Kenton has already drawn Dignity's Barb in a trice , loading and loosing a bolt at Titus.
In nearly the same instant as the relic was drawn, Kenton has set the precious item onto the floor and drawn his rapier, stepping forward and holding it at the ready. Have at you, you knave-hearted debaucherous canker-blossom!
Kenton cocks his head very slightly at Xavien's words and invitation to Titus. I daresay,[/i] he says to the ne'er-do-well, [b]disparagement toward Cousin Martella does not become you.
Kenton shakes his head sadly. She was cleared posthumously. Which, of course, did her no good whatsoever.
Kenton, who fancies himself an artist (or at least an art critic), lingers a bit longer to look over the painting, but not more than a few seconds. No Trinia Sabor, that's certain, he says with a slight shake of his head.
We have the role of the cat in this performance, Kenton says with certainty. He doesn't disagree with either Lord Clement or Lady Basri, but he is confident of their place in the play. Once the vault room is secured and searched (cataloging can wait), he will guide the group through the entry hall to the western wing of the palace's first floor.

With a nod and a grin, Kenton moves toward the no-longer-secret door.

Kenton raises an eyebrow, as this is clearly not the greeting he was expecting. Nevertheless, he nods in response and moves toward the next set of double doors he can reach.

Something feels very much amiss, Kenton observes. Has the manor been abandoned? He stands at the doorway and takes a close look at the hallway before entering.
Convinced there is nothing to fear, he steps into the hall and heads to the doors to his left.

Breathing hard through his sore ribs, Kenton sheathes his gladius and picks up his rapier, then looks to Xavien and his wounds. How fare you, Lord Karthis?, though his eyes tell him well enough to hand over his potion of cure light wounds.
Kenton, through gritted teeth, nods and drops his rapier, whipping out his cavalry side blade in a blink and stepping into an advantageous position with Xavien , he uses the blade to try and protect Aurelia, hacking at the tree-shrub-thing.
Kenton keeps at it on Blue.

Kenton recoils from the blow but tries to give as well as he's been got. He maneuvers with another five-foot step and...

A wedge between Lotheed and Gusairne is just the thing to help turn the tides. Kenton sets his agents to find evidence of Gusairne spending the Count's coin without authorization. Subterfuge:

At the appearance of the newcomer, Kenton continues. We are not here to root out those who dwell here, I assure you. Our main aim is to help the people of the land. As such, we've been told we are pursuing the folly of the "enlightened noble" approach, a condemnation I found distasteful; but then the accuser had no more reason to trust us than you, so perhaps they deserve some measure of grace. They can see only our actions, after all, not our motives.
Kenton makes a mental note of the Sisters of Indulgent Dreams and bids Festo farewell.
Kenton ponders a bit, then secures one liquid ice, one bottled lighting, and a pair of alkali flasks.

Kenton listens intently. I see the value of mercy, he says with a nod, though I suspect the Count will not view it as such, and this may bring thigs to a head rather earlier than we might like. Likewise, this does not address the hunger of his family, which must be mitigated if we are to prevent a recurrence.
Kenton has remained silent as he tries to take measure of the Night Swan.

Kenton displays a small smile that grows as he ponders the idea. I like this plan, both to leave Bartelby to marinate in his own discontent — the more people we meet, the less likely he is to find new allies at our expense — and to visit other parts of the land. Let us try this maneuver.
Kenton nods, sheathing his blade. Truly. It has been but five weeks since the Escalations Gala, and here we are being charged to stage another coup at best, or conduct nobilicide at worst. Kenton is quiet a moment, then heaves a sigh. Still, it is for the survival of Taldor, no? We must needs prune this rotten overgrowth so that more verdant greens make take root? And where better to start than in those lands where we already know some oppressed live? After another moment, he chuckles lightly as Xavien sets the tax collection writ alight. Plus, better Bartleby than us, to be sure. We must all hang together...or he shall surely hang each of us separately.
The violence we've brought? Kenton says incredulously. I daresay we have multiple witnesses here who know the falseness if that statement, Master Eta. He gestures to the populace. He holds his hand out expectantly. Your writ, sir. It is forfeit. You have drawn steel against the nobles of this land.
Kenton effortlessly dodges Eta's stab, and his face sets in a hard frown. I see, he says, raising his own blade in kind and issuing a challenge to the wayward tax collector. So be it, then. He five-foot-steps between Eta and fleeing into the woods. Lady Clement, you are no longer asked to stay your hand.
Kenton pushes past the two blinded men — a thousand pardons, gentlemen — and closes the distance to Giado Eta. There was no need to come to blows, Master Eta, but by your command to your hired hands. The next move is yours, for good or for ill.
Kenton deftly works to relieve the blinded bullies of their weaponry.
To Orange he says, Drop your blade, my good man, and no blood need be shed today.
Kenton calmly moves between the gang of toughs and the rest of the party, saying low as he passes, Don't kill unless necessary. We have no need to quarrel, Master Eta, Kenton calls out, his blade in his hand but consciously lowered to point at the dirt by his boots. But your insolent words toward nobility, and your threats of violence toward the same, cannot be ignored. Your writ gives you no such leave in this regard. Ready: Kenton will attempt to disarm the first foe in range who makes a melee attack roll. No Improved Disarm feat.
Kenton, his blade in his hand almost at once, interposes himself between Lord Karthis and Giado Eta. You are welcome to try, good sir, he says, but your baring of steel versus a non-threatening noble does not bode well for your authority.
Kenton knows little of Nature, and less of farming; but takes direction well, and is a willing worker.
