Settlement Name: Dagedai
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Tax Rate: 10.0%
Leadership: Oligarchy
New Members: On Approval

Operated by: Audacity - LN

Settlement Purpose:
We aim to provide a major point of commerce, for both bulk and crafted goods, with a heavy emphasis on import/export while maintaining an active marketplace for those that wish to buy and sell goods of their own. We will also deal in craftables, both domestic and foreign.

Settlement Goals:
We will be looking to stabilize our region through the settling of POIs, thus expanding the area in which our members are active. We will need groups that are ready to take on POI and outpost management as we push outward. In addition to stabilizing our hexes, we intend to pursue active trade, both with our allies and others that are simply interested in exchanging goods, as well as the creation and sale of craftables.

Settlement Focus:
Initially, the roles we will focus on are Rogue, Cleric, Crafting and Trading, with preference given to the specialties our members dedicate themselves to. We do intend to offer training for Fighters and Wizards that wish to take up residence. We have also established training arrangements with other settlements as another way to support a healthy variety of play styles. As more classes are released, we will gauge interest among members when deciding whether to support them.

Description:
Dagedai is designed to offer a blend of resources that we hope is unique to this part of the River Kingdoms. We feel that by offering a safe place to train and trade that we will be able to grow while those who use our facilities find success in their own endeavors. We believe that we can further promote this growth through strong collaboration between members, and with our allies. Ultimately this settlement is meant to foster both knowledge and a strong economy, by which we intend to lend stability to our home region.

PVP:
You may engage in PVP or not as you choose. The exception to this rule is when our territory or settlement is being invaded or otherwise brought to a point of high alarm. At this point we expect all members to immediately lend assistance in solving the issue at hand. This alarm is not intended to be exercised regularly, it is meant to ensure that should we need to repel an attack of some kind on our territory, that we are going to mount a swift response to the threat so that we may sooner carry on with our respective activities. All of the above applies should we ever find ourselves in a state of war.

Note: We insist that our members maintain a positive playstyle, this does not mean you may not kill people, but it does mean you may not camp or otherwise grief them.

Member Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility that we will expect of members is to contribute to the continued success of our settlement, both by tending to our territory and by generating some form of income. These expectations may very well coincide.

Member Conduct:
Three primary rules govern settler conduct:
1) Honor any and all alliances that the settlement has made.
2) Represent your settlement well, act in good conscience.
3) Maintain your reputation, do not tarnish ours.

Looks great. I hope to be able to come and go in peaceful trade in your lands. Best of luck to you!

Love that competition is popping up!

Goblin Squad Member

It may come as a surprise, but I do not view other trading centers as competition.

Without other centers to trade at, there is not likely to be as much traffic, nor hubs from which to easily acquire goods from the respective surrounding region.

I feel that a network of trading hubs is going to be imperative to the growth of the River Kingdoms as a whole, whatever the political climate may be.

I've added your Guild to the Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links list. If you have a brief description you'd like to appear there to let people know about your guild while they're browsing that list, just PM me or post a clear request here.

The Seventh Veil welcomes you to the community.

Exciting times, eh? :)

Thanks Nihimon!

Hey, as long as there is profit to be made at one end of the exchange or another, I am fine with whichever way that you choose to view it.

Politically, I hope that we are ALWAYS on good terms so that proper trade (between any such sites) is not hampered.

Let it be known that we are also looking for companies that wish to immediately pursue settlements of their own. We are actively looking to establish early relations and offer support where we can to the settlements that grow up around us.

We would be happy to act as a base of operations until the new settlements have advanced enough to be self-sufficient.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to The Balanced Scales Trading Company for joining our great Settlement.

Much profit, so coin.

Goblin Squad Member

Good Work Audacity and grats to the Balanced Scales!

Goblin Squad Member

Landrush guild is now awaiting approval by Goblins. Soon ready for votes!

Goblin Squad Member

For your voting pleasure!

Goblin Squad Member

Love your motto! :)

Goblin Squad Member

Thanks! I was pretty happy with it too haha

Goblin Squad Member

Looking forward to trading with the Scales and fighting alongside Audacity!

Goblin Squad Member

Greetings!

I have been called to serve the Settlement of Dagedai.

I am looking forward to discovering just what that means...

Goblin Squad Member

Greetings Grimmel, glad to have you! We should not lack for things to keep us busy in this endeavor. ;)

I will be very interested to see how our stories intertwine going forward.

Goblin Squad Member

I like what I see! More trade = more profit. I do hope our settlements can work out some trade across the alignment divide.

Goblin Squad Member

And I like the way you think Gpunk. ;)

I think with us being neutral, it is merely a difference in how we operate towards the same end goals. We wish you the best, as yours will be the more challenging journey of the two, but with the right trade agreements in place, that should be reasonably simple to overcome.

Goblin Squad Member

Greetings and Salutations all.

The Settlement of Dagedai already feels like home. I look forward to many friendships and much profit.

Goblin Squad Member

Great to have you Valen Nemora!

Be sure to pop over to the Landrush and hit apply!

Really excited to see what Dagedai will become with the support it is receiving.

Goblin Squad Member

I welcome the chance to grow and prosper with our great settlement. Here's to many fortune filled days and nights!

OOC I already did. My ID is magestrike. :) Thanks for including me. Looking forward to playing.

Goblin Squad Member

Ahha, I had wondered if that was you. ;)

Goblin Squad Member

Greetings Darcnes and the members of Audacity. While I have welcomed you in our Chancery, I noted today that I had not formally done the same here. The Keepers are eager to see Dagedai's success and look forward to mutually beneficial trade and diplomatic agreements in the future.

