Can you mark this inactive then?

Yeah. I'm out. Sorry if you saw this and got excited. If the DM is still around, can you remove me from the game? Thanks.

At least you came back. That's more than most can say.

Only the DM can remove it by making it inactive. It will eventually disappear after no one has posted in a month I believe. Just have to wait. It will still be there as Gruknuk says but it will remain hidden until someone posts again.

"That would indeed be bad. I don't want to stick around after dark either. This place might protect us from what happens at night or might make it worse. So far those...things haven't approached in the night so I'd rather deal with the evil we know than the one we don't."

"Yes. I can definitely do that," Luca says, jumping on the sorcerers idea. She hopes up on her horse and awaits the caravan to move out. She turns back after remembering something. "Hey, you guys think this place will get worse or better at night? I mean every night its felt like something was watching us. You think that will still happen here?"

Luca's sense of adventure warred with her since of danger. She wanted to know what was going on but didn't want to get caught up in something dangerous. Her combat skills had never been tested on real...anything. That and she was certain she'd not be able to keep up the charade. She was incapable of lying. And though they hadn't lied per say, it was probably only a matter of time. "I have a kind of confession to make. I can't lie. At all. I tried once and felt sick. I mean I can pretend things are normal here but if I have to talk to these people I bet its only a matter of time before I mention how weird these people are to live in the desert and not know it. I mean this is weird right? Its not just me? So I think I should either stay here or we should leave. We have enough to food and water to make it the two weeks to Alran. Why make trouble two days out?"

She left out that she was very unsure of her combat abilities despite Saria's compliments back in Axiom. If it came down to it, could she really face monsters? Or kill someone? She was much more comfortable running. But could she also leave someone behind? She didn't want to find out only two days into the journey.

I forgot I took the Honest drawback.

We still see desert right?

"No. They are right. The desert was a few miles back. That's where we came from. So good to be out of that awful heat," Luca says a little nervously. She hopes down from Deserae and get close to the others, whispering, "Uh. I think somethings not right here." Deserae's ears flick back and forth and she fidgets in place. "See. Deserae's antsy and that's never a good thing. I think we should just...play along for now."

I forgot about the "in living memory" part. That's near 1000 years since elves live within the walls and I find that really hard to believe. Are PC's can't be the only ones in recent history to want to leave. And I doubt at least one person in all that time hasn't tried. It may not have been sanctioned and they may not have come back. That I can believe considering what awaits us in dark each night. A small group would probably have been overrun immediately.

But this a moot point since we probably aren't heading back any time soon. Sorry for confusing people.

"By 'scouts', do you mean the brave soldiers who stand on top of our walls with spyglasses?" Korza asked. She gestured back towards the way they came, nothing but empty desert behind them. "If we cannot see the city from here, then I doubt the city can see this place."

"Some have left the walls. They didn't go very far but they have." Luca would have explained further but Bianka confirmed that this set up was new. This wasn't here a week ago. And as Saria moves forward to greet them, Luca remembers her manners. The last few days of terrifying and sleepless nights had made her a little too paranoid. They were supposed to be diplomats. And these people were surviving in this desert, probably nomads, so they must no some means making the journey easier.

Diplomacy: Aiding Saria to gather info: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 +2 to Saria's roll.

Leaving: Finally, the promised day had arrived. Lucatiel made sure to get enough exercise at all her weapon forms enough to nearly pass out at a reasonable time. Otherwise should would have surely stayed up to an unreasonable hour. So she was a little sore but not tired. It'd be a long day no doubt. No matter what anyone said, she slowly crept her way up to the front of the caravan. As the old doors rumbled open, both her and Deserae tensed in anticipation. They seemed more like a loaded quarrel than girl and her horse. Nothing distracted them from their one track focus. They waited all the way for the command to move out then...

