I apologize if this is a dumb question, but further clarification would be useful. Arcane Bond says: "If a bonded object is damaged, it is restored to full hit points the next time the wizard prepares his spells. If the object of an arcane bond is lost or destroyed, it can be replaced after 1 week in a special ritual that costs 200 gp per wizard level plus the cost of the masterwork item. This ritual takes 8 hours to complete. Items replaced in this way do not possess any of the additional enchantments of the previous bonded item. A wizard can designate an existing magic item as his bonded item. This functions in the same way as replacing a lost or destroyed item except that the new magic item retains its abilities while gaining the benefits and drawbacks of becoming a bonded item." It seems pretty clear, but I just wonder about the cost. Do I need to pay for the cost of the item if I already have the item? That seems cost prohibitive and unnecessary. I get if I'm a 10th level wizard I have to spend the 2000 gold for the ritual, but if I found a cool magic super staff is it really necessary to add the 100K Gold for the item to make it my Arcane Bond?

At this point, I don't have it all written down in an easily transferable form, so I would suggest describing the kind of deity you'd like to go with and I can give you the appropriate one and basic info. The racial gods are standard- Corellon for Elves, Moradin for Dwarves, Ehlohna for Halflings, Garl Glittergold, etc. Other deities are different.
Ashfeather wrote: Just in case this is still going, reposting Ashfeather with background. Just popping in to note I'm keeping track of the thread and such. We lack a few things, like an full arcane caster (witches are good, but not quite heavy hitters), and a healer. Push comes to shove, I don't mind providing an NPC healer, but I want to see if that doesn't have to be the case. But, while I'm here, I'm not sure what to make of these mounted characters. If this campaign is switching between land and water, half the time these characters will have their mount, and the other half they'll lose it. So, bear that in mind. I'm not disallowing anything, mind you- just helping better consider your options.

Is there another way to get the info? http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/a-noble-problem/wikis/main-page As it is a more direct link to the proper page. I need to work on the main page. If that link doesn't work I could email it out if you feel like sending me an email adress or some such thing. Brambleman, personally I'd lose the monk level. I don't think you're gonna get that much out of it, but if you feel like you can make it work, then it's cool. I'm certainly not about to restrict it- about the only thing I'm not allowing is evil characters. Otherwise, I'm just seeing what I can drum up. One or two more players would be ideal, so we'll see what happens. If you haven't posted a concept feel free to do so, and ask away with questions if you need answers before making a concept. The wiki has some good baseline information, but I have more that I just haven't had time to put down on the page.
(Reposted from Gamer Connection, with addendums!) Hello forum goers and such. I am interested in running a campaign set in my own homebrew world for folks looking for PbP to play in. I feel like I'm not familiar enough with the Inner Sea/Golarion to be comfortable there, but in my own lands I can put my best foot forward. So here are some things you should probably know to gauge your own interest: -Point Buy will be 25 points. I generally preferred rolled stats gauged a little higher, and also I'd like to be less afraid to pull punches in combats I run.
I'm not gonna lie, I have played in some PBeMs, but haven't done much running of PbPs. That said, I have done a fair amount of table top running, and this is campaign I have done before so the material is well set up. I feel pretty comfortable going into a PbP and hope it'll go well for all involved. I kind of have a Wiki here It has the overview I wrote up for the campaign. Characters can be from anywhere in the world, but past Endaerinn requires extensive questioning and such, so. I also have my own pantheon, save for the establish gods of a particular race- Corellon, Moradin, Gruumsh, etc. Anyway, if there's questions or interest ask/post away!
Sorry for the delay! I am still totally interested, just been working and haven't been checking the boards. It seems we have a fair amount of combat ability, so I'm inclined to play my staple SR character, Crow. He's an Elf, a member of the Ancients, has some decent contacts, and is generally a face/thief. I'll have the write-up done by Sunday, hopefully. I'm fine with Seattle, as I have the Vice book for gang information, and I'm kinda on the morally ambivalent front. Xabulba wrote:
Brambleman wrote: so this is an ocean themed campaign, awesome! But it means im gonna be a bit delayed in character building. Looking foreward to this! Hey, folks. Sorry, been swamped with work/sleep for the past few days, and since things were moving slow checking the thread hasn't been the highest priority. As an FYI, I am still recruiting, but I'm reposting this thread over in recruitment, like I should have done. New to the boards, and I must have just skimmed right over that thread. So, if you're interested, just post up over there as well. Although, I might as well add in an addendum over here- the initial part of the campaign does take place on land. There is a hook after the initial run that can take the campaign underwater, but characters should be able to survive on land. We can work things out as needed. Anyhow, just look for the thread in recruitment, as I will probably stop checking this version of it. And thanks to those that offered advice! ;)

Not sure on what type of character I would go with, open to whatever depending on the nature of the group. As for the 3 options of game type, I'm open to whatever although I guess I'd probably put the spirit/beast hunting one on the bottom of the list. I like the idea of working in the urban metropolises, ala Blade Runner, etc. I'm a big Shadowrun fan and would definetly like an SR game as I don't have one table-top wise. I have some character ideas, but they're variable enough that I'd rather fill a gap/avoid overlapping things. But, either way, count me in!

Because getting into the pbp's around here can be hard due to the stiff competition, and the fact that while I like Pathfinder, I'm not that big of a fan of its setting, and thus have a hard time finding the desire to learn more. So I'm trying to run something instead. No harm in trying!

DM Morvius wrote: I'll take another look at the sheet and background, but the first thing I noticed was ability scores. This game is a 25 point buy and I currently see you having 40 points spent on them. My bad. Or, well, my books bad. The point buy described in my book is not the one you're referring to it seems. It just assumes a base of 10 and 1-for-1 purchasing. So, I looked up the other one and fixed her saves and other such stuff and this is an updated sheet: Statistics: Name: Caitlynn de Leonne

Background:
Miss de Leonne is a member of a minor Chelaxian house who has spent the majority of her formative years at school, and has actually seen little of her home or parents. Towards the end of her formal schooling she was sent a letter by her parents informing her she had been betrothed, and she was to be taken by carriage to her new husbands home and married immediately. Sensing that this arrangement would no longer allow her to pursue academic pursuits- both scholarly and magical- she deigned not to board said carriage, and instead took what gold and items she had on hand and turned towards adventuring. At school, she focused mainly on lightning and storm magic. There was always something compelling to Caitlynn about putting order to something as chaotic and unpredictable as a storm. Also, while she would never admit it, she does enjoy the acrid smell of something stuck by lightning. Caitlynn is haughty, and arrogant for the most part. She (correctly) believes she is smarter than most people, and is not really afraid to make that apparent. Suprisingly, she can be humble when proven wrong- if only because she knows not accepting the truth only makes one look more foolish. With long black hair, high cheekbones, and a slim but lithe figure, she knows she is pretty but her cold and haughty demeanor often turns people away. Even among friends- most of whom wouldn't even know she considers them friends- she barely manages to tone it down. She does respect intelligence when she sees it, but by and large she is your typical ice queen. Still need to touch up her equipment, and find a third trait, but I have the old Pathfinder campaign setting book that I don't think has traits in it. (It just says Campaign Setting, not Inner Sea Guide or whatever the book is called). |
