Male Elf Magus (Mindblade Archtype)
Sorry, work and college have been kicking my ass Ari: Madoline gives a coy grin and looks away. "Oh, this is so embarrassing, but... I like practicing my archery in the hunting grounds." She looks as if the simple act of sharing this fact made her seem less ladylike. Sitko Perception Check Please.

Ari: Mqdoline thinks for a second, and sighs. "Sorry Ari. I'm as lost about the young Master as you are. My contract was handled by the head maid. I've never met Lord Morningstar myself, though I heard he's quite eccentric and enjoys ideas of creativity. As for why you're here, I've heard some of the older maids talking about how the Master gets bored with the same old faces of the staff. Perhaps Lord Morningstar is looking for some new companions. Or maybe, he's looking for something q bit more..." She pauses for a moment, as if thinking about what would be the right word. "Personal"
Male Elf Magus (Mindblade Archtype)
The young woman extends a powder-white hand and and shakes the hand offered with a slight giggle. Madoline, and no, I'm actually a new maid here at the manor. Lord Morningstar was in need of staff, and I was in need of money. Between his deep pockets and my classical training, it's almost as if I was destined to work for the young master. Madoline tosses her towel to the pool-side chair, unconcerned about her body being exposed, and moves closer to her new Orc friend. And don't worry about your fangs. I think they look cute on you. And if you don't mind, I'd prefer if you call me Madie when I'm not on the clock. Friends should feel comfortable around each other.

Lady Arianne Thornhild wrote: How are you envisioning the game playing out? If we're looking to explore the mansion or talk to the staff, we will need more to react to along the way. I can't act without knowing what I might have encountered based on my previous action - or are we supposed to be stating future plans and then you will alert us to anything of note that comes up based on that? You have a point. If I don't allow interactions between you and the staff, this game will go nowhere fast. How about this then... My, she was rather rude. As if she had any room to talk about appearance. A rather young woman walked through the steam of the bathhouse, covering herself with a crisp white towel. She moves gracefully to the edge of the pool and slowly lowers herself into the hot water, giving a slow sigh of relief. I do hope you don't take what they say to heart. You are more lovely than they, or even you think. Simply judging you on your looks is their problem, not yours my friend.

Lady Arianne Thornhild wrote: I'm waiting to find out if I meet anyone in the bathhouse before I act again. Just act natural. Take a nap or place a twirl over your eyes. I need you to not notice his entrance. I can even GM it so that you were sound asleep when the foxy ladies said their off color remarks.

Luke takes an apple and starts cutting a chunk off. After severing the bit, he raises it to his mouth with the blade and eats it. "Oh, I do a little bit of everything around here. Some of the staff has either passed away from sickness or age, or left in a bout of young passion. No mater how you slice it though, it all means more work for the handymen. Oh well, beats getting lazy. "As for that whole discomfort thing, don't worry. I've been here a long time. You'll see this place isn't so bad after a while. I'm sure you'll find something you enjoy." Luke wipes his hands on hi overalls, rubbing off the dirt and apple juice from his hands. "Well, I must be off. Never could stand being this dirty for too long. I'm sure we'll meet again, but until then, farewell my new friend."
Male Elf Magus (Mindblade Archtype)
"That it is. My great great grandfather planted it as a young boy while he tended the land in this area. Not long after, the manor was built, and the tree stuck around to see the building done. My father said there were never any sweeter apples then the ones from this tree. My name is Luke, by the way. Nice to meet you." The man extends a dirty hand.

