Hehe, don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to ditch you, I know _I_ am willing to wait, especially because Kesin will have a hard time finding another home being built specifically for this.

But if the game will be inactive a couple months, other people may have moved on, or you may decide to rather slide back into a few games if you find yourself with slightly more time, instead of overextending yourself trying to pick up a GM mantle again as soon as things ease up a bit.

So I felt compelled to note the option...unlikely as it may be-

Sorry to hear that. Was looking forward to seeing where Kesin goes, so here's hoping you eventually manage to pick this up again. I'll be around if so, so gimme a whistle(plus I don't think I could easily find another home for a Kitsune Child Oracle built to be a City Avatar.) ;)

//(Unless, of course, one of the players wants to pick it up meanwhile continuing with a GM PC...Unfortunately my current workload prohibits me from doing so... - and assuming you would not be opposed to that idea, Hotaru.)

On another note, I find it amusing how often it takes me events like this posted in multiple threads to find out I'm with the same person in different games ;)

I think the new job is...punishing. 69 hours of work in a week-punishing.

I sure hope things become better(=more relaxed) for Hotaru, but since I recently started GM'ing my own game, I know it's a whole different beast running a game, compared to playing in one...

So yeah, just saying I'm all fine with a slower pace, too :)

Sense Motive Assist: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
"You do know he'll just get more Dreamweaver, right?", Kesin whispers to Lia:"Bring him food and drink instead, not coin-"
That's what she believes regardless of a Sense Motive. Even if the guy is utterly legit, Kesin is certain he's a down-in-the-dumps druggie who will put every coin he gets his hands on towards his next fix...

HP: 8/8 | AC: 16 / T: 14 / FF: 13 | Fort: +0, Ref: +5, Will: +1(6 vs Charm/Compulsion) | CMB: -1, CMD: 12 (Small) | Init: +3, Perception: +3 Low-light Vision

"Yeah...but...how?", Kesin asks with the same quizzical look on her face, "I've seen addicts, but so far, it was always smarter to avoid them...", she adds with innocent/brutal honesty.

"Hi Lia!", Kesin greets the new arrival, trying to hide her relief at seeing Lia decided to really come, and made it here.
When Lia approaches the man, Kesin makes one quick step closer before stopping herself and quickly repeats, more clearly:"Be careful, Lia...people in withdrawal can be...suddenly dangerous-", not paying attention to Rexus reaction.

Turning to the others again, with a questioning look on her face, she asks: "So...what's the plan?"

HP: 8/8 | AC: 16 / T: 14 / FF: 13 | Fort: +0, Ref: +5, Will: +1(6 vs Charm/Compulsion) | CMB: -1, CMD: 12 (Small) | Init: +3, Perception: +3 Low-light Vision

Lucky Bones:
"Hej, glad to see al...where's Lia?", Kesin enters whats left of the building, then stops in her tracks as she sees the blinded junkie.
Kesin had seen plenty of drug abuse on the streets. Not something she ever wanted for herself...trying to escape reality that way just meant lying to oneself, while making things worse in the real life, AND leaving you unable to fix those things for prolonged periods of time.
Suffice to say, it usually did not end well. Looking at the man trying to follow sound, Kesin speaks up: "He's suffering from withdrawal. Means he'll try and get his fix elsewhere. Not much you can do unless you mean to imprison him and force him to wait it out.", carefully moving to avoid the man as she speaks, then, after a moment, adds:"Also, don't get too close...he may seem calm, but-...", letting her voice trail off, leaving the implication open.

Aria Park:
When Tracy opts to grab his mace, Kesin visible flinches, but then calms down as the other man speaks up. When he is finished, Kesin bows deeply(unconveniently aware of her vulnerability when doing so), then answers:"It was not your group I ran into, rather ones who did not seem to survive", she points at the corpse pile, "but it were members of the militia all the same that gave me my newfound purpose and freedom to pursue it. I will do as you recommend, and visit the Temple..or Golden Veils, tomorrow, and see if there is anything I can do to help! Thank you again for shedding light on my path where before I stumbled in darkness!", with another quick bow, Kesin scurries away like the street rat she is, heading towards the Lucky Bones after making sure she's not followed.(technically, by parcouring through some areas that would likely lose any pursuers)(all the spoken stuff is technically correct...the best kind of correct...)

