As they continued on Kleora had noticed how several hawks had flown over them during their trek and she realized, eventually, that they were all the same one! She looked at her companions and said softly, "There is a hawk that has been flying over us repeatedly. I thought it was a different one each time at first but now it is obviously the same one."
Kleora traveled with the group and kept her eyes open as they went and saw when the kid moved off to find firewood followed by Freyr. Things seemed peaceful enough, at least until Frjya spoke of wolves. Kleora was not particularly interested in animals but her Mistress did have a thing for predators and wolves would certainly qualify. Kleora focused her mind on finding the animals around her and released her power as a magical effect. A pale green image of a third eye appeared on her forehead and opened as she looked in the direction that Freyr had gone. She focused for several seconds before turning to face the way they had been walking and did this to complete a circle around herself.
Yeah, I completely missed that part it seems.
Wait it is? I thought it was still night time after the attack and that people were off looking for someone dumb enough to leave the camp?
No problem, I've been waiting on people to actually come and try and make Kleora actually get up and help. I'm just snoozing away.

Kleora finally woke up about the time the fighting came to a conclusion. As things seemed under control she simply rolled over to tryy and go back to sleep. She did hear Kvell curse about Fey being a nuisance and felt a wave of annoyance wash through her at his seemingly blanket statement. Ultimately Kleora decided her need for sleep was more important sos he decided to ignore the statement...for now, but would remember it for future use.
Yep, still here. Kleora is just completely unaware of what is happening.
I think we all have become used to the vagaries of reality this last year and a half or so. I am very patient and more than happy to give you time if you think things will clear up. Take what you need and if it just looks like it won't work out let us know and we can reconsider.
Kleora, meanwhile, was soundly snoozing away with dreams of dangerous jungle delights giving her a tantalizing view of her Mistress' domain.
This coming Wednesday through Sunday my posting will be extremely slow to non-existent as I will be at Gencon in Indy and then two weeks after that for the same days it will be slow again for Origins in Ohio. I may be able to sneak some posts in but I wouldn't count on it.
Kleora had no problem with traveling with these people, there was safety in numbers after all, and maybe she could get some of them to join in her morning worship. She had already stocked up on what she needed so the next morning she was ready when they left. The first day was not that bad, slow going certainly, but manageable. She did see the swarm of ravens overhead and Kelora did not like what that portended. As there was nothing she could do about them she decided it was best to ignore them for now and keep a wary eye out for trouble.
Kleora listened to what was being said by the twins, about Baba Yaga and the riders and their bloodline. That the Crone should have returned, or be returning, and at least one of the riders having been so badly beaten was a cause for great concern. She considered carefully all that she had been told and learned so far on this journey before she responded. "It is no wonder that the Green Mother has become involved. Winter covering the world would be bad enough but something that can threaten the gods is a threat to the First World as well," Kleora said. Kleora's expression tightened into one of concern and she took a deep breath making her bosom rise and fall with a bounce before she continued, "I was sent to that town by the Green Mother herself, now I understand why. Intrigue is part of her purview and I have some skill in it's application. Hopefully I can help ferret information out when we arrive."
Kleora went about picking up the few things she needed for their hourney. Mostly she just needed ammunition as she had finalyl used up all of her bolts. She decided to err on the side of caution and picked up more bolts than she had previously then added a few days trail rations as well just in case.
When Kleora woke the next morning she convinced Jiselda to join her for her morning devotion to the Green Mother. It was delightful having a partner for the right and she whispered a secret to Jiselda at the moment of their mutual release. A short while later Kleora was back with her companions as they discussed what to do next. "We certainly need to stock up on equipment. I know I need more bolts. What about the rest of you.?"
Kleora was only slightly annoyed that Kvell had wondered off on her but she quickly managed to push that annoyance aside. One of the men at the table, an extremely hairy guy with a vicious scar on his cheek and severe body odor named Bjorn, had started getting a bit too pushy about her keeping him company that night bellowed, "An if'n not me then who gonna keep ya warm t'night wench! Yer guardsman 'oo left ya all 'lone 'ere!?" Kleora rose and glared at the man and had half a mind to fry his sorry excuse for a brain right here and now. Fortunately she saw the perfect excuse as a very pretty bar maid walked past who she'd flirted with a few times when she went past. As the barmaid Jiselda, a buxom blonde woman, walked by Kleora snagged her around the waist, pulled her close, and pressed a fierce, lingering, kiss on the woman's lips to a number of cheers and whistles. Kleora broke the kiss off and glared at Bjorn as she said, "Jiselda and I will keep each other warm and you aren't invited."
