something else you may considere is going with brawler class this way you can still use light armor (or use mithral breast plate with armor expert trait). Look at the savage technologist barbarian archtype, when it rages it gets str and dex, so better ac
TriOmegaZero wrote: That's a PFS rule. Not standard. And Fox Shape isn't ARG anyway. can you link me this rule?
I thought that there was a comment somewhere that you could not use the Heritage Feat for anything in the advance race guide period
d20pfsrd.com wrote: This is now fixed. Note that the abilities WERE there, but they were formatted as separate class features, not a subset of the School Focus feature. Regardless, it is now corrected. Thanks Crazy Alchemist for reporting it! thanks, I notice this after some looking, but yes I was confuse because I thought they were separate features
David knott 242 wrote: Are you looking at this archetype on d20pfsrd.com? In the original book Advanced Class Origins, there are three mysteries indented under that ability to clearly show their subordinate status to School Focus. At 2nd level you pick one of them and begin gaining its benefits.
you are correct, I don't have the book
Thanks, I'll be playing non society with this guys anyways, I'll do a blacksmith kind of like the man with the iron fist
So this archetype has the following :
" School Focus (Ex)
At 2nd level, a winding path renegade continues the training she left behind, gaining the benefits of the mystery taught at her old monastery. As the winding path renegade progresses in her self-guided training, she gains deeper understanding of her chosen monastery's mystery, which grants her new powers."
Is this flavor text? Of those it serve a purpose?

so why is there a penalty for using a bow or crossbow, can someone point me in the right direction There isn't. It even says specifically that there is no penalty while using a bow or crossbow. I agree with you, but is there something else that supports this line of thought, as there is the argument that there is a penalty while using the hand that has the buckler as instate in the description
BUCKLER
Price 5 gp
Shield Bonus +1
This small metal shield is worn strapped to your forearm. You can use a bow or crossbow without penalty while carrying it. You can also use your shield arm to wield a weapon (whether you are using an off-hand weapon or using your off hand to help wield a two-handed weapon), but you take a –1 penalty on attack rolls while doing so. This penalty stacks with those that may apply for fighting with your off hand and for fighting with two weapons. In any case, if you use a weapon in your off hand, you lose the buckler's AC bonus until your next turn. You can cast a spell with somatic components using your shield arm, but you lose the buckler's AC bonus until your next turn. You can't make a shield bash with a buckler.
Well as mentioned by LazarX a lot of people think there is a penalty while using a buckler and a bow or crossbow. This is the case where I play, I just want to see what is the official rule
If there is a link or something on how this is supposed to work it would be appreciated
But Bucklers: You can use a one-handed or two-handed firearm without penalty while carrying a buckler.
But this line is the same for bows and crossbows, there in lays my confusion
So there is no penalty for using a buckler and any gun
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateCombat/combat/firearms.html#buck lers
so why is there a penalty for using a bow or crossbow, can someone point me in the right direction
Thanks, I guess here is hoping I run into a chainsaw boom, with the right character
Sniggevert wrote: Malokay wrote: Is Cybertech legal for PFS? Since that is part of the "Equipment" chapter, the answer was quoted in the post directly above yours...i.e. no equipment is legal unless found on a Chronicle. Thanks, so are they adding the note on the additional resources "equipment: not legal, unless found on a Chronicle"?
Is Cybertech legal for PFS?
People keep mentioning proficiency withthis weapon but the description doesn't mention this, like it does with the sawtooth saber or the aldoin blade. I think you still get the bonus even if you can't attack too well with it, and since grappling is a standard action and not an attack, using it should be fine
I'm running this on Monday and I have a couple of questions. At the last room, are the lava rivers 5 ft? so they need an acrobatic DC 5, with a running start, DC 10 without one. Since faction missions are not been done, what alerts the BBEG of their coming? steal vs. perception?
Want a non lawfull monk use an aasimar with the Enlightened Warrior (Aasimar)trait.
Enlightened Warrior (Aasimar)
You have always found it easy to maintain inner peace and enlightenment that translate well to the battlefield.
Benefit: You may take levels in monk even while maintaining a neutral or neutral good alignment.
EvilPaladin wrote: The Armour Expert trait is great for a light-armoured tank, since you can then use a Mithral Breastplate with no penalty. that's a great idea, thanks
so I take it that the feats and discoveries are good?
I know light armour can be bad for AC, but if I go typical crazy AC then enemy guess wise and just by-passes me, this way I can keep their attention, put a halt to crit and sneak attack with preserved organs, and use the "fast healing" of the combine spontaneous healing and healing touch. Plus I think that been a living mummy would be cool
thanks for all the comments, but by all means keep up the ideas
Also keep in mind he can drink a mutagen to get +2 nat armor and use a wand of shield
RainyDayNinja wrote: How are you getting the weapon proficiency (and if you're tanking, I assume you'll want more than light armor as well)?
Dumping Wis is a bad idea, since you already have bad Will saves. Although a hedgehog tumor familiar can help a bit.
If you really want to tank, you should go with a Dex build, take discoveries for extra natural attacks, and pick up an agile amulet of mighty fists ASAP.
Half-Orcs are proficient with great axes.
I guess I could go:
Str: 17 (racial here)
Dex: 14
Con: 14
Int: 14
Wis: 12
Cha: 7
and at lvl 3 I could get medium armor prof
but I want strength high to keep damage output at an okay level to keep interest on me.
dont really want to do natural attacks
Alchemist tank build (PFS legal)
Half-Orc, full time alchemist (since I want mummification at lvl 10)
Great axe as weapon of choice
Str: 18 (racial here)
Dex: 14
Con: 14
Int: 14
Wis: 9
Cha: 7
Traits: reactionary and something else, maybe indomitable faith
Lvl’s
1. Feat: Ferocious Resolve (gain the ferocity universal moster ability)
2. Discovery: preserved organs (25% negate sneak attacks and crits)
3. Feat: extra discovery (preserved organs, 50% negate sneak attacks and crits)
4. Discovery: lingering spirit
5. Feat: Power attack
6. Discovery: Wings (or something else)
7. Feat: extra discovery (preserved organs, 75% negate sneak attacks and crits)
8. Discovery: open (thinking of spontaneous healing, to add healing touch latter)
9. Feat: open (thinking of healing touch, to double up on spontaneous healing)
10. Discovery: mummification
11. Feat: open
Any thoughts?
So the Skulking Slayer (Rogue; Half-orc) at 2nd level, can select the Surprise Follow-Through feat in place of a rogue talent. But the feat reads as follow: Surprise Follow-Through (Combat, Orc/Half-Orc)
When striking one opponent, you catch its ally off guard.
Prerequisites: Str 13, Cleave, Power Attack, base attack bonus +1.
Benefit: When using Cleave or Great Cleave, the second foe you attack on your turn is denied its Dexterity bonus against you.
Okay so at level 1 you can take power attack, then at level 2 you take the bonus feat, nice feat to get at level 2 but how can you use it if you don't have cleave yet, or can this be use without cleaving since it is a bonus feat.
Can some one clarify this for me?
thanks
