I really enjoy your sensibility Jason. I had contemplated several times posting this exact statement, but I was not sure if it was worth it. I will, however, definitely seconded it. When it comes down to it, whether a character is 1st level or 12th, it still holds absolutely not real world value. It cannot be sold nor traded. The only value that can be defined is how much money or time someone spends to get to that point. So put simply, this seems to boil down a stark disagreement as to the manner in which people are allowed to experience that time and money that they have invested. Although I have my opinion on what way is most beneficial for my fun and enjoyment, I will never be so bold as to say everyone should have to or even expect to experience everything the same way.

Hrmm, quite simply put, life is never a nice little tidy package that can be planned properly. The way it occurred was do to us swelling our numbers and the new group of players coming in wanting to experience PFS from the beginning, like I and several others already had, and not having enough in their group to make a legal table size of four. I fail to see how that is such an impossibility. We are not organizing this through some shop or hub of any sort. It is quite simply a handful of us that fell in love with the Pathfinder system and decided that we wanted to be a part of the organized play society. By the sounds of it, our enthusiasm was misplaced and should have been tempered since the only source of abuse that has been listed has been my example of our play. I was going to be a bit asinine and re-post the "play, play, play!" rules, but I believe everyone still get's the original jest of them. Our intent in doing this and using the rule sets that were provided for players to utilize was simply to help make the game enjoyable for new players and to continue enjoying the game ourselves. At no point did we ever "farm" any of the scenarios and decisions were always deferred to the new players. Also, (since I do feel like I am having to protect both my honor and that of those I game with here) at no point in time did any of us ever request to replay. It only occurred when we were asked to join the table. I do have to ask, at what point has it been said that we have to limit ourselves to only playing twice a month, every month. I apologize if I missed that as well. When we first started playing, we would sometimes play twice in a week just simply because we could not wait to be a part of the next adventure. I understand that for those who have been able to run through all or most of the scenarios this becomes vital so that play does not become stagnate, but I believe that for those of us that are just getting are feet wet in the seasons, we still have a lot to take part in before we hit that wall. I realize my bias in this, but quite honestly, if the only example for abuse that can be given is solely based off of my recount of our use of the rules to entice new players then I feel I have to cry "foul!"

Thank you both, and Leonal, this does sound vaguely familiar in reminiscent to the potion belt, however it a bit vague when it states Quote: Each pouch has a stiff leather flap that can be secured against jostling with a clasp (requiring a move action to open or close) or left unfastened for easier access. Do you know if this equates to it predecessor's ability to draw a potion as a free action? Again. Thanks for the response.
So a simple yet dedicated mundane item from 3.5 DnD is very sorely missed on my PFS character. In the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting on page 96 it lists a potion belt and a masterwork potion belt. These are worn as bandoleers but hold only potions. The regular belt holds 6 and the mwk belt holds 10. With either belt, once per round a potion can be drawn from it as a free action as opposed to a move action. This is due to the fact that there is no fumbling around in your gear searching- you just reach up and grab the potion. Since this technological wonder is a simple strip of leather with slots sewn on, I was hoping it would be available in the Pathfinder system somewhere. Can an item such as this be found in any of the Pathfinder books? If so then please tell me which one so I can purchase it forthwith.
O.k.
Here is the setup for my thoughts. I started playing organized play in September of last year with a handful of players (about 6). Since then we have increased our numbers to just shy of 20. We started playing in season 0 and our highest level so far is level 5. We have used the "Play, play, play!" rule extensively with about 3 out of our gaming group (myself included) having made secondary characters to help facilitate play. This has been beneficial several times over considering how many players have joined our group in such a short time and the fact that they came in small spurts. How is it possible that this has become a source of abuse and in what way does it effect over all game play for PFS (although I can speculate I'd rather have specific examples since there was a lot of thought put into the reasoning for this ruling). I realize that this may have been (o.k. so more then likely) discussed at length so if someone can direct me to the information or send me a message I'd be very appreciative. Regardless, we have been playing with the "play, play, play!" mindset being none the wiser that this was even an issue. This will be a large detriment to our group because as we spread out and gain more players into PFS it becomes more important for there to be a variety of options so that the gaming group can play. The fact that the PDF for organized play has not been update while stating that this ruling is already in effect is another source of contention. At the very least I hope that there is a grandfather clause that will be placed, and that it will not go into effect until after the PDF is updated. |