"Hiyah!" Luca yells as she snaps the reigns. Deserae neighs and rears in excitement. Then both shoot off into the desert kicking up little explosions of sand where her hooves hit the ground. They are a small smudge on the horizon in less than a minute. Before even half the caravan has left, they are hurtling back. They veer around to the left and do a victory/farewell lap around the outside of the city. As they circle around sections with people, Lucatiel stands in the saddle and waves/shouts at the people that came to see them off. Deserae manages to get all the way around city at nearly full speed, setting another new record, before slowing to come along side the other Axiomites leaving the city. Both are thoroughly winded but Luca is all smiles. "Good job Deserae. I think that was a new record," she says patting the horse affectionately.

Later: Much of the initial excitement has worn off after the first night in the desert. It was just as awful as they said. Something always seemed to be just beyond sight. And days weren't much better. The outfit helped but it was still really hot. During the worst part of the day she had to cover Deserae in her blanket to prevent burning. A few days out, the first odd thing happens. They ran across a village in the desert. "We're two days out. Not Two weeks," she says to Gruknuk. She stares at the village, confused. "There is no way our scouts missed something this close." She trots Deserae over to Lady Kozac. "Was this here when you came through?"

I have nothing new to add. Just waiting on the day of freedom.

Luca grows bored of Rashid after day one. He was a pleasant man but could go on and on about absolutely nothing. Luca liked food, but not as much as him. She still did her duty as guide and managed to learn something from him but it was like shoeing a wild horse. A lot of effort for little accomplishment.

Lucatiel tries once to have a conversation with Lady Kozac by ambushing her one morning. But after getting the cold shoulder and a sour mood, she moves on to the far more amicable Quartet of adventurers. They have a lot more to say and are a lot more fun. She promises wholeheartedly to join them when their duty is done.

On the day of their leaving, Luca is dressed in a new outfit, a flowing robe with a hood and scarf to keep off the sun and out the sand. Its an outfit obviously fit for the desert. The hood is currently down and thus, it it is easy to see her displeasure in Kelrot's appearance. They were on an important diplomatic mission. The least he could do was stay out of trouble for three days and look presentable.

Hmm. So we have a goblin that lives in the sewers and a half-orc hobo as "Diplomatic Liaisons"? Alran is weird.

As long as he comes back within 10 days I'll still be here.

There wasn't much for Lucatiel to do over the next three days personally. She'd been ready three days before the caravan arrived. Now she was just checking her gear for the ump-teenth time. "Wait. Desert hot. Duh." There was one last thing to get. An outfit suitable for the desert's hot weather. And maybe a few more canteens.

Buying a Hot Weather Outfit and 4 canteens for 12gp. I suggest everyone else get the outfit too unless they have fire resistance.

She did make the most of those three days, asking as many questions as she could about this, that, and other of Rashid or anyone else she could get her hands on. She guided Rashid through the places she was most familiar with, the Noble's Quarter and the Barracks, but let Korza and Saria handle the Acedemic and Temple.

"Yes but they are still rats. Can those rats turn you into a rat like them?" she says to Gruknuk. To be honest, the goblin still unnerved her a little. It was probably because his mouth was a little large for his face. And the pointy teeth didn't help.

However she blushes at Saria's exaggerating. "Noooo. I think you saw a lucky hit. When I do hit, and it's really not all that often yet, I am confident it would be over. But I am much better with a bow."

She looks annoyed at Geesyl when she asks about recompense. You weren't supposed to do that over dinner. This was for more light-hearted conversation. Then again, Lady Kozac broke that already so it was less of a faux pas at this point. She brightens considerably though when Rashid mentions seeing more of the world. "Oo. I can guide. I'll tell you about the city if you tell me what's beyond the wall."

"Wait!" Luca nearly shouts interrupting most of the conversations. "Three days? We have to wait three more days? Ugh." She slumps back in her chair. It was obvious they needed time to rest. And the news of monsters was bad but she was hoping to be free tomorrow. To open the gates and run free. Eventually, after sulking for a lot longer than a noble should, she finally registers the rest of the conversations. She scoffs at Korza's deduction. "I highly doubt that." She looks around the room at her fellow Axiomites. The city was smallish. Everyone in the room was known to her, at least their faces were recognizable at some point in her life. "None of us have any real combat experience. The crime rate here is negligible. What would know about fighting monsters? I mean," and she looks at Kozac, "we'll pull our own weight but I doubt the Lady Kozac would put novices on the front lines. Terrible start to a diplomatic mission."

