Good point. I guess this is a wash.

So....do we look for a new GM or just cut our losses?

So we're about a week away from it being a full month since the GM's last post, which doesn't bode well. Hopefully they're okay, and not caught in one of those areas currently devastated by storms, but it looks like we're caught in the irony of being picked for a game that'll never get started, while the people picked from the leftover applications have a game that's happily chugging away.

@ Tara Ravenheart, any idea on when we're likely to get going?

Synopsis:
As a Spelldancer, Lythrana is the perfect combination of her Sword Dancer of Eilistraee, and Cormyran War Wizard parents. To her movement and magic are inexorably bound with one being an expression of the other. She is filled with an innate font of magical energy, the living Weave, that she expresses through her spelldancing, both with dynamic motion effects and enhancing her weapon. (Able to use her Arcane Pool in a variety of ways to enhance herself, weapons and defenses)

Though born, raised and trained in Waterdeep, her inherent borderline hyperactivity and need to travel, learn and explore has thaken her towards her father’s homeland, the fabled Cormyr and the associated Eastern Heartlands in search of adventure.

Hey everybody delighted to be here! And thank you for having me Tara!

yep also gone are the days of Schwarzenegger/Stallone's invulnerable hero who barely has a scratch by the end of the movie. Today's heroes are more like John McLaine.

They're not untouchable, and as amazing as they are, things aren't always easy. John Wick gets shot, stabbed, kicked down multiple flights of stairs etc. Sometimes it's how hard the battle is for the hero that makes it amazing.

That's a great assessment Slowdrifter. It's like playing the human fighter in a party where every other character has crazy racial/spell-like/supernatural abilities, or everyone else is a spellcaster.

It requires another level of RP to make the character interesting, and if done well makes the character more impressive by comparison.

In the wake of a dragon's breath, the wizard surrounded by a shimmering field of protection, druid who took elemental form, and paladin in heavy armor dripping with "divine" everything as protection aren't anywhere near as scary as the human fighter standing there, cloak still on fire, clearly singed, angrily looking at the one responsible.

That's awesome!

Oaky I think everything is complete. Looking at the sheet I note that I'm actually the absolute bottom of the stat rolls. The dice gods went insane on this recruitment, lol.

-------------------------------------
BACKGROUND & APPEARANCE
-------------------------------------:

Lythrana Bayle
Height: 5'4 Wt: 122lbs Hair: Silver Eyes: Violet Skin: Dusky Grey-lavender
Visual appearance: Notably half-drow with a sleek dancer’s body, wearing light armor and carrying a beautifully crafted, mithral sword. In daylight she practically always has the hood of her cloak up and tries to stay out of the direct midday sunlight as much as possible.
Aside for the tell-tale incidental scars from the nicks and cuts associated with spending a long time working with the sword and various bladed weapons, the most notable would be the arcane sigil for “movement” tattooed in the small of her back.
Lythrana moves like a dancer, every movement is fluid and elegant. Once in conversation with her for a while, she’s far more intelligent than her first impression might lead one to believe, since she can be rather impulsive

Background:
Born in Waterdeep and raised by her parents, (her mother) a Sword Dancer of Eilistraee, and (her father) a retired Cormyran War Wizard, Lythrana was raised to embrace both magic and dance, finding in the practice of both disciplines, an indescribable beauty and freedom that allow her to fully express herself in a way nothing else ever has.
To Lythrana, The Weave is alive, and through her movement, when she slipped into a battledance, feeling the flow of it around her, she transcended the mundane. With her continued study, she found movement to be the key to influencing the forces of the world around her. The young magus feels closest to Eilistraee when dancing to embrace her magic, seeing magic, dancing, and combat all as a fluid meditation that connects to something beyond the everyday mundane world.
Her wanderlust and hunger for knowledge have led her to adventuring, seeking to help those in need, embrace life and the inherent magic and beauty of movement. As a warrior-mage, she brings both arcane expertise and martial might to any group that she is a part of, and uses her expertise both to earn a living, and expose herself to the vast world of knowledge and experiences that exist.

Flaw::

Spending any substantial amount of time with her, one would notice that she is definitely hyperactive, finding the idea of confinement or being physically restrained, abjectly terrifying.
Extended periods of inactivity tend to leave her agitated, and she finds it near impossible to remain completely still. She feels like she’s not fully living if she isn’t in motion, and forced stagnation has a profound effect on her emotional state. On a related note, she tends to find irritation with indecisiveness, or those who willingly choose inaction in situations that call for something to be done.

Still a work in progress,(gear etc..) but I present Lythrana Bayle, half-drow Spelldancer Magus, daughter of a Sword Dancer of Elistree and a retired Cormyran war wizard.

Driven by her boundless energy, and hunger for both experiences and knowledge, her favorite thing is to lose herself in the magic of battledancing.

