Now they need to make token packs for wild, xia, and for some of these newer creatures like tanukis

Thanks for the reply

Cavalier pledges say that pledging to certain orders could grant you access to different companions. The different druid orders specifically grant access to companions. So if I do cavalier as flame order in a non-druid class can I get a fire elemental as a mount considering these requirements?

*

Bestiary 2 uncommon weapon access. So Shears, Gaff and Rhonka Sword. Shears might be the only one that needs it at this point.

I played mark of the mantis and it says that we should be able to get a boon called Mantis Devotee but I don't see it in the list of booms. How do I get this one?

Looking for 1 or 2 new players for our online tabletop gaming group. We use Discord and Fantasy Grounds, I have Ultimate so it's free for you.

We just got finished playing the entire Dragonlance campaign from ADND in fantasy grounds. I am currently going to be running PF2 Extinction Curse, the whole thing is pretty much guaranteed to be finished as we've been playing online regularly since 2014 and I have a solid core of 4 players.

Send me a DM and I can give further details.

Game is tuesdays on 5pm pst and we play for 3-4 hours. We have players in the east coast. We haven't started this campaign yet.

Been on terrible shifts forever finally on something normal, looking for people to game with. Anyone here? I'm at the edge of the city north off 95.

Going off the character concept above i think a Sauran Shaman druid is a better summoner. You can build a similar character. However the feats that you would need as a druid to benefit wildshape makes it not worth it to me.

So i'm thinking...

Demodand spawn (RP reasons for me, trying to find an interesting build for this race)

Druid 1-5 (5th required for totemic summoning)
Animal domain

Abilities 15/14/16/10/16/7 (pfs 20 pt buy)
Traits: Defensive Strategiest (worship Torag) Reactionary (+2 total init)

Druid 1-5 (animal domain)
Feats:
1: Warrior Priest
3: Power Attack
5: Combat Reflexes

Hellknight Signifer 6- (order of the pyre for Glaive)
7: Spell Focus Conjuration
9: Augment Summoning
11: Superior Summoning
13: Boon Companion or Quicken Spell
15: Boon Companion or Quicken Spell

Why?:
There are a ton of dinosaur summons available making the saurian shaman, seemingly, a more powerful summoner than a Cleric with Sacred Summons. All these dinosaurs I can apply an advanced or giant or both template to them and summon them as a standard action. It would at the very least be more useful through more of the game rather than having sacred summons only for certain summon monster levels.

If I were using wildshape I would have to take spellcasting feats and other feats to allow for this to work so I might as well take another class. Hellknight Signifier provides some bonuses since I don't intend to use wildshape and it enhances my domain powers per level allowing me to have a decent level animal companion.

Is there any other PRC I should consider instead or added on? Should I go straight druid?

With flurry of blows it says it works like two weapon fighting except you can use it with a single weapon, where you get another attack at -2. Does this scale with a multiclass character.

Say I have 1 lvl monk and 6 levels fighter (bringing BAB up to 6 and another attack) would I then have (without ability modifiers) a 4/4/-1 attack bonus with a monk weapon? (another class like cleric would be 2/2)

This is how I always thought it would work, just would not get the additional flurry of blows attack when it is upgraded. Just want to make sure i'm right.

My work schedule just changed so now I work thurs-sun graveyard shift (also ending my life, lol). Because of this I can play all night monday tuesday or wednesday. Anyone have a group that plays on those days?

I'm in pacific time zone.

Found this thread and had another alternative idea probably worthy of a bump since I want to get input on it.

Aasimar obviously.

Sohei Monk (only monk with all martial weapon prof)

Crossblooded Sorcerer (Empyreal/Dragon)

EK 3

DD 4

EK -> 10

You are probably not going to be using armor so why not let your caster trait add to your AC?

You would only lose 3 caster levels, make up 2 for spell effective level with magical knack.

