Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

I'm leaving tomorrow for 10 days in Ireland. I should have access to the intrawebs. So I will be posting, but not as regularly as usual.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan draws his mace and follows a good distance behind the halfling. With his armor, he knows better than to try to be sneaky.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan sighs as the scout skulks off, "It is dangerous to predict whether a creature is fated to do good or ill. I will help with those who are dangerous now to the town, but I will not be helping anyone kill anything that is helpless. You do not kill ALL the deer when they are too numerous and harmful, you reduce them to managable numbers."

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Obviously I see it now that you pointed it out :-)

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan nods at Lipp, "Exactly, and why is the gate destroyed? Also, are we killing women and children? Or only those with weapons? We should wait a second and talk this through."

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan downs his drinks with the rest of the party and smiles at the others' antics. He nods at Khelvor's pronouncement and throws his blanket roll over his shoulder. "The stars last night were more favorable for a positive outcome. I'm much more confident in our success today."

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan spends much of the night studying the stars in a field near Koya's wagon. The next morning he walks into the inn early whistling a quiet tune, his burden lightened by his evening under the night sky. He sits at a table near the door waiting for the rest of the party.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan thanks Proudfoot with a smile and steps out into the eerily quiet swamp. He nods in agreement with Lipp, "Let's get moving. We can decide as we go since both options start the same way."

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Who wants the cloak?

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan wordlessly helps Jix hoist the body before entering the cabin. Afterwards, he finds a quiet corner to sit in, but just as he begins to sit down the chair shifts slightly to one side and he topples to the ground. His face is a shade redder as he stands and brushes off his clothing. He holds the chair firmly in place as he sits a second time. Yes, yes, I should have done more and now look what has happened. But signs were strong that we were heading towards danger, and one can not fight fate.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

I'm here. I was more waiting for things to move forward a bit, but I'll put a post up soon.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

It just sounds like you are not used to some of the conventions that more experienced tabletop rpg'ers take for granted. Don't worry about it, we'll teach you 8-). Paladins put more restrictions on other players, but the can make for good confict too. You just cant go too far. That is the nature of the game though, to cooperate for everyone to have fun.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

That's what I thought you were goin for, just a little overboard to start 8-).

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

You also should realize that a paladin will not travel with someone who is commiting evil acts, whether the paladin needs you or not. Now stealing isn't an evil act, but it IS unlawful. So a paladin will go to whatever reasonable lengths to correct it. Some conflict about such things can be fun, but total disregard for it will make the character unplayable in a largely good group.

The key is knowing that even CE people will follow basic social conventions to avoid excessive consequences. They are careful to hide their excesses in their own self-interest. I'm not saying that you should be pleasant, but only madmen, autistics, or someone who has the reasonable expectation of no consequences will act totally without regards to others' expectations. If you want to steal stuff, fine then either be more careful or realize that the group will not travel with you for long. And if you want to be annoying, then that is ok too, as long as you do not go too far overboard. My friends and I don't hang around totally annoying people, and our characters probably wouldn't either.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan's eyes widen in surprise at the mention of the missing item, but he quickly recovers and places a hand softly on Khelvor's arm. "Let's not overreact my friend. We are all here for a purpose, and let's not be sidelined from our just cause." He looks at Jix meaningfully, "Besides, I'm sure this is just a misunderstanding. Return the "bauble" Jix, and then we may proceed freely, as there has been no harm done."

Krojan cocks an eyebrow at the newly arrived ratfolk, "Jix is it? Well Jix, since this 'priss' fell in battle with us, we are going to respect his wishes and see that the body is interred properly. The fact that he hid his true nature is of no consequence. If you would like to accompany us as we hunt goblins, then another weapon would be helpful. Your attitude toward us other potential corpses will need to be adjusted though. I for one, value my life and my death more than you do apparently."

He turns to the rest of the group, "If Master Proudstump is fairly certain that an attack is not going to happen right away, then I say we take him up on his hospitality and start fresh in the morning. As was said, the swamp is a much more dangerous place at night. Does anyone know about the burial practices of the followers of Shelyn?" He looks expectantly to Vishki about his last question.

Vishki, you could make a Knowledge:Religion check untrained about the burial practices.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Once the Khelvor realizes his attempts to rouse Nakitu are in vain, Krojan slowly approaches and begins to arrange the body. Before covering the broken body with his blanket the oracle softly says, "As the sun now sets in the sky, so are all mortals' lives fated to fade from this plane. We shall celebrate his life as his goddess would prefer and will inter the body as she dictates." This took a bad turn indeed.

After a moment, Krojan stands and looks to the others, "But, was that foul creature telling the truth? Is Sandpoint truly in danger?"

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Seeing the creature reveal it's true self, Krojan takes a step back and unleashes a wave of negative energy at the mimic hoping to scare it and keep it from attacking the others.

