Special Equipment: Kel Dor suffer limitations outside their native atmosphere. Without protective goggles, a Kel Dor is considered Blind. Without an Antiox Breath Mask, a Kel Dor begins to Suffocate. An Antiox Breath Mask is poisonous to other Species.

Background
--------------------
Kon Laan is a padawan of middling talent, trained from a very young age like many of the new Jedi order. He has spent much of his early age sequestered in the most recent iteration of Jedi training, with a smattering of his culture's own Baran Do tradition. Like most padawans, his experience with the broader galaxy is somewhat limited. Instead a great deal of his time has been spent in his grueling training.
Kon Laan is not especially strong in the Force, so he has had to dedicate a significant amount of time and energy to developing his skills. He is, however, possessed of strong insight and a very stable mind. His tendency to analyze problems from a contextual basis and to evaluate the long-term consequences of actions has guided him well in finding a balanced approach to the Force, and to life in general.
In recent years, Kon has been taken by his mentor to work as an assistant in various efforts, primarily diplomatic or strategic ones. While he still has much to learn, he hopes that he can be useful. He moderates expectations, realizing that his limited skill set does not afford him much room for mistakes, nor the opportunity to make substantial contributions, but he expects that as his knowledge base improves, he may be able to help broker peace and cultural bridges in trouble spots in various parts of the galaxy.
Appearance: As is typical of the species, Kon has orange-pink skin and thick gray fingernails, black eyes (usually covered by special goggles) and tough, hairless leathery skin. He has a pattern of radial lines along his forehead that take a down and outward direction, which humans sometimes erroneously consider an expression of surprise or anxiety. He usually projects a serene disposition and he tends to make small gestures and move cautiously. His vocoder-modulated voice (with his breather mask) is slightly gravelly but not particularly obnoxious or offputting to most humanoids.
Personality: Kon Laan tends to be a long-term thinker. He also has a strong sense of empathy, not necessarily in term of Force sensitivity, but rather in his ability to consider positions from many angles and to see the problems of other people in their own context. This affords him the ability to understand interpersonal problems, or even cultural and interspecies ones, on a deep level, an ability that was cultivated during his training with the Jedi order.
Kon also has a fondness for "old star tales" and likes to collect fables and especially morality stories. He gathers tales about Jedi and the Force, as well as of other non-Jedi Force-using traditions, but also loves all kinds of ghost stories, myths, and legends about mysteries of the galaxy.
Kon considers violence somewhat distasteful but realizes that in the Jedi's role as essentially rogue agents operating on behalf of the state outside of its auspices - something that exasperates him greatly due to the extreme potential for severe corruption - the Jedi will often find themselves in dangerous situations and confronting criminal or genocidal elements, and that violence may be required in such conflicts.
While Kon has a strong sense of discipline and devotion to the training of the Jedi Order, he does not eschew practical technology. He finds the insistence of some anchorite members of the tradition amusing.
Kon's diet is sharply limited due to his species limitations, so it is hard for him to "share meals" with his colleagues. He does not like playing games, but loves telling stories, and hearing them as well. He treats animals well but does not keep pets. He is wary around children, primarily because he does not wish to cause accidental harm or offense and he realizes that children are very impressionable.
Concept: Kon is essentially a young statesman, insightful and educated, a good advisor with a broad sense of galactic affairs and an education in the ways of the Jedi order and the Force. Of course, as a Jedi his responsibilities also include policing and even military duties, which he considers an unfortunate conflation of roles - to Kon, the roles of politician, priest, policeman, and soldier should not be blurred, because their agendas are different and using the powers of one to achieve the agenda of another can lead to very bad outcomes (for instance, using soldiers' weapons and tactics to perform policing - which leads to militarized police that treat civilians as enemy combatants). His Force skills are not the greatest - he is not a "Chosen One" or especially gifted, nor does the Order expect him to be a great Jedi Master - but he is not supposed to be a mighty lightsaber duelist or extraordinarily talented prodigy. He recognizes that just like there are some problems that can't be solved well with a blaster, some can't be solved well simply by using the Force; as a result, he focuses on a well-rounded approach that lets him forge interpersonal connections when violence or "space magic" would be a suboptimal solution.
