Things are ramping up for the holidays and there is a strong chance that I'll be less active over the week of Christmas starting on the 20th as my family, who are literally spread over the continent of North America, are all converging on a single house for the week. I'll try to respond as I can, but I can't promise anything.
Lazarus sighs, feigning annoyance and hurt. Time to play a different card. Are all knights this annoying? Timeon isn't this annoying.
Listen, jerk, we didn't stop to loot our dead after we put down the monsters, ok? At least I didn't. I just lost people in that room to horrifying undead and I'd appreciate some concideration, Sir Pain-in-the-Britches.
bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
He's alive, so I have a much better chance of damaging him. :)
In the name of all that's holy that hurt! Groans Lazarus. We have a holy man with us, for heaven's sake
bluff aid: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Lazarus staggers backwards holding his face. OWWW! Dagnabbit!
SM: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Lazarus steps forward and offers his hand in an apparent attempt to cool down the mood some.
My name is Lazarus.
bluff aid: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Using Hell’s Corruption (Su): You can cause a creature to become more susceptible to corruption as a melee touch attack. Creatures touched take a –2 penalty on all saving throws and must roll all opposed skill checks twice, taking the worse result. This effect lasts for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your cleric level (minimum 1)
That DC is too high for me to make untrained.
Lazarus stars at him for a moment. Say what now?
Lazarus shrugs and doesn't protest. Poli wasn't wrong.
The cardinal clearly feels himself superior to us. And that is certainly true. However, we know precious little about him. If we were to bring this Knight before him we can see how he reacts to this threat and thus gain some grain of knowledge about our new master.
Lazarus considers the options for a moment. Killing him would be a terrible waste. Our cause is clearly low on resources, and to simply kill him would be a waste of an opportunity, in my eyes. I say we try to "rescue" him first. Failing that, we can extort his likely loyalty to his former squire. Should those fail, we should try to subdue him, but not kill him. Of course, if he violently resists and is slain that's another circumstance entirely. Essentially, I wish to show us as thoughtful, competent, and resourceful both for ourselves and for the Cardinal.
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Laxarus looks around for traps before taking the key and trying it in the lock.
I haven't got much left in me, and not enough to heal, unfortunately. We need to get out of here. He follows toward the -- hopefully final -- exit.
You got hit pretty good. Lay still. I'm tryng to bind your wound.
Lazarus does his best with what he has, but the bandage is sketchy at best.
Also referring a hint of life in wade, Laxarus treats his wounds as well.
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Lazarus nods. So I'm told. He offers a hand up and then, whether taken or not, turns to the dead to see what useful gear could be salvaged before moving on.
Lazarus growls as he continues working, Come on, you. I'm not carrying you out!
rebuke death: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Lazarus finds Casius at death's door. He quickly examines his wounds and applies first aid. Or that's what it seems. In reality, his touch administers tendrils of healing energy to the treated wounds.
healing using Rebuke Death: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Lazarus, seeing that the beast is fallen, nearly slips himself in his rush to get at it! He swings with everything he can give in the awkward position he's forced into and manages to catch the monster on the back of the skull. It twitches once, and stops moving.
Squatting next to the creature and panting, Lazarus looks around to his companions. We made it. By the Divine we made it. Are you all ok?
As he listens to their responses he moves around to those who had fallen and checks for vital signs or signs of recent death.
attack prone: 1d20 - 1 + 4 ⇒ (18) - 1 + 4 = 21
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Lazarus tries to take advantage of the literal slip, but the low level makes his damage suffer.
Lazarus continues to desperately hack at it!
attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
1d6 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Lazarus hacks away at the monster as best he can!
Congrats, man! Good Luck!
Two down, thank the divine! Lazarus says a little prayer to his god, silently, and swings again.
attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Gentlemen. We may just have rolled some numbers worth keeping!
Not wanting to see the boy go in all alone, Lazarus accompanies him and strikes at the same monster.
attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
hey! A crit threat! : 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Yes, yes. He's done a lot. I will show him proper deference. I will also trust him about as far as I can throw him.
Cardinal! That's right. Shows how highly I though of him, I guess. I'm going to label him as Cardinal Future SpeedBump in my head. :)
I bet Lord Whatshisface is going to be annoyed. Which I don't really care about, but still.
Either is fine by me. I'd welcome him back!

GM: Blah blah blah blabity blah
Us: Braaaaains...
Also, I channel negative so I'd suddenly become much more useful in combat. Now, how to hide our undeadness to the wider world, especially as a vampire (if that's what I become...)
Now there's an interesting concept as I serve a god of Vampires
Maybe I should start praying a little harder
attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Lazarus tries yet again to contribute to the melee and fails.
Is anyone else starting to feel... doomed? :P
This dice roller really wants us dead.
attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
crit?: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13
damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Lazarus sighs and mumbles, "I'm getting too old for his crap..." He then steps up to the monster by Timeon (after the acid has gone off, of course) and swings! It's pitiful, but hey, he's trying. This is clearly not his thing.
aid another's attack: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Lazarus tries to help, but is utterly ineffective.
Indeed. I initially built him as a support cleric, obviously, but if I lean into Channel Smite I can do some decent damage. As long as the foes aren't undead. Stupid undead...
We may be weak now, but just imagine this trio when we get a few levels under our belts!
Lazarus quickly draws his weapon, falls back behind the beefier fighters and does his best to aid them in their efforts. He knew of the undead and these monsters didn't surprise him in spite of not knowing much about them, but they were numerous and that was concerning.
Both Lazarus and Casius go about just tossing the lids off with zero regard for stealth. :P
Lazarus helps move the lids while the others murder corpses.
Kn:rel: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Lazarus looks the corpse over, but doesn't recognize much...
Lazarus nods and moves to the side to let the more martially inclined of their number take the lead on this one.
Lazarus mutters, That would be the obvious choice. Perhaps that cloud again. I'm trying not to make any assumptions in this crazy place. However, we have little choice other than to forge onward.
Lazarus nods his agreement and lets their scout go first.
Here. Lasarus says as he opens the secondary secret door.
