Female Human Rogue 2

With the tribesman still not answering, Lotus pulls out a dagger and approaches him in frustration. Time to start answering little man, or I take you into the tombs of the God-Kings...

Hopefully that will help him find the courage to answer Bedu's questions.

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus excuses herself to a nearby stream to clean herself with some water. Once back she sits down for one of Bedu's famous breakfasts. Chewing down on whatever is placed in front of her, she remarks on her impatience to head to the tomb and do some exploring (aka raiding in her mind).

Female Human Rogue 2

Disinterested in whether they go into the tomb now or in the morning, Lotus keeps out of the conversation and waits for the others to make up their minds.

Female Human Rogue 2

Like I said before, we cannot kill him now. Lotus listens to Liet's suggestion and nods her agreement to the priest. That sounds like a good plan. It's not like the guy is going to shout out a warning to his buddies.

I do suggest we go into the tomb under the cover of night.

For the slaves I meant after we clear the tomb of all its riches.

Female Human Rogue 2

I don't care what we do now, but before we leave here, those slaves are free. the young rogue states to whomever wants to hear it.

Still apparently not able to speak, the rider watches and listens to your discussions. His black eyes reflect the firelight, shifting back and forth between the speakers. When Skittle sits in his lap, his eyes widen, and he shoots a glance towards Bedu, but makes no other moves.

Indo studies the rider's trail, and is able to ascertain that riders along this path are somewhat regular, though it's impossible to say just how frequently people pass along it.

Lotus listens to Liet explain the benefits of the God-Kings for a while before changing the subject to the matter at hand. So what's next guys? We now have a prisoner that can't talk and we can't kill him in cold blood. Then we have a tomb we need to explore with the protection of Liet's faith and we have a group of people outside who won't want us in there.

I refer to my previous question to Liet :-)
Yeah, I'm going to take a mulligan on that one and defer to Rob. I have no idea about the backstory or actual philosophy of the god-kings. I've just been totally winging it so far based on their cleric domains and what I gleaned from the Iskandria writeup. But I also don't want to go against "canon" by making up something radical that contradicts what Rob's got in mind. So let me get some guidance from him and then I'll answer in-character for Liet.

Sure, no worries. Just playing Lotus how I see her. She has never seen anything good come from gods, so showing her that these God-Kings would actually make life better for everyone, would probably make her a true believer.

Female Human Rogue 2

I refer to my previous question to Liet :-)

Female Human Rogue 2

Once everyone is done discussing and getting ready to rest, Lotus sits down next to Liet. I don't know much about gods and stuff. Growing up where I did, you don't really have the time, opportunity or reason, but I'd like to hear more about these God-Kings of yours. How do they help make life better for the poor?

Female Human Rogue 2

After storing the loot with Bedu, Lotus recovers her crossbow from behind the tree. We must get moving back to Skittle and Indo to make plans for entering the temple / tomb thing of the god kings. She mumbles her way through the stuff that she doesn't understand anyway. The potential loot is what she cares about; that and the potential information they can gather to bring down the cursed Rani.

Female Human Rogue 2

While Liet and Bedu argue over the merits and drawbacks of saving the rider, Lotus takes that time to carefully look through any saddlebags the now calm horse carries. Anything interesting you were carrying?

I'll take 20 on the Perception, if you please.

Female Human Rogue 2

Seeing the rider go down from her (too) perfect shot, Lotus drops her crossbow and grabs her sword resting against the tree while rushing towards the fallen rider and his horse. Liet, see if you can save him for interrogation! I'll try and calm the horse.

Things just got more dangerous for us. He should have dropped from his horse. Lotus thinks while she quickly reloads her crossbow and fires another bolt while the rider is still trying to control his horse.

Female Human Rogue 2

Stand still right there. Lotus whispers under her breath and then she releases her bolt.

Lotus sets up quickly behind a tree that hides her form. From there she readies to fire her crossbow. Her sword leans against the tree ready for action. To Liet hiding with her, she whispers the discription of the rider. The rider carries a madu, a whip, and a longbow on his back. Let's take him down quickly from that horse.

Female Human Rogue 2

Thank you Liet, I'm sure the God-Kings will grant your request. Lotus will wait until the rider is close enough for a sneak attack. She will then attempt to shoot the rider, hopefully knocking him off the horse, but not killing him. I'll try to keep him alive for interrogation.

