He refills everyone's tea glass, waiting for a nod of acquiescence before seating himself cross-legged on the ground and pouring himself a glass. Marius smiles at the Professor's fiery retort as he gets up to refill his glass "They mean no disrespect, Evelyn. May I call you Evelyn? They speak from an abundance of caution and concern for your safety. I too suffered a great personal loss" he stares at the rumpled hat sitting on the table "and can understand your need, no your desire, for revenge but that is a story for another time."

Marius enters the salon late as the others have already gathered. He looks over the others as he stops short. Although he's never worked with them he knows each of the others by reputation. The blue eyed Shoanti can only be Bhornkild, the spirit walker. He clasps forearms with the big man as he smiles "You must be Bhornkild. Excellent job on the Scorpion coast, by the way. It wouldn't do to have a former Pharaoh wandering around causing all kinds of trouble."

He nods respectfully to the Garundi in the tribal robes "Ki'dhir, an excellent scout and guide. He's saved a number of mubtadi' from the perils of the desert. I remember my uncle telling me a story about him."

Lastly he smiles and bows to the lithe Garundi woman. "Peace be with you, Zahira Al-Gamila. Your deeds proceed you. My regrets about Ipeq and your parents."

"My name is Marius, Marius Vorloren." He removes his weather beaten hat with it's signature red feather and tosses it on the table. Whatever Irizi has planned it has to be big for her to recruit all this talent". He makes his way to the sideboard and pours himself a drink before offering the decanter to the others. Taking a seat he waits for their host to make her appearance and explain what's going on.

Shadow_Fox, how do you feel about learning another races racial spells? I'm thinking about taking Bit of Luck for Marius but it is listed as a Catfolk spell. Would it be okay to take this as a spell known?, otherwise I'll just go with Beacon of Luck.


Background:
Marius was born the seventh son of a seventh son of an obscure Taldan noble family. Realizing upon his majority that his inheritance would be less than nothing he struck out on his own. Following in his beloved uncle's footsteps he joined the Pathfinder Society and set out to see the world.

After several years in the Society word reached him of his uncle's death in Sothis. Abandoning his current assignment he made his way to Osirion. Once there he found out that his uncle had been murdered by agents of the Aspis Consortium. With his pleas of retribution to the Sothis Lodge falling on deaf ears he decided to take matters into his own hands. Over the next several weeks those agents responsible had all perished under mysterious circumstances.

Angered, but unable to prove anything and not wanting to start a war with the Consortium the local Venture-Captain dismissed Marius from the Society. On his own Marius waited for the eventual reprisal, which never came.

Now over a year later Marius has settled in Osirion and has taken to selling his expertise to expeditions to the various tombs and ruins in the area.

Description:
Marius is a tall man, standing at least a head taller than the local people. His piercing ice blue eyes, a gift from his mother, also set him apart. His black hair is unkempt and his beard badly in need of a trim. His signature battered leather wide brimmed hat (taken from his uncle's belonging's before he shipped the body home) lies cocked at an angle and is adorned with a single red feather (rumor has it that it was originally white and that Marius steeped it in the blood of the first agent he killed. A rumor that Marius will neither confirm or deny, as it adds to his mystique). His skin has been tanned by the sun, wind, and sand of the desert but is just a shade lighter than the native Osiriani people. He usually wears the robes of the desert dwelling people, except for the hat and a bandolier of various vials strapped across his chest, when in the field but switches to more relaxed style when in the cities and towns of the area.


Okay, Marius is almost ready to go (just need to pick a few more spells, but mechanically he is set).


I'm thinking about an Archaeologist Bard. kind of an Indiana Jones vibe. The seventh son of a seventh son of a Taldan noble family who, with nothing to inherit, decides to make his own fortune in Osirion.

Marius points out to Meriui and Merutep the pairs of secret doors to the east and west before explaining the nature of the trapped platform "Anyone stepping on the platform would be electrocuted by electricity arcing between the pillars before all the doors to this room slammed shut and those pair of northern doors would open to reveal whatever is behind them." he kneels back down to examine the traps mechanism again before continuing "We were in the midst of figuring this out when Kyrus, one of our departed companions, had his vision and decided to leave."

Removing his tools from his backpack, he gets to work figuring out how to bypass the trap. "I knew taking a break and coming at this fresh would be a good idea."

Marius stands as the others join the table "A pleasure to meet you both." he says as he extends a hand to the newcomers "Please take a seat." he waves to get the serving girls attention "Another round for us, and whatever these two are drinking as well." He whispers in the girl's ear, who then eyes Merutep and Aya, before she departs

Taking his seat he examines both Meriui and Merutep with a keen eye "I'm sure Rashim and Caius have filled you in on our situation and that, by the fact that you are here, you have agreed to join us. Just a quick note of business first, everything is divided equally amongst us. We share the danger, we share the reward. Tonight, though, take the time to get to know us. Ask any questions that might be on your mind and we'll do our best to answer them. Tomorrow, after the Dawnflower's blessing," he nods at Meriui "we'll return to the tomb." he raises his glass in a toast as the girl returns to the table with the drinks and several platters of meat, one of which is still raw, which she sets on the table "Tonight we dine, tomorrow we delve."

After Rashim jams the trap, Marius gingerly steps on the pressure plate and examines the blank wall in front of him "Why put that trigger over here, seems like an odd place for it? I wonder what they were trying to protect?" he muses

Marius will cast a spell upon himself and call upon his family's luck before coming over and working on the pressure plate along with Hibbins and Caius.

Rendering what little aid he can, he refreshes his spell and steps back to examines the trap with Caius.

Before Caius can step on the pressure plate Marius holds out an arm to stop him. Kneeling down he points out to the other two an area that they seemed to have missed "If we'd have stepped on that it would've triggered the trap."

Satisfied that it is indeed dead he looks at Kyrus and then at the gnawed upon door "Given how intent that they were to get at us I don't think there are any more, otherwise they would have been here by now."

Marius, standing beside Dr Hibbins, turns his head at the sound "Uh, oh. That doesn't sound good." he says as fine crack begin to appear in the double doors. Thinking quickly he Yells "Everyone to move to the sides of the doors, I'm going to summon a patch of grease in front of them for when the little buggers break through."
