1 person marked this as a favorite.

Multiple Choice - From what I understand, our settlement will be generic with some buildings and a basic wood wall with a few towers and a gate. I would think the next big step would be stone.

Agreed wholeheartedly on having stockpiles of arrows, potions, etc. We want enough for us, but a surplus should be sold so that we don't end up being a target for a raid. Granted, raids will most certainly happen, but we need to figure out a way to minimize the amount of things that can be stolen. I have a few ideas there, but I don't want to publicize them. No offense to anyone reading this, but this forum IS open to all.

If you have thoughts or suggestions for strategic defense / protection of assets, please feel free to PM me.

I like the idea of a majority of players starting out good... that gives room for people to morph from good to evil and vice versa. A lawful good character that frequently gets tempted to do evil will eventually become evil, even if they don't start off the game evil. 4:1 ratio really isn't a bad thing, either... the more good, the less likely someone will expect you to be bad, thus more options for mayhem.

Just my opinion. Take it or leave it.

Multiple Choice - good to see someone looking at infrastructure like I am... carpentry is wonderful. We'll also end up needing stone masonry for building walls and fortifications, but carpentry is definitely the foundation for getting that stuff built... it is in real life, anyway. Not sure if it will be separate in game.

I'm getting excited just thinking about it. I'm definitely an infrastructure guy too... I have loved castle design for years. Having explored several castles in England and seen how different designs do different things for you in the defense of your lands, I can't wait to be a part of it.

LOUD NOISES!!! I love lamp!

No seriously, I can't wait for this game to go live and be able to work with you guys. The game has such a great potential, as does Dagedai.

I've been gaming with Darcnes for over a decade now... great leader with a great vision for more than just right now. We will all find a nice place in that plan and I'm sure we'll have a blast together.

I'm disabled and don't work, so... I'll probably be on... a lot.

A little about me: I was in the military for 12 yrs, I know the strategy, etc for defending a settlement. I've apparently been tasked with defending you sorry pukes! (sorry, basic training humor) Seriously, though, apparently there will be a lot of military strategy and some defense to manage, so... I can't wait for that part. It's right up my alley.

First of all, let me introduce myself - long time MMO player since EQ 1, and I have played many MMO's mainly as a guild's main tank.

On to my question/suggestion: So, we know that attacking another player in PVP, we can loot things from them. We also know that since every player will know that, they will want to store their things in some sort of bank/vault in their settlement or a city.

Here's the fun stuff: My suggestion would be that if a settlement is raided, that a portion of the money in the vault could be raided and random items could be grabbed up to X number of them. In the future, once kingdoms have been established, sacking a royal vault could be even more worthwhile.

- Additional caveat- one would have to have skills in cracking safes/vaults (additional skill beyond lock picking) and it should take some time to do so... so if one was interrupted or killed in the process of cracking the safe, the process would start over.

I know we want deterrents to PVP... we don't want everyone just running around all willy-nilly killing for loot, but if the immense challenge of attacking a settlement was overcome, a nice reward would be great.

Thoughts?

I'm definitely in, Darcnes. This is almost exactly how I would have written the description. Can't wait to play.
