When you head back up to the ground floor entrance, you find a secret door standing open, leading back into the sunlight. There your lizardwoman guide steps out from the bushes. "You were gone a long time. I wassss attacked and couldn't defend all the mounts. It will be a difficult trek back to the cccccity."
Just fyi I totally forgot to clarify earlier. This encounter was in your second day of travel. So you're due to come to the temple later today. Kassseen nods. "We should move on. The scent of your blood will draw others. The temple is not far." She begins leading the way back through the thick brush, using large herbivore trails when possible and hacking through vegetation when she must. Finally, you come out into a clearing where you can see the ruined stone of a temple overgrown with vegetation. The vegetation is so thick it is very difficult to tell how large the temple is from here without circling it. You see decorated stonework from here but no visible entrance from this vantage.
Handle animal Olivia: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 The lizard is relatively docile for her Olivia and, with everyone packed, Kassseen leads you north across the city through the winding, bustling streets full of bright colors and varied noises. The buildings get shorter and farther apart as the city bleeds into the neighboring jungle. You travel along a dirt trail through the jungle for a while until Kassseen points off the trail. "Now we mussst leave the trail and make our way through the bush." She draws a very sharp-looking machete and begins choosing the path of least resistance through the jungle and only fighting her way through the vegetation when necessary. Marching order? Kassseen knows the way but doesn't necessarily have to be in front.
Good guess, Olivia. Giant lizard: 75 gp. Hold breath variant is 150 gp. Spider climb variant is 350 gp. The lizard-woman nods. "If all goess well, the journey there will take two dayss. Then two daysss back." It is clear that the syllables of common do not come naturally to her. Her Rs, Ss, and Ks are all over-emphasized.
The lizard woman makes a repeated hissing sound in her throat when Halgrin mentions feed. DC 14 insight or history:
This is equivalent to laughing for her. "Bring feed if you do want the hair-beassst to dine on poisssons it doess not underssstand. Or bring a riding lizard and avoid that risssk." She bends her powerful neck at the introduction. "I am Kassseen. As to materialss, bring much water, food that will not ssspoil, tentsss, hatchetss, rope, medical ssuppliess, and weapons. A compass would also be ussseful if we are ssseparated." |
