"If it is crazy dark magic... Well, wait." Katie doesn't know much about dark magic, at least not specifically--but she does know stories. "The hut might be protecting itself? If that's the case, it might be able to help us find it, since we're... y'know..." She makes a vague gesture towards her cloak, trying to intone that they have the mantles of the riders. "That's just a guess, anyways."
"If he is one? I'll kick his butt." Katie jokes with a smirk. "Seriously, good thinking. It's like the sort of thing you'd see in a story, before..." And she trails off again, writing some sort of romantic play in her own mind. Oh, but there was that other girl, too, wasn't there? .......Katie has much to think on.
Katie says nothing, but gives him a threatening glare, too in order to help out Skane as best she can.
"Yes! Alone time! You guys make sure to take all the time you need!" Katie flexes an arm. "Leave the heavy lifting to me today! You've been doing all the hard work lately anyways." She follows after Geedra, throwing the goblin a covert thumbs-up.
"Huh?! Oh! Yes! I... yes." She can't get it off of her hand fast enough to hand over to Skane. "Trading items between you... ah, a promise of the loveliest of loves..! I'll have to note it down for later..!"

"He was a local fixture for a good while... We met a little bit after my mom and dad threw me out of my room for--well why doesn't matter, let's not get into me." She waves a hand at Anja as if to say she should put it out of her mind. "But we're just traveling buddies. I drive him crazy, half the time, really. Pretty sure I'm in little sister territory, there... Always have, but my sword arm's good and his arms are both... well, you know, so we sort of wound up watching each other's backs before too long!"
I mean, to be fair I've fallen down an MMORPG hole at least once too, so it's not like you're the only one who's disappeared for a bit. I'm really having fun here too, and happy whatever december holiday you guys are going with to all'yall.
Katie starts to squeal. She then covers her mouth. She can't stop squealing into her hands for about six seconds. After she's done she takes a bold step forward and, unusually for someone so typically unlikely to talk to people she's unfamiliar with, grabs Skane's arm and tugs it towards Anja to goad him into a handshake. "It's good to meet you, Anja. This is Skane. Ingvarssonn. We're all very happy to meet you. Also I'm Katie. Rosten. But that's not important... you two should say hi. It's been a long, troubling day."
"Okay so... we have to deliver these to the storehouse, and to the safe house. This could be..." No. Heck with it. "This is bad. Shelyn's pen, what are we going to do..." She rubs her temples, trying not to panic over the idea of picking a fight with half the city. "If it was just Skane, once the rimepelt was done the guy'd be none the wiser, but I just HAD to be there... so that won't exactly work. And I'm no good at disguises..! I just hit things with a sword! Is there a way we can make this a hit things with a sword problem? I'm good at those!"
She waits for the scary mirror man thing to turn the corner before asking the relevant question: "Skane, what did you do?"
Katie just has to roll with it and makes a point of not looking directly at anyone, taking her cue from Skane on this one. She really wants to fold her arms, but since she can't really tell if that would be too aggressive for the current situation or not, she settles for balling her hands into fists.
oh shit... That sucks. I'm for continuing, since in theory we should still be okay to continue, but... This sucks! That can't be said loud enough.
Not having any faith in her ability to hide herself, Katie does try hiding her sword and buckler on the cart. She's always been too fidgety to properly hide. Swords, though. They don't fidget.
That sucks! Sorry to hear about it.
Katie thrusts the tip of her sword into the ground, summoning up all of her terrifying presence into a glare at the goblins. "You heard Geedra. Get."
"It occurs to me that if we wore the rimepelt coming in, people might not be messing with us now..." Katie moves for one of the goblins in melee with Skane, running her fingers along her blade to infuse it with magic before she goes for the fences with a big twohanded swing.
"Skane, feel like pretending to be a wolf next time we have to deal with the locals?"
Katie grits her teeth through the flames, and sucks in a bit of air before bursting into a clear song once more. Her allies are good at fighting on their own, but while inspired by the clear tones of a bard... Well, she would rather they be done with these flatheaded things sooner, instead of later. She draws her sword, readying herself to join in the melee soon.

