Wouldn't true immortality be Immune to Death (full stop). If by any means you could be 'killed' then you haven't achieved immortality.

S.

Immune to necromantic spells that cause death i.e. finger of death spell. They wouldn't be invulnerable but would die of old age.

There was a 3.X supplement from White Wolfs sword and sorcery line it was a ritual for immortality where someone had to willing sacrifice their souls for the recipient, typically the caster if i recall. It could not be due to magical compulsion it had to be of complete free-will, however it was true immortality, becoming an outsider, immune to death magic, and fast healing 5.

Monk/Rogue/Fighter
I'd stat him Str 14-15, Dex 18, Con 14-15, Int 16-17, Wis 16-17, Cha 12

He's normal above average but not superhuman, he's also not popular, he's respected by other heroes because if his accomplishments being a normal human and he's feared by criminals because his intimidate is ridiculoulsy high.

Rogue would give him skill points and disable device, monk would give him unarmed fighting skill and good all around save bonuses, and fighter for feats and toughness. Comic book Bats id say rate 20th level at this point,

He's smart, innovative, and knowledgeable, but not a super genius, I'd give Lex an 18 Int before Bats. I'd spend a lot of skill points in knowledge skill and play up synergy bonuses, ie intimidate + knowledge (psychology, anatomy, whatever fits) to get scared criminal to wet themselves and talk. He's rich enough to aquire whatever magic item he wants, but realistically i'd follow pc wealth guide for what he has on him at any particular time. Monk clothes with armor bonus, cowl with water breathing and darkvision, cloak witb featherfall and shield bonus and hiding, boots of springing and striding, utility belt that acts as a bag of holding.

Monk 8/Rogue6/Fighter6
Str 15, Dex 18, Con 14, Int 16, Wis 16, Cha 12
Rogue for skill points and disable device, monk for fighting skill, fighter for the feats and weapon specialization unarmed.

Being the greatest detective he needs high intelligence and wisdom, but is also knowledgeable, so give him 5 ranks in all knowledge skills and play on synergy bonuses. While keeping skills like perception and sense motive high.

Low charisma because as a perceived playboy he's not popular couple of ranks in bluff will do. Batman isn't liked, he's feared or respected depending on which side of the law your talking about. High intimidate and some diplomacy, he's not known for negotiating. Again play off synergy bonuses.

Magic items can account for the gear but you could also give him a couple of books to increase any stats you're not happy with, he does train hard to be good all around but remember he's not supposed to be the best at everything. Nightwings a better acrobat, mr miracle a better escape artist, green arrow a better archer etc.

It's actually not too bad. I was never really into the original Avengers books. Felt too Disney. I know they're Marvels version of the JLA but even Supes now doesn't sound like a boyscout from the 1950s. About the line-up:
Cap, and Iron Man - you can't go wrong with these to because you don't have Avengers unless their on the roster.

Wolverine - I love Wolvie but he is in way too many X-books as it is has no one at Marvel ever heard of over saturation. I know the Avengers hasn't been a great selling boo and they need to get something going to get people to buy. But I seriously hope they have Wolvie only long enough to be a credible member and not as publicity stunt and then move on.

Luke Cage - Decent enough character with a long history, better than Rage kid. Obviously an ethnic diverisity on the team roster thing but hopefully done right without all the stereo-type persaonlity.

Spider-Woman - Could be worse could be Electra, could be better could be Black Widow (the original one). Jury still out.

Spider-Man - Same as Wolverine. At least hanging with Cap will make both of them seem more respectable in the public eye.

Ronin - Could be the perfect thing to make Daredevil a viable character again. Of course having Cap and Wolvie on the team already they have all the combat oriented people they'll need. Of course if they do the right thing and have Wolvie leave then his combat skill and heightened senses will not be overlooked.

Sentry - OK the group needs a powerhouse until Thor returns and evidently this guy could fill the bill, But why so much yellow?!? Of course they could of gotten someone who already existed instead of creating this guy. My real pet peeve though is that he'll be the reason/foil/excuse to rewrite all of Marvel's history/continuity because evidently he's existed for years but no one remembers him. Hate that crap. Watch a few years for now we'll find out he was the reason why the Fantastic Four were first able to beat Galactus. Believe it.

Marvel needs the Avenger, they need something to put up against the JLA. So far with the exception of the whole Sentry thing the writing is pretty good.

My current list.
X-Men (Astonishing, Uncanny, X-Men, Unlimited, Ulitmate)
Wolverine
Kabuki
Heavy Metal
Ultimates
New Avengers