Female Human Rogue 2

Once in a position where they can ambush the rider, Lotus pulls out her crossbow and loads it with a bolt. Her sword she puts in easy reach.

What kind of check would you need to find a good ambush site?

Female Human Rogue 2

No time for delicacies boys. He's going the other way. That said, she dashes off to run to where her path will meet the rider. Hopefully that will be out of earshot of the other tribesmen.

Female Human Rogue 2

Perception DC 15 (1d20+4=15)

There! the for once sharp-eyed rogue hisses. She points at the tribesman beginning to saddle a horse, apparently in preparation for a ride or journey. Can we intercept?

SNAKES!!! Lotus shrieks when she spots the slithering slimes sliding in the shady shelter of the cliff. Immediately she pulls her sword and gets bodies between her and the snakes. Quietly she whispers Snakes are almost as bad as dragons...

Female Human Rogue 2

From my camping site in France. Don't know if I get any other plusses for the rope.

Climb check and aid another. (1d20+7=14, 1d20=13)

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus quietly snickers at the picture of Bedu and Liet becoming one-with-the-land by sudden impact with the canyon floor below. Then she goes quiet, realizing that she could well also become one-with-the-land in the same manner.

Female Human Rogue 2

Wait, if Samir went down at this spot, where is his rope? Did he take it back with him or did someone else remove it? Figgiting now a bit, Lotus puts another dime in the bag. Perhaps Bedu has a point in following the canyon up high.

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus smiles at the rope that Liet brougth as she pulls out a similar piece of shiny silk coiled rope. With two ropes we'll surely reach the bottom. Unfortunately I didn't bring a grapping hook, so we'll have to use a sturdy tree to tie the rope to. But perhaps there is another way down.

Perception check to spot another way down to the river. (1d20+4=16)

Female Human Rogue 2

Ahhh, yes, the cute man will have to die. Can I play with him before we send him to the gods?

Female Human Rogue 2

Hah, those spiders were driven off a lot easier than that dragon! Lotus exclaims in bravado.

A healthy meal later, the young rogue settles on her bedroll for another night in the jungle.

Female Human Rogue 2

Seeing Skittle under attack and tangled up, Lotus aims her crossbow at Spider 1 and lets fly her bolt. Seeing it fly true a sly smile comes to her face and she reloads for another shot.

Crossbow, light Ranged Attack +5 (BAB +1, Dex +4 / Damage 1d8 / Critical 19-20/x2 / Piercing) +1 to attack/damage for 4 more rounds from Bedu's Inspire Courage (1d20+6=19, 1d8+1=8)

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus reacts quickly to the new threat. She brings forth her crossbow and loads it, ready to be fired at the arachnids.

Initiative (1d20+4=23)

Assuming here that I only can pull out the crossbow and load it in 1 round.

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus is much too preoccupied with what happened last night to notice anything but keeping on track.

Perception (sight) check (1d20+4=7)

Female Human Rogue 2

DC 15 Survival check to stay on course (1d20-1=15)

With the heat taken away by the endure elements effect on her, Lotus can focus again on keeping the party on course.

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus awakes as from a nightmare as she recalls her close encounter with the Tatzlewyrm. She shivers once more and decides she won't ever come close enough to something that can grapple her like that. In silence she prepares for the day's journey.

Female Human Rogue 2

Thank you. the girl whispers. Then Lotus lies down on Liet's instruction and breathes a relieved sigh as someone takes care of her for the first time in her life.

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus clearly shows the teeth marks on her upper body where the Tatzlewyrm clamped down before it wrapped its coils around her. The bleeding is clotting, but enough blood was lost to indicate a serious wound. Fortunately the rogues' clothing was already dark and the bloodstains don't stand out much.

Liet wrote:

"Are you alright, miss?" he quietly inquires, kneeling down to be close enough to her so their voices won't carry, "That tatzlwyrm came close to getting you as well. It's a good thing Indo there's as handy with a blade as he is..."

The priest visually assesses the girl's demeanor while looking for signs of injury.

"Did it harm you at all?" he kindly asks.

It got me good... Shaking she moves her arms out of the way so the cleric can see the full extent of her injuries. I don't think I like dragons that much. is the girls only attempt at weak humor.

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus screams out in dismay as the Tatzlewyrm grapples her. Then another cry when the black ichor spatters her. Finally she sinks whimpering to the ground as Indo puts an end to the wyrms life. Shaking on her knees she holds her sword firmly, her knuckles white, for security that it didn't offer before.

