About Luna ValeLuna Vale
Blessings (3/day) (Su) - A warpriest’s deity influences his alignment, what magic he can perform, his values, and how others see him. Each warpriest can select two blessings from among those granted by his deity. A warpriest can select an alignment blessing (Chaos, Evil, Good, or Law) only if his alignment matches that domain. If a warpriest isn’t devoted to a particular deity, he still selects two blessings to represent his spiritual inclinations and abilities, subject to GM approval. The restriction on alignment domains still applies. Each blessing grants a minor power at 1st level and a major power at 10th level. A warpriest can call upon the power of his blessings a number of times per day (in any combination) equal to 3 + 1/2 his warpriest level (to a maximum of 13 times per day at 20th level). Each time he calls upon any one of his blessings, it counts against his daily limit. The save DC for these blessings is equal to 10 + 1/2 the warpriest’s level + the warpriest’s Wisdom modifier. Elf Blood - Half-elves count as both elves and humans for any effect related to race. Elven Immunities - Sleep - You are immune to magic sleep effects. Favored Enemy (Evil Outsiders +2) (Ex) - At 1st level, a ranger selects a creature type from the ranger favored enemies table. He gains a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against creatures of his selected type. Likewise, he gets a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against them. A ranger may make Knowledge skill checks untrained when attempting to identify these creatures. At 5th level and every five levels thereafter (10th, 15th, and 20th level), the ranger may select an additional favored enemy. In addition, at each such interval, the bonus against any one favored enemy (including the one just selected, if so desired) increases by +2. If the ranger chooses humanoids or outsiders as a favored enemy, he must also choose an associated subtype, as indicated on the table below. If a specific creature falls into more than one category of favored enemy, the ranger's bonuses do not stack; he simply uses whichever bonus is higher. Focus Weapon - At 1st level, a warpriest receives Weapon Focus as a bonus feat (he can choose any weapon, not just his deity’s favored weapon). Low-Light Vision - A half-elf can see twice as far as a human in dim light, distinguishing color and detail. Sacred Weapon (Su) - At 1st level, weapons wielded by a warpriest are charged with the power of his faith. In addition to the favored weapon of his deity, the warpriest can designate a weapon as a sacred weapon by selecting that weapon with the Weapon Focus feat; if he has multiple Weapon Focus feats, this ability applies to all of them. Whenever the warpriest hits with his sacred weapon, the weapon damage is based on his level and not the weapon type. The warpriest can decide to use the weapon’s base damage instead of the sacred weapon damage—this must be declared before the attack roll is made. (If the weapon’s base damage exceeds the sacred weapon damage, its damage is unchanged.) This increase in damage does not affect any other aspect of the weapon, and doesn’t apply to alchemical items, bombs, or other weapons that only deal energy damage. Track +1 - A ranger adds half his level (minimum 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow or identify tracks. Background:
Luna and her twin sister Astra were born to Galen and Elvara Vale, two well-respected clergy of the Desnan faith in Kenabres, a few short years into the Fourth Crusade. Both children appeared as beautiful and healthy half-elven babes but in the dimness of the chamber, their parents and the midwife noted that Astra's eyes glowed softly. While Luna was truly half-elven, Astra, they realized, had been touched by the Azata, the muses of the celestial realms. Life for the two girls was much like any other noble child's in Kenabres. A healthy fear and respect of the dangers of the Worldwound were instilled into them at a young age, and given their parents' prominence among the Desnans, were rarely without guard. This did little to dampen the ever-optimistic twins' joy and wonder, however, and even at a young age they'd get into trouble for all sorts of mischief. It was usually Astra who acted as the ringleader and instigator for these shenanigans, with Luna cheerfully following in her sister’s wake. When they were five, however, Astra began having visions. Some came as nightmares while others came as fits that sparked rumors of possession and madness. Inquisitors wished to have her locked away and studied, but were rebuffed by the Vales. Tensions rose and for several years, Asta's fate was on a knife's edge. During these years Luna did her best to be a bastion of normalcy and support for her sister. From an early age Luna had shown an interest in martial pursuits and once old enough, entered the temple clergy as a battle priest-in-training. She often entertained Astra with displays and accounts of her training and the different people she’d meet at the temple. Then one stormy night, a cabal of cultists, worshipers of Baphomet, Demon Lord of Minotaurs and Labyrinths, crept into the Vale’s home. The attempt to murder Galen and Elvara was thwarted, but it was only a part of their scheme to kidnap a young girl who'd been rumored to have the gift of prophecy. They quickly slew Astra and Luna's guards and stole away with both of the twins, unable to determine who was who - partly due to lack of proper intel and partly due to the sisters refusing to tell. Luna was certain the cultists had come for her sister and Astra most likely knew that to identify herself would mean a quick death for Luna; better to remain silent and force their kidnappers to take them both. A couple of days later, the kidnappers arrived at a site where they'd prepared an altar for a vile ritual. They hoped to corrupt the seer and use her for their ends. A demon waited for them and cackled gleefully as the ritual began. Several innocent people were sacrificed and Luna was brought before the demon first - perhaps because she was the hardier of the two, perhaps it was simply a random guess, she wasn’t sure. Dark and evil power wracked the young girl’s body and Luna quickly lost consciousness, her sister’s panicked screaming the last thing she heard. It was then that a group of paladins and rangers fell on the gathering, slaying the demon and the cultists within moments. They had to hold Astra down while healers saw to Luna, the distraught and traumatized girl fighting them to get to her sister's side. The trip back was a blur for Astra, and Luna did not wake at all from the feverish slumber she'd fallen into. Weeks passed before Luna awoke. She learned that uring that entire time, Astra had remained by her side. Though Luna appeared to bounce back from the ordeal with amazing speed, having grown more resilient than ever, it took her sister Astra months to fully recover from the emotional trauma of their experience and begin to laugh and smile again. A few months later, they were assigned a new guard, a young man named Auric Lightmane. By this time Luna had completed her own specialized training within the Desnan temple and found it a bit silly that Auric was ostensibly assigned as their bodyguard - if anything, it seemed more sensible to just say that he’d been assigned as her partner in keeping Astra safe from harm. While their new companion certainly seemed affable enough, he also seemed a bit distant in Luna’s opinion. But maybe it was just her imagination.
Appearance:
Like her sister Astra, Luna stands a mere 5'1" with black hair, fair skin, and the same sapphire blue eyes - though Luna's don't glow in the dark. At first glance her slight stature is deceptive; a closer look reveals a surprisingly toned and muscular frame hidden under the simple hide armor she wears. Seldom seen without a cheery smile on her face. Personality:
Much like Astra, Luna is kind-hearted and generally a cheerful young woman. While not possessed of the same sort of quick wit or otherworldly presence that her sister has, Luna does show a rather simple, down-to-earth sort of wisdom that seems to help keep her other half anchored. She is fiercely loyal to her sister and would do nearly anything to keep her safe and happy. |