You have +4 str
+3 natural armor (1 from bloodline 2 from DD)
+ac from Wisdom

Seems like you could you also use a weapon like a temple sword and have flurry of blows to get an additional attack.

Seem really powerful to me on paper.

In PFS you would probably have starting stats of like:
16 STR
12 DEX (or 14 dex)
14 CON (or 12 con)
12 INT
16 WIS
9 CHA

or

16 STR
12 DEX
12 CON
10 INT
18 WIS
9 CHA

I think the first stat set would be better but would 14 be better for con or dex for a class like this? I'm thinking CON.

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

If you have ride by attack and your mount has spring attack can you do a ride by attack while the mount attacks?

Quote:
Your mount acts on your initiative count as you direct it. You move at its speed, but the mount uses its action to move.

So if the mount moves at regular speed I can take a full round action? However it doesn't say if on a charge if it uses the mounts actions or yours. However it does say:

Quote:
If your mount charges

Implying the mount is the one charging. Which means spring attack, which isn't a charge, wouldn't work. However does this not mean that if the mount is charging that it gets the bonus from ride by attack?

I just want to make sure i'm right.

If this is the case and you can't get an animal to attack with ride by attack ride by attack seems useless if you have a powerful type of animal companion (ie. a dinosaur) and that you should pursue the overrun feat tree instead. Or is there another, better, alternative?

Seem that human and pure druid would work out better.

I would get the same feats and wouldn't need boon companion and take the weapon prof in lance instead.

i realize this would be a large long creature now so small character probably would have no advantages really

Level 12 (eventually, this is a PFS build)

Druid 10 (Saurian Shaman)/Sohei Monk 2
Demodand Tiefling

16/10/12/10/18/8

Traits:
Horselord (+2 ride)
Rider of Paresh (+10 mount speed on charge)

Level 1-6: Druid
Feats 1: Spell Focus Conjuration, Stegosaurus companion
Lvl2: Saurian's Scales (+2 Natural AC)
3: Augment Summoning
6: Boon Companion
Level 7-8: Sohei
(animal companion becomes large and rideable)
Feat 7: Mounted Combat
Feat 8: Ride By Attack
Level 9-20 Druid
Feat 9: Spirited Charge
Feat 12: Wheeling Charge

Animal Companion feats/abilities:
Skills
Perception 1 (+5 total)
Survival (to pair with scent): 9 (+10 total)
Tricks:
Combat Riding, Airwalk, Hunting, Stay
Feats: Power Attack, Armor Prof (light), Power Attack, Spell Sponge, Toughness.

Basically my plan is to use the Totem Summoning to summon dinosaurs then do charge attacks as a mounted combat character.

Questions:
Is this a good build or is just having companions and being a caster/wildshape druid better? I understand riding can be situational.

With ride by attack can the animal also attack on a ride by?

Would this build be better as a small character with a medium mount so I don't take up ten foot squares? (would take a different companion)

Quandary wrote:

It can't see enemies while it is in a square[cube] of earth, so it would rely on heavily penalized Perception checks to Pin-Point enemies, and if it can Pin-Point them, those attacks would be at 50% Miss Chance for Full Concealment (reducable via Blind-Fight, although that doesn't address the Perception check itself) if it attacks from within the earth.

Anybody else can freely see what square[cube] attacks are coming from, so unless it moves after the attack(s) that is still accurate for it's location. Even if it doesn't attack, everybody is still entitled to Perception checks with equivalent penalties to notice/Pin-Point the Elemental's location underground/in the walls.

It has Total Cover there from non-Earth Gliders (or also vs. Earth Gliders?), and can't be targetted by spells other than area spells that affect the earth. So there are very strong aspects, but with limitations such that you will often want to discard those in order to be more effective. Also, while it is in the earth, it will be very difficult to communicate with it (I believe the Arcane Cantrip "Message" would not work, although Telepathy would), never mind that it can barely Perceive anything itself.

