Norv and company, As a player I have never abandoned a game. I like long running games. Fair disclosure though, I might have a chance to go to Africa in June for 10-12 days and I have no idea if there will be internet there. Karl Marsh is a rogue/ranger hybrid, he is a swordsman. He is an older warrior a very grim character with a very detailed back story that effects his reactions and interactions in the game. His prized possessions are his matched sword and main gauche. I use the rogue abilities and talents to help make him more deadly with those. He is Dex based, not the most efficient build, but that is to help create in game my mental picture of him. I was thinking of adding a level of barbarian to him to depict an older warrior who taps into the heart of his younger warrior self during spurts of activity, the fatigue would be his older body slowing him down. The concept is an older warrior who is rusty after coming out of retirement. I am open to suggestions on that though. Otherwise I think I would make him 3 levels ranger 2 levels rogue for entry into the game. He plays the violin, has the manners of a noble, but there is a sad bitterness about him at times. My favorite games ran about a year and a half, one ran two years. It really bums me out when games start like a house of fire then die out. I have joined a few games like that. I am hoping to step into something long lasting. I like to post at least once a day. Do you guys have any questions for me?
I would be interested. I have been playing Arthas in our other game. I could update this character to 5th. This character is from a game that died, but he is well established in my head and rough around the edges enough for a Crimson Throne game. How about a ranger/rogue hybrid? It gives the party a fighter with a ranged ability and rogue utility.

You guys, my mother in law passed away a few days ago in her sleep. I have two small girls and a wife struggling with the loss. I am trying to run the house and help with the estate. I haven't signed on for a few days and feel horrible for the disappearance. I hope you will accept my apologies.

"I agree and I think the book figures into this somehow. Our party is worse for wear right now. If we get too much more banged up I am worried they will think we are easy prey. I am not sure how much they care for their hired help either, but for the moment they need us and vice versa."

Marsh nods unemotionally towards linkah. When the opportunity presents itself he moves up to Reginald. "As you can see a few minutes of time has saved us an hour of searching. So, tell me, have you born witness to the green flash?"

"Mr Beckett already has demons at his gates and Phedron bears the book. I'll not have Linkah wear one, though he's strong enough. You've earned the right to ask Drogan and your logic in this is infallible." Karl reaches forward with a hand that trembles against his iron will. "Desna bless it!" "Here give me it. Go tell Carver and the others what these do while I take the ride." Karl places the loop over his neck.

Karl folds his arms and watches the bard ply his art. "Stand your ground a minute and let the dwarf do his work. If a bit of chat saves us another fight and near death its well worth it. These blades can come back out as fast as needed, but they can't undead you once your dead." Karl glares at Reginald to chill his antics. "Knock that s!+* off! We're in the middle of a negotiation here. Your hired men know what their doing." Karl turns his outward attention back to the gnomes, but keeps an eye on his temporary companions. He can practically feel their daggers in his back. "Oh, and we already know about the green so relax yourself. Heh heh heh."

Karl warns. "Take em along, we can grind em up or burn em. Though I do appreciate the enthusiasm." "Carver, are you ready to move out?" "Anyone bring a curing wand?"

Karl begins to breathe out a maniacal chuckle which he has to stifle. Placing a steadying hand on his fellow woodsman he offers an explaination. "Thank the gods, they are ghouls man, just plain and ordinary ghouls. I know it is hard for you to understand, but that's the best news I've had in quite a while." "Why the uniform green cloaks though? Who were they with? Fangers? Gods do I hope you don't mean vampires. Karl licks his lip before nodding to Carver. "Alright. We will both go forward up there and to the right. With just two of us we don't dare split sides where we can't help each other flank or get back to back quick. We hit them from there, hopefully pick them off at range. I totally missed the info in the spoiler. "Ghouls Linkah?" he whispered, "What are they?" Karl gets his bow out. To the dwarf. "No. No we aren't. I'd guess we're more like pilgrims than couriers." "I think the young knight and you should go speak somewhere in private." -------------------------------------------
". . . Good luck son. We had to leave someone behind that knew what our mission was about. Of all of us you're in the best position to do something with that knowledge. Quite frankly an armored knight down in the caverns beneath the school would be a liability, but all that aside we will miss you and we will miss your sword. I wouldn't be here without you son, what, three times now." "Meh, superstitions, uh?" "Tell you what, take the horses and keep them for us. You can sell em if we don't come back. Make alliances and try to find out whom we can count on in this shanty town. Who's who and all that." "<<<sigh>>> I'm not gonna lie, I'm worried about this lot Beckett joined us up with. Nothin for it now, but find out what you can about them too. Here's a scrap of paper I wrote down a description and what little I know of them and their charge." "Well that's it I guess. Want to place a bet? Next time we meet will it be in line to see the Lady of Graves, or us needing to beat feet outta here? Heh heh." "If it's the first, I need you to go get a package Linkah's uncle is holding for you in Absolom." "Your dad would be proud of the man you've become son. Live it."

Sure dude, your RL friends are sooooo much cooler than us we get it. ;) You guys I am still into this game. My workplace was flooded in a storm and is currently considered 90% unusable. I work at a school and the kids start Monday. We have been trying to get ourselves ready. We literally ordered a circus tent to conduct all of the classes in it. We are punting and I work until late tonight and all day tomorrow. Please give me some slack until Sunday.

Karl moves back into the tent. His mood one of thoughtful brooding. He gets a drink and rejoins the party. After watching Drogan and Vaca speaking of books and archiving techniques and the paladin exchanging pleasantries with the dwarves for almost a half an hour, Karl stands up and interrupts. "You must excuse me gentlemen, but my party and I have a schedule to keep and should i fail to move things along, we might greet the dawn before Mister Drogan is done explaining the different grades of acid free velum preparation washes he endorses." "We have delivery for you sir." He says gesturing towards the rightful owner of the masterpiece hammer. "A small item that you had ordered sometime ago from a blacksmith shop on the coast." "Would you like to take delivery here sir? Or would you prefer to conclude our business and balance books in some other location?"

content that there wasn't going to be an immediate melee, Karl shuffles off in a random direction like a hobo with no real place to be. As soon as he is a few blocks past where he knows he isn't bring watched he straightens his back and dusts himself off before circling back to the tent city inn.
