Lucas gulped a bit at the tension before his he looked between Joshua and the others, "Agreed though to answer Angel's question, gods are essentially supers but different. At least that is one running theory." He took a good look through the crowd searching for anyone with a band colored like the groups. "Where could they possibly be, nearly every other group has started to file out."

Lucas moves to answer but stumbles, "Well I believe that is a difficult one to answer honestly. At least for us Mortals the meaning shifts depending on culture, usually only slightly though." He looks to Phoibe for a more accurate answer from the resident 'godling'.

Lucas stood quietly while the group reconvened and discussed though he felt they were a few short. "Truth be told I was unaware that anyone outside of a handful of fringe groups even prayed to the ancient Greek gods. Is that how you draw your power Phoibe?" He questioned her completely skeptical that the gods or even fairy GOD PARENTS! even existed let alone dolled out powers to anyone who asked. He pat Angel on the shoulder, "You can have your hero name changed, but I think there are systems you have to go through so people know." The hand was firm, not in a constraining manner but one more one trying to promote confidence in her having a say in the matter. sorry guys i have been wanting to post all week but work is killing me, we've already got the next two Saturdays set up as additional 12 hours x.x Should we PM the MIA players?

Lucas held up a hand, "Actually Angel, it's fine to call me that here at the school, or anytime we're not out heroing really. But that does remind me, we should look at assigning you a civilian name as well as a super name." He chatted with her(it?) a bit and overlooked her choice of outfit, trying his best not to shoot daggers at Hayden who's outfit was at least 4 Dress code violations deep. He hoped the mentor would deal with that so he wouldn't have to chide her later. "I fear, I've over-dressed for the start of classes by a lot given the look of all the other students. I thought college was supposed to be professional especially during gatherings like this." He motioned down to his fancy black and white two-piece suit and tie and then towards the assembly who were various sorts of Jeans, shorts, T-shirts, and the occasional tank-top. Assuming they've already gotten their dorms so far, ignore this if not

are we playing out our first meeting now, or is this after the hero has recovered? Lucas had sat and given both members to speak his undivided attention, he had of course read the updated school handbook as well as it's previous editions via the AEGIS archives and understands the weight of everything that was said, though even a junior agent like himself would have to obey the rules he was certain he could help stretch it for himself and perhaps the team a little. Ah Bastion (sir/ma'm) it's good to see you on your feet and straight back into it. It'll be an honor to be trained under you, even though i'm short a bit of equipment, never hurts to learn new tricks though right. He would shake hands and deal with pleasantries with the students on his team and Bastion alone. He would then straighten his suit once more looking around and seeing himself quite over-dressed. maybe i shouldn't have dressed so formal on the first day.

Right on, I was about to put out a post asking if folks were still interested lol. Quick recap, there may be stuff I missed when writing this, but that's a bit of the point, so we can buckle down on everything. School- Colossus School for Young Heroes or Colossus College; Kind of implies anyone can be a hero it could just be Colossus or Colossus Halcyon. WOTFCT-TLDR edition; We came together to save a valued hero and stop an unjust villain in ending their life, it cost us a monument and almost killed the hero before we were able to intervene. WOTCT:
Newborn - They found you, and you saw the outside world for the first time and helped in the fight. Where and how did they find you? Which one of them gave you your first nickname?; (don't know if we got a straight answer to the first question. I think we agree'd on Gallant giving her the accro-name) Soldier – Our victory secured an important resource for AEGIS. What was it?;
Nova - We destroyed our surroundings in the fight. Where was it? What did we destroy?;
Legacy- All things considered, we did well and impressed an established hero. Who was it?;
Transformed - We drew attention and ire from plenty during the fight. One important person in particular now hates and fears us. Who is it?;
Janus- We saved the life of someone important, either to the city, or to us. Who was it? Why are they important?;
Reformed- We fought a terrible enemy from my old life. Who was it and what did they take from me?;
Hayden are you Doomed or Deli?- We totally broke some major rules to win the fight. What rules did we break? Whose rules were they?;
Relationships:
Newborn-_____is an exemplary human; they show you around and tell you how things work. The behavior of ________confuses you again and again;you’re determined to understand humanity better by studying them. (Don't think anything was said exactly?) Soldier- ANGEL is crucial to the long-term success of A.E.G.I.S. I must protect them.
Nova-You hang out all the time with (Hayden i believe was the answer) to blow off steam.
Legacy-You once got caught doing something that shames your legacy with ______.
Transformed-_________comforted you when you were at your lowest.
Janus-_________knew you from your civilian life first.
Reformed-I’ve earned the trust of ______, and I follow their example of what a hero should be.
Delinquent/Doom-(Arcanum/ANGEL)?
Influence: Newborn- Everyone has influence over you. Soldier- Jasper(For defying the villain in this way. If they're still playing), Arcanum(Refined control of your overwhelming power), Slate(Overcoming your appearance and how people see you and proving you aren't a monster in a pinch). Everyone else needs to show restraint and prove that they can save those around them. Nova- ANGEL, Slate, Open Legacy- Everyone has influence over you. Transformed-You try not to care what other people think, even if you can’t shut everyone out. Give Influence to one teammate Janus-You look up to your teammates; they seem to have this superhero thing figured out. Give two of them Influence over you. Reformed-Do you talk openly about your days as a villain? If so, give each team member Influence over you.
Delinquent/Doomed?- Arcanum, Watchdog?