Kleora heard Kvell call for her to join him as he told the tale of the fight with Rhadosek and the "Ice Dragon" and for an ale for her. This could be interesting , she thought. She walked over towards him, her movements graceful, and she sat in the seat that had been vacated. She crossed one knee other the over and nodded to the server who brought the ale to her. Kleora took a drink of it and then set it on the table as she said, "Not bad, my thanks Kvell." She sat then and let the man tell his tale of a fight that she was of little use in. That didn't bother her, she had already been nearly tapper out when it started.
With the speeches done with Kleora felt relief. There would be partying, she was sure, but she was not really interested in it. She mostly wanted to sleep right then, though she should rest and restock on crossbow bolts as well before they left again. She knew they were likely to be partying into the night but she was equally certain it wasn't the kind of partying that she enjoyed. Kleora considered what to do and decided she would go to the party at least long enough to eat. Maybe she would luck out and find an attractive person to spend her night with and share in her morning devotions. Her decision made Kleora headed into the tavern following the crowd.
While Frjya worked on gathering everyone in the squuare Kleora stood off to one side. This really didn't concern her any and she wasn't to worried about how it would work out. She really wanted to go to sleep but that didn't seem to be happening anytime soon.
Kleora was a bit annoyed that her nap was going to be interrupted to go back to town but she wasn't going to stay in the tower alone. That was just asking for something bad to happen. She got out of the bed and began getting dressed again and then bundled up in her winter gear. "If we're going to do this let's get it over with. I have no intention to be staying here alone." Kleora remembered about the goat they had left alive and added, "Maybe we should take that goat into the village, if it isn't a threat. Kind of a shame to just leave it here to starve."
Kleora looked around the Mistress Bedroom, it couldn't be a Master Bedroom afterall, and saw the statue of the witch in the room. She didn't like the status and looked for a large sheet or drape she could throw over it. Once it was covered she said, "I will be up here sleeping while you work on the figuring out the portal. Feel free to join me later if you wish." With that Kleor astarted getting caught up on her sleep so she woudl be able to help when they were ready to proceed once again.
Kleora sat up when she realized Kvell had woken up and sat up. "There, now isn't that better." She rocked her hips a moment before she stood and said, "You should get up now. We have places to go and portals to close." Kleora looked at the group and said, "What do you think, should we rest here before we press on?" She gestured to those who were injured and said, "We aren't in the best of shape right now and pressing on might be dangerous."
Kleora's lips quirked in amusement as she saw Kvell pass out. She too had expected him to be made of sterner stuff. "If this bothers him so he better hope he never goes to meet The Green Mother. My Mistress' bower would quite literally eat him alive." Kleora rolled her eyes and said, "Let me see if I can get him up." She walked over to Kvel and worked on rolling him over then straddled his stomach as she knelt down on top of him. She leaned forward, tilted his head slightly, and leaned forward to plant her lip on his and started to kiss him quite firmly to wake him up.
*adopts a Jim Varney voice*

With no one else checking Radosek's body after she finished him Kleora knelt and did so finding the items on him and looking them over thoughtfully as they continued their exploration. It seemed that most of the threats had been cleared out since they didn't come across anything else and Kleora felt a bit of relief over that as she didn't think they could handle much more. When they found the vault Kleora was very curious as to what would be inside of it. She suspected it would be of significant help if they could get inside and she tried to figure out how to do it. She hit on an idea quickly that might help with the vault and the portal and said, "What would be of help, I think, is to use the antithesis of the cold against that door and the portal, heat. Something with sufficient heat might serve to disrupt the magic involved. Ideally if we could summon a fire elemental of some kind that would likely be the most effective means we could use."
Kleora was relieved that they had succeeded and was taking no chances with Radosek. She walked to where his body was bleeding out and knelt next to him and whispered softly in his ear as she used her sickle to slit his throat and make sure he was dead.
Radosek:
"Enjoy my Goddess' Bower, you will make interesting fertilizer for her garden."
Kleora rose and said, "It is done." She let the others rifle the body and instead said, "We should get that portal closed."
Kleora was at a complete loss as to what she could do to help at this point. She was out of bolts, she was out of magic that could to anything, and she didn't like it. She decided to move in closer and carefully skirted around the ice sculpture to get closer to Radosek and drew her sickle from her waist as she went.
Kleora only had one shot left and she knew it. She reloaded her crossbow with her very last bolt and then took aim at the now floating witch. She lined up her shot and pulled the trigger hoping that she could hit the bastard.
