Hello everybody, i know there have been tons of topics and questions about this specific topic, i will try to summarize most of the possible conditions in a more general form with examples.

1. Disbelieve Shadow Evocation, so the wording on the spell i think is ambigious on the 2 points below :
-"If the disbelieved attack has a special effect other than damage, that effect is one-fifth as strong (if applicable) or only 20% likely to occur."
-"Non-damaging effects have normal effects except against those who disbelieve them. Against disbelievers, they have no effect."
So what exactly is considered as a special effect? A disbeliever on Shadow Evocation (Resilient Sphere) automatically passes through it or the Sphere has 20% chance to actually work?

2. Attacking with Melee Weapon a Shadow Evocation (Resilint Sphere).
So the weapon is considered an object but a creature holds it in hand, so does the weapon automatically succeeds the Check (as for being an object) or because is being held by a creature, a Will Save is needed?

3. Attacking with Ranged Weapon a Shadow Evocation (Resilint Sphere).
Slightly the same as question (2), but this time you do not "hold" the object, but its you who actually force it's movement.

4. Are Rays and generally "magically throwing stuff" considered objects?
So as the questions describes, are Rays, Magic Missiles, Fireball's beads and so on actually considered as objects for these purposes?

5. Attacking through your own Shadowly Resilient Sphere, how it affects the enemy
So as the Wizard was the one who casted the Spell, he has proof that is an Illusion and needs no Saving Throw for it and casts spells right through the Sphere.
But how does that affect an enemy watching it? does he automatically also gets proof that the Sphere is an Illusion and on his next attempts automatically succeeds a Saving Throw?
Does he get a new Saving Throw if he failed the first one now that he sees someone/something actually going throught the Sphere?
Considering the enemy is also a Caster and not a Barbarian that has no clue over Magic.

6. It's an invisible barrier after all
Resilient Sphere works like Wall of Force and Wall of Force states :
"A wall of force creates an invisible wall of pure force."
So the scenario here is that you are now attacking someone that has Shadowly Resilient Sphere around him and you fail the Save and you have no means of seeing Invisible stuff (with See Invisibility, True Seeing etc..).
If you can't actually see the boundaries of this Resilient Sphere, how can you possibly know if there was something there to block the enemy's (the one inside the sphere) arrow or Ray, considering you can't see Invisible stuff?
With that in hand, how does this affect my question (5) above?

7. Spellcraft Checks to recognise the Spell
So if someone casts Shadow Evocation near you and you successfully recognise the Spell being cast as Shadow Evocation, should you also know which Evocation Spell he is casting using the Shadow Evocation?
And how does recognising Illusion Spells with Spellcraft Check affects the following Will Save in general?

8. Counterspelling with Shadow Evocation
Can you actually counterspell all 4th and below Evocation Spells by using Shadow Evocation?

9. The feet are hanging out!?
The way I understand Resilient Sphere is that it encloses someone inside in a way that he is protected from all directions, but if the Caster uses it on himself, and he automatically disbelieves it, so how can he actually stand on it? It should be a thin layer of force which barely touches the ground, but still, should it be visible that he is touching the ground and not the Sphere? Considering of course you are able to see Invisible stuff.

I am getting my wizard to level 15 and thinking in place of a Bonus Feat to add and Arcane Discovery.

Tho I am trying to figure out how it actually works with only one round in hand. It sais :

You can briefly step out of time, pausing the world around you. This ability acts as the time stop spell, except that you gain only 1 round of apparent time. You can use this ability once per day plus one additional time for every 5 wizard levels you possess beyond 10th.

So lets make that scenario here.
1) Your turn comes and you decide to use this ability
2) You use it as a standard action(?) since spell states that this ability acts like time stop.
3) So now you have one round free to act as you wish
4) Lets say you cast a buff and then make a move action
5) Time Stutter ends and you basically can make one more Move Action since its still your turn.

So after all this, you basically end up having one extra Move Action? Am i getting this right?

Hello everyone,
I am playing an Illusionist Wizard and as we go to higher level (14) things get a bit complicated.

1) Can i have multiple spells that require concentration active? what i mean is NOT to concentrate on a spell and cast another one, but rather use the extra rounds that Illusion school gives me on concentration spells (Extended Illusions). So lets say i cast a Major Image, let it follow a script while i cast another one on the next round do some other stuff and confuse enemies on the battlefield.

2) Some spells (like Persistent Image) say that the illusion follows a script. What exactly indicate a script for this matter? Can i write down like 100 different scenarios of how the illusion would react to different conditions like a code?

3) Can someone with See Invisibility actually see that you are invisible? or does he just see you like he would normally do if you were not Invisible?
Lets say a wizard is invisible an has an Illusion of himself roaming around, can someone with See Invisibility that sees both the wizard and his Illusion, can he actually see that this one is Invisible but I can see him so the other one is an illusion?
Basically as we go to higher level, Invisibilty starts getting pushed aside as almost everyone has See Invisibility (level 2 spell), but its still nice to have just in case someone can't see you, but if that messes up with the illusions you create as a distraction, then its only making things worse.

4) Can you create an Invisible Illusion? create an illusion with ex. Major Image that it would only be visible to people with See Invisibilty

5) I got randomly teleported to the Earth Plane by Prismatic Spray, but i had no Plane Shift. Is it legit to cast Banishment/Dismissal on myself to return back to the Material Plane?