Basic room layout: Large king sized bed against the northern wall, with mahogany night stands on each side. To the left (when facing the bed) is the door to the private bath. The eastern (or western wall if you chose a room on the left side of the hall) is all one big glass door, each opening to a balcony overlooking the gardens, (or staff house on the west side, though it too is very lavish). There are two large lavender armchairs near a small fireplace, and a small bookshelf sits opposite the bed. Scenic portraits are dotted across all three walls.
Male Elf Magus (Mindblade Archtype)
"But of course. The guest rooms are just up the stairs and in the left wing. Feel free to choose any room you like. Some have two beds if any of you would like to share a room, but most have a single bed. Each room has a small private bath, while there is also a larger group bath house just outside in the back gardens. The Master is quite fond of relaxing there with guests, so he always simply bathes there by choice." The old man checks his pocket watch, and addresses the group. "Now then, if you will all excuse me, I have matters that need attending. If you need any help or information, simply ring the small silver bell in each room. All staff wear enchanted rings that allow them to appear instantly in the room that the bell was rung, provided they were the closest one. All in all, I hope you all enjoy your stay, and bid you good day."
Male Elf Magus (Mindblade Archtype)
The old man chuckled roughly at the offer.
Male Elf Magus (Mindblade Archtype)
The old man turns to the group, pulls out a pocket watch, and checks the time.
He turns and takes out a golden key this time, and unlocks the large oak door, and silently pushes it open. The gestures for you all to enter. Inadequate is a massive foyer filled with exotic paintings from all around the world. Some depict bloody battle and horrible cases of death, while others show peaceful glades, or scenes of people enjoying a sunny afternoon. There are many doors on both the left and right walls, each closed and with a silver nob. On the norther wall is a grand staircase bade of strong dark oak, the handrails gilded with a dull gold. However, between the front door and the stairs, right in the middle of the room, is a large brass poll that goes from the floor all the way into a large hole In the ceiling.