Oh also Pholbe, remember to answer your When Our Team Came Together question. And relationships, as well as suggesting i would suggest the same for the influence, but legacy starts with all team members having influence on them.

So we sticking with Pandemonium as the Mega villain? If so we should talk powers and motives. I'm thinking strength, fire, and maybe summoning of otherworldly beings? Motives are a bit harder but i could totally see this person trying to open a rift and summon a 'higher being' into our reality, like Cthulhu or the devil or what other uber entity you may think of.

I thought of a backup today. If the Nova spot is free'd up. Long short of it is, a wizard from a different dimension as well as the large dragon he was fighting got transported to our world, different locations and all but yeah. The character i'm thinking Vivian Williams, was young(13) at a LARP camp when this mysterious wizard man just appears out of nowhere. One the wizard recovers he realizes the dragon is not there and begins looking for it. But he is ignorant of their world, senses great potential in vivian, and decides she shall be his guide. They find the dragon terrorizing people(it landed on a bridge think golden gate) supers were after it. They beat it and as he started to fade back into his world(some kind of magical mojo took em back) he gifted vivian with a shard of the Bridge of Aeons which in turn gave her great magical powers, a spell book(one of his extras), a beginner's stace, and a few pointers. Now she's in college a well-studied mage, and often uses her magic to take notes while she reads a book.

Is she a reincarnation of a demi-god? Its freaking cool though breaking away from the standard legacy idea gave me some ideas for other characters now. Im stocking weigh Lucas though but it's given me ideas. Plus some good ideas if i decide to change playbooks. When you change do you keep your old powers and just start picking advancements, or do your powers switch over?

ElbowtotheFace wrote: I sent messages to Wilhim and Edelsmirge to see if they were still interested. Wilhim was thinking of doing the Protege which is important if we want to 'save' the mentor (or the Soldier could take a mentor with an advancement eventually.) I was actually planning on it possibly, depending on who we meet outside of school, feels kind of wrong taking a mentor and having them be a teacher since they are kind of already mentoring us all.

I'm seeing... 3/5 or 4/5 we have a few middle-grounds on the college idea, not sure if more are gonna join but i think the majority is college bound so far. Also HOLY crap yes, I can totally imagine us sitting on the side-line because we were told to and we're all "Oh crap, Pandemonium just broke Bastion to the curb... wait.. he's going for a killing blow, Guys screw this we gotta get in there." And then just all of the heavy hitters plowing into the side of the baddie while the others scrape what's left of the hero off of the ground. Or maybe Jasper-Reformed, the villains side-kick/minion blind-sides em and we start to turn the tide back because we simply have a numbers advantage. The destruction would cause City Councilman Nathan Xavier to want us to tighten up our restrictions on damage caused by super activities, despite the actions of villains being largely unpredictable, marking Slate's bullet and we'd get to rescue the near-death hero also wrapping in Joe's bullet on the list the Reformed gets a mark off for a terrible person from their current now past. It's a nice three-fer(might be forgetting everyone's WOTFCT)

Honestly I could go either way on it, they both fit the still growing up narrative of MASKS, one allows us quite a lot of freedom when it comes to heroing, while still keeping us in a rules filled setting. The other makes heroing a bit more difficult considering we'd be younger and have less lee-way with getting out of assignments or classes.