Cause Fear: DC 15 Will save

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

That wizard should have NEVER run into melee, especially without mirror images and other defensive spells up. That is what your familiar is for! Better yet summon a monster to damage/inconvenience your foe. Anyway, Riftrun it seems you like the manipulative/ support kind of character. Those are always going to be squishy. Just remember that you need to play them cautiously. Distance is their friend. Let the rogue and fighter types go put themselves in danger. Hang back and REALLY win the fight, letting them think their damage dealing mattered. A fighter is just a summoned monster that someone else care whether they lived or died 8-).

Sigh, the dicebot hates me in all games.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Teach me to have a few drinks and fall asleep. You all go and get someone killed :-).

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

As Krojan considers the situation his cloak billows in the wind, uncomfortably pulling on his neck. Grasping at the brooch holding the cloak he notices that there is no wind currently blowing across the lagoon. He clears his throat nervously, "I agree, we should move now while we can make a difference. Our fates call to us." And not all of those fates may be pleasant.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Before Vishki can respond to the halfling Krojan steps up and nods his head at the halfling. "You are Master Proudfoot, I assume? I am Krojan and my companions and I are out here to address some goblin issues for Sandpoint. Shalelu suggested that you might be able to help us find Gutwad and the Licktoad tribe. You seem to be injured though? Could I offer you some healing?"

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Yeah, it was my mistake. I always thought inspire courage was all morale bonuses, but I think I still want to go with Cause Fear and change it out at 4th level.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Bless still wouldn't stack with your self-buff and Nakitu has Inspire Courage, so it seem redundant.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Forget that second one, wrong level.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

DB- Would it be possible for me to change 2 of my spells out before it has any in game effect?

First, I would like to change Bless to Cause Fear because we essentially have 2 bards in the group and do not need another morale bonus that would not stack.

Second, I would like to change Cure Light Wounds to Blessing of Courage and Life because I liked BCL better once read it.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan pauses as the group reaches the cabin, the splash echoing through the swamp. "Anyone else have a bad feeling about this?" He looks around with his hand on his mace.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Sorry, assumed one roll on the perception.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Krojan does not flinch at the noise, although he does take a quick glance. Seeing nothing, Krojan shrugs and makes a quick sign to ward evil as he assumes the noise is just his "friend" trying to play tricks on him.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan drops to the rear and survey's the eclectic group from behind. He strokes his chin with his thumb and wonders, Is this the group I would choose if I were going into a dangerous situation? With all the lively characters and the light-hearted mood it has the look of a traveling troupe of players, although a well armed one. Hmmph, watch yourself Krojan, this could take a bad turn very quickly.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan smiles uneasily at Magnauk's certainty, "Well, it is a wonderful day, but we'll have to see about whether we can enact that justice successfully. I just pray none of us gets hurt."

Arriving at the inn, Krojan greets the others with a smile and a nod. He scrounges whatever food maybe left and gives Ameiko a pat on the shoulder as he passes her, "Thank you for the wonderful send off!"

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Sorry, my wife had me moving all Memorial Day weekend. It is a uncharacteristic lapse for me.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojan woke to the noises of the people moving about the caravan. He had slept under Koya's wagon, since his former caravan had already moved on. He climbed out from under the wagon, stretching as the warm sunlight warmed him in the chilly morning air. Some people believed the sun was only the domain of Sarenrae, but they forget it is only one body in the wide heavens. The Mother Moon preferred the night when she was most visible, but she was far from absent during the day. Krojan smiled at this minor revelation, silently thanking the goddess for her illumination. He quickly gathered his meager belongings and hugged Koya, barely managing to be ready to join Magnauk on his way to the inn. "I trust you slept well, Magnauk. I noticed you made an early night of it last night."

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Seeing that people are starting to depart, Krojan suggests, "So shall we meet back here tomorrow morning and depart? Well, those who wish to go, that is."

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Krojun stands near Sandru, enjoying his stories. From time to time he looks over at Koya and smiles. He can't believe how good it is to see her, and Sandru too. He seems uninterested in the goblin bounty at first, as he had a few gold in his pocket from the last caravan he worked. Suddenly it occurs to him, I could get Koya a gift! Something to take her mind from Nish. He only thinks of Niska by his pet name for her, his fond memories of her helping him explore his gift keeping his mood from becoming somber. His face beams as he is about to volunteer, but he is interrupted by Louise's outburst. He waits a moment after she offers her sword before speaking up, "I too would be willing to help with this goblin 'problem'."

I have Knowledge Geography and Diplomacy

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

I'm good with keeping the caravan managment, but I woukd suggest that we will need a details oriented player to help you keep track of all the added level of details. I'm sort of meh about the minor encounters. I would like enough to get the sense that the road is dangerous, but not so much to bog us down. I'm also fine losing XP and just leveling at the appropriate times.
@Nakitu The best part is that the spell should be useful much longer due to my mystery. It can even be worth Heightening it to make the DC higher later on.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens/1 (HP: 11 of11)

Thanks for selecting Krojun DB, although I had to change his name slightly because there was already a Krojun alias on the board. I'm planning to have Krojun do a lot of control spells with my Awesome Display Mystery, but that will not really kick in until 2nd level when I get Color Spray.
