"Ah, and we've almost made it. First things first, we need to warn the guard's here about the uprising, prepare the town for Aldencross' people to arrive, and send word to the rest of the towers." Kyriel says, taking stock of the situtation. "Does anyone have any connections to the guards here?" he asks, knowing at least Karl has some official connections.

"Two, if you count Nukilik's lunch," Kyriel quips back to Cal, laughing through a sly grin. After the impromptu feast, Kyriel suggests they continue on:

"Something about these bites doesn't look right," Kyriel offers, taking a closer look. Kn Nature: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 "I wonder if it's related? Maybe they've been affected and loosed on purpose, to disrupt evacuation efforts? We need to maintain our vigilance for the rest of the way, and we should be prepared to clear more obstacles..."

Sorry, thought we were waiting on Karl. Kyriel continues his assault, maintaining his defensive stance despite the blind boar's ineffectiveness so far. "See Karl, nothing to worry about!" Attack Roll-def/combat exp + nuki-buff: 1d20 + 11 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 11 - 4 + 1 = 11
welp, it gets a -2 for being blind and loses Dex, so I guess there's an outside chance that could hit...

Kyriel dodges the boar's initial charge, then deftly jumps around to the other side of the beast, moving into a flanking position across from Karl.
AC is 23 vs AoO if provoked, then 29 after I start fighting defensively

Kyriel nods back to Cal before loosing another arrow at the boar, hoping that the third shot brings it down.
Prescience: 1d20 ⇒ 14
using Prescience, I'll take the 14 instead of the 6, so my attack is a 22 to hit. After letting fly his arrow, Kyriel drops his bow behind him, and draws his sword, assuming a defensive stance. "Here he comes!"
44/44 HP | AC: 23 T: 17 FF: 16 | CMD: 23[25 vs trip] | Init: +8 | Fort: +7 Ref: +7 Will: +6 | Perception: +7 [-3 to hit, +5 AC when fighting defensively & using combat expertise]

That being the case... Kyriel continues, "...and I'm not willing to risk the lives of my tribe. If they got caught unaware, how many people could be gored before they were put down? We should seize the advantage while we have it." Nocking his arrow, he draws, then looks back to the others.

"We're also better equipped to handle them that the townspeople..." Kyriel warns, slipping an arrow from his quiver into his right hand without nocking it.

sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I'll volunteer for the split shift and go second, unless Nukilik specifically wants it.

Yeah, if we're confident the town and my tribe can beat the army out, then I'm all for running ahead and giving Daveryn as much notice as possible. We're certainly more capable of defending ourselves than most others in town, I'd assume. Let's do it.

While the others help around town and take care of their own business, Kyriel borrows a pair of horses and moves as quickly as he can back towards Lake Tarik to break the news to his people. After a disappointing conversation with his saddened tribe, he manages to convince them to abandon their home and move east with the people of Aldencross. Rusing back to Aldencross with two very tired horses, Kyriel finds the others, many of whom have assumed important roles in the preparing the evacuation. "Perhaps we should scout ahead," he suggests when they get a free moment.

@Sundakan - I highly doubt it. Kyriel specifically needs a free hand for rapier things, bears + shields = ????, and I'd expect Cal would rather keep his hands on Mathilda. You might as well take the Champion Fullplate too, I think. With Attunement and GM's new rule for ABP, you can ditch the 'Champion' ability and call it +2 Full Plate (if I'm interpreting that correctly). I'll snatch up the spellbooks and the Dispel scroll, unless someone else needs them, and enough gold to pay to copy spells into my own book. I'd take a bow if they're not wanted, but the strength rating is too high for me to use now, so I'm not super attached. Probably a good thing to give everyone 2 or 3 of the CLW potions, and a front-liner the CMW.

