I think the mechanical part of Kraig is finished. As I cast my mind back to Kraig's younger days, I recall a time when Kraig accidentally soloed a boss when he got separated from the group because grapple is dumb powerful. It was kinda boring. So while Kraig still has some resources devoted to grappling and will be able to shut down a single target when needed, I didn't go full bore on grappling. Pummeling Style gives Kraig pounce and allows him to pool his full attacks into a single application of damage to help him overcome damage reduction. I bought +1 handwraps with a furyborn enchantment. The furyborn enchantment increases the item bonus on the weapon they're attached to by 1 each time the weapon hits the same enemy. I thought about doing the usual chilling or flaming or whatever, but furyborn seemed cooler. I ended up taking the Mutagenic Mauler and Shield Champion archetypes. The Shield Champion gives Kraig some ranged capability, but he's never gonna be good enough at range to write home about.

Kraig isn't the tankiest tank that ever tanked, but the Spontaneous Healing mutagen effectively gives him +25 temp HP/day, the Drunken Brawler feat gives him +11 temp HP per hour as long as he has alcohol, and the drinking horn gives him temp HP up to three times a day as well. His damage should be pretty good having pounce and all.

Brawlers get poor skill points and fairly useless class skills. I did what I could but it wasn't much.

The stats in the profile are assuming unbuffed, but since mutagen lasts two hours at level 11 it's fairly safe to assume that will have 100% uptime in combat. Ideally someone will either prepare Enlarge Person's to cast on Kraig or use a wand for the same purpose so, space allowing, that will also be up every combat.

I spent almost a third of Kraig's gold on a Drinking Horn of Bottomless Valor. Seemed like the kind of thing Kraig needs. Assuming there isn't a limit on gold spent per single item, of course.

What's your thoughts on drinking alcohol in game? If you strictly hold to Paizo's alcohol/drugs/addiction rules, a casual wine tasting would kill a dwarf barbarian. Kraig gets some bonuses from drinking alcohol, but if the negatives are crippling I'll allocate those resources elsewhere.

Alls left is to add to Kraig's story to get him to the party but let's be honest: This isn't the first time Kraig has woke to find himself chained naked to a metal table and it will probably not be the last.

Is there any limit on how much gold can be spent on a single item? Kraig only really needs a few expensive magic items, but don't want the existing players to feel putout by a new character coming in with perfectly optimal items while they had to make due with what the AP gave them.

HP: 10d10 ⇒ (4, 8, 5, 1, 2, 1, 5, 3, 6, 10) = 45

Well below average.

KRAIG was originally made for an Iron Gods PBP waaay back when the AP came out. Got to around level five I think and then real life took me away. Kraig is a boisterous bruiser that loves to fight and drink and brew and doesn’t really understand advanced things like flashlights. A simple man that just wants live a good life. When last I left him, he had just drank a potion of enlarge person to go toe-to-toe with a giant troll. A truly tragic place to leave off his story and I’ve always wanted to get around to playing him again.

Kraig is an unarchetyped brawler. He’s really good at grappling. He’s level one right now, I resubmitted him to another Iron Gods campaign. I’ll level him up to 11 in the next day or two. He would fulfill the combat roll of frontline fighter and is great at locking down one or two opponents. Out of combat he can... help get everyone drunk! Which is probably how he ended up in the Scar of the Spider.

Edit: I miiight take the Mutagenic Mauler archetype and flavor it as his beloved mead giving him strength. Not sure yet.

I added a little bit to Kraig's backstory. Nothing amazing, he's a simple man. I do have a couple questions. I apologize for the lateness of them.

1: A chaotic good fighter can take Cayden Cailean's Divine Fighting Technique at level one in exchange for their shield proficiency. Would I be able to give up Kraig's shield proficiency to take the Divine Fighting Technique, since Brawlers count as fighters for feats? If no, not a big deal. If yes, I'll do that and change the Bred for War trait for the Fortified Drinker trait and work towards taking the Drunken Brawler feat at level 5.

1A: How would you run alcohol consumption? Per Paizo's rules for drugs and addiction, three bottles of beer would literally kill the average person. I won't do the drunken brawler thing if that's the case since it's kinda pointless to put a bunch of resources towards something you could only do a couple times a day before dying or falling into a coma.

I made this guy for an Iron Gods campaign back when the AP had just come out, but had to leave after we got started for work reasons. Would like to get another opportunity to finish it. Human brawler, Combat roll is frontline fighter. Grapples and punches things. If it can't be grappled and/or punched he might be in trouble. Out of combat, he's good at serving beers and has intimidate, perception, and know Local. You can look at post history for his personality. He's very loud and plays the lout, but also caring and good-hearted.

I try to post twice a day, but I travel for work so the time of day I post tends to vary quite a bit.