Her flaw is both her hyperactivity and impulsiveness, bordering on recklessness, despite her brilliance. She actually comes off as less intelligent than she actually is because of it.

I'll be reapplying with Lythrana Bayle, half drow spell dancer magus. I'll update her to level 2 Tuesday, when I get back from a family road trip to Washington, D.C.

Half drow in my case. lol

Drow Sword Dancer + Human Wizard = Half-Drow Magus (spell dancer)

It was too perfect to pass up.

Ironically, Lythrana's mother is a Sword Dancer of Eilistraee

I'm good to go.

@ Stormraven the link for Lythrana doesn't lead to anything

The Elven Reincarnation thing was mentioned in the original editions and dropped before 3rd edition. With 5th edition Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, pretty much did a total revamp on Elven Lore emphasizing Reincarnation

Yeah join the fun. We all have some great characters

Definitely some interesting characters and great potential for character interaction given some of the backstory connections that can be pieced together. Quite a few characters have something in common with another.

20 Questions:

1. What is your character’s name?
Lythrana Bayle

2. How old is your character?
26

3. What would somebody see at first glance (i.e. height, weight, skin color, eye color, hair color, physique, race, and visible equipment)?
Height: 5'8 Wt: 122lbs Hair: Silver Eyes: Violet Skin: Dusky Grey-lavender. Notably half-drow with a sleek dancer’s body, wearing light armor and carrying a beautifully crafted, silver bladed sword. In daylight she practically always has the hood of her cloak up and tries to stay out of the direct midday sunlight as much as possible.

4. What additional attributes would be noticed upon meeting the character (i.e. Speech, mannerisms)?
She moves like a dancer, every movement is fluid and elegant. Once in conversation with her for a while, she’s far more intelligent than her first impression might lead one to believe, since she can be rather impulsive.

5. Where was your character born? Where were you raised? By who?
Born in Waterdeep and raised by her parents.

6. Who are your parents? Are they alive? What do they do for a living?
Her mother is a Sword Dancer of Eilistraee, and her father a retired Cormyran War Wizard. Both are still alive, and it is partially at her mother’s request after dark dreams, that she is looking into the happenings in Silvermoon Glade

7. Do you have any other family or friends?
No other family. A few friends, and acquaintances, but between her study of magic, and adventuring, she hasn’t made any long-term attachments, meeting new people regularly.

8. What is your character’s marital status? Kids?
Single. No children.

9. What is your character’s alignment?
Chaotic Good. Rules, and even laws don’t matter anywhere near as much as doing the right thing.

10. What is your character’s moral code?
Help those in need, embrace life and the inherent magic and beauty of movement. Loyalty to those that are close to her, or support her.

11. Does your character have goals?
Learn as much of magic as she can, grow and develop her study of spell dance. See more of the world and explore.

12. Is your character religious?
Yes, not extremely so, but her mother is a cleric, and she feels close to Eilistraee when dancing to embrace her magic. She sees magic, dancing, and combat all as a fluid meditation that connects to something beyond the everyday mundane world.

13. What are your character’s personal beliefs?
The weave is alive and through her movement, when she slips into a battledance and can feel the flow of it around her, she transcends the mundane. Movement is the key to influencing the forces of the world around her.

14. Does your character have any personality quirks (i.e. anti-social, arrogant, optimistic, paranoid)?
Optimistic, definitely a bit hyperactive. She feels like she’s not fully living if she isn’t in motion.

15. Why does your character adventure? Why did your character accept the job?
Her wanderlust and hunger for knowledge have led her to adventuring. This job is important to her, because her mother, told her about dark dreams she’s had recently involving the moon, and some sort of shadowfall.

16. How does your character view his/her role as an adventurer?
As a warrior-mage, she brings both arcane expertise and martial might to any group that she is a part of, and uses her expertise both to earn a living, and expose herself to the vast world of knowledge and experiences that exist.

17. Does your character have any distinguishing marks (birth-marks, scars, deformities)?
Aside for the tell-tale incidental scars from the nicks and cuts associated with spending a long time working with the sword and various bladed weapons, the most notable would be the arcane sigil for “movement” tattooed in the small of her lower back.

18. How does your character get along with others?
Usually pretty easygoing, and generally looks to act in the best interest of others.

19. Is there anything that your character hates?
Extended periods of inactivity tend to leave her agitated. On a related note, she tends to find irritation with indecisiveness, or those who willingly choose inaction in situations that call for something to be done.

20. Is there anything that your character fears?
While not necessarily a fear, the idea of extended time in a wide open region like a desert, without shade or shelter, constantly exposed to the sun is stressful to say the least. The only real fear, at least one that she has acknowledged, would be a fear of losing either her magic, or her freedom to move.

Mark here updating with character so far (background questions in progress)