Is that new or do we know of such creatures?

Kolret: Usually people pick a language from google translate and use that for the post and spoiler what you wanted to say.

Like so: "Možete pronaći pravi jezik koji to zvuči kao ono što ti misliš da bi trebalo ili izabrati nasumično."

Gnomish:
You can find a real language that that sounds like what you think it should or pick randomly.

Lady Iryna Kozac wrote:
"In pursuit of knowledge," she states, matter-of-fact. "The Copper Desert is practically on Alran's doorstep, and yet there hasn't been an expedition for hundreds of years. Frankly, I was disgusted with our complacency. I had the resources and the determination to see it through, and I would hear no dissent."

Eventually, Luca can contain herself no more and pounces on Lady Kozac's opening in the conversation. The woman's near golem-like movements and attitude are not a deterrent. "So you call this the Copper the Desert? How did you get across? We've had the odd scout try but they either returned saying it was all wasteland or did not return at all. Is it really that large? What's Alran like?" The last question was thrown in haphazardly. As if she just managed to prevent lobbing every question she had towards their guest.

Her head swivels at the sound of her name but, like a boomerang, swings back to Lady Kozac.

Lucatiel was too excited for sleep the day before the emissaries were to arrive and more so the next day. Every chance she got she stole away to the wall to catch the first glimpse of the caravan. She had to be practically man handled off the wall into her dress uniform for the procession. Once in uniform, she managed a much greater amount of self control. Sort of. As the procession meandered towards the Speaker's house she stood on Deserae near the back of the crowd which afforded her a decent view. Her eyes darted back and forth, unable to decide what to settle on. The gear, the designs, the people, everything. Lady Iryna occupied a decent amount of scrutiny, followed by Rashid. They were obviously important people. But she needed to gather with the other recruits soon and had no time to talk to the newcomers. Lady Iryna Kozac certainly seemed intimidating but Lucatiel remained irrepressible and nearly vibrated with excitement as she stood at attention.

Are we allowed some time to talk to the newcomers or going right into the examination? What does that entail?

"Well you obviously bet on the wrong horse," she says with mock seriousness.

"*squee* I get to see beyond the wall finally! I can't wait!"

@Lucatiel: have you checked out the drake rider stuff recently released by paizo?
It would have to have a 3rd party archetype from the usable list.

^That. Also, it starts tiny. Useless as combat goes. It looks like more of a familiar than a companion until about level 9. And you loose a lot for something that doesn't get very strong until halfway through the class. Also, non-good.

If this gets to 16 I am screwed then. Nearly all of them get to Gargantuan. Those massive jumps at 8 and 16 bother me a little though. I like gradual growth. I don't plan to multiclass so would it be possible to roll the stat boosts into the Dragon Steed Base Statistics? The level 8 and 16 adjustments give +8 str, +4 con, and -2 dex both times. That's a lot to beef up in one level. And it doesn't seem accurate to have a dragon explode in size and strength over night. SO maybe something a little more gradual?

+8 str at 8 and 16 would be +1 per level until 16
+4 con at 8 and 16 would be +1 per 2 levels until 16
-2 dex at 8 and 16 would be +1 per 4 level2 until 16

After writing several paragraphs of backstory, Paizo ate my post. When the impotent rage fades I will try again. Here's the cliff notes.

Lucatiel met her dragon companion when they were both still young. She liked to wander off as a child and would come back with stories of a new friend she found at the lake nearby. Her father thought it an imaginary friend and said nothing. After a while he grows concerned and decides to meet this friend. Turns out the friend is not imaginary but a young bronze dragon named Nessminneneth who his daughter calls Nessy. Yes, I went there. Over the year or two they played together, a magical bound forms between them. One that Nessy's mother did not catch until it was too late. Now the two are bound together until one of them dies. Nessminneneth is like most Bronze dragons, inherently good and active in the world to make it a better place, much like her mother. Luca is not as devoted to cause of good (NG) but cares deeply for her friend and does what she can to aid her. For fun, they staged mock battles against imaginary forces of evil. Now they do it for real.

