...yes they have internet cafes in tijuana, even starbucks-- which had free internet, but $5 coffee, so it was the same diff. and to be completely honest it was $5 a day. i went back for an hour on 3 different days. so i was exaggerating a little. point being, i think i had the most limited internet access of anyone. couldn't borrow a friends computer, or use one at work, for example. still, i am the most recent poster in gameplay. which makes me a little sad.

One would still need to listen closely to hear Makiko whisper her thoughts aloud. Thank you, Master Guardian. It is just taking me some time to adjust. Yesterday my biggest concern was hunting rabbits. I have no idea how to hunt Jade Regents. And if he felt tremors, and is now hunting us... I have no experience with this at all. But it seems to me that a straight shot to the Jade Regent would go poorly for us. Perhaps there are smaller targets we can hunt to grow stronger first?

Allowing burning curiosity to overcome hesitancy, Makiko blurts out, M-Master Guardian, a thousand pardons, but we are not even sure what force brought us here, or even where "here" is. And if, as we believe her highness... she pauses to rephrase at a look from Seori, er, Seori, is the rightful heir, we will need proof, and we will need the strength to back our claim. Do you have wisdom on any of these questions?

Makiko muses to herself as they walk towards the graveyard. I am curious, perhaps the old guardian will know how we got... here... wherever here is, from the monastery. But, I don't wish to endanger... Princess Seori by asking. If my... deformities become known, it may keep the Guardian from helping the Princess. She nervously checks again that her wig is securely covering her feathers. It is strange that the graveyard is so well-kept. You may have to strain to hear her soft voice. The few I've seen are all overgrown. Someone tends the dead with caring.

Still not clear on where "here" is relative to "there". Is this a dream plane? Is it another part of Golarion? Visions of the past? Things that are happening now? And it sounds reasonable that for some reason that our missing party members never made the transition from there to here with us.

Uncomfortable speaking with others, Makiko mostly thinks aloud.Well as we figure everything out, I guess we should try to figure out where we are, and where we're supposed to go, and what we're supposed to do next. Keep Seori safe from the Regent, I guess. Prove that she's the Heir, maybe. But how would we do that? We're nothing but a bunch of... Makiko drifts off as soon as she notices anyone listening to her. So you really didn't know, er, y-your highness? Makiko is unsure how to address Seori at this point.

Makiko's eyes grow wide as she looks several times from the vision to the girl she's known for years and back again. You? You were the Heir? All this time? Uncertain how to respond, she kneels and bows clumsily. Her words are also clumsy, but carry the intensity of a vow. Whatever I can do to help you, I will.

On the contrary, I'm quite enjoying the getting-to-know-you roleplaying. I've always felt a little cheated by the "you've been friends since childhood and one day you go out and kick butt together like a well oiled machine" scenarios. I like that our characters have 3 dimensions besides our ability to do damage in combat. And BTW-- Makiko isn't human, but she is trying to pass herself off as one. It's probably close enough as far as Mamoru's concerned.

Makiko whispers as she thinks aloud, Are these the events that led to the Jade Regent, becoming... well... the Regent? Did he betray his friend to assume the post? But what does he fear from the monks? From the monastery? Surely we are no threat to him, whatever he's done.

Makiko tilts her head and looks about quizicly. A chest of jewels beneath a simple monastery? A vision of the past? An invasion by the Jade Regent? What does it all mean? Perhaps we should follow Seori. She says softly. There is much we don't know, but we must outrun the Regent if we are going to get any answers.

Was waiting to see if Taliv made a return and wanted to open the chest. It appears not. Startled by their sudden awakening, Makiko will say quietly Mai Seori-san, Yumi-Ken-san, are you both alright? I had feared that... Seeing Taliv lying dead she gasps, Taliv! Oh Taliv... I am sorry I failed you. She seems not to have noticed the jewels or Mamoru's scavenging thru the chest.

Makiko runs over to see if there's anything she can do for Yumi or Mai. Embarrassed, she'll check their belongings for a healing draught. Does anyone think there m-might be something to help them in that chest? I wish Taliv was here. He could make sure there are no traps on it. As if the guardian wasn't enough of a trap by himself.

Frustrated and worried for her teammates, Makiko is determined to land even a token blow against the creature. She will kick with each foot. Attack 1: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 - 4 = 1
Attack 2: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 4 = 5
Edit: Really? 3 "1's" in a row? The paizo dice hate me. But good job, Mamo.

Startled by her suddenly larger size, Makiko glances at Tampala-san with understanding. This is most...uselful. She will move quickly to flank the Guardian with Mamoru, amused that he is not quite as frightening from her new vantage. Makiko will hold her attack, and wait for a signal to proceed from Mamoru, lest she interrupt a dual of honor. Shall I? what are the to hit and damage bonuses from Enlarge Person?

when its her next turn... Makiko feels a pang at seeing Mai Seori go down. Such a noble warrior to be felled by such a creature. I wish I could help her. I suppose getting rid of these horrible things is the only way. With new resolve Makiko deals a spinning kick to her new assailant.

With a quick intake of breath at the guardian's sudden leap to motion, Makiko lets 2 arrows fly at the nearest skeleton: Attack 1:1d20 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 1 - 1 = 17
Damage 1:1d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 1 = 4

Makiko bows again mutely, and prepares to follow the others. I am being asked to leave, but not for the reason I expected. Will I ever know a home? This is a good place. And the monks almost made me feel useful. I don't think I'm ready to guard something and elude the Jade Regent. I hope the others are better prepared than I. She surveys the group dubiously.

DundjinnMasta wrote: “I found soldiers on the road. They are coming for the monastery.” At these words Makiko goes completely still. It would be difficult to find even her breath or her heart beat. A great storm is coming. It will swallow us all, large or small. It would seem wisest to go to ground, wait for it to pass. To fly in its face would be reckless. But could there be a way to ride the wind?