Standing in an dark side street near the Lucky Bones, Kesin hesitates for but a moment, then returns to human form, before entering.(I'll assume I'll arrive at the next GM update)

Aria Park revisited:
Oh my. I misread the part, regarding "seeing some of the arrested civilians". I thought they were gathered up somewhere...alive and arrested. Not on the corpse pile.
Kesin, shocked at what she sees, considers for a moment to try eavesdropping on the Redhead, but then thinks better of it. If she recognized her, it would be hard to flee with all the militia and dottari around.
Instead, she ducks into a house entrance, swaps her cloak around, and emerges an anthropomorphic fox. Walking up to some nearby militia, she'll bow her head, not looking them in the eyes:"Excuse me, praised be Lord Asmodeus. Your group freed me from the scum that forced me to beg for him! I think you are heroes, for bringing justice and order! I know I'm young but could I join the militia, too? I want to do what's right for Kintargo! I may not be much use in the frontlines, but I could clean your boots, or run messages, or keep your cups filled when you celebrate after a days hard work!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

I figured he wants to get on the list in case someone drops...
(profile lines still has him as a Dervish Bard with VMC Monk, or, further down, Street Performer, which is not compatible with Dervish Dancer, so not sure if the character was specifically made for this-)

Return to park - Clarification request:

Before I can decide what to do, I need clarification on that part:
Quote:
... you recognize a few of the arrested citizens as well, and perhaps as a twisted knife, you notice the bald man who had been silent, and the blonde man who had listened to reason. The red-head is there as well, but unlike the others she's still alive and still dressed in the clothing she'd been in in the alley. She's busy talking with another member of the Militia and hasn't spotted you yet...

Does that mean the two others have been arrested and are no longer wearing the same clothing as when we met in the alley? It sounds like it but it was the red-head who ultimately suggested they leave and she's fine and with the militia...So I would probably attempt to find out what happened, but I want to make sure I got the situation right.

I can, of course, only speak for myself: But I am perfectly fine doing some RP with the others again when we arrive at the Livery if you don't have time to push things forward.

e.g. asking Rakhel why she can't go home.(an alien concept to Kesin...actually HAVING a home is great, and she can't think of a proper reason to avoid going there).

"You guys go on ahead, I'll go and check something- not like I would want to wait in some OTHER place before going in there.", Kesin also excuses herself.

Plan is to return as near as possible to the Opera House/Aria Park and see the "Aftermath"...did wounded people get first aid? Are the Dottari Swarming the area? Are Thugs reporting in with them?...generally just a "what's the situation"-checkup. Staying somewhat stealthy, taking 10 and avoiding patrols, content with an overview.(which I will gladly report to the others an hour later, when arriving at the meeting place)

Kesin remains silent when Rexus asks if anybody else wanted to check on their family, simply not feeling addressed. She was past that. Most of the time, at least.
Instead, she resumes reading the remainder of the letter, slowly but accurate, before handing it back to Rexus.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
HP: 8/8 | AC: 16 / T: 14 / FF: 13 | Fort: +0, Ref: +5, Will: +1(6 vs Charm/Compulsion) | CMB: -1, CMD: 12 (Small) | Init: +3, Perception: +3 Low-light Vision

Kesin, feeling a form of ..- connection..., with these people, sticks with them, tagging along to some dusty old bookshop.
Well, not like I had any plans...and I DO want to know why he was attacked...
Seeing a multitude of books in the shop, for a short moment, Kesin's facial features seem to waver, but steady themselves almost instantly.
The last time I really cared about books was when mum was reading to me...everything was still good then...
Thinking back to happier times makes Kesin sad, and she takes a moment to steady herself...only to realize the group had moved on into some backroom, with Rexus holding a door open.
With a sudden desire to even just touch a book, she extends a hand to the books in the shelf next to her, then walks towards Rexus while gently letting her hand glide along all the books backs.
Seeing the concern in his face, she almost wants to stick our her tongue in spite, then turn around and leave...But that's not what should happen...there is something about the people, they feel...right.