Spring Attack might be desirable, although anybody can Ready attacks for when it appears outside the earth. There is a Feat "Strike Back" that also allows Readying attacks vs. enemies outside of your Reach, which seems like it would also apply to Elementals attacking from within a square[cube] of earth.

I probably missed something else... ;-)

As far as it being able to see targets it does have tremorsense, idk if you were taking that into consideration:

A creature with tremorsense is sensitive to vibrations in the ground and can automatically pinpoint the location of anything that is in contact with the ground. Aquatic creatures with tremorsense can also sense the location of creatures moving through water. The ability’s range is specified in the creature’s descriptive text.

Unfortunately i don't think it can take feats that elemetals don't get be default because it says it replaces divine bond .

Friend is playing as a Stonelord paladin.

Basically we are trying to figure out how burrow works in terms of attacks, especially with regard to earth glide.

We are under the assumption it can pretty much attack while burrowing and nobody will know where it is. So how can enemies attack it? With weapons or spells?

Looking for a catfolk boon, pm me and i'll see if I have anything you want.

Does the target on the other side of a character get a bonus to AC like from cover from a reach attack?

So a friend of mine is building a reach character in the game and there is this feat I saw a while back that when someone makes an AoO it immediately stops the attacked creature in it's place. Anyone know what this feat was called? Can'd find it....

NVM it was stand still and for adjacent squares....

Any reason to take Use Magical Device as an oracle since i'm already a spellcaster? Having such high CHA it is tempting...

Character is a warrior build.

Currently have knowledge relgion, diplomacy and spellcraft if I dont take UMD i'll probably take acrobatics.

This is a PFS character. I'm mostly a newb so i'm curious if my concept for a build is good or not. Also debating if I should go pure oracle or dip into fighter.

Want to be a melee oracle and self+allies buffer.

Race Angelkin Aasimar

Starting stats:

18 str
10 dex
14 con
10 int
8 wis
17 cha

By level 9
Fighter 2 Oracle 7
+2 cha

Traits: Dangerously Curious (UMD), Fate's Favored (for Divine Power and spells like that)

Feats: Extend Spell, Power Attack, Furious Focus, Quicken Spell, Cleave, Shield of Swings, Lunge

Mysteries:
Dance of Blades, Armor Mastery, Iron Constitution

The mysteries other than Dance of Blades and Armor Mastery's medium armor speed don't seem really good. If i'm going single class i'm dropping armor mastery or iron constitution for skill at arms.

Skills: UMD (17 by 9), Know Religion, Spellcraft, Diplomacy (taking the skill hits on dip so 5 by lvl 9)

For weapon i'm going Falchion and wont be taking feats for that until later.

If i'm going pure oracle I would be down 2 feats, in this case i'm considering dropping Quicken Spell and Lunge.

Spells (other than cures and metal oracle spells)
1 Divine Favor, shield of faith, bless, burning disarm, comprehend languages
2 blessing of courage and life, grace, sound burst
3 animate dead, prayer

edit: i probably should take quicken spell later and replace it with something since it's useless right now....

Monk, sensei archetype lets you use wisdom to hit for your unarmed strikes.

Well my intent is that it be PFS legal. For example Guided is not since it's a 3.5ed ability

Nature Shaman [ACG] swaps wisdom for dexterity in AC.

Where is this? Now sure what ACG is.

Advanced class guide playtest i'm guessing.

Is there any class or feat abilities other than monk's that let you add a wis bonus to AC or exchange dex for wis bonus? Or maybe wis to hit kind of like how zen archery was in 3e? Aside from monk abilities of course.

awesome, both are great choices thank you.

If I were to take the animal ally feat, gaining an animal companion, as a non-druid i don't get magic fang to give it a +1 weapon. Can you enhance an animal companions natural attacks in some other way?

I recall in DND you could buy an item that could be enchanted with +1 (or other weapon enchantments) to give the bonus, does such a thing exist in pathfinder?

I've tried searching for it but I only get irrelevant results.

Thanks