Even though a dragon is involved, not as strong as one might think. When mounted, the dragon is actually at a heavy load and the rider has to use a Move Action every round to maintain Focus to act with the dragon. Otherwise it does nothing. The dragon is also only medium. I could have chosen one more powerful but it would gimp the rider because the focus would be a standard action. That doesn't lessen until 8th and 16th level so no iterative attacks until then. Potentially four attacks per round but low to hit and low damage. Doesn't change for a while either. Luca will focus on demoralization while Ness does the damage.

At least I don't think its that strong. Hopefully I will get to see.

This is Zayne. So i got her started. Did the build first in case i had some issues. Backstory to come.

PM me if he comes back. I am switching this to in active.

"I..." Luca starts but cannot finish. She looks at him, momentarily stunned. Worry? Concern? He'd never been an emotional man, even before the war. After, he had become extremely hard. She understood now it was the stress he'd been under, but as a child, it made her very angry sometimes. It felt like he didn't care.

"I don't use a lance anymore." She winces and looks away. She didn't mean to say that but her mind was in a haze. Now he was walking away. She couldn't leave it like that. "Father," just as he turns around she hugs him, hard but quick. She turns quickly, sniffling softly and checks over Abigail's saddle and packs.

Yep, still drawing a blank on Rribak.

The DM's last post gave me an idea for Vizper and Lucatiel's connection. I think they would have been childhood friends. But because of their respective training, they didn't see each other for a long time. All Luca knew was that Vizper had grown fairly strong as a mage (no one knows how to classify her yet) and had changed. She is not sure how to deal with the new version yet.

I think he meant the trait?

"Yes sir," Lucatiel answers, adding a military salute. She tried to be as formal as possible in serious situations. He still didn't like that she was using a different style from their ancestors nor getting tutelage from a "bird-brain" as he called them. So she stood straight, spear pointing up and shield on her back. Now she just waited to be dismissed and prayed Vizper didn't add any more than that.

@Rribak: 3.5's Unearthed Arcana used to have a wilderness rogue that exchanged the following skills if the DM is okay with that.

Class skills: Remove the following rogue class skills from the wilderness rogue's class skill list: Appraise, Diplomacy, Decipher Script (Linguistics), Forgery (Linguistics), and Gather Information (Diplomacy).

Add the following skills to the wilderness rogue's class skill list: Handle Animal, Knowledge (geography), Knowledge (nature), Ride, and Survival.

Honestly it seems like there is a conflict of interest here. You want to play a knife master rogue but the backstory you came up with doesn't suggest rogue. Your trying to marry conflicting ideas. The key features that jump out at me from your backstory are faith and transportation. Your character is part of a devout tribe that returns the bodies of other grippli to their sacred home. When not doing that you trade and offer rides. You've been on a boat your whole life. I don't think rogue is best for that. Ranger, cleric, druid, or hunter seem like the best choices.

@Vizper: I still don't get the character. If demons are supposed to be subtle manipulators why is it that succubus made her evil or at least amplified her desire for power to the point of ignoring societal norms. That's not subtle. Neither is possession. If her true alignment is Neutral then stick with that. Sprinkle some cryptic evil thoughts in there that she isn't sure were actually her's. Maybe add a an evil action in times of stress but she doesn't remember doing it.

So based on the opening post, Lucatiel has met everyone at some point and witnessed their abilities first hand? I am guessing through defense of the town at some point by Monsters or bandits or monstrous bandits?

Instead of homebrewing the class to that extent, why not play a Slayer. Its the ranger/rogue hybrid which is what you seem to be building. Then take either Devotee of the Green or Know the Land for Knowledge (Nature) and Spirit Guide for Knowledge (Religion).

Kravar:

Lucatiel drops the reins and draws steel with her non-dominate hand. The long sword felt very heavy. When she realized the...thing approaching meant no harm she sighed in relief. She wasn't going to be able to put up much of a fight anyway. The weight of the blade as she let it sink to a neutral position nearly toppled her. She'd never seen an Aven before but had heard of them. She'd never heard of them leaving the high monasteries.

