Hello everyone,

I have just moved to west/southwest suburbs of Chicago and I am looking for people who would want to start putting a group together. I have a store that is available to meet up in but am just trying to drum up some more people to get tables going.

I had been organizing OP in Pittsburgh for the past 3 years and I'm looking forward to continue here! Let me know if you're interested and what day/evening works best for you. Have a good one!

Hey Steven,

I sent you a message on BGG, but I also wanted to hit you up here. I currently organize OP at Gamemaster's in Ross Township. We'd love to have you there if you're looking for some PACG with a solid group. Feel free to message me if you have other questions or want to chat. Looking forward to hearing from you.

My wife and I are newer to the game and have been wanting to get into organized play. We travel a lot between Pittsburgh and Erie, PA and have a few people here and there to play with, but would really prefer to get into a more structured group.

Anyone from those areas know of any inviting groups? Since we're new to this, is it possible to jump into an existing group that's midway through a season? How would that work?

For reference, we live in the Cranberry Township, PA area near Pittsburgh and travel to see family in the Millcreek area around Erie a few times a month.

I just sent you a PM feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

We have room for more people and we have a lot of different skill levels.

I thought this maybe a good question to field for those of us who love the game, would love to come to this event, but live a solid 4 hours away.

Besides the obvious value of getting to hang out with wonderful people and playing an obviously great game.

How many scenarios do you typically get through/attempt at HawkCons?

The reason why I ask is because there are three of us who would most likely be able and willing to make the trek, however, like most, the time spent traveling will be significant. I'd love to be able to come out and play some more with you guys again though!

This was a heck out of a lot of fun! Thank you Theryon Stormrune and Cartmanbeck. Thank you Hawkmoon, Calthaer and Eliandra. It was great to meet everyone and put a name and a face to the posts. Thanks for being so welcoming and we're looking forward to playing with you guys again hopefully!

As the other Monk, Athnul, at the tables, I was always ready for a fight so long as I had a card in hand to recharge.

Thanks to Bodhana Group for organizing things. It gave me a few ideas for some work that could be done here in the Pittsburgh area.

I was just looking at the adventure list on all of the Adventure Paths associated with Season of the Righteous. All of the Adventure Paths, except for Adventure 4, have a different title listed. Adventure 4's title is "The Mighty and the Fallen" on the Adventure Paths, however, the title of Adventure 4 says "The Mighty and the Righteous". Obviously, not a huge mistake problem but I wanted to bring it up. Thank you!

I'm playing Mauler Crowe as a Marshal right now with Seelah, Kyra and Adowyn, and I don't think I could imagine playing without it. Right now, we are on AD4 and there are quite a few monsters that get into the upper 20s/30s because of locations and scenarios. We have the benefit that our Seelah decided to go with Guardian so we don't have two Marshals, but the strength and charisma bonus from the Marshal path is pretty solid. I am playing Seelah right now and I am in a party with my wife who is playing her as well. We just finished AD2 for both parties and took different mythic paths when we could. I took Marshal and she took Guardian. I have found that I having the bonus to combat helps me feel pretty comfortable when I am at a location ridden with monsters. I wanted the bonus to my charisma for any BYA checks which is why I chose Marshal. I have found that I typically do not spend my charges for anything but a villain because of the bonuses to my combat. Every once in a while, I may need it for a barrier.

Personally, I think agree with Theryon. Play the character that you're wanting to play. Work as a team and collaborate with each other. I've seen people play characters they aren't interested in and it isn't that much fun for them or the rest of the party. Hope this helps and have fun!

Haha, I have looked at it and my wife and I will most likely make our trek through it as well. Thanks for your contributions! You are able to do something that is beyond me.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Here are the numbers that I came up with that are a very generous estimate if each scenario took 1 hour to complete with no replays through all 35(sorry, not including the promo scenario) for Skull and Shackles:

We had two people in the first playthough and three in the second playthrough. That's a total of 5 people playing 35 hours which yields a grand total of 175 hours of gameplay. If you pay full price for the base set, character add-on and all adventure decks(roughly $200 in total), then it comes out to be about $1.14/hr of gameplay.

If you were to throw in the hours for Organized Play, you're well below $1/hr of awesome fun!

My wife and I just talked about this the other day as we were discussing where we spend money. That's much cheaper than than the $5-$8/hr to go to the movie theater without popcorn or a drink.

In conclusion, well worth the money and replay value with so many different characters, boons and play styles. Hope that helps convey the value that I see.

To anyone out in the Pittsburgh area:

We just finished playing through Season of the Shackles and earning our Councilor's rings and are going to continue with Season of the Righteous in the near future. If you would like to join in, have any questions, or have never played the game and would like to learn about it, please feel free to send me a message. Currently, we have two tables of 4 and have additional room for another table if the need arises. Cheers!

I have played through the base AP twice as two different characters and found myself utilizing completely different cards which made it feel like a very different game to me. There were cards that I hadn't even seen the first go around. I play with two tables who are hopefully going to be finishing the SotS tonight and can say that those scenarios offer a totally different feel as well. Overall, I wouldn't be surprised if I play through it again.

Great game and definitely worth replaying several times. Well worth the money!

Very cool. Thank you for letting us peak into the minds of the design for the games. My wife and I have been discussing the difficulty and how if you were to translate that into a "real life" situation and you were to encounter demons our first response would be "Oh crap, how the heck are we going to deal with this?"

Thanks for all of your work!

My wife and I got our friend hooked on the game and we just finished the last scenario! We're going to be starting WotR here shortly! Thank you for such a great time!

I have two different games going on right now.

1) S&S OP
2) Home game

Essentially, we either take a picture with our phone or iPad before dismantling our home game character decks and going to OP. Is it inconvenient? A little. It basically just requires 10-15 minutes of extra set up ahead of time. Not too big of a deal in my opinion. Pictures definitely help though.

My wife went with the Sea Witch, however, she now has 5 blessings of Hshurha. We just finished AP5 and she was able to pick up the 5th BoHshurha. Also, due to the number of aquatic banes in S&S, even if you don't have those blessings you will be able to recharge it instead. Also, being able to use 2d4 for fortitude or survival checks is also handy.

Either way you go, I think you'll be happy with it. She has been a fun character to see played and has been invaluable to our party. Have fun deciding!

I feel like "Choose wisely" is appropriate right now.

I should have qualified my sentence more, but with all of the excitement, I did not. It has moved from pre-order to available now in the store.

Get on your feet! So excited for this.

That's great!

Firstly, Congratulations!

Secondly, like I said before, I'm just starting OP at my LGS and we began our adventure with 0-0A: On the Horizon and progress into 0-1A: Ghosts of the Deep. We plan to continue alphabetically and followed by numerically.

We had our first night on Wednesday and we were able to go through both with a party of four. Unfortunately, we were one person shy from being a hit t.v. show from the late 90s.

We all loved the extra deck upgrade from 0-0A.

While I am thinking of it- is the Adventure Decks (such as Wormwood Mutiny, Raiders of the Fever Sea, etc.) also compatible with the PACGS Organized Play?

Unfortunately, no. The adventure decks provide you with the cards that you will need throughout OP though. I am also just starting OP at my LGS and we began with On the Horizon. It was a good place to start in order to get the extra deck upgrade that made everyone happy!

I am beginning OP in the Pittsburgh area at my FLGS and have 3(including myself) guaranteed players with room for more. Currently, we are meeting every other Wednesday evening, with an opportunity to play more frequently if desired, and have room for another table if needed. PM me if you have questions or would like to join in. I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers!
