Thanks for the game everyone, especially PDK for putting up with high-level shenanigans and to WoTC and Glaube for joining us when things looked more dire.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to everyone!

The Exchange

Thanks for gming. Definitely ready for 2021 ... I just need a bit more patience :)

Mal is glad they defeated the devils and takes Brother up on his offer of sparing. He quickly discovers why masters of the crane style do not duel each other as neither is capable of landing a solid blow.

The Exchange

Already posted Mal's turn, fervor cast (swift action) blessed fist and standard action activate artiface blessing.

It doesn't look like he'll suffer a melee attack, but if he does, his AC is 45 against the first attack and 32 otherwise. He makes 3 AoOs if the first attack is a miss.

The Exchange

Mal tries to get out of the way in his staggered condition.
reflex: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (9) + 29 = 38
spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16

Hard to take my turn before I know what's happened. Tentatively Mal would fervor cast blessed fist to make his fist overcome good DR. If there is a physical object responsible for the 'trapping', and at least one ally is trapped, Mal would call on Torag's artifice Blessing to make his fist overcome all hardness. If Mal does this, his AC is 8 lower, but he will attempt to parry the first melee attack against him, see below spoiler. If no allies are trapped (or whatever is trapping them isn't a physical object), he will just punch the nearest one

Attack Roll, if no physical barrier:

Mal asks Torag to bless his fist as he proceeds to fight in his signature styles once more.

Note about Crane Style/Snake Style and out of turn reactions:

Mal Fought defensively this turn, so his AC vs. melee attacks is 4 higher due to crane wing, unless an attack is within 4 of the improved AC. If this is the case, per Crane Riposte, this provokes an attack of opportunity, and his AC is no longer improved against melee attacks. Furthermore, if an attack is attempted against him and it misses, it provokes an attack of opportunity per Snake Fang. If this attack hits, Mal can attempt an additional unarmed strike as an immediate action. Mal commonly, but not always, takes this immediate action attack. Usually the reason he wouldn't take the immediate action is that he intends to use his swift next round to either fervor cast a spell, activate bane, or extend his reach. Any relevant AoO's are rolled below.

The Exchange

Mal starts to hum a catchy tune as brother looks increasingly heroic.

The Exchange

That was my first thought. Other way first Mal shruggs.

The Exchange

Mal suggests again One person should deal with it. Don't need everyone in the midst of a deadly trap!

The Exchange

Mal tries to warn his allies Come back here and let's find the damned trigger! before one of succumbs to the trap.

The Exchange

Glaube really takes this see no evil thing to heart.

Mal carefully looks for the source of the magic flash, intent on finding a foe to defeat or a ward to disable.

perception: 1d20 + 32 ⇒ (16) + 32 = 48

The Exchange

If others are ready to move on Mal obliges

The Exchange

Mal starts chronicling on the frescoes, clearly not something he'd seen about Aroden before.

Wonder what Adellas had against the god of humanity…

The Exchange

Glad we didn't get melted... Aye, Amazing treasure sounds like a plan...

The Exchange

Suffice it to say, I think we failed our int checks... both in and out of character.

It looks like we were teleported out of the tomb. Earlier, we intentionally subjected ourselves to a teleportation effect (if I remember correctly). Perhaps this teleportation has something to do with that?

The Exchange

Int: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

The Exchange

Mal takes a moment and tests what's' real,' the ground, the air, trying to detect if this is truly teleportation or a fanciful flight of a sorcerer's imagination.

Detecting no malfescence, beyond whatever has brought him here, he hurries to the wizard, hoping to find answers. He looks rather distraught that whatever happened seemed to leave several of the pathfinders behind.

What in the ForgeFather's name happened?!

The Exchange

Wizard of the Coast wrote:
As long as they stay out of the locked cabinets, drawers and chests, they should be safe until we can get them out of here)

This is what I thought of as you said that.

The Exchange

Mal volunteers, I can stand back with them and protect them while you explore the next crypt. It seems unconscionable to leave them to fend for themselves or to bring them into new danger.

Does Kel have a rope trick or something similar that we could use?

The Exchange

A dominated Thrag is not good. I am definitely getting scrolls of protection from evil after this adventure, maybe even preparing the spell...

If anyone can do something about that, I highly suggest doing so before we find out how PDK's bad guys feel when Thrag is in full attack range.

The Exchange

Mal deals magic, piercing damage with his +3 unarmed strike.

The Exchange

That healing ain't natural, nor is whats going on with Thrag. I best trust our Sarenrite!

Mal takes Glaube at his word that nothing good is going on and activates his blue scarf, allowing his blows to hit from impossible range. He executes a full attack on the malevolent, clearly confused, 'mother' as her skull patches itself up.

The Exchange

Glaube said to incapacitate but I can’t see Mal attacking a confused person without overly hostile intentions, and my sense motor didn’t pick up on that.

My first thought was to try a protection from evil spell incase she is possessed, but Mal doesn’t have that spell and she just took a ThragHammer, so I’m guessing we’re going into initiative.

I need to buy more scrolls.

The Exchange

I’m deeply suspicious but I don’t have any solutions. Anyone else?

The Exchange

Mall’s sense motive got nothing, and the knowledge (and general lack of humans in the necropolis) suggests nothing good. Any thoughts on what we should do? They seem to mostly be ignoring us, beyond asking to go to the surface.

The Exchange

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Did she ignore Thrag’s last question? I am trying not to ask multiple questions since she ignores more than one

The Exchange

Our navigator is back that way, we best wait 12 seconds for him... Mal suggests, thinking their reintroduction is oddly brief.

It’ll be a miracle if they, or some ‘benefactor’ of theirs, doesn’t try to kill us before we get out

The Exchange

Not much for fashion myself, just the most functional monk’s robes I could find. What was your name? Your daughters? Where are they? Why did you come here, and why months apart? Mal asks, concerned the most logical answers for the necropolis still involve this being a spirit, and those ‘months’ being a good deal more.

The Exchange

sense motive: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (7) + 28 = 35
Mal is mistrustful, thinking this might be yet another spirit, but if it is, maybe it can be soothed instead of angered.

Are you ok, what are your daughters names?

The Exchange

Mal follows behind Thrag.

Takes 12 damage from cold resistance, for a total of 20

Mal happily accepts Glaube's healing.

I'll take a wall o' ice over a wall o' force any day... Well done, all! Mal comments on the devil's abilities compared to the earlier fiends.

I hear some spells let ya speak with the dead, but usually only if they want to talk to ya... or if you're a much more powerful servant of your god than I am. Mal comments on Kel's suggestion.

The Exchange

I grew up in the pacific northwest, and I don't recall forest fires much. These past few years, we've seen extensive fires. I really hope that things get better, but it doesn't seem likely. Doing anything to help seems like a great idea!

The Exchange