Entering the back room, Kesin casually leans against a wall, where she can observe all the others. When the letter is handed to her, she'll walk to the table, then start tracing the words with her finger as she soundlessly forms them with her mouth, taking a few minutes to finish reading.
Before she is finished, Rexus is, and asks if anybody was to come with him, just as Kesin is reading the part about the Silver Ravens:"I'll come! I want to see a real Silver Raven hideout for myself! Heck, you couldn't stop me from coming if you tried...", she grins.

"Oh....Ohh...I am sorry to hear that...I heared about this Huntress play. Not much, but so you were to be in it...", thinking back to the protest, she continues:"Ah...you were reciting lines, back at Aria park, were you not? A sneak preview for the masses there!", Kesin grins widely, "You just wait, Kintargo will not stand for what Thrune is doing! We'll kick him out and you get to play in the opera house again, your big role." More silently, whispering, she adds: "Think you could manage to sneak me in so I can see the opera too?

Some dried dirt turns into dust and flies off into the air when you pat her head: "Hi Lia...about the Opera...nah. I like singing and dancing, but isn't the opera something for rich or old people?"...some moments to think later, she quickly adds:"No offense meant if you like the opera, of course, I'm sure it's great to see if you have means to do so-"

@Rakhel: Not ignoring needing to make an exit...I agree, but I figure until we learn more about the mans state and who he is, we can't really progress, so...
@Lia: Oh, how she'll blush if she learns you're actually a famous actrice :)

Kesin listens intently to Jacks words, then her eyes light up with expectation, one blue, one green:"You think maybe he could be with the rebels and thats why he was targetted?"

Looking up at Lia, Kesin lifts her shoulders in an extended shrug:"Those who do call me by a name, call me Kesin. Mostly it's insults and generic slang thrown my way, though...Miss....?", she attempts to recall if she caught your name, but if so, clearly it doesn't come to her right now.

"I am young. But I am not powerless."
Stepping back from the man, she smiles at Adonara:"The city provides, too. All one needs.", then looking back at Lia, to see if she approves of what she did.
Why do I even care about that? These are strangers-but it feels right...Kintargo approves...

Kesin does not like them because she does not like their boss. Simple as that.
She's not used to being openly confrontational though, so will take a hint to shut up. She does stick around with Lia at the time, unwilling to leave her in a potentially dangerous situation after she came to help Kesin.
Either way, I withdraw my questioning, but will not support diplomacy either, feeling enmity towards those guys.

"One, two,..three, four......HEY! No fair! We are five! Or four and a half! That was mean.", Kesin counts, then addresses Adonara...before pouting and turning away.
Fine, they want to handle it, let them handle it, did not want to get involved anyway. Smarter not to get involved. As long as they don't try and hurt my new friend!
Kesin will stand back behind Lia, letting "grown-ups" do the talking, but maintaining her ready-action...if things go bad and blows happen, the first one striking at Lia gets screamed at.

Oh my...there's trouble...
Unwilling to simply move away on her own, Kesin follows the others, seeking cover behind Lia, not wanting to draw attention to herself.
Move action to get there, Ready action to cast "ear-piercing scream" (DC 15) if someone attempts to strike Lia: "Stay AWAY from here"

Kesin, having follow Lia until they came across the alley(for lack of a better plan, no real home to head towards, and to share what fantastic stories she knows of Jackdaw and the Silver Ravens(of old)), also hears the sounds and sees the light. "Not good. I got my cloak in such an ally, from some tourist stupid enough to wander down the wrong one. Couldn't do anything for the poor guy except offer some prayers to Pharasma-..."
Reluctantly, she follows Lia as she moves TOWARD the alley's entrance, instead of "quickly away to not get involved".