"If that's the case, we should take what we carry. No sense letting this army have any more than we must," Kyriel says, looking down to the dead Commander sadly and thinking about the dead captains up in their tower. "They may have wrecked the armory, but maybe we can find something of use. I imagine the Commander would want every resource utilized. We should check the officer's rooms on the way back too. I'm guessing these killers didn't have time to be thieves as well." Kyriel looks thoughtful for a moment.
44/44 HP | AC: 23 T: 17 FF: 16 | CMD: 23[25 vs trip] | Init: +8 | Fort: +7 Ref: +7 Will: +6 | Perception: +7 [-3 to hit, +5 AC when fighting defensively & using combat expertise]
Kyriel maintains his defensive stance, and tries to find another opening in the man's plate.
Frustrated by his defenses, Kyriel calls to Karl, "Circle around behind him! "

Kyriel hustles past Nukilik, slipping into a defensive stance as he draws his sword on their foe.

Kyriel stows his bow and draws his sword as he moves towards the melee, unwilling to waste another arrow. [ooc]double move along the path[ooc] "Throw down your weapons, you've been beaten!"

"The man in back, he's a healer!" Kyriel calls out as he watches the man cast his spell. Kyriel nocks another arrow and looses it at the knight, then throws a mocking salute to Cal, before dropping off the tower with a sly grin,
Longbow attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24 oh whoops, call that a 23, forgot my masterwork bow already has the enhancement to atk

Whoops, I was waiting for a 'start'. My bad. As Kyriel moves towards the opening in the wall, he pulls his bow into his hands, and takes careful aim at the short, laughing man, hoping he's not been noticed. He carefully draws, aims, and looses.
Not using my prescience die roll...

"Nukilik, Karl. How much higher up do we have to go?" Kyriel asks, pausing for just a moment at the bodies of the guards."I'll want just a moment to prepare before we confront our quarry, ideally." Perception, guard corpses: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Kyriel looks around as Karl tries the each of doors in succession.
"Karl, what's at the end of the hall?"
44/44 HP | AC: 23 T: 17 FF: 16 | CMD: 23[25 vs trip] | Init: +8 | Fort: +7 Ref: +7 Will: +6 | Perception: +7 [-3 to hit, +5 AC when fighting defensively & using combat expertise]
Whatever they're planning, it must have already started! Kyriel exclaims in a hushed tone. He draws his sword into his hand, head pivoting from side to side looking around the room.
Nukilik, Karl. Which way is the Commander? You've been here before, right? We need to hurry!

"Go see Father Holbrook, he'll know what to do. We've gotta get to Balentyne, and fast!" Kyriel adds, before falling into line behind Karl, who's already started down the tunnel.

It's pretty much exactly halfway between Schenectady and Amsterdam. Definitely a bright spot. Though Schenectady is doing AMAZING (downtown especially), particularly if you haven't been up here in a while. The last decade or so it's improved about a hundredfold.

Glad to hear you're handling it well, hope the rest of your family is too. I hope you enjoy your time in real New York as much as you can, given the circumstances. Bonus Recommendation: Check out Wolf Hollow Brewery on 5. It's relatively new-ish, and a cool place to relax and decompress on the weekend. Nice big round tables and they encourage board games etc. Beer's really good if that's your thing, and they do BBQ too. source: I live pretty close to Amsterdam

Heh, yeah. And Kyriel might have shown a little more restraint if the dude hadn't been so obviously guilty, evil, and in the middle of executing a big old fashioned murder plan. Still, he knows enough not to undermine efforts unless things get really unpalatable.

"Still got that drawing of the basement we found? I should imagine the circled bit on the wall is our passage to Balentyne, and Bellam, of course." Kyriel looks to Karl, then Nukilik, Cal, and then back to the prisoner, which a sly frown. "Why, I do believe I've just removed that bit of leverage. Quite sorry. What else can you do for us? Or for him, rather?" Kyriel gestures back towards Cal and Mathilda. "Or for yourself. How ever you'd like to look at it-- but I suggest you think quickly." |
