"Well, here we are." She hops off the horse. "I'm going in to deal with some bandit scum. You can come along if you like, but first to find them gets the first swipe at their bellies," she chuckles, drawing her sword. "Where might have that swine gone?"

Good to go and squash some bandits!
"Her ring. Yes, of course. Master Oleg, this man will pay with his life." She rushes over to the stable and hops on to one of the bandits' horses. "He couldn't have gone too far, I'm sure. Avery, I'm coming along with you."
"The bastard!" yells Linora upon learning the news of Happs's escape. "Master Oleg, this is unforgivable. I have no way to apologize for such a terrible thing happening. It must have been the fine ale you offered me. I was sworn to watch the men and I've let you down." Linora kneels before Oleg. "Is there anything I might do, beyond capturing the fiend, that might make this up to you? I know that they said some awful things to your wife." She jolts up. "Perhaps you'd like to be the one to declare what is done with Happs's life? Or maybe, you'd like to take him outside of the fort and give him a message from your friends Gorum and Irori?" she asks as she points to her fists, hopping on her toes like a pugilist. "Gods be sure, you look you have a mighty swing. Anything you ask of me, good sir, I will do my best to fulfill."
"Master Oleg, considering you've mentioned these bandits have been here before, I do have a question. Have these men stolen anything in particular that you are wishing to be returned? We can make sure to do our best to retrieve it for you if we take on the rest of their bandits at their camp."
"Well, I could take one, but if there's not one to spare, I'm happy with these leathers." She finishes off her ale. "Besides, with all of that magic at hand, nothing could even close to harming me," she says with a smirk.
Linora steps out with a half empty tankard in hand. "So, we're keeping our word then? We'll keep them alive until we can securely ship them to Restov, even if it means dragging them along with us." She takes a swig. "This will give us a chance to keep an eye on them. If we notice any further attempts at banditry or no goodery, we have all the proof we need to place these men on the chopping block. Master Oleg, you have my word that these ruffians will not step out of line in any way while we keep them here."
"Well then, I believe we can come to the agreement that these men must be brought to justice. As these men are not our responsibility and Master Oleg would have nothing to do with them, I feel as though the best option would be to send them to Restov where they would be handled by someone who has actual authority." She eyes the miscreants for a moment. "While I would love to have these men meet the blade, we have no true power here and it would be best to not go mad with power we were never given. In other words, these men our Restov's problem, not mine." Linora begins to make her way inside. "As that is the case, Oleg may I purchase some ale. It's thirsty work to debate the morality and nuance of the law," she says with a smirk.
"Well, if you ask me, either of those options seem just. However, considering these were not our problem, I believe that decision should fall to our gracious hosts." She strides over to the Levetons. "Master Oleg, Lady Svetlana, as you were the two most affected by these toughs, what say you to their punishment?"
I'll definitely take a normal longbow!
I already have a short bow, so I can bring that out when the situation calls for it. I'm mostly a swordsman, though.
Linora watches on as the bandits are tied up. "Make sure to make the bindings extra tight. Teach them a lesson for the wicked ways." She draws her sword and gives it a few quick swipes. "You know, I rather like the feeling of bringing down your type. Maybe I'll take up bringing in your kind." A contemplative beat. "Yes! I shall be a crusader for justice across these lands. So, let's get started then." She brings the point of her sword to one of the bandit's chins and leans very closely, almost touching his nose with hers. "You! You're going to tell me where the rest of your fellow low-life friends are hiding out or you'll pay with your life."
Linora leaps out from the stable, rushing to stand between the horses and the gate. "Vile brigands," she belts out. "This is your last chance. Off of the steeds and weapons on the ground. Unless, you prefer to examine my blade?"
Sorry to be late in getting my word in. I have nothing but open arms for our new GM! Hooray!
Linora contemplates the offer for a moment. "No death until I have a lived a tale worthy of a bard's song, then? The terms seem agreeable. I shall accept! For now, the world must wait for the grand tale of Lady Linora Avedra." After a handshake, she begins making her way back inside. "Now, you and I should get some rest if we are to weave a worthy tale. No sense in taking on bandits with weary bodies. Good night to you, sir." With that, she returns to bed.
"Well, aren't you just a splendid mess?" Linora chuckles, peeking out from the guesthouse. "Lucky for you I was still awake and caught your tale. It'd be a shame to lose a story to the empty night." She makes her way out and takes a seat beside Numalar. "It would be a greater shame to not take you up on the whisky," she laughs, taking a swig from the jug. "Speaking of greatness, I think you and I are taking a trio on the same cart. It's what I love about stories. The heroes within always sound so fantastic and majestic. Of course, I had to be like one of them!" Linora leaps to her feet and mimes out more swordplay as she is wont to do. The duel goes back and forth, leaping across the tables nearby, finally ending with Linora's 'death.' She makes a choking sound, falling to the ground in an over dramatic fashion. She stands back up, chortling at her own antics before taking her seat again. "However, what kind of place is this to find glory? Some backwater fort on the edge of the frontier? Bah! Where are the majestic cities and the great champions? No, we will surely die here," she spits through another swig. "I surely hope we do. Fools such as should cherish an early death so as to not have our heart broken by dashed reams." She stars up at the stars. "At least we can hope that our deaths are glorious."
Has anyone tried to PM GM PM?
Maybe she's not donning her armor and shield at the moment?
"Hey, I'm no master planner. Whatever you folks decide is fine by me. I can absolutely wait to start fighting if you feel that's best. No sense in getting worked up for nothing. Any magical blessings or superstitious workings you're willing to provide for me are accepted." Linora strikes a pose. "I am your actor, fine directors! Give me my direction and I will follow it brilliantly." She hops in to a fencing stance. "However, if things get heated," she says with an imaginary thrust, " I will take action!"
Linora nods at Karsh. "Aye. If there's a damsel in need, I'll be sure to help. That seems like a sound plan there, dwarf. They'll never see us coming!" She continues to mime her swordplay. "We'll have them running with their tails between their legs like the dogs they are. If you prefer, we could slaughter the lot of them instead. It's not my style, but you sound rather upset." Linora gnashes into a piece of bread.
"Bandits, eh? Well, just point me at them and I'll make sure to take care of them." She mimes some swordplay with one hand while slurping up some soup with the other.
That's why we draw a map. Everyone will have to adhere to geography as we declare it!
Linora struts in, a grin upon her face. She looks over at Avery for a moment and her smile droops to a frustrated frown. "Darn," she mutters. "I should have though to bring a horse." The smile returns, more a smirk than a smile now. She sizes up the outpost and everyone within before standing proudly. "Greetings, ladies and gentlemen. I am Lady Linora Avedra and I intend to tames these wild lands. I'm guessing you're here to do the same, so I say we stake our first claim here!" She waddles over to Svetlana. "How much for a room, Miss?"
Okay, thanks GM. Linora is now filled with Doubt. Some of the drawbacks seems almost laughably specific, so I chose one that seemed like a proper drawback. I feel it's fitting as Linora is still unsure of herself as a proper swordsman. In its stead, she now has the Highlander trait, granting her Stealth as a class skill.
Charmer? I hardly know her!
GM PM (Is there a preferred way of addressing you?), is it too late to take a drawback? I'm considering doing so, but I'd rather not go ahead without your approval.
Hey! First and foremost, thanks for picking me. Super excited to play. This is my official check in. I don't believe I have any thing to tweak on my character, but I'll give it a pass later to make sure all my math is correct. If it matters, I'm US CST, but I'm on the boards almost all day at work. :) |