Hennry returns the bow Ayaki. " No apologies necessary, I assure you. Now then, do you have your invitation? If so, please allow me to have it, and if you could please place all but a single weapon into the chest, that would be much appreciated. The old butler pulls out a small silver box and opens it. Inside are six cigars. "This is somewhat of a habit the young master's father has set apon me, but may I offer you all a cigar? The three on the left are of high quality tobacco, while the three on the right are of similar make, but have undergone a process to absorb pesh to enhance the flavor. Feel free to enjoy either, as the master has plenty in his private gardens."
Male Elf Magus (Mindblade Archtype)
The old man turns first to Ben. "There is not anything we can do about those who wield spells as their weapon, but I must beg you not to use such power if possible while in the master's presence. He is quite a superstitious man, and dislikes arcane magic. When on your own, you are free to cast spells as you please." Then he turns to Ari. "My dear lady, but of course! The master is a master huntsman, and he has quite a large hunting grounds in the rear of his manor. You will be allowed to hunt as long as you like, though the hunting weapons will be provided just before you depart. I assure you, my master has traveled all around the world, and has collected every weapon used to hunt since the dawn of the age, from spears to a modern musket. I hope you will enjoy the game we have to offer." Suddenly the man looks around some what panicked. "Oh my, it seems there is someone missing! Master told me there were to be Five guests. Wee seem to be missing one Ayaki. None of you might happen to know where she may be, would you?"
Male Elf Magus (Mindblade Archtype)
Taking the invitations, the old man looks up and down over the attendees.
The old man turns and slides a crystal key into the lock of the gate, and slowly pushes it open. On the other side, a massive villa looms ahead. It's walls appear to be made of polished black stone, almost as if it were shadow given physical form. An imposing pair of Crimson doors stands before you all. Beside it is a large chest. "I must ask you to place all but your most desired weapon in the trunk here. Worry not, they will be quite safe in the master's private chamber."
Male Elf Magus (Mindblade Archtype)
As the five guests make their approach towards the manor gates, a rather old man stands alone beside it. He waits for all the guests to gather around before he made an announcement. "Welcome, ladies and good gentleman. I greet you on Lord Morningstars behalf. I am his trusted retainer, Hennry L. Krafft. I have served my master for many years, just as I had his predecessors before him. I am here to collect your invitations, and after that, inform you of the rules you must follow during your stay. Now then," he says holding out a gloved hand, "May I have your names please?"
@Ben I love how you pulled a riches to rags to blue collar with him. Also, I love that every character so far seems to have a way to find clues/ get answers. For everyone: Keep up the good work. Just letting you know that I am thinking of taking this game past Lv 1 and planning a few fights ahead of time. I say this to prevent you from neglecting combat abilities in favor of those that would help find clues. Love what I see so far, and to any others who want to submit entries, remember to have fun with it!
This game will use a 20-point buy system to allow a greater spread of abilities. I ask that players refrain from min-maxing, but if you can play it well in roleplay, I might let it pass. All characters will begin at Level 1 with maximum health. Should this game continue on past first level, roll to determine how much extra health you get. You may roll 1 extra Hit dice for your HP rolls per constitution modifier and take the highest die rolled. For starting gold, you will start with twice average for your class, or you may roll, and double the end result. I do this because the idea for this game is that you are all well off and have been invited to a special event at the manor. In terms of equipment, I ask that you start with only light armor, or preferably no armor at all. This gives sense that you didn't come for a fight. All races and classes in Official Paizo products are allowed. Same goes for equipment. I would like to see how some classes can be incorporated into being low level nobility. Finally, all players are give 2 additional skill points for background skill. Note: Craft (Alchemy) and any Preform are main skills for Alchemists and bards respectively. This gives you a chance to give your character a job that got them to this point in their life. (Side note: I love seeing odd crafts and professions, such as basket weaving and cook) And I think that about covers it. I thank any who post for taking interest, and appologize for any inconveniences my forgetfulness has caused from lacking to give this information in the beginning. I hope to see some good ideas, and hope we all can have a good time.
I'm finding it extreamly amusing that everyone thought Malian was a woman. @ Selena Snoe Yelizaveta The reason he had to beg wasn't because he wanted to train at all, it was to be trained in the use of every martial and simple weapon. He was freely taught, and expected to learn, how to fight with the usual Elvan weapons, but had to beg to train beond that due to the fact that no one in the caravan expected him to fight, or leave. Also, thank you for pointing out all of those errors, and I will gladly fix them after work. Thank you all for the feedback. Please continue to help me learn to be the best I can.
@Traveller Elbin Thank you for the feedback. Your actually the second person to think Malian was a woman. Not really sure why that is, but it's no big deal. As for Lez, his reaction came from the fact that he had no idea how to respond to her advances. He spent most of his time training, and all the girls in the caravan either grew old for being humans, or were more like sisters to him. When Lez asked to be proposed to, Malian had no experience on how to handle this. Lez then left before he could give a proper answer, so that act, along with the five years of being close to one another, lead to her leaving a strong impression on his life. I hope this clears up some things.
Excuse me everyone, but I would just like to say that I've re-done my 10 min extra backstory. All of the new pieces are under the spoiler "Pieces of the past" on Malian's profile. I'm looking for feedback, and would like to know what you all think. I've seen an amazing amount of great characters, and would be very greatful to learn any tips. Thank you for your time.
@Jesse Heining I can understand where your coming from. You don't want to end up in the situation of "Forcing the circle block through the square hole." You want your character to feel more natural rather than molded to conform to pre-set parameters. The thing here is, it not only adds more to the character, as most of the points are naturally occurring parts of their lives, but give more material for the GM to use in their game. The only difference between telling the GM that your character has a habit of unknowingly sharpening sticks into wooden stakes because the sight of his family being killed by vampires traumatized him and saying it at some point in the story is it lets the GM plan ahead to make an event important to that aspect. I'm not trying to tell you to stay and do it by any means. I'm just asking that you try to understand why he asked for these parameters in the first place.
@GM Frosty Haha, that's quite alright. This is your post and far be it from me to try and run it. I can definitely see what you mean though, having people get attached to their characters and not being able to play them does seem rather cruel, and I never had any intention beond seeing new writing styles and learning more about how others play. That being said, I retract what I said about a "Tavern Rest", and appologize for any inconveniences it may have caused you. Also, and this is only a minor detail, but I am a Male elf, not female. As a general rule of thumb, I only make male characters. Not because I hate the idea of playing as a female, as I have ended up finishing a few campaigns as one when playing some of my friend's Home-brew games and found the unique differences rather enjoyable, but because it is easier for me to understand the mindset of a fellow man so that I may act out his actions more naturally. I thank you for your time, and may Desna bless the path you choose.
