I also have no idea what we're up to... Seeing the charge towards the traitors, Lug rushes forward as well. Monosword (39+10): 1d100 ⇒ 79

So as noted, this is the first time I've played DH... Given the tight quarters, and that I'm at the front of the pack, should I switch to monosword and laspistol, or stick with the big gun and switch if/when the battle becomes close quarters?

Lug nods at the others' words. "Flanking the enemy is a sound idea, but as noted, we must wait for Praetus to return." He readies his weapon and peers down the tunnel. Let's hope he returns in one piece.

Okay, so Praetus scouting ahead (how far?), Lug in front of the main body, Lothar second. Good to go? Lug nods to Praetus. "Don't get yourself killed," he murmurs as Praetus moves off silently. He turns to look at the rest of the group. "Good to go?"

Lug nods slowly and deeply, almost a bow. "As you wish, Judge. Under such circumstances, only unity will ensure survival." He looks over the motley crew. "An eclectic bunch, to be sure. Let that be our strength." So does that mean we can dip into the Arbitrators' armoury? If so, I'll happily take tips off anybody as to what I should take. Also Aenarius, you detect a distinct note of disdain, or possibly jealousy from Lug due to your role as an Arbitrator; I thought maybe a small amount of dislike between some of the PCs might add a bit of RP fun, but I certainly don't intend to upset the party or make a big deal of it, that cool with you?

Lug looks sideways at Aenarius. "Pretty sure everyone here heard Brother Erkan and myself refer to ourselves as agents of Ordo Malleus. But as you like." Lug refrains from any more frivolous discussion, but his old guardsman's dislike (or was it jealousy?) of the Adeptus Arbites flashes through his thoughts. Damn Arbitrators. Always thinking so highly of themselves, never on the front lines.

Was meant to be four days of pretending to be a reg'lar person." He nods vaguely to the outside, where the Chaos freaks still swarm through the Hive. "A$~%+#% traitors saw to that though. So far with the Inquisition there's more food and better digs than with the Guard, so can't really complain, I guess." Lug doesn't seem to smile with his mouth or his eyes, but sometimes a little with his words. "A man could do worse."

Lug turns to Vasyl after he speaks, looking him up and down with an unreadable expression. As others continue speaking, he murmurs, "You look like a man I once knew, a scavenger from a mining outpost." He pauses briefly, then adds, "He was handy in a firefight too." He holds out a hand. "Corporal Laetus. Call me Lug."

Lug listens to the others' analyses, mostly nodding through their statements. "I largely agree with Brother Erkan and Corporal von Bismark, although I would add that in following up, the focus should be on treachery within the Hive. It is almost inconceivable that so many technological defences failed in unison. The hearts of men are weak, and vulnerable to the lure of Chaos."

Can do :) Dmg: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Should have rolled 10d10+40... but I believe that's 105 damage.

So question on that attack roll: I'm not sure if it was +20 or +30 for size (so of course I assumed +30...), but if it is 30, that take BS to 106. Is there a max to your skill? Like a permanent miss chance?

Buoyed by his first hit on the gunship, Lug switches to full-auto and continues to concentrate his fire on the gunship. Assuming close range (+10) and a massive target (+30), plus full-auto (+20)... If any errors here, please correct me. BS(46+60): 1d100 ⇒ 5 Ooh that's good, isn't it? Multiple hits? Is there a max to how much WS or BS can be boosted? If not, is that 11 hits?

Ok, I have all the wounds (17) so I should probably draw gunship's fire - hopefully I can survive its attacks until they lascannon it. Reading up feverishly on all the combat rules, but I'm likely to screw up often to begin with :) Also I'll add much more to my info line today, including ammo as suggested.

I'm on the map. Like I mentioned on the gameplay page, if Lug knows that he can't damage the gunship with his autogun, I'll target the nearest T. If he can damage the gunship, or can't but wouldn't know that, I'll stick with targeting that. Sorry for any confusion.

Lug salutes his Inquisitor as he is addressed, then turns to the matter at hand. Seeing Anaerious sight up the gunship, Lug decides to focus his fire upon it too. He drops to one knee and fires at it. Not sure on numbers (on my phone), so rolling the same as Anaerious. Please correct me if I'm wrong! Autogun WS 46: 1d100 ⇒ 18

Lug curses as his vision of the action is cut off by the falling masonry. He turns to look at his fellow guardsman, then hears the rallying cries of the men behind him. The Shrine, the precinct, or the main front: he didn't care either way. Just give me a target. Lug is happy either way; his instinct would have been the Cathedral, but if someone gives him a mission, he's there.

Lug walked across the square, his tall, lean, and muscular frame standing out among the mass of tittering humanity. His steps were determined as he approached the seedy bar squeezed between the shops either side. It was his last couple of hours of leave before returning to his Inquisitor, and no doubt it was about to get rough. Real rough. He'd been ordered to remain in uniform, in case he needed to scramble quickly, but surely he'd get to enjoy these last few, precious hours of just being a man at a bar... Nope. As the world went to hell, Lug whipped his autogun out and cast an eye about for cover. Then he heard the shout, a strong military voice over his right shoulder: "For the Emperor!" Turning, he saw a proud warrior in an Imperial Guard uniform take cover behind a nearby statue. If I'm going to die here today, I reckon the two of us could at least take out some xeno garbage before we go. Lug readied his weapon and took cover beside his fellow Guardsman, noting he was also a corporal. "Greetings corporal. Corporal Laetus on your flank." Lug then began sighting up his first target.

Lug has been serving our Inquisitor for about a year now, which has seen him transform from a hayseed hometown hero into a world-weary young man. I imagine that he respects and looks up to Lothar, who is an experienced veteran, whereas Lug hadn't seen much action with the Imperial Guard before being seconded. |
