You are wise not to travel there yet; such a place is for beings that are made of fire and flame. I deem you are not strong enough for such trials - yet - but that does not mean you could not visit such a realm..."

He glances at the western sky, studying the dark red light of the sinking sun.

"Perhaps it would be best if you found a group of other wizards who desired to seek the Plane of Fire - if you found them then you might visit there, for a while, and see if you could explore a small amount. If it became too dangerous you could return, of course."

"Yet I deem this would be a quest better suited for a smaller group; one who is not concerned with matters of large combats in the field."

"If you are indeed interested in such a task, speak to your allies and find a trusted group of friends and - when the time is right - we can attempt to create a magical portal which will take you and your allies there to explore."

"Those who do not wish to come may remain and attend to other matters, or, perhaps, they may wish to advance to quests more to their own tastes?" he adds.

"Master Thorn, Penelope is right to suggest a tower near the docks. We have a water wizard on our team as powerful as I, and we were already planning to build our tower near the docks."

Master Thorn raises his eyebrows in surprise.

"Oh were you?" he says.

"Have you prepared yourself from any possible combat once the tower is completed? After all, how do you know that your tower will not be attacked and taken from you as soon its built?" he adds.

"After all, were you not already assaulted by a minor army with a red dragon? And now that army has fled and you think you are successful in beating it back, but what if it returns with a bigger and more powerful army? What if it is just hiding from you and waiting for the tower to be built and then take it over?"

"He is right to suggest farms, for they can produce plenty of food. Yet to my mind there is always the advantage of building your tower near to docks. Docks mean you can build fishing boats, that can be useful in getting food, and docks will make it easier to get business through trade."

Master Thorn looks at Penelope and snorts at her comment.

"Huh! Your friend the Water Elf is ever eager to have your tower near the sea, for it is clear she can think of the advantages of the water, yes. But remember; if your tower is near water that means an enemy can attack you both from the land, and they can bring in a navy to attack your tower, too."

"If you would build a tower near the water - and docks - make sure you have at least one warship built to protect you from a naval attack," he adds as he takes a mug and pours himself a cool beverage and then drinks deeply from it.

Ashley, I am Neha. I vaguely remember you from summer sacc, but you may not remember me. I am a level 9 fire wizard, and an ally of both Lorenzo and Ayaan. I hope I can help you on your quest against the half-orcs. I have fought these creatures before, and I have some useful information. As for Master Thorn, I have met him before.

Master Thorn turns a shrewd glance at Ignis Fotia.

"Ah yes, Lady Ignis," he says with a droll tone.

"When we first met I recall that you were a novice with some modest skill at conjuring flames and some such - but now your reputation has grown with your power."

He pauses as he leans back in his chair, studying Ignis thoughtfully.

"Rumor has it that you and your allies were able to defeat a legion of soldiers; including their commander - a man who rode on a full-grown red dragon, and now that he has been defeated you have elected to build yourselves a mighty tower."

He folds his arms and leans forward.

"You and your allies may have driven him back, but he was not defeated. While you work on the tower I would advise those of you who are not so interested in building to send out scouts to discover more details. Surely an army so large as the one who assailed you will not merely fade away... Nay; I would guess that even now he is studying your work and is preparing another assault, though - perhaps - that assault shall not happen until your tower is complete and they can claim your tower for their own."

He reaches his hand across to a plate covered with figs, dates and almonds and takes a few, offering the plate of snacks to you as he considers things.

"Your tower may be strong when it is built, and the best army may not be able to destroy the walls if you have built them well. Yet there are other weapons besides steel and magic an enemy may use against a strong place... weapons such as hunger," he adds, then takes another fig as he eyes Ignis for a moment.

"Once you have your tower built I would strongly advise you to build farms, and some sort of defense for them. The next army may not even bother to attack your tower; instead, they may simply surround you and wait until all your food is eaten and you have nothing left."

"Building farms next, and a place to store the food - if you cannot do so in the tower - would be a good plan, too."

I agree with Ashley. We should get mana and health poitions because there are multiple floors to the mines. And sorry Master Thorn, the red wizard is still just barley alive. I think he might have made a deal with the half-orcs.

Master Thorn nods his head.

"This is a good plan; after all, if you enter the caves it would be good to have potions to refresh your health and your mana. After all; the caves might be very deep. You may be forced to go down level after level, fighting increasingly more difficult challenges and dangers and all the while you would be wearing down your mana and health until you were nearly empty when you encountered the final boss."

"Indeed, I can't imagine any hero being foolish enough to enter such dangers as these caves without preparing properly," he adds, his voice not sounding sarcastic at all...

"Meanwhile, is there a way to find this Red Wizard, given that he is now "barely alive"?" he asks the group.

Meshidawg wrote:
barley alive!!!

Thorn turns a glance at the barbarian.

"I do not find this a laughing matter... this Red Wizard is dangerous! He could come back and do great harm; stealing the treasure of a hero, destroying both ships and property; even causing mighty heroes to perish and have to begin again - only, perhaps, with far less experience than they had before they were defeated," he adds dryly.

"If you had defeated him properly then perhaps he would not still be a threat. But then, that is just my opinion," Thorn adds.

He turns back to Ashley and Athena.

"I will have a full list of things I can sell you both soon. Also, to aid you, I am preparing a letter to a friend of mine near the coast. When you return from this mission he will already have done what he can to collect strange and unusual creatures. After all, I know many of you want pets to aid you, though I myself do not have them."

"If you manage to survive the caves and return to the surface then head for the town by the coast; you will find many unusual things for sale there, including many strange and exotic pets," he adds politely.

"Or do you wish to wait for more Heroes to join you before you decide?"

"If you wish to buy more supplies then that can easily be arranged. Naturally I will have gear and potions to show you soon, but I believe you have more Heroes who will join. No doubt that they shall appear very soon..." he responds.