I am kind of hoping it's a woman, but I also hope it's the original. Like, a gnomish bard lady or something of the sort(must be a long-lived race, after all)
Because, you know, those stories of the muscled half-giant choking a dragon to death with his bare hands mean a lot to Kesin...

As such, it would be very amusing to have her meet the REAL jackdaw ^_^
"I am Jackdaw"-"No you're not! No, no, no, no, no! Never!" - "No, really, it's me, in the civil war blablabl" - "(Tears in eyes)It can't be! You're not him! I won't accept this!" *runs off crying*

It's not exceptionally clear in my mind when the Rebellion (at least for Kintargo) was ended, but it started 109 years ago. It's been a little less than 50 years since it ended, so I'm going with 'somewhere around 50 years ago' for my answer. Thrune's redactors have made it so that only oral traditions really remain. So, anything you do know about them should totally be along the lines of John Henry, Daniel Boone, etc. I don't have good European analogues, I'm afraid.

Anybody know?

Either way, Kesin is supposed to be a bit of a fangirl of those past Silver Ravens(even though I did not pick starstruck), believing Jackdaw(a half-real Golarian Batman) will return and save us all.
Will make for an interesting RP bit if we do meet him(she firmly believes it's a guy).

@GM: Can and did move my piece(and replaced it with proper character image). Was holding on last movement to see which direction Lia is going.

"You never heard of him? Why, he was the hero of Kintargo! Fought with the Silver Ravens for our Independence...they disbanded after the Civil War- but he lives on, he's just waiting for his time, to surprise Thrune and then Jackdaw and his allies will finish what they started and purge these hellish occupators from our beautiful city!"
Kesin has plenty of "larger-than-life" tales about Jackdaw and the former Silver Ravens to tell...clearly, she somewhat idolizes the group(and their leader), but she does have a very romanticized and hear-say-unrealistic view of what happened (I don't know when exactly we are set, timewise, and can't look it up right now...but I think it's save to assume she was too young to know facts or have first-hand-knowledge.)

Nodding quickly, and with a thankful expression, at the woman across that helped her, Kesin quickly follows, opting to touch Lia's shoulder where she was stabbed:"Wait up - that moron, he hurt you! Because you came to help me...so this...it's the least I can do! Are you...with the Rebels?"

HP: 8/8 | AC: 16 / T: 14 / FF: 13 | Fort: +0, Ref: +5, Will: +1(6 vs Charm/Compulsion) | CMB: -1, CMD: 12 (Small) | Init: +3, Perception: +3 Low-light Vision

Cast defensively DC 17: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 1 + 4 = 23
"Leave her alone!", Kesin screams at the Thug as his attack connects with Lia's shoulder, and the "alone" begins to loop in his head into a crescendo with painful volume. Kesin nervously re-aligns her body weight from one leg to the other as she looks for an opening, dagger ready, but well aware of her shortcomings when it came to physical combat.
Sonic Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1 + dazed
Fortitude Save DC 15 negates Daze and halves damage.

Standard action to cast Ear-Piercing Scream(I told you I replaced Innocence, just did not update yet...I'll do so ASAP)

I'll follow your lead. You tried to protect her. Kesin is now imprinted on you, surrogate mum!
Just kidding, but honestly, I won't be doing much damage with weapons currently, so it's not my decision to make, I'd simply do what you do. In unfamiliar situations like this one, she may opt to imitate what others are doing that seem to have an idea about whats going on and how the odds stand.