Goblin Squad Member

Absolutely Erian, we will be doing a great deal of business I believe. =)

Goblin Squad Member

This looks like an awesome settlement. Mercenaries and merchants will make a great combination.

Goblin Squad Member

Congrats on the good showing on the leader boards. May you continue to prosper.

Goblin Squad Member

Thanks Cougar! Nice to see you guys doing so well too.

Greetings!

I am looking forward to my new home as well as doing my best for the Dagedai.

EE cannot get here soon enough!

Goblin Squad Member

NytCrawlr, glad to see you!

The anticipation is thick around here. ><

Congratulations on 30, Dagedai!

Goblin Squad Member

Thanks you two! Been holding steady this weekend, hope things pick up again next week. ;)

LOUD NOISES!!! I love lamp!

No seriously, I can't wait for this game to go live and be able to work with you guys. The game has such a great potential, as does Dagedai.

I've been gaming with Darcnes for over a decade now... great leader with a great vision for more than just right now. We will all find a nice place in that plan and I'm sure we'll have a blast together.

I'm disabled and don't work, so... I'll probably be on... a lot.

A little about me: I was in the military for 12 yrs, I know the strategy, etc for defending a settlement. I've apparently been tasked with defending you sorry pukes! (sorry, basic training humor) Seriously, though, apparently there will be a lot of military strategy and some defense to manage, so... I can't wait for that part. It's right up my alley.

I joined up a week or 2 ago, but just decided to introduce myself.

For my non-adventuring character (have the dual-leveling kickstarter thing), I'm primarily looking to be a crafter of some sort (Expert class), likely carpentry to build structures and carts/wagons for trading. After all, while caravan guards and drivers may get all the glory for getting goods to market, they're not going anywhere with a broken axle. Someone has to build the infrastructure.

Why did I decide to join Dagedai? Because it sounds like you plan to create a meritocracy with a well-regulated capitalistic approach.

Goblin Squad Member

Thanks for stopping by Multiple Choice!

I like your approach towards supporting the infrastructure. At its heart, that is how Dagedai came about.

I believe that Audacity's attitude towards mastery and monetary gain will provide a groundwork for Dagedai's policies on such things.

Glad to have you and looking forward to seeing you in game!

Goblin Squad Member

Multiple Choice - good to see someone looking at infrastructure like I am... carpentry is wonderful. We'll also end up needing stone masonry for building walls and fortifications, but carpentry is definitely the foundation for getting that stuff built... it is in real life, anyway. Not sure if it will be separate in game.

I'm getting excited just thinking about it. I'm definitely an infrastructure guy too... I have loved castle design for years. Having explored several castles in England and seen how different designs do different things for you in the defense of your lands, I can't wait to be a part of it.

Kegerator is a great guy to talk with about building up support for Dagedai.

I'd hope he's a great guy to talk with about brew recipes.

Les Compagnons are pleased to be neighbor with Dagedai as we both share the same values. I am sure that our relationship will be highly profitable on all levels.

While M may have been a more ideal location, L is excellent as well. Looks like we'll wind up focusing on agricultural exports (food, herbs, potions) given the surrounding terrain.

We can also seek to turn a profit as a last-stop market before adventurers get out into the as-yet unclaimed sections of the map. With that in mind, consumables like potions, bolts, arrows, rations, etc. are prime good to keep in stock.

PS: We'll want to build wooden fortifications first (if available) and worry about stone defenses once we have favorable trade relations with Pas Golgotha, Empyrean Order, or Keepers of the Circle. They'll be our trading partners for iron and stone.

Goblin Squad Member

@Multiple Choice

If you want stone, I know a certain Forgeholm settlement that needs food and will have plenty of dwarf laborers to acquire all manner of metals and stone.

Just a comment.

Goblin Squad Member

You make securing the SW look good. Congrats!

...and good to know with the addition of Les Compagnons to the RA, we have a secured trade route along the southern bluffs.

Goblin Squad Member

@BrotherZael

I was simply taking a look at the closest mountain settlements. We'd be more than happy to trade with Forgeholm given sufficient security for the caravans.

As long as we don't turn into Monsanto; It should all be good trading. ^.^

Goblin Squad Member

@Armenfast > Really excited to see you guys take up residence at AD. Looking forward to a strong relationship with Les Compagnons.

@Multiple Choice > M was actually our second choice, L was slightly better for positioning in the long run. We already have a few agreements in place concerning exchange of plains goods for forest, highlands and mountain goods and will be looking to expand the exchange of goods across the map with various trade alliances.

We have also arranged to cover training for the classes we support but do not specialize in.

Is there some other website for the settlement that I should be looking into? There is clearly a lot more going on than is posted here . . .

You don't know how right you are. Start by asking for people's TS3 diplomacy channels ;P

Goblin Squad Member

Working on a large project for the community currently, but a dedicated site has been requested. I will make it a point to have one up soon.

Multiple Choice - From what I understand, our settlement will be generic with some buildings and a basic wood wall with a few towers and a gate. I would think the next big step would be stone.

Agreed wholeheartedly on having stockpiles of arrows, potions, etc. We want enough for us, but a surplus should be sold so that we don't end up being a target for a raid. Granted, raids will most certainly happen, but we need to figure out a way to minimize the amount of things that can be stolen. I have a few ideas there, but I don't want to publicize them. No offense to anyone reading this, but this forum IS open to all.

If you have thoughts or suggestions for strategic defense / protection of assets, please feel free to PM me.