Unfortunately the cold and the sight of the ice dragon made her aim go wild and come nowhere near her target.
I'm so sorry to hear that. My sympathies and thoughts are with you and yours.
Kleora considered for a moment how what to do with the goat. They were going to kill its master now so there was no point in holding it hostage, especially since he seemed to care so little for its survival. Truthfully it made her feel a bit sorry for the creature. She had her crossbow in hand and thought about firing a bolt to just kill the creature while it was eating. She was ready to do it but then decided against the action. No point in wasting a bolt on it and she thought that she would need what few she had left. The psychic stepped onto the teleporter and found herself back on the first floor with Radoseck yelling and screaming at them. Kleora did not like her current position but she could do little about it. Instead she took aim at Radoesck and pulled the trigger of her weapon before reloading for another shot.
Kleora heard Kell's frustration adn said, "We should probably fill him in on what the Rider told us. Radosek is, ultimately, a very small part of the problem and hardly worth chasing if he wants to flee..." She looked to Frjya and Freyr as she hesitated and asked, "Didn't we agree to kill Radoseck for the people that helped us? If so I suppose we should go find him and kill him while he is worn down."
Kleora decided that keeping the goat friendly would be better and so she left the rations on the floor and moved away as she said, "Alright Valstoi, I'll leave these here for you. We won't kill you if you behave yourself and come with us when we leave." She began to look around the area, no longer too worried by the goat, and eventually her eyes focused on the representation of the way the ley lines were being used to make the portals and spread winter across the globe. Kleora looked around for something to write with or on or any books that might have information on what they were seeing. Barring that she simply tried to take the globe that had all of the information already on it. When she noticed the goat approach the ration and eat it Kleora took out another and tore off a part of it which she tossed to land near the goat. Maybe feeding it would let her get his goat.
Kleora considered what Frjya said and then nodded. She pulled out a ration from her pack and approached the goat while holding out the food to the goat.
Kleora was rather surprised that the witch would leave his familiar like that. Sure he could replace the creature at significant loss to himself but still...She had a rather vicious idea then and looked at the goat. She made a gesture to her companions to wait and looked at the goat thoughtfully. "Much as I would like to have goat for my next meal I think that would be doing you a disservice and let your master off far too easily." Kleora's eyes glittered with a certain maliciousness as she spoke to the goat, "I don't know if you can understand me but I propose a compromise to your immediate death and date with the cook pot." She tried to figure out if the goat could understand what she said or not but gave up after a moment and then continued, "You master abandoned you and by killing you he can just summon a replacement. I'm sure his treatment of you, leaving you to die in his place as he can replace you, makes you angry at him yes?" She smiled then, conniving grin, and said, "I propose that you join us, we let you live and keep you from your Master. By doing so he cannot summon a replacement for you and will suffer for leaving you behind. You get your revenge on the faithless man and we get a companion and guide to this place who knows all the secrets." Kleora raised one eyebrow questioningly, "If you can't speak but understand and agree to what I suggest stamp twice for yes."
Kleora pulled out her crossbow and loaded up a bolt as she said, "Who wants roasted goat for dinner?"
Kleora felt the wash of positive energy as she awoke from her near death state. She hurt, she really hurt, and she didn't think the fight was over just yet. She pulled out one of her potions, not rising from the ground, and quickly downed it.

Oh s%$!, 6es, I think you are. I have a trio of bolts still for my crossbow. Maybe you can use the goat as a hostage?
Yeah, at the moment I'm more concerned with seeing if we can even survive this before worrying about recruitment. I mean we've got Radoseck down over half, the same with his goat, but whether those still up can take him down or not is the reall question. At the very least we can get his goat which will royally f!!$ him over in the future but does little for us right now. I wonder if I should start plotting a replacement PC in case things get worse.
I can certainly agree with that.
Kleora wasn't fast enough to dodge the flurry of snowballs that began to slam into her body. They pummeled her relentlessly until one slammed into her temple ad she lost all thought of where she was as averything went dark and she crumpled to the floor.
Kleora shifted slightly closer to the floating with and thrust out with her mind slamming pain and agony into his.
Kleora had one last blast of fire in her and she quickly used it sending a final beam of fire out at the flying bastard.
*Eyes bulge out* Good God Red Box, I'm glad it's not me. Up side is you are getting some immersive experience for the campaign?
Kleora considered trying to kill the goat but knew she was likely to miss if she tried to thread her attack in there to get it so instead she chose the helpless floating witch. As she drew another deep breath Kleora moved closer and then breathed a line of flame at the floating fool.