Male Human

The situation here is far worse than I was initially led too believe so I am regretably going to have to drop out of the campaign. Thanks for the adventure everyone, and good luck.

Male Human

Alright folks, I'm leaving tomorrow. I'll try to keep posting, but if it's not practical, ILU you guys and it's been fun.

Male Human

Charge across to that green thing. Provoke AOO from the orc.

"Argh! Why are these green creatures so weak? I expected more." Kraig ignores the unsmashed orc and charges the troll. "You! Impress me!"
Unarmed Charge: 1d20 + 9 + 3 + 2 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 3 + 2 + 2 - 1 = 33
Magic damage: 1d8 + 4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 3 + 2 = 11

Male Human

"Yes! I am the god of war!" Kraig bellows. The giant man rushes towards the right hand column of orcs.

Can't move my token but should be able to reach bottom right orc with my 10' reach.

Unarmed Charge: 1d20 + 9 + 3 + 2 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 3 + 2 + 2 - 1 = 27
Magic Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 3 + 2 = 14

Male Human

Enlarge person on Kraig please? What caster level were out Bulls Strength potions? Start Grappling Style.

Kraig drinks one of the black potions they found earlier and feels strength surge through him. "Our opponents just keep getting uglier as time goes by."

Male Human

Yeah we might as well push through the last chapter. Gonna need a few days to regain those HPS though.

Male Human

"I don't see why, it's full of people who eat each other." Kraig looks up at where the sky would be if they weren't inside. "So there's another world up there just droppin' metal boxes full of doors and ghosts on us. Wonderful. We should build... a giant net, to catch them all."

Male Human

"Yeaaaah, you can fly to another world. If you could do that then wouldn't all the birds be gone?"

Male Human

Kraig goes with Nyssa and Cem to make sure they don't get mugged by a toddler with a spoon.

Male Human

Yeah, someone else is gonna have to track loot. I've got to go out of the country on a job soon and won't have time to do it. If I disappear one day it's cuz posting isn't feasible, not cuz I hate you guys. But I'll try to keep posting.

Male Human

"How do we go about restoring their vitalities? Shouldn't killing the ghost have undone the curse or whatever? I think that's how it works. Maybe they have to eat its remains to gain its powers."

Male Human

Sweet, those are the only classes we don't have in our party.

"So, anybody know what happened back there? Where do ghosts like that come from? Some of you look pretty bad. Not you, Nyssa, you're still adorable, but Čemifobbar looks tired."

Male Human

Kraig returns angrily to the ship. "What was that? I didn't think ghosts were real. Nyssa, when did you have time to do this?" He kneels down with Nyssa and brushes the white hair from her face.

Kraig looks fine, at least outwardly. He always looks fine. It's really hard to tell beyond the hair, truth be told.

Male Human

Kraig takes a last hopeless swipe at the creature. "Damn you, you thing. It's getting away!!! Somebody do something!"
Unarmed AOO: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 9 + 2 + 1 = 17
Magic Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 2 = 14
Kraig chases the creature out but it disperses into the fog.

Male Human

"Come back! I want to redeem you with my fists. Alexis my dear, excuse me." Kraig moves through the sparkly ghost to try and cut it off.

Acrobatics to avoid AOO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Unarmed: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 2 + 1 = 30
Magic Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12

Male Human

"It's actually a ghost this time!" Kraig moves around Iophiel and swipes at the sparkly ghost. "Tell me ghost, were you too once a paladin?"

Unarmed: 1d20 + 9 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 2 + 1 = 19
Magic Damage: 1d8 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 2 = 10

Male Human

So can we see the orb thingy or is it supposed to be invisible?

Male Human

Kraig looks around, dazed by the vision. It was similar to the one that plant-thing induced on them under Torch. There must be another one nearby. He wakes from his stupor by the sounds of shambling and broken glass. The pod people have risen. "Demons! I trusted you to guard our things and you stab me in the back. Looks like it's just me and you, Kharamell. Give me a moment to gather myself, and we'll teach these creatures the price of their treachery. I'll hold them down and you shoot them, huh?" Kraig is glad he doesn't need his hands to fight. He wouldn't want to fight in the dark. He steps back from the monsters to get a brief moment to clear his head, and feels his wounds from the previous day heal a bit more. Weird. Kharamell must be a cleric.

5 foot step NW, standard action to cast the CSW thing we got, move action to use martial flexibility to pick up Dodge, free action to start grabbing style.

Cure Serious Wounds: 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (7, 5, 6) + 3 = 21

Male Human

Kraig picks up the "heavy weapon". "This looks like it could do some damage. Kharamell! What is this thing?"

Male Human

"Well I'm not carrying this stuff." Kraig nudges the two-foot cylinder with his foot. "We can leave these guys to watch it. They're not going anywhere."

