Male Noble Hobgoblin Spell less ranger

Helped by his companions, Karak brings back the prisoner into the Inn.

"Black Company business. We had to dealt with some trouble makers. Please remain calm and seated.", he says, entering the Inn again.

Do you have any thoughts about where we go from here? Someone certainly didn't want us snooping around the inn, so we need to come back in there, but at this point it might mean another fight.

Nightflier, is there a city guard that is separated from the two companies and you still haven't answered my question about our standing and what we have authority to do within the city.

From what Karak saw in the Inn, it should be safe coming in. Maybe the commotion is just due to the fight outside. Karak would be for getting in.

At the Inn:

With a quick stride, Karak reaches the tangled man. Sheathing his whip and shield, he searches the man for weapons and removes them. Grabbing the man by the collar, he effortlessly lift him up to his face.

Baring his fangs, he growls: "You head the First asking you to drop your weapons, and you fired on her. So now, instead of talking to her, you've got me. You now have five seconds to tell me who you are, why did you attack and who sent you before I start chewing you up. And it's not an image."

Perception to find and remove hidden weapons: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 = 17
intimidate: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 2 = 23

First group

Roaring, Karak rushes out of the Inn, drawing a barbed whip in one hand and readying his light shield in the other.
At the end of his move, 15 ft from his closest enemy, he lashes out.

Move 30 foot while drawing both weapons (shield and whip),
Standard action: whip attack 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 18, damage: 1d4 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 2 = 9

How far are the crossbowmen? Are they human?

Male Noble Hobgoblin Spell less ranger

Nightflier, is there any move in the tavern? See my previous post.

"Yes, Ma'am"

Karak opens the door, his massive frame taking most of the doorway.

"Good evening Sirs and Madams, please resume your activities as usual."

Scanning the assembly, he tries to determine who is a potential threat or who is afraid of the uniform he bears.

Perception check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 +2 versus Humans
Sense motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 +2 versus Humans

If no ones seems dangerous, he steps to the side to clear the way for the rest of the squad.

Hands on his whips, Karak waits for his commander's orders.

"Do you want me to take the lead to avoid any surprises, First?"

"It sounds like a good idea to track this guy first. Maybe we could send a runner to the barracks with a message to the capitain. We will need his approval to board a ship."

Male Noble Hobgoblin Spell less ranger

Agreed, we may need to find maps and more information on the sites we are going though.

Male Noble Hobgoblin Spell less ranger

Totally ooc reflexion on the next steps. The map on the wall showed three possible destination near Sandpoint, plus glyphs with a description.
Has anyone tried to read those glyphs?

If we want to get there as fast as possible, we can either have someone teleport us there or sail there.

Karak can't repress a flicker of delight at the news they were send out of town."YES, Yes Yes...After all those years, I'll be able to go out and see the world."

With a half smile, he turns to his leaders:
"I don't know how far this wyvern will take the criminal, but it can't go that fast, since the wyvern needs to hunt and eat a lot. If we know where it goes, and if it's by the sea, we may catch it by taking a fast boat and having someone sail us to the location."

After looking out for other prints, Karak comes back to the initial footprints kneels by the strange marks on the ground.

"Damn I should have see that earlier.", he swears.

Standing back up, he turns to his first. "Sorry Ma'am, I missed that the first time. There are wyvern tracks just here. This likely means our target has use one as a mount to fly away. That means we are looking for a wyvern using mage. If this is the case, some one must have seen something. Even in the darkest night, you don't hide a wyvern landing and flying off."

Aurelia nods at Mylivanni, trying to determine how or does Nagaji look pale.

"Sir, we will try to pursue the trail that we found if we can. The time might be running out for the boy. Is there anything else we should know about the family? Do we know the boy's name? While we are searching, someone should talk to the neighbors in case they can give us some clues. But since the time might be essential here, if we do not find a trail, we well come back to help with canvasing the area and interviews."

Turning to Karak, Aurelia says:
"Take us to where you found the trail and let's see if we can find where it continues from there. If she was carrying the boy, she must have left some more traces in the vicinity."

That poor boy. But this is the best way to help him. Too bad we don't have a hound to help us with tracking...

"It's down behind the shop, Ma'am. But I fear we will not find much more unless she decided to keep to the back alleys. If the just steps into a busy street, we'll likely loose the track."

Without any more comments, the sturdy white hobgoblin leads the cohort to the tracks he found.

"Here it is. small prints, slightly crackled a the sides and about a fifth of an inch deeper than they should be."

With caution, Karak starts from the tracks he found, trying to guess where she would move to keep out of sight and to find tracks confirming his ideas.

Survival check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25, +2 if human,
Sense motive 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12, +2 if human

After inspecting the doors, windows and roof, Karak eventually exits the shop and focuses on the ground around the shop. After an hour, in a recluded spot behind, he stops, kneeling down and peering at the ground for a few minutes.

Jumping to his feet without disturbing the prints, he runs back inside, looking for his commander.

"Ma'am, I've found where she left. She was carrying something with her, it must be the young boy body, dead or alive."

Male Noble Hobgoblin Spell less ranger

"Will do, First."

Karak will look at all possible entrances and exits (widows, roof, doors) and at the first floor, to determine how the perpetrator came in and expecially how she left. He will also go out and all around the house if necessary to find possible tracks.

Take 20 on survival again for 27 or 29 if she is human.

Male Noble Hobgoblin Spell less ranger

"Permission to go and inspect the tracks, Sir?", and without waiting for the reply, he joins Rauvda near the bodies and bends over to try to read how things happended in this bloody mess.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8, add 2 if human
Survival to read tracks: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15, add 2 if human

Forget that, we've got time. So I'll take a 20 on survival for 27 or 29 result if possible

Karak finish emptying his stomach, trying to glare at the Crimson Guard soldiers and defy them to comment:intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Eventually, he manages to calm his spasms and, after rincing his mouth with water, he moves back insideFort save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

"Sorry Sir," he says to the second. "This was far worse than expected."

Male Noble Hobgoblin Spell less ranger

Smelling the fear on the crimson squad, he steels himself against what he could find when he enters the room. But it is not enough to stand the horror and the smell of entrails.

will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Paler than ever, he staggers forwards, trying to lean on a wall to regain his balance.

Last of the squad, Karak stands tall in his newly made black armor, custom made to fit his wide shoulders. At least in the squad, I do not stand out as much, he thinks, approaching the house guarded by the crimsom squads.

With a long sword and a spiked shield on his back and two well oiled black whips with barbed ends and his white hairless hobgoblin face and red eyes, he looks more like a slave master than a proper soldier. However, he moves with a military poise always in step with those next to him.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 2 = 17

A few quick words:

I agree Aurelia should be squad leader. For second, either Graelem or Amira sound fine to me.

I also agree with the CLW. Karak will contribute 100 GP to it if necessary.

Graelem/Eric, on the plus side, from what Nightflyer said, you should still be able to convert your spells to inflict/cure as you do not take the negative aspects of the archetypes.

One last point, I will be off the net for the whole next week starting tonight. Just don't kill me before I enter the game :)....

Karak is ready with light background and equipment.
