Male Human Witch (Gravewalker) 3
Some quick-n-dirty math: a cart or wagon moves 16 miles a day. Marwan can heal at minimum 4 nonlethal damage per day from the mule if we did a forced march, which by RAW also eliminates the fatigue, meaning at the minimum we can do 4 hours of forced march per day without penalty, which means 20 miles/day which cuts that travel time in half. If Marwan can find a CLW wand/scroll in town then that's even less time. If this feels to powergamey for you Terquem I get it and never mind. Marwan takes Patricia's hand in his own emaciated one and bows slightly. "Of course, we only met during the attack did we not? I am Marwan del Hechizo, Vurespanian mage. I've lived a half mile or so outside this charming village for a little less than a year now. I live in the woods for the sake of my privacy, but I was raised in a similar village in my home country, so I would be happy to stay in the area for a long while. My own home has seen some... changes in culture I could not tolerate so I left to pursue my own life elsewhere, and the winds of chance blew me to your shores. I quite like it here though, so if you'll have me I'd love to stay. As for Lord Calex, he'll be coming along as well, though I believe he's dealing with finding housing for those soldiers you mentioned with that Marcus fellow. He's quite busy in the few days we have."

Marwan walks up behind her. We don't, but unfortunately a roving band of orcs isn't something that could be ignored, and something is uniting all these races that I've never heard to work together. Even if we weren't looking for her, anything that can form armies and bully giants is something I would rather face away from here."

Sorry, my new job has me working 16-hour days Wednesday and Thursday and another 8 on Friday. That makes posting on those days difficult, especially since it's in the middle of nowhere. Between that and kind of feeling like Marwan has little personally involved in this scene and I've slowed down again. Calex wrote: Sorry for the delay folks- I had my car impounded and had to spend a few days with friends to get to work. And in a purely unrelated aside, don't buy a used radar detector...just saying... Yikes.

Marwan is yet unused to the adventuring lifestyle, being an emaciated academic and village medicine man before recent events. He comes tumbling out of the elves' home slightly late and only mostly recovered. "Good morning everyone. I'm quite ready to approach Mistress Gresham and see where that leads us. I'm not readjusted to the road life just yet."

"That sounds lovely, Calex. I'd love some food that we didn't catch ourselves. I'll see if we can find some place for you, friend." Marwan taps Tom on the arm. "Don't go too far, the people here have been through a lot and they might be startled by your presence. They're good people, though, and I'm sure they'll warm up to you."

Marwan continues caring for the wounded and participates in their conversations as much as he can. "It is not so different from where I had my childhood. The small villages were vulnerable during the rebellion. Unfortunately many simply left to live in larger more defensible settlements. Those that didn't often had powerful defenders of their own: fearsome warriors leading trained men rather than militias armed with pitchforks or powerful mage working as the village wise men like I was trained to do. Unfortunately these tafganor are fearsome indeed. We left a man named Marcus when we came to find you, and he seemed capable. I'm sure he is doing splendidly in leading the construction and defensive efforts."

Marwan rubs his beard and looks up to the sky while he paces next to the disk, keeping an eye on Cicily in case her condition worsens. Maybe that's this Red Lake Fortress Tuwo-, Tsuo-, Fue-, Thuomanunh mentioned. Marwan struggles wrapping his mouth around the giant's name, the phonics being quite different from his native language. He looks sheepishly at the giant. Forgive me, friend, that is not an easy name for a Vurespanian tongue I'm afraid. In any event, we ought to get Cicily back to the village. She needs to rest, and I'm sure many will be glad to see she is safe.

Marwan chuckles. "Please, do not call me 'sir'; I am a hermit living in the middle of the woods, technically squatting, I believe." He holds up his new items "I'll need more time with this bag but this scarf provides the effects of a suit of armor without hindering one's ability to cast spells. Myself or Sir Calex would probably benefit most from this."

Stone giants, they should be extinct. I don't know if this will work, but please stand back. At the appearance of the giant skeleton Marwan starts to chuckle. Thankfully I do, master Calex. Marwan points his hand at the skeleton and starts muttering and then his voice grows to a shout. Dernan, orget VODCH! Bonethrall Hex. DC 16 Will Save or I control it as long as it has 3 HD or less.
