End Chapter Two

Chapter Three: Largo

Your group is reassembled after taking an aside to compete in some local festivities. You prepare for a dangerous journey across the Humming Hills by making some essential purchases. Once your group has departed and reached an isolated point, Kronos, the Ancient appears before you. His is an image of frailty at this moment. He does not pull himself from the ether, but instead, he approaches you hobbling from the distance, gesturing you closer.
"This land. Something here. It weakens me. You must find this power. Use it. For that which can harm me can surely harm my protégé. I cannot help you directly from here. You must know though that I am working to aid you though you may not always see it. Here. " He stands upright shortly and gestures towards the group after taking some laboured breaths. His voice speaks with a booming resonance, that seems to clash with the ringing of the crystals that protrude from the ground. "GROW!" Each of you is encased in light and you feel your muscles being stimulated. Your minds race and your blood boils. Finally, the effect ceases. You are not entirely sure how, but you feel stronger now. Everyone Level Up! Kronos stumbles back and clutches his staff for support. "That is the last I can do for you before you leave my immediate guard. Good luck. " Kronos then begins to hobble away back into the distance.

As a homebrew campaign, this is not based in Golarion. A background should be constructed based on the PC guide and Terra Vicis.

He turns to the woman from a moment ago, and nods his head with a look of sympathy and guilt before disappearing into the ether.

You form a protective ring around Kronos, and he listens to your words, but he steps out from your group.
" No it is well and good. They have every right to be mad, and to be mad at me. I am to blame for causing the state of the world. Let these people have their frustrations out on me if they so choose it. "
With that Kronos opens himself up to the crowd. There is a pause, as some people look across at each other for what to do. One woman after a moment, cries and screams as she stabs at him with a kitchen knife It sinks deep into Kronos' chest, and he begins to bleed. She stabs repeatedly at him and more and more blood gushes forth, but Kronos stands tall. With each passing blow, you can hear him speak to her over her screams
I'm so sorry. You have every right. I know there is no excuse."
" Shut up! You killed my brother! My family! Shut Up! "
She tires after a few moments, and collapses crying. Kronos, still bloodied, stoops to help her. She looks into his eyes, and something changes about her. She wipes her eyes and returns to the group, to be held by the other women their. Kronos seems to be mortally wounded, but he moves about normally. It is an unnerving sight. At this, no one else comes forward. They sheath their weapons.
This display brings forth many questions for you, not the least of which is just how Kronos survives after such a grievous wound.

The rest of the group looks frightened at the drow, but they are slowed, as though like shadows of their real selves. At Sumatek's defense, they come back up to speed. Some draw weapons, some move scared away from the dark elf, but they do not act. At what Sumatek says, Kronos responds:
"You would be well within your rights to hate my people, but I thank you for your maturity. I choose most often to travel under another guise. As to the egg, it has been my experience that life is a funny and tenacious thing. Perhaps Thundrik lives on through this small creature, perhaps this is what you make of it and nothing more. "

Kronos tells you that the best bet for finding a Lieutenant of his son is to go where Kronos the Ancient cannot travel. He advises you that the nearest location is Startville to the south. At this some members of the group become disquited.

" What are you saying exactly? That there's some sort of military force moving into my home? I've only just regained freedom and my family is under attack? This is your fault! You and your people! "

A number of people come forth with their weapons and attempt to attack Kronos.

Initiative and action

Chapter Two: The Animal Within

" Hah! Most aversions of that nature caused by lack of exposure. I can assure you my child, I have a breadth of experience that permits me to travel most places unharmed. Besides this, " His ebony eyes glint and you can see the stars in them A little magic goes a long way. Speaking of which, I have a gift for your group. "

Kronos hands you a large scroll with magical writing upon it, and some magical components in jars and bottles.

"Since the work ahead of you will be extensive and difficult, I thought you would like a place to return to for rest in between combat. Lay these objects in a circle as I will show you, then choose your word of power. Speak your word of power at any time and you will be brought back to the circle. You may return as many times as you like, but you may only lay the circle once, so choose your safe haven wisely. The magic will work return you from most places, but I cannot assure you that it will always work where you are. "

" I once loved the young Kronos as my own son. I trained him over the years and he developed to be a mirror of me in many ways. However, where I found balance and respect for the fragile mortality of life, he found contempt. He saw those without immortal life as being inferior to himself. He now seeks to destroy the world as recreate it in his own image. So to answer your question, he is my son in the sense that I created him. Whether or not he is of my blood directly is inconsequential. "

Kronos speak with absolute sincerity. There is not the hint of deception in his voice or mannerisms. " You should head north out of the town and hold right to leave. There will be a water hazard for you to face, but I am confident in your abilities to succeed if you take your time. Follow the water downstream until you see the light of day and you will be free. Now if there are no more questions, I must not stay too long. Every moment sent here may alert the Son to our plans."

" Witness, my child, this man is you. So are the rest of these people. You are connected to all living things. This is all that you need to know. If you wish to seek the answers, you must take that journey alone. "

Kronos takes the rapier presented to him by Sumatek and examines it thoroughly. As he looks it over, he responds to Sumatek's observations.

Kronos turns to Witness. "A change of perspective, old friend. The details will return later. You need to remember now that you are a part of something larger than yourself. One of many."
Kronos then turns to Casvian's question, addressing the whole group.
"My protégé was indeed instrumental in the creation of the tale. He affected the mind of that prophet those many years ago. The fabrication of this story was multifunctional. Kronos set a motivating deadline for himself, and he is now able to take advantage of the chaos and panic to complete the implementation of his plans. As far as the realization of the prophecy's claims, that is where you come in. I suggest you get out of the underdark here. Return the freed slaves to their families, and prepare yourselves for the coming storm. Make your allies, gather your faculties, say your prayers. I suggest you return to Startville. It is the closest urban location in the light. Be on guard though as you are there. Kronos, the Son has a lieutenant nearby to there. I can tell you that they have not struck yet, but something is coming. I need you to investigate. You might start by speaking to the locals there. Now, I suggest you return to the temple and gather the others for your ascent."

"That sort of magic would be kept in the back chambers of the drow temple. I shall retrieve it for you. " Kronos waves his hands with incredible speed and dexterity. Then he hands you your rod of metamagic as though pulled from out of the air.

Kronos looks at Sumatek and frowns at him. He begins as though this conversation were already an ongoing debate. His response is in

" Aside from what you can see here , most supplies would be either destroyed or used up by the people of the town. Lashilsh was also very passionate about darkness. She saw it as the embrace of power around her. Most mundane light sources are destroyed once brought into the city. Items for healing would have been used to keep the slaves and the people alive and prepared for work and raids. Is there a specific object you seek?"

" Have you any other questions for me, my children? " He surveys the room.

Turning to Alric. " I did what I could. My powers are much reduced from what they oft' can be. In particular when around the Son's lieutenants. I am sorry that I could not have provided more assistance. "

A tree of many fruits. I knew you would like it."

As your group approaches, he sweeps his hand briskly, as though swatting a fly. The rubble that had been brought down a moment ago disappears, leaving only bodies behind. With the tunnel repaired as though nothing had ever happened, the bodies of the dead seem strangely out of place. It looks as though they had just resigned to lie down in the tunnel and not to rise again.

" This dark elf has been touched by my protégé, and has barred me from entering this place. She represents the last resistance of the drow here. You are safe for the time being. Dwarven burials are a very important rite and should not be overlooked or taken lightly. "

He awaits your questioning.