"Oh I know its gonna hurt. Not the first time." And hurt it did. Even knowing it was coming didn't stop her from crying out in pain and nearly passing out. If it wasn't for his hold she'd sink to her knees. "I'd say thanks but the blinding pain is a little distracting." It takes her a minute of deep steady breaths to gather her composure enough to speak.

"That felt more stupid than brave," she says, rotating the arm to make sure she still had full range. "Unfortunately, if I don't do it, they'd be back and take a lot more." There was a lot more to the story but she didn't think sharing with a stranger was good idea.

Kravar wrote:
"As I know something of the bones and the healing, I also know the muscles and the fighting. And it seems to me that this steel of yours does perhaps not fit your balance well? You are quick, yet with the weight of your steel, it slows you. If you would, I, Kravar, would teach you the staff and the quick feet. It will help with your spearfighting, I think. And your beast, I think he is an old hand - he does not so need teaching, yes?"

Lucatiel looks confused. "Uh. I didn't understand most of that but if you want to help, here. You can walk Maggy. She's nice." Lucatiel hands over the reins to the donkey pulling the wagon while she gets back on Abigail. Lucatiel would come to understand the Aven's words later when he showed her what he meant by staff and quick step and of balance. The armor was too heavy and weapons too large. Giving them up was difficult. But when her practice showed progress, she found talent she never knew she had.

I think she'll call him Master Kravar sometimes just to annoy him.

This raises a lot of questions. First and foremost is how did farmer's daughter get apprenticed to a conjurer? Which brings up another larger question? What is Eventyr's stance on magic? I either see it as something only the nobles have access to far off in the capital. Maybe a place of learning to try to counter and learn from the magic that ripped the country apart. That or any magic user is hunted down like the Salem Witch Trials.

Also why so hell bent on power? Pun intended. What's the motivation?

Well now I want to read how that happens.

Scenario:
Lucatiel was a simple farm girl. A simple farm girl that was sitting upon a war bred horse in armor with a lance twice as long as she was tall. She too was armored in plates a little too big for her build and an over sized helm that needing much padding to feel tight. The sun was just barely cresting the horizon and a cool breeze as flowing over the hill. Yet despite the cool morning, she was sweating from anxiety. Coming up the hill were five men. Two were on horseback, 2 on foot, and one driving a wagon loaded with the stolen goods from her home. If she was successful today, they would be returned to her family and neighbors. If she wasn't, well, she didn't want to think about it.

They saw her easily enough from the top of the last hill but they still came on until they reached the bottom of the hill she waited on. Her father's voice appeared in her head with the advice he had repeated that morning. "Hopefully you won't even have to fight. You wear the armor I once wore and ride my horse. If they recognize it then you may be able to dissuade them."

"Who the f%#% are you?" said one of the mounted men.

Well so much for that, she thought. "I am James Hawthorn. Defender of Moorshire. Leave the wagon and no harm shall come to you," she said in the manliness voice she could muster. Even to her ears it sounded fake. Something to work on if she survived.

"Yeah?" the same man asked. He pretended to mull it over as he looked over at his companions and smiled. "Think I'll take my chances against a wannabe knight," he said turning back to her.

Her mind conjured her father's advice again. "Take out the leader first if you can. It will demoralize the rest and maybe end the fight before it even begins. He'll usually be the one giving orders or talking the most."

"You have been warned," she said in return. She reached down and stroked the mane of the horse beneath her. "Alright Aeolian. Let's do this," she whispered. The horse tossed its mane and snorted in acknowledgement. The name seemed to be some kind of trigger. The beast tossed it head and snorted. It's stance shifted from relaxed farm animal o proud war horse. The horse began to prance in anticipation of what was about to come. It danced back and forth with barely controlled excitement. So when she urged the horse forward, it was off in a flash, charging down the hill like a gust of wind. Lucatiel barely stayed in the saddle. Thankfully the men below were slow to react, not realizing the threat was real. By the time they got their weapons out, the thundering duo were already upon them. Again, her uncles words rang in her mind as she charged forward. "Remember, Lance up and stay balanced until just before the strike. Drop, aim, and lean into it at the last second. Just let Aeolian do the work. And for the love of the gods do not drop the lance."

