High energy capacitors make a whining sound when discharging at the location of discharge. Its probably not overly quiet but not louder than a cough but it would be louder where it hit I'd think. Keep in mind, this is Sci-fi guys.
Thanks J4RH34D, I didn't know that. I've been pecking away at this for a week now and just thought to get it out there. If there are any mistakes let me know and I'll fix it on the master sheets

Made something to keep track of all the book keeping for making a starship's character sheet. Feel free to make use of it:

I've been running with the concept that a basic battery (20 charges) is at 100%. This sniper rifle with 10 charges shoots 1 charge per shot (10%). So if you use a "generic battery #9" in this gun you still only get 10 shots because basic battery = basic battery. The super battery is 30 charges I think right? So being 50% more, you basically end up with 5 more shots. This is just the round about way of saying count your battery as being half as big.

Something else to consider, what is the purpose of the Solarian class? Having CHA as it's primary stats doesn't mean you need to max it. If you are going gung ho melee beat down build, then maxing CHA isn't really needed. If you want to embrace the utility built into it's design and be more than a one-trick pony, CHA is worth a build for your abilities. Simply put, what are you trying to do with the class and why?
Side note, if min/maxing is your end goal of playing Starfinder (or even pathfinder) you're missing out on a great deal of fun.
So reading through the book, I'm building a nifty homespun google sheet and I've noticed you can basically have as many security upgrades to your ship as you can afford? Anyone else thinking a racer with 20 automated heavy plasma weapons on it would be entertaining to have as a mechanic's drone?

Should it make it into print, it would be broken into several volumes with one dedicated solely to the planes, another dedicated to making magic, and 1 or 2 as a universal spell book. Ideally it would take the planes, the main ones, and hammer them out. I really love the "this is the explorer encyclopedia" idea. Gives it a fun feel to the idea. Not as much as you think. If I go ahead with this, I'll apply for a compatibility license so I can use their proprietary stuff, but most of this is covered in the OGL anyway as it is core related material. It's the fringe stuff like expanded class and spell stuff that isn't.

That would be the idea. It would include expanded rules for the making of items and spells, so if you want to a flying widget that runs on laughter you can.
So I'm thinking on getting people together to build a magical compendium. Basically it would include info on the different planes, the "science" of magic both divine and arcane, info on familiars/companions, magic spells and items and such.
The idea is it would be something drawing primarily from already established sources from paizo and expanding on it in most cases. Is this something y'all would like?
The slotted skills are an interesting idea, but honestly I think they should make three types of slots for combat slots, non combat slots, and passive slots. Non combat slots would mostly be skills and buff effects and passive slots are no brainers. Combat slots would over-ride the non-combat ones while in combat. Anyone have a link to this slot reference you guys keep making? I just started following on here and would love to see some of the dev released info.
I see what you are saying Uthreth. My suggestion would be diminishing returns. Set up skills and the like in groups and say as a fighter you are leveling up craft weapons and intimidate, you would be able to do so at a much higher rate than say spell craft. Its the old "cross class" skill concept from forever ago. As for stats, I think it really should be level based. If you have 4 Levels Wizard, that should equate to the same bonuses from that class regardless of other classes. Like Soldack said, mix spell casting and sword play is fine, just don't expect to go toe-to-toe with a true wizard or fighter. Multiclassing has always been a double edged sword in the pen-and-paper world.
I think they are much more likely to include flying mounts instead of giving innate flight. Flight is a big part of the tactical conventions in PO, so it makes sense to see it in PFO. As for griefing, keep in mind that for every person who snipes or griefs, you can just as easily slip on a ring of flight or jump onto a flying mount and down your prey. Also keep in mind the mechanics of flight. Every time you take damage you run a 5% chance of getting jacked up. A halfling with a sling becomes very dangerous.
One thing I would rather like to see about alignment is the "slippery slope effect" much like you have seen in KotOR and other Star Wars games. Take on a quest with multiple endings and how you complete it gives you advancement either on the chaos/law axis and/or the good/evil axis.
Say your quest is to stop a band of goblins raid a town. You go in and kill a few and the chief surrenders. If you kill him you get evil points, if you accept his surrender you get chaos points.
Then you add to it the social aspect. If you are hard core Good and in an Evil town, merchants will jack up prices and NPC won't offer quests or decent ones where as in a Good settlement they will give you a small break and be more inclined to offer you work.
Being Neutral would be tricky... it would mean balancing Good and Evil with Law and Chaos on a very fine line.