Giving it some thought I think Gallant would be the least likely to notice the werewolf, simply because of all the things AEGIS has their fingers in magic and fantasy is the one he believes the least. Meaning he'd think the werewolf and fey based powers were actually just transformative and cosmic wonkery respectively. Despite his entire operations unit being Arthurian in it's agent naming, be they ideals, places, weapons, or actual characters from tales. Hence why his is the ideal of being Gallant. I think college does sound a bit more accurate, like it'd mean that we have all had time to get used to our baseline powers(maybe still not at 100%) and also if we were to do relationships it would be handwaved as they're in college and as such of age and thus not against Paizo and general rules. Plot hooks:
AEGIS is keeping a lot more information about Blackout and Lucas's sister than he's aware of, though he hasn't sniffed out any of those clues yet.
His nanites super advanced even for AEGIS tech, so did they actually come from Earth? What are Blackout's true goals, certainly not something as simple as growing it's mass into an unstoppable nano horror.
Oh also here's a great question about the faculty, how much do they know about us, our secret identities, backgrounds, powers, etc? NPCs: AEGIS Operation Chief "Knight Avalon"(Lucas's mother and head of his section cold, interested in the job getting done), AEGIS Jr. Operations Assistance "Agent Gwendolyn"(Gallant's operations assistance manager, who he has to go through for supply requisitions and aid), Super History teacher "Chronos"(can project moments of time for his classes, saves on the holo-room budget), S.P.E teacher "George Deadlift"(Supers Physical Education teacher, rather scrawny when relaxed but buffs out when he's on the job), and everyones favorite

I also just have this hilarious vision of Hayden and Gallant in the same dorm and you've got one half that's a portal to the Fey wilds and the other half is as utilitarian as it gets and the fey wilds just die off when they enter the area. If the rooms were co-ed, but I doubt individual rooms would be but just.. the mental image of some plant or something popping out of Hayden's side and happily(and probably murderously) skipping over to Gallant's side only to shrivel up and die from his sheer un-magic is funny to me.

I would say Colossus or something in theme with another of the in-universe, but no longer running, super schools, Titan Academy. It was privately owned instead of Government, but it went out of business when one of the students basically mind controlled the faculty and students and went crazy against the city.

I could see Gallant giving her the name, being used to accronym shortening. The monument+hero injury would be nuts, it'd likely have to be against a villain way out of our league, or our teacher forbade us to help and couldnt defeat them themself, and by time we decided to ignore them and help anyway it was to late. As for hanging out to play games Lucas might join so he can try out being in a team in a safe environment that doesnt involve getting the crap kicked out of anyone.

I also wanna go over some stuff like the probably first advancement i'll take with lucas, which is the 'undergo augmentation: choose 2 new powers' But they're just gonna be Lucas getting some of his AEGIS gear back really. Namely his weapons, which fire rubberized bullets and beanbags coated in a substance that momentarily(like impact and done) disables super durability and the S.L.A.M.A.R(Sea Land Air Mobility Augmentation Rig) suit which sort of does what it says on the cover. These would fall under the 'Signature weapon' and 'an alternate/monstrous form' if the Co-gm's will allow. If the suit doesn't fit in that uh.. well.. poo, does it fall under 'augmented/mechanical limbs if it's removable?' Design wise think the Ranger from Anthem, but functionality wise it really just gives flight(and underwater jetting), extended legs for faster running speed, and a sealed environment for hostile or oxygen starved environments such as underwater. No rockets, no laser blasts, none of that jazz just mobility augmentation and slight multiplication of strength. On Co-gming i'm game to toss ideas out, but i'm awful at keeping up with actually writing out scene posts so i'll feed ideas to the gm and plot hooks if they want. I really like that idea for the Janus it still fits the separate lives troupe without falling into the Normal persona/super persona trench that needs to be avoided with the setting we're going into. Slate being unable to truly hide his form really plays into the Transformed troupe, even if we had a holo being 2 tons of ROCK HARD AWESOME would make everything a pain. Always relegated to the stairs, the single stone bench in the cafeteria, sitting in the front or back of the bus so it doesn't level out when you go over a bump, etc etc... I feel like the broken hero could work, we could make it a hero who was about to retire anyway(I was only two days from retirement) and go to raising the next generation as a teacher. I still think watching over ANGEL would be the most in-character thing for Lucas to 'secure for AEGIS' for the time being, but if the Janus is a werewolf and they've got suspicions then that would also be a good one, cause they're all about super and supernatural. Elbow posted it straight from the book, but I've got some other plot-hooks involving AEGIS, such as the whole Blackout thing, was actually... well you'll see. Then the nanites that Lucas has are... well ya know... And also *this post has been redacted until further clearance is authorized*

I say we go with something along the lines of, we were on a mock patrol when a real group of villains showed up and we had to deal with them while our teacher dealt with the bigger threat.
'Newborn' is crucial to the long-term success of A.E.G.I.S. I must protect them. 'The protoge' or 'The legacy' isn’t always thrilled with the way A.E.G.I.S. handles things. I’ve come to value their critiques, even if I don’t agree with them. If neither of you then i'll leave the disagreement w8th AEGIS open. These are all if ya'll agree of course. I think the school setting could be like this. Everyone attending has powers, to varying degrees. But those who prove themselves get extra classes on true heroing. Often overseen by an older hero. There are a handful of teachers chaperoning in this manner and it'll give us plenty of npc possibilities to play with without limiting ourselves to non-metas |