With Bedu congratulating Indo, she looks up in teared eyes and stops shaking a bit. With noone concerning themselves with her, she withdraws to her sleeping place and sits down, knees drawn up tightly to her chest, rocking slightly. The poor girl really shows her age there in the jungle.

Yeah, really liking what you're doing with Liet, Neill.

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus flanks with Indo.

MW Short Sword Melee Attack +8 (MW +1, BAB +1, Dex +4, +2 Flank) / Damage 1d6+2 / Critical 19-20/×2 / Piercing / 1d6 Sneak damage (1d20+8=22, 1d6+2=6, 1d6=2)

Lotus darts in from behind with her short sword leading. The dragon apparently distracted by Indo in front. In drawing blood from the wyrm, she is now fully awake and very aware that she isn't wearing any armor.

Female Human Rogue 2

It's a what?!?! the rogue half mumbles to herself.

Still groggy and hazy from sleep, Lotus gets to her feet and gets her sword in hand. From there she moves as far around the wyrm as she can to set up a flank the next round.

Female Human Rogue 2

DC 10 Perception (hearing) check (1d20+4=8)

After her watch, Lotus falls back into a deep slumber from which she cannot easily be awakened. Finally when everyone is fighting, she wakes up and shakes away the cobwebs in her mind.

Lotus is dazed and can start to act in round 2.

Initiative (1d20+4=7)

Female Human Rogue 2

Any watch will be good for Lotus. She plans on keeping a fire going anyway to provide warmth, light and a possible deterrent for wild animals.

Lotus refreshes herself with the water and the rations. Then she gladly accepts the ministrations of Liet's so called God-Kings. The rogue listens to Liet as he loudly protests the rule of the Rani. She nods along with him and any others that join in. In the end she quietly adds. The rule before the Rani was one of oppression for the poor just the same. However, the Rani have made it clear that I am no longer welcome in the city while they rule. So I will do anything to assist the downfall of the Sisterhood and their Rani ruler. What will come in its place however? Will that be any better for those in the slums like me?

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus becomes clearly affected by the heat of the jungle as the day proceeds. We gotta stop some time soon. I can't seem to handle this heat at all.

DC 15 Fort save for heat (+3 normal, -4 for armor) (1d20-1=11)

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus keeps the party on course, with that effort however she forgets to take care of herself in the heat of the jungle. She stops to drink a bit of luke warm water from her skin.

Female Human Rogue 2

I know Lotus spent a lot of money on a flashy new sword :-)

Alright, so we travel at night. We'll need some sort of illumination then, cos I don't see to well in the dark.

Female Human Rogue 2

I'm sure I could move this stuff through him. Though I don't know if I can get top price for it on such short notice. I'll see what I can do. After that she takes out her money pouch and counts out her money to add to the pile. I come to 12 gold rani, 13 silvers and 8 coppers.

Congrats on the new job!. Lotus' 12 gold are ready to be put to use for a bag of holding.

Female Human Rogue 2

Is there noone with a good idea? Looks like we'll all be dead in the jungle soon then.

Female Human Rogue 2

Lotus has never actually been into the jungle before, so she has NO idea what she would have to take. In fact, with her lack of foresight she wouldn't really think about stuff like heat at all. She would just go. In any case, someone else should tell her what to buy, she has some money (12 gold).

Female Human Rogue 2

Don't we have enough money left over from the catacombs? I think I have some money left for supplies, but I don't know what we'll be needing.

Female Human Rogue 2

With everybody ready to go, and the hobgoblins stripped of their belongings, Lotus leads the party into the slums. There she finds a miserable looking boarding house named "Goblin's Tail" and leads them inside. A quick word and some coins to the owner secures them two rooms to bed down in. This will have to do for tonight. After that we need to slip out through one of the gates and into the jungle. There Hammurabi will have to take the lead.

Female Human Rogue 2

I can name a few places where we can stay quite safely for a night. If you guys don't mind going into the lesser parts of the city. I spent my youth there and most of that without a permanent place to stay. the young Rogue slyly suggests.

Female Human Rogue 2

Coming back with Hammurabi, Lotus is quiet as the others discuss to go into the jungle. Desperation almost overcomes her as she realises she will have to go with the others and leave the city that she grew up in. To come back, we must end the reign of the sisterhood. I have come to see that, and so must the others. A resigning sigh leaves her young mouth.
