Boogies....

Before the monster snatches him, Lakra plunges through the water with his axe, letting his crossbow fall into the tide....

.... But the axe blade is turned by the monster's rough chitin!

Lakra backpedals through the surf, putting about 30 ft between himself and the Lido Beach Horror, and fires a bolt from his crossbow at the thing.

The bolt sticks between plates of chitin on the monster's segmented foreleg, and it chitters maddeningly!

Lakra springs from the deck of the pontoon and lands gracefully on his feet in shallow water, about 5 ft. from the shore.

Lakra, sharing the foremost .50 cal with Prue, squeezes off burst after burst at the pursuing horror....
