As a part of shaping this formula, you make a single withering hand attack that deals an extra 3d6 points of damage. If it hits, your target must make a Fortitude save or develop an infection that couples intense pain with an inescapably maddening itch. An affected creature is sickened for the duration of the formula and takes a -2 penalty on saves to resist the distraction effect of any creature of the swarm subtype. In addition, if the creature takes any actions on its turn other than free, swift, or immediate actions, it takes 1d6 points of damage at the end of its turn.

When you shape this formula, you cause your attacks to become more and more likely to critically strike an opponent. Starting in the round in which you shape this formula, the critical threat range of your spellshape attacks increases by 1 every round at the beginning of your turn. The formula's effect ends immediately the first time that you land a critical strike, causing the threat range of your spellshape attacks to return to normal.

If it hits, your target must make a Reflex save or be covered in blistering flames that impose a -2 penalty on attack rolls, skill and ability checks, and saving throws. In addition, whenever a creature afflicted with blistering flames fails an attack or saving throw, it takes 1d6 points of fire damage.
The effects of this formula do not stack with those of Consuming Flames or Engulfing Flames.

As a part of shaping this formula, you make a single withering hand attack that deals an extra 1d6 points of damage. If it hits, your target takes 1d6 cumulative points of damage per round (that is, 1d6 on the first round, 2d6 on the second, and 3d6 on the third). Only one save is allowed against this effect; if successful, it halves the damage each round.

Whenever an enemy within the area takes normal (not nonlethal) damage, that wound festers for an additional 1d6 points of damage at the beginning of its turn each round thereafter for the duration of the formula. A DC 15 Heal check or the application of any cure spell or other healing magic stops the festering. Only one wound festers at a time; additional wounds taken while the first is still festering are not subject to this effect. Once festering has been stopped, however, any new wound taken while the subject is within the area (before the formula expires) begins the process anew.
