Lorenzo half-growled in frustration, continuing to fight with a complete lack of effectiveness.
Lorenzo was not quick enough to evade the spew the maggot spat at him, but he was iron-stomached enough to not let it affect his fighting ability; or so he thought. Lurching for a moment, he almost blunted his rapier on the hard stone floor.
Lorenzo darted into the room and lunged for one of the maggots with a smooth fencing lunge; spearing his rapier right through its body and leaving it barely able to fight!
Lorenzo held both of his weapons close as he followed the intrepid Dwarf.
I think a tap of the wand wouldn't go amiss Lorenzo decided, using it on the Dwarf.
There you go. All healed up and ready to get bitten again.
Recalling how deadly a foe the previous ant had been, Lorenzo called upon his reserves of luck and swiftly entered the fray. As the ant lunged to bite Alec once more, Lorenzo's rapier interposed itself between the pair, causing the ant to spear itself onto the sharp blade.

Once a cursory search and magical detection had taken place, Lorenzo made ample use of his basic magic talents to open the various dressers from a safe distance.
Lorenzo paled. Looks like the sign wasn't a bluff... Save the I told you so's for when we're out of mortal peril eh Nareth? he muttered as he slammed the door shut. I don't think that's a swarm we can handle. Lets move- now!
I seem to recall that, in hazy memories of my time in certain circles back in Taldor... I have worn that moniker on many occasions; along with Knave, Scoundrel, Charlatan... and Rapscallion.
Lorenzo retrieved the bag with a slightly sheepish grin, pleased at his accuracy. Lorenzo shook his head in response to Zolrak's question; strapping on his light shield and leading with rapier extended- conjuring four dancing lights to lead the way before him. With no information to go on, Lorenzo decided that the sign might be a trick. He inspected the door carefully for traps before opening the door and sending the lights in.
Lorenzo inspected the button carefully for a time, seeing if he could surmise the mechanism it led to.
Seeing the bags of coins gave Lorenzo an idea. He hefted one of the bags full of silver for weight and smiled. Stand well back, everyone. This isn't much different to throwing darts in a tavern... just have to balance the weight with the throwing force... When everyone was well clear he expertly tossed the bag up into the air, seeking to land it atop the button in order to press it.
Lorenzo eventually found the right word, with a wry smile. Participants...
Well met indeed, Zolrak. I am Lorenzo- favored of the fates and... unfortunately I remember little else. I'm a dancer, gambler, warrior and arcane dabbler; in that specific order. You took the test too then? Are we to expect more of you?
This is the Bard in question. As stated by my learned colleagues, Lorenzo is an agile, front-line combatant, who will eventually TWF. Healing is (currently), primarily covered by a wand of Cure Light Wounds; but I have taken it as a known spell in order to supplement. Detect Magic and Knowledge (Arcana) are a must... Lorenzo won't be taking many save spells. He'll focus on buffing and blade-style spells. I very much feel Healing is not an issue. Arcane power please!
Lorenzo said nothing, a little irritated by the hand on his throat upon awakening Nareth, but knowing that the irritation would pass in time. Perhaps he lost his nerve... he was too quiet for some time now.
With the cursed ant finally slain, Lorenzo tapped Nareth with the wand.
Round 3 Action- Lorenzo continued to dart at the edge of the duel between vermin and Dwarf, but with an eye on his defense as much as his offence he did not find a sufficient opening to exploit and missed once more.
Round 3 Action- Lorenzo jabbed at the ant with his newly acquired masterwork rapier, but his eyes were distracted by his fallen comrade and his lunge was totally off.

Lorenzo surged into the fray with his new rapier, piercing the beast's carapace with the pointy end!
Some kind of... magic mouth, perhaps? Maybe its a punishment, for failing in the task we ourselves are undertaking...
Not at all GM, this game is a gem :). I did begin full time work in the past few weeks and my hours are extremely intense. I'm trying to keep up as best I can. I keep expecting Knowledge (Arcana) from the wizard... Can Nareth describe the magical aura to Robert in order for him to roll? If not, might be worth using that scroll?
Perhaps it only opens from the inside... Lorenzo said quietly. He addressed the voice beyond the secret door in a loud voice that would surely carry.
Lorenzo moved closer to the speech's source.
Lorenzo picked up the rapier, replacing the more mundane one in his sheath with the master-crafted one the Drow had wielded.
Seeing few calls for mercy from the group, Lorenzo waited a moment for signs of objection before plunging his rapier into both of the Drow's necks, one after another.
Lorenzo shrugged. Or both.
Taking advantage of Alec's sword leaving a deep slash on the Drow, Lorenzo whirled his mace in a twirling arc that smashed the Drow's kneecap and finally brought him down.
As the enlarged warrior fell, Lorenzo nodded deeply in gratitude to the Dwarven Stonelord in a gesture of thanks and respect. Nareth must have had a truly harrowing experience with Drow in his past. Or perhaps he just really hates getting grease on his clothes he sniggered, gesturing at the Dwarf's filthy form. I'm inclined to question their purpose in this place. But I wouldn't especially object to killing them now, just to be on the safe side.
Working on it... Lorenzo muttered, with a wary eye on the heavily transmuted warrior behind him. He followed the female Drow, continuing his attempts to strike the mage down. Stepping in close, he wrong-footed the woman and reverse-swept his light mace into her abdomen, crushing several ribs in an attempt to bring her down. Although he left a telling wound on her, she did not yet fall.

Meanwhile, while his three companions seemed utterly foiled by a single spell, Lorenzo realised that, perhaps, he may have been a tad reckless. He was now fighting between two wounded, angry Drow.
Lorenzo recalled little of what he once knew about spell casting and the magical theory behind it; but he knew that another spell cast in battle was unlikely to end in roses and trick doves. The gentleman was intent on disrupting it. Rushing the warrior with a feinted low swing, the agile dancer tumbled over his back.
Landing neatly, Lorenzo tried to disrupt the spell by using the subtle art of mace to face. Instead of landing the blunt instrument to her jaw, he succeeded only in clipping her shoulder; and even then only because she seemed to stumble into its path at the last moment.

Lorenzo was badly wounded, but he could see the warrior had also taken wounds as he pulled away. He quickly mended his own wounds with his innate magic and stepped towards the doorway.

His flesh badly burnt, Lorenzo's grim determination kept him fighting. He showcased his incredible agility once again as he surged into an instant sprint, running along the wall to maneuver into position and avoid the slick substance the Drow conjured. For all his chivalry, Lorenzo apparently had no qualms about striking the woman, recognising her as the easier target and noting her ability to fling spells. His mace struck her in the hip with a glancing strike.