6) Ready Action - Cast Wish/Limited Wish
Can you ready action to cast Wish/Limited Wish and decide which spell to duplicate or what effect to make by the time it triggers? or do you have to specify it when you ready the action?

7) Counterspell - Wish/Limited Wish
Can you counterspell with Wish/Limited Wish? and what could you possible counterspell with it? except the same spell of course...


Hello everyone, i got a few questions that i can't seem to find answers that are both written clearly and be logical at the same time. So:

1) Can you Ready Action to cast a spell, without defining which spell, on specific conditions?
ex. Wizard "A" readies an action to cast a spell on Wizard "B" when wizard "B" starts casting a spell. Does Wizard "A" has to specify which spell exacly he will cast at the time he readies the action? this is the same as counterspell in a way, when you make a counterspell ready action but you don't know what spell your opponent is going to cast so you cast whichever spell it is needed.

2) Can you counterspell a quickened spell?
I ask this because it seems natural for a quicken spell being non counterable since one can cast it faster than the other, same as casting quicken spell which does not provoke AoO.

3) If a character makes a Ready action and the condition he specifies is triggered, is he commited to do the action to matter what or can he choose to pass?
ex. Wizard "A" readies a counterspell on Wizard "B". Wizard "B" starts casting a quicken spell which Wizard "A" is not intersted of countering (if he can anyway), can Wizard "A" keep readying to action for the next spell he will cast as a Standard Action or is he committed to counter the first spell Wizard "B" will cast no matter what?

I wanted to ask what happens when you cast these type of spells such as Limited Wish and determining which Spell to cast.

Example :
Lets say Wizard with Opposed school Transmutation wants to cast a Transmuation spell of another Class. His maximum allowed level from Limited Wish should be 4 as noted bellow :
"Duplicate any non-sorcerer/wizard spell of 4th level or lower, even if it belongs to one of your opposition schools."

Lets take Reincarnate spell as an example : Level 4 Druid/Shaman, Level 5 Witch.
If it was only Witch spell he wouldn't be allowed to cast it due to insufficient level, but if he chooses the Druid/Shaman version then he can cast it.

I wanted to ask what happens in these situations where a spell has different spell level on different classes.

I was thinking of creating a new spell for my Illusionist wizard.
So here is the Spell:

Shadow Redirection

School: Illusion(shadow), Sorceror/Wizard(Level ?)

Casting Time : 1 Immediate Action
Components : V,S,F (a mirrored cylinder)
Range : Close(25+ 5ft/2lvl)
Target : 1 Creature or Object
Duration : Instantaneous
Saving Throw : None; see text, Spell Resistance: Yes; See Text.

Using some sort of "portal" from the Shadow Plane (which is reflection of the Material Plane in a way) you can as an immediate action, redirect a Projectile(arrow, javelin etc) or a Ray targeting you, to any creature or object within the spell range. The original attacker must succeed on an Attack Roll on the new target with his/her AC/Touch AC.
If the original attack allows a saving throw, the new target of the Shadow Redirection also receives that Saving Throw. Regardless if the original attack/spell allows Spell Resistance, creatures targeted from Shadow Redirection are allowed Spell Resistance.

I would appreciate some opinions on this spell as well as ideas about what level should this spell be. I was think of it being somewhere between 4-5lvl maybe even 6 considering its Immediate Action.


"Check spell resistance only once for any particular casting of a spell or use of a spell-like ability. If spell resistance fails the first time, it fails each time the creature encounters that same casting of the spell. Likewise, if the spell resistance succeeds the first time, it always succeeds."

This particular paragraph from Core Rulebook page 565 really confuses me.
So lets say I cast fireball on someone with spell resistance, and I fail to overcome it, so does this mean that he is immune to fireball forever from now on or that my fireballs cast on him will auto fail?


Deepsight increases someone's Darkvision from 60ft. to 120ft.
Could someone actually take this feat if he has permanent darkvision casted upon himself?
is that considered meeting the prerequisites?

I understand that this might sound stupid, but if someone actually has Darkvision casted upon himself for a very long time, lets say for 2 levels, its actually like these whole 2 levels he is being preparing for Deepsight feat to increase his Darkvision...


Hello everybody, just got my illusionist wizard to 13 and its really hard to decide which spells to use...

So was thinking about project image but there are some things that seem tricky in terms of mechanics. I know there are some other topics about this specific spell but i can't seem to find all the answers i need so i will try to gather them all here

So i have these following questions:

1)When i use my image to cast a spell for me, do i have to use somatic/verbal components my self or i am just concentrating on the image to do so? like what happens if i am grappled?

2)There is a line where it says "The projected image can't cast any spells on itself except for illusion spells".
This means that the image can cast a spell completely by itself as an independent (if is an illusion) while i cast another spell too in the same round? if yes, do i need to spend a move action to do so like it says here: "The projected image mimics your actions (including speech) unless you direct it to act differently (which is a move action)."?

3)Can the image be destroyed by attack or spells? if yes, what is his HP/AC?


We had some big issues at last night's session with our rogue, so here is the situation...

We had a fight and in the middle of the fight rogue was left with very low hp, so he decided to use retreat, hides himself behind a wall that provided him total cover and heal himself for 2 rounds with wand. After that rogue joins again the battle and he wanted to come out and throw a javelin to a target...

The question is, could the rogue move using stealth skill to pop-out unnoticed so his attack could result in sneak attack against a target?

PS.Of course the target was within his 30ft to sneak attack and just had to barely show himself in the egde of the wall where he would have cover and not walk into the room completely...