Male Human

Kraig looks around the northern room. "Dragons melted these walls. Damn dragons. Always destroying things." If this room provides nothing else, he moves around to check the other room. When he gets to the southern room he notes "More tube people. Be wary of cannibals."
Perception North Room: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Perception East Room: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Perception South Room: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Male Human

Kraig steps gingerly into the craft. "Careful guys, this looks like a smaller version of that nest we were at yesterday. Watch out for baby...what was that thing called again? Steve. I think it said its name was Steve."

Male Human

Dammit Demonmoose, I was gonna ask her what her elf-eyes see. You're ruining Kraig. Is it dark/does the fog extend inside?

Kraig shines his light through the doors, sweeping the beam around whatever lies inside.
Per: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

Male Human

Kraig approaches Tessara, grinning and with rope in hand. "This should be fun!"

Male Human

I vote yes!

Male Human

Kraig laughs loudly. "That's the best idea I've ever heard. Let's do it."

Male Human

I have a potion of CMW, and everyone but Nyssa can cast 1xCL3 CSW, so if the ghosts prove hostile we should be ok. Not sure why we still don't have a wand of cure :) Anyways, take ten on perception as we travel for 20, unless the fog is preventing from taking ten.

"I'll go first. You lot are too...jumpy." Kraig takes the string and leads the way with his flashlight, not terribly effective in the fog. "We should have brought a big fire to burn off this mist. There's something out there. Maybe we should climb the wall, get a birds eye view."

Even though we have a 'group pocket', doesn't someone still have to actually carry the items? I'll assume not and put down only what I want and can actually carry.

We have our carriage and now our base to store things. Kraig only carries what's listed in his combat gear/ gear/currently equipped tabs in his profile, so if someone wants him to bring something from the group loot they need to speak up.

As a non-caster non-weapon user, Kraig can really only take advantage of a few specific items, none of which we have, so IDC who does what with what.

Male Human

Kraig is still pretty beat up from the unusually strenuous day before, but doesn't show it.
"Our record with ghosts so far is pretty good, we can save these ones too."

Male Human

"Oh good, we can have a human-ish head to hang from the old Smilers' front door. Wonderful."

Male Human

Anyone wanna detect magic?

Male Human

"This seems dangerous. We should petition the city council to have this mess cleaned out." Kraig says, and makes his way out of the nest.

per: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Male Human

"We tried to be friendly..." Kraig throws his last spear.

Kraig will try to position himself so he's next to the manticore if it goes straight down.

Shortspear Range: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 - 2 = 9
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9

Male Human

Kraig sidesteps the barbs this time and returns with another spear.

Shortspear Range: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 1 - 4 = 22
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8

Male Human

"That is the last time I try talking to anyone in this stupid town." Kraig laments while he pulls the barbs from his body, hoping they're not venomous. Perhaps he should have Kharamell show him how to use that inferno pistol they found. He draws one of his shortspears and aims it at the creature. It's a long shot.

Shortspear Ranged: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 6 - 4 = 12
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Hopefully his efforts will at least distract the creature from his more effective friends. Kraig may be the most mundane member of the party, but he was the most intimidating-looking.

Kraig calls forth the power of Cayden Cailean, transforms into a bolt of lightning, and streaks towards the monster...

Male Human

Kraig nudges Alexis in the ribs. "HAH! I told you it was smart!" He calls up to the creature. "We just wanna be friends, come down and talk to us!"

Male Human

"You said it has a persons head, it must have a persons brain. Gonna get some weird disease from this rusty stuff." Kraig picks through the debris.
Per: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Male Human

That's the Italian spelling.

Male Human

Can you press really hard on both ends to see the charge?

Male Human

Well this doesn't look like a trap at all.
"Maybe we should ally ourselves with it. Are they intelligent?"
Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Some use them as such, but my interest is in their use powering items.

The disks are depleted batteries, I believe, so we would need to find a way to charge them. I've been holding on to them in case we ran into people who used only disks for currency.

Male Human

Manticore makes sense, Kraig still can't punch ghosts.

"What is a manticore, anyways?" Kraig ponders. Ridding their temporary home of magical beasts is as good an idea as any till they learned more about what they were up against here.

Male Human

I'm too sick to think, I'll let you guys decide.

I'm OK with going back to Torch, but we're doing fine as we are so I don't think we're desperate to do so. I just assumed since Scrapwall was the size of Torch it would have Torch-level economy, that's why I suggested selling things now. No big deal.

Male Human

Kraig invests his Scrapworth in the scrap market, hoping to see big short-term gains. Or we could spend the time cleaning our base and exploring the town. I don't think Kraig has anything he needs to do. He's not really interested in socializing.