HP: 8/8 | AC: 16 / T: 14 / FF: 13 | Fort: +0, Ref: +5, Will: +1(6 vs Charm/Compulsion) | CMB: -1, CMD: 12 (Small) | Init: +3, Perception: +3 Low-light Vision

Seeing the beautiful actress/singer from before come to her aid, Kesin feels she should not simply flee, as was her original intent. When the Thug attempts to slice at the woman that came to help her, anger flares up in her.
Drawing her non-hidden Dagger herself, she shifts into a flanking position with Lia, then shouts:"FALL!" at the thug, attempting to will him into submission where physical force had failed, with the word weirdly echoing in the air for a few moments.
Casting Defensively DC 17: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 1 + 4 = 17 Command, DC 16 Will save or "Fall: On its turn, the subject falls to the ground and remains prone for 1 round. It may act normally while prone but takes any appropriate penalties."(I assume that includes "being trampled")
Actions: 5-foot step(ignoring crowds), move action draw weapon, standard cast defensively

I did a preliminary stat line, simply because it feels so incomplete without.

Also, I went with young Chandra(Planeswalker) as a character image.(3 pics linked at top of profile) Images of female red-headed short-haired Street Children in Fantasy settings are not so numerous it feels :)
But I assume the images are Level 3 or later, when a.: somebody forced Kesin to take a bath, b.: she gets dressed up in proper clothes, and c.: has access to an Arcane Pool to make her little fists flaming(though she'd prefer other weaponry).

The board picture is mostly because paizo has even less variety, and this was one variant that keeps age open, could be an anthropomorphic fox under the mask, and seems sneaky :)

HP: 8/8 | AC: 16 / T: 14 / FF: 13 | Fort: +0, Ref: +5, Will: +1(6 vs Charm/Compulsion) | CMB: -1, CMD: 12 (Small) | Init: +3, Perception: +3 Low-light Vision

At my home table, we kept it open, but each "call" only included the participants the caster choose. e.g. with 2 targets besides caster:
him + Lia + Rakhel,
him + Lia + Kesin,
him + Lia + Adonara
him + Rakhel + Kesin
him + Rakhel + Adonara
him + Kesin + Adonara
If, say it was a battle situation and only 3 castings were possible, Rakhel, Kesin and Adonara could not hear each other. Caster and Lia could hear all.

I like your solution better, though, of only getting to maintain one at a time.

Well, the failed trip with a natural 1 effectively guarantees you fail by a significant amount - meaning you tripped you... which is why I mentioned being gracious. :P

My bad, my mistake. Yep, I'm prone. In that case, I'm simply standing back up and trying to look as harmless as can be-...see, that kind of stuff happens if I need sleep- totally forgot about the failure penalty

Going to bed now, but just wanted to state that's not a double move :P it's a single move action after my failed trip, fleeing like a little girl(how long I've waited to get to use that line when it actually fits...)

Jack the Monk:
Might in inquire how you are even proficient in their use? I thought Shield Champion was overriding the proficiencies, meaning no "close" fighter weapon group?

Funny, the SRD does not even list them as a monk weapon under eastern weapons- only "disarm, see text" for me, but they are fun, yep.

Further, if they are busy getting ready for battle, does that mean we get surprise on them? As in, can they take attacks of opportunity? If not, this is my action: IF they CAN take AoO already, I'll not do that
Seeing one of the Asmodean Thugs right in front of her, with the masses pushing towards the main entrance, Kesin decides to try and make him fall prone, if he got trampled by the stampede of protestors afterwards, it would not be her fault. She attempts to kick away his leg...
Untrained Trip: 1d20 ⇒ 1 not even bothering looking up the modifiers :P
...only to find him wearing an armored boot unwilling to move. Feeling pain spread in her bare foot while hopping on the other, she silently curses, as he turns to look at her and their eyes lock for a moment.
If not a surprise round, but a regular one, and them unable to AoO because they have not acted yet:
Understanding it's not wise to try and go up against an armored agent, Kesin slips away through the crowd before he can act, towards the other performers.

Standard: Untrained Trip; Move(if applicable): Move away

I foresee Lily's first use of her Racial SLA being imminent. :)

Important thing I just had to find in regards to Racial SLAs are... here. In particular, the save DCs being based off Charisma. Didn't know that!

You didn't? I do ^_^ yay magical tails and cha-based caster...

@Miranda: Also, I don't mind at all, but feel free to simply edit your post and throw in a roll if you forgot it :)