I dunno if any of you guys are the twitch stream watching/following type, but if you are I am doing a thing in the near future.
"Yeah... that's almost too much... just to make up overhead we'd have to sell..." She tics off numbers on her fingers. "That's... a lot of fish? Maybe I could sell some art on the side."
She notices nothing, and largely keeps to herself aside saying goodbye to their guide so far.
Katie is awakened from her daydreams of wolves, the human forms they take, and the possible romantic implications of them and otherwise unassuming women (it still feels like it's missing something, but she'll figure it out later) by the imposing and rather appealing woman's approach. She sees that Skane and Geedra likely have it, and stills her tongue. Katie still would rather not use it on someone who looks like they can use her as a javelin.
Is the board working again, now..?
As for Katie, she whispers a quick Cure Light Wounds spell before rushing up next to Skane and poking him with it. She may be singing an angry song, but it's worth making sure that he doesn't die.
Katie continues on with her angry song, making a mental note to count the people fighting the guards as 'allies' for the purposes of her music.
As for her, slashing at the guard that hit her.
"What'd I tell you? Two swings." Katie wryly quips, drawing her blade as well. She takes in a deep breath, lets her frustration boil to the surface, and begins to sing. Well, 'sing' is something of a strong word this time, she's outright yelling in Ulfen from the very bowels of her lungs in a semi-melodic way that nonetheless serves to pump up one's blood. Ulfen: "Tried talking, that got nowhere!
Your honor's just a farce! Your blood will paint this snow red! This town is done with yooooou!!"
"If we jump in and save him, Skane's going to be complaining about it all the way back to the sled... and then probably for the next week or two. The Ogre's strong, but Skane's pretty hard to hit." She pauses for a count of three. "We'll give him two more swings."
Katie can try fascinating the enemy if things go south. ...Wait, she can only fascinate two people. ......Beans.
...Oh. Now Katie has something to do. She's going to go ahead and paint an entire picture in her head, just so that she can try putting it down later in entirety. In the meanwhile... "Go Skane! Stab his face in!"
While Skane Skanes, Katie goes through her mental list of ways she can possibly help without breaking the rules (Ulfen Honor was more of his thing than hers, to be perfectly honest). Skane's strong, sure, but if she can stack the deck she probably should. Timely Inspiration had a vocal requirement, and would shine magically. Same for Saving Finale, and she'd have to be singing besides. Any of her musical-based abilities also would be fairly obvious... She's a buffer left unable to buff, and so all she can do is worry her lip and fold her arms. 'Skane, if you live through this, I'm going to strangle you for making me worry.'
Katie is going to strangle you after this is over, Skane. In a sisterly, concerned manner.
Katie, while the others are talking and Skane is doing his... Skane thing, will just have a quiet look around the room to see how many guards the guy keeps handy for in case of a fight breaking out in his office.
"Um... um..." If she leaves this to Skane... That's a fight. Geedra? That's a fight. Cara? That's... possibly a fight. Uuuugh, this is her least favorite thing in the world, and she's still already had to try being the people person once today. Still, she's going to try! "We're here for Ringeirr." Katie chimes in, walking to the front of the group. "You should let us have him. Trust me, it's easier that way."
10-4. Also I am back.
The others have this well in hand. Katie pulls out her diary and starts sketching again, pausing only to look menacingly at the man on occasion.
Katie gives a small nod, grabbing her sword and strapping on her buckler. "Yeah. Somewhere nice and quiet where people won't hear, so that he won't be worried about prying ears. Good plan." Is she being naive on purpose or on accident?
Katie makes sure her blade is okay. She'd wanted to take some time to properly connect with it... but she supposed it could wait for them to rescue Nadia's uncle. It'd take a couple days, after all, and they might not have that. "Yeah... like Geedra said. Don't worry, we'll make sure to rescue him."
SCARY GLARE. THE SCARIEST GLARE.
She even points at her eyes, then points at them. Terrifying.
"Agreed." Talking to unfamiliar people--in front of other unfamiliar people no less--still gives her the willies (Singing aside. Singing is easy, it's just performing other people's art.), but if she can stare down four trained fighters then maybe this wouldn't have to come to blows and they could all just move along with their day. She steels her nerves, opens her mouth, and promptly shuts it before slinking back to let Skane do the scary parts. One attempt at being a people person is one attempt more than she's used to, and there was the trip in after all! She's more than willing to give a good ol' menacing stare from behind him if he goes that route though!
"Now that's something I'm good at. Alright, I'm in." She breaks into a smile. "Let's bust some heads and find this guy."
After a lengthy pause, Katie looks over at Cara. "Well. He seemed nice?" She's really not sure what to make of the entire situation, aside from their needing to find some of these jadwiga in the city itself. "We should probably keep going..."
"Gnome... Okay. Sure. We'll give it a shot." Katie is focused on not screwing it up. Also on trying to avoid doing any of the talking herself, until she's inevitably backed into it.

Hey, just thought of this: Who's wearing the ring of feather falling right now?
"I could try... disguises aren't my forte, but..." Oh, wait. There's a social problem. That was supposed to be the job of a Bard, wasn't it? But she wasn't really a bard bard... and the trolls were a little bit... terrifying... But Nadya needed those dogs. Loved them, even. And love... Love is lovely, so she has to protect it! OKAY, you arcane duelist! It's time to bard! For love! "So... if we give you dogs, we can go? That's what you're saying, right? But dogs are... well, they're good for pulling, but they get old really fast, and they wind up having to eat all of your food, and then they die." She's not 100% sure where she's going with this... until she is. An idea hits. "So... how about I give you something wonderful instead? Dogs are nice, but do you know what's eternal? Entertainment. In exchange for passage, I'll teach the lot of you the absolutely perfect song to sing to strike terror into the hearts of anyone who would ever try to pass the troll bridge without paying the troll toll. I should know, being rather terrifying while singing it myself. As a bonus, the song will even let the courage within you well up and let you all be your very best, as well." She's pretty sure that it only works that way when she sings it, but if they can trade music for passage... well, it's worth a shot.
The ability to finally +1 up my own longsword. :D