Lucatiel and Aeolian made impact with tremendous force. And to everyone's surprise, the hit was mostly on the mark. The lance hit the supposed leader low on his breastplate, deflecting the tip down into his side. It was a mortal wound if not treated and sent him flying off his own horse. He landed with a crunch and lay still. Only a light groan indicated that he survived. Aeolian's momentum carried them past the wagon before they slowed enough to spin around and charge again.

"Wait! Wait! We'll give it back." One man cried as jumped down to help the wounded man. Lucatiel reigned in her mount just before dropping her lance for another strike on the other mounted man. Aeolian continued to dance, obviously wanting to race some more.

"Leave the wagon and go!" she said and they complied. They patched up their companion as best they could and rode off. After they were over the next rise an excruciating pain tore through her arm. She dropped the lance and cried out so loudly in pain her mount went into a panicked trot, which just made the pain worse. "Stop Abigail." On the name Abigail, the horse stopped and immediately dropped its head to graze lazily at the grass at the side of the rode. Lucatiel spent a few moments just trying to fight off the black spots in her vision that threatened to coalesce in an all consuming darkness. She took deep breaths in time with the now docile Abigail to keep a steady rhythm. Eventually the pain dulled to something manageable and she looked to see what the problem was.

"Yep. Dislocated." She dismounted gently, only hissing a few hims at the spikes of hot iron in her shoulder. The armor weighed heavy on the wound. She grabbed the lance and then the reigns of the donkey pulling the wagon of goods. She guided the stubborn animal over to Abigail and tethered them together. Then, very slowly, guided them all back to the village. As she went she wondered if her father would be proud she won or disappointed that she barely did more damage to the thieves than she did to herself. Probably both. At least she didn't drop the lance until they were gone.

@Kravar: How would Kravar react to the above situation? I figure this is a good place to start their connection but I still know little about him.

@Vizper: Is there a chance of moving her toward Neutral? I won't have any problems with a CE character but is there a chance we can change her over the course of the game? The evil character finding redemption or the evil character who isn't really evil are always favorite themes of mine.

Sent Sunstone a PM. He seems to be around but might not have read the post that transfers us over here.

Rribak Bonerattle wrote:
Build Comments: I'm surprised she went for a DEX build instead of STR. DEX gives her a bonus to ride skill and AC but forces her to waste a feat on Weapon Finesse, which could have gone to Power Attack. Also surprised she doesn't use a lance, which inherently does double damage on a mounted charge. She has a shortsword, which uses weapon finesse. She also has a shortspear, which doesn't (since it is not a light weapon) unless there is some class feature or GM boon involved. So I'm not sure how she gets +5 to hit with it.

Shortspears are not light weapons normally but they are in the hands of a Hussar because of this:

Phalanx Lancer:
Through heavy conditioning and strength training, you have become adept at using a shield in tandem with a polearm to great effect. While maintain this stance, you can wield a normally two-handed discipline weapon as a one-handed weapon (or a normally one-handed discipline weapon as a light weapon) when using a shield in your off hand. When fighting in this manner, your attacks with discipline weapons and shield bashes deal an additional 1d6 points of damage (+1d6 per ten initiator levels). In addition, adjacent allies (up to a maximum number equal to your initiation modifier) wearing shields may interlock their shields with yours as a free action on their turn. Each shield-bearing character improves their shield bonus to AC by +1 for each ally in this position (up to a maximum of +5). Allies linking shields with you in this manner do not need to be in this stance unless they wish to increase the number of allies within the phalanx as well. Special Note: If you possess the armament shield class feature (see zweihander sentinel warder archetype in Path of War), its benefits are suspended while you maintain this stance. You must be wielding an actual shield to interlock it with the shields of allies.

As long as she's in that stance it's a light weapon and thus finesse-able. She will never not be in this stance until level 2 and off the horse when I can get a different stance for defense. That's when she'll be using the shortsword. Shortspear is also a ranged weapon, though very short.

