Hi GM Elfreide, On seeing this recruitment, I was excited to put together a concept for a Daggermark assassin! Here's Kirzon, a Half-Orc Alchemist (Vivisectionist), who can play the classic rogue role of stealthy scout, sneak attacker, and trap disabler. Alchemist gives Kirzon a surprisingly strong connection with poisons (e.g., poison use, poison resistance, swift poisoner), which I thought made it a good fit with the general Daggermark flavor. As an assassin, Kirzon is lawful evil. But he's killing for profit and gain--definitely not an over-the-top evil creature delighting in the cruelty of killing itself. He'll very much be a team player in a survival setting, and the party might not know he's evil for quite a while. There's also a path for Kirzon to find some redemption. No guarantee, but a relationship of trust with a good person might begin to turn him around. Thanks for your consideration!

You can have a +1 enchantment bonus to my charisma linked to your bonded object. Calistria favors you today. @Amigail--Yes, that works! I thought Slashing Grace also solves that problem, which is a feat you took, but yeah, the point is you can get dex to hit on your Falcata.

We'll see what exactly happens to Kirzon and Boros, but they probably won't be active participants once I go down this route. Agree this is meant to be a hard campaign. I've been considering whether a slight boost in player power would be appropriate. That's more fun than pulling punches. Will think on it as I explore the material. It'll take some time for me to ramp up, so please be patient.

It doesn't seem like we have enough Invisibility spells to set up a full-party ambush. We would need 7 of those for the party, unless someone has Circle of Invisibility available. Right now, it seems like we have 2 in effect--one on Cass and one on Merelda. Where do the other 5 come from? If fighting is the path forward, from Kirzon's perspective, he's the closest thing to having fireball, as follows:
Meantime, Lili's Hideous Laughter should have full effect against ogres, which are humanoids. So she can pop her Summon Monster on Round 0 and start Hideous Laughtering the ogres. Both of these examples assumes a Round 0 is possible, which requires enough invisibility spells for the party as noted above. The alternative is that some of the party is invisible and the rest of the party stays back and catches up when combat begins.

Hi everyone. Work is still a mess and got worse when someone gave notice such that I'm taking over a big chunk of the work. Right now, I need to take a break from PbP until I can recover, and I don't know exactly how long that'll be (maybe a month, maybe less, maybe more)? I've done PbP reliably for years now and intend to return, but I also don't want a character botted indefinitely which is a burden on any game. So I'm fine with whatever is decided about my character--whether to continue botting him, setting him aside momentarily, or even doing something more permanent and/or finding another player. Really sorry, and I'll check in again when I can.

@Amigail--have you considered a level of Swashbuckler or Daring Champion Cavalier? I think that would give you +Dex to hit on the falcata, which would help even as a single level dip. I kind of like the Daring Champion Cavalier, because Amigail just dedicated herself to the cause of Calistria. *Edit* - Perhaps more accurately, Amigail dedicated herself to Innis!

Staying as spoiler-free as possible, the 5th level of Emerald Spire allows a party, with the right choices, to bypass the most serious combats on their way to the exit to the next level. More Details:
If the summoner in E1 loses his eidolon, his tactics say he flees to join his sisters. This happened in the game...hold that thought until later. The mudlord in E6 can be avoided, and in this case the party did so after figuring out what was in there by scouting from E4. If the summoner in E8 is overpowered, she flees to join her siblings. This also happened in the game. By dint of some excellent Swim checks and Reflex saves, the party avoided being pulled into E10 and fighting the giant moray eel.
So as the party was wrapping up the level, E12 contained all three summoners and their eidolons, plus the variant emerald automaton. But there's a side passage before E12 that leads to the access to the next level down, which they took--neatly avoiding what could have been a very messy fight. I don't see any guidance on the chronicle sheet or in the scenario itself for reducing the amount of treasure based on the encounters missed. I assume that the items that would be found in those encounters get crossed off the chronicle sheet, but I don't know how much (if any) to reduce the gold awarded. Is that information available, and if so where?

I wasn't able to find answers to these related questions in the FAQs or previous posts: 1) a character has readied an action to sunder or disarm (doesn't matter which for this argument, I think) when an enemy approaches them. The enemy moves to attack and the sunder/disarm attempt succeeds. If the enemy has at least +1 BAB but lacks the Quick Draw feat, can they draw a backup weapon as part of the move action they used to close and attack that round, even though the move action is done? 2) What if the character is using a reach weapon? Can the enemy draw a backup weapon as part of their as-yet incomplete move action, and attack that round? 3) Does the answer to 2) change if the character is making the sunder/disarm attempt as an AoO with a reach weapon? Thanks much!

Apparently, when Lucasfilms sold the Star Wars rights to Disney, the sale included the rights to all of the books, including Alan Dean Foster's novelization of Star Wars: ANH and _Splinter of the Mind's Eye_, the first SW tie-in novel. When Disney bought 20th Century Fox, the sale included the rights to ADF's novelizations of Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3. This is probably going to get ugly. I have to say I am not impressed by Disney's argument here--Foster's contract apparently includes assignees, and AIUI that's Disney's status wrt the contracts between Foster and Lucasfilms/20th Century Fox. Anyone with a real legal background want to weigh in?