As for Dex over Str, short answer is I wanted to play a cavalier differently. She didn't start training until later in life after the terrible news that most of the males in her family were now gone. She doesn't have the muscles her male cousins have built up since youth. It was a decision I based on the backstory but there is some mechanical benefits.

Normal build is as you mentioned. High str, lance, power attack, and spirited charge. At level 3 that's like +12 to hit and 3d8+27 on a charge. If she hits, combat over. Where's the fun in that. For now I can somewhat match the double damage on a single charge. With the stance, a boost, and a strike I can do 4d6+2. Eventually the cavalier will outclass her in mounted damage but she has a lot more versatility. She can fight on and off the horse just fine and switch between mobile harrier and tank.

So he's young and out to prove something. They should get along famously.

The only other person she'd likely have a connection with is whoever submitted a blacksmith...I think. Someone did make a blacksmith right?

That reminds me, are we doing background skills? I think they were also discussed but not sure. DM, can you post the complete build rules in the Campaign Info tab?

Path of War is the Pathfinder version of the tome of battle. Each class of the book comes with several disciplines one can draw maneuvers from. These maneuvers come in 4 flavors, counters (immediate actions against certain effects like being hit), strikes (standard or full round special attacks), Boosts (swift actions that augment the next attack usually), and stances (constant effect with varying offensive, defensive, or utility buffs). I have chosen a Warlord. They are fighters with a slight focus on charisma. An assualt leader normally. But I chose the hussar archetype which is focused on mounted combat.

So instead of just getting into range and swinging, a warlord can initiate maneuvers which have different effects. These can only be used once in a battle and refresh at the end. But Each class also has a way for regain maneuvers in combat. For the hussar, I eiether have to successfully defend my mount with Mounted Combat or use a gambit, a basic attack with some risk or reward. Clear as mud?

.

Can you open Gameplay too so it will show up in the campaigns tab? So we are waiting for Burnscar and Pheonix?

Still waiting on Burnscar for some of that. I wouldn't mind since the game will be free form but yes, how do we implement it?

Burnscar wrote:

That would be really cool. Kravar will basically be travelling to improve the world, so he could probably have been convinced to teach relatively easily. It's good for his karma, after all.

He'd be a bit hesitant at first, since most of his own combat style relies on the Covenant. He's pretty sure that any humans he inducted would end up Bot-Ang'r in scarcely the blink of an eye, but he should be able to find more than a few things that are generally applicable.

That might be part of his backstory, why he has lived in Moorside for the last few months.

Thanks for proposing that connection!

Edit: I should be able to post once per weekday as well.

Great. Cause I think the scene in my backstory makes for a great starting point. I thought I'd write something but I don't anything about Kravar. How would he react to witnessing the event?

I have made some major changes to the backstory. Darker but not batman dark. Only one male returned from the last war, one in which Lord Greenfast lost many men thanks to a tactical error on the part of one of his generals. Her father,James Hawthorn, is the only to return and he is too wounded to fight ever again (maybe lost a leg). He was also unlucky enough to sire only daughters so now the family is mostly women and children. Lucatiel is the oldest of his daughters and steps forward to learn how to fight and defend their family and home. She'd been learning a little from her cousins but not directly from one of the older generation. Her father sees little choice. He's too crippled to fight and the only men left are children.

She learns quickly, after the almost failed attempt in the backstory, that heavy armor and lance are not suitable for her. She just isn't strong enough. So I think I will switch to a more dex-based character. Switch con and chr and switch dex and strength. Take the warlord version of the Hussar. Phalanx Lancer means I can use a shortspear as a light weapon, so I can use weapon finesse, and adds some damage to make up for the str switch. On the horse she will use Ride-by-attack to avoid the enemy and lead them around. Off the horse she can use Iron Tortoise to be tanky and annoying.

Light cavalry instead of heavy cavalry. And if Deadly Agility is available I can pick that up at level 3. I hate to handicap the character but this seems like a lot more fun and appropriate.
