GMing a game with a theater performance and the PCs are in the audience. A player casts Daze on one of the actors on stage to hinder their performance. The actor fails their save.

Considering this was done during a portion of the performance in which the audience was noisy (laughing), I'm not sure who if anyone would get a chance to hear or see the spell being cast (V,S).

In a crowd of 100 people, how would you GM this?

Let it go?
Assume that 1-2 people saw the casting?
Roll a percentage for chance?

At first I was inclined to believe everyone would be watching the stage, however it's natural for people to look around every once in awhile.

Thanks

The Segang Expedition Levels 1-5 *CORE*

Rumors of a lost shrine in the Segang Jungle draw the Pathfinder Society’s attention, but the prohibitive cost of sending a team into the wilds of Jalmeray threatens to shut down the expedition before it even begins. Fortunately, a wealthy patron has offered to fund the PCs travel expenses in return for their help in his decades-old quest. Can the Pathfinders balance this new obligation with their exploration of the archaeological site? Written by Benjamin Bruck

In the naga-ruled nation of Nagajor in southern Tian Xia, the Pathfinder Society finds itself caught between feuding factions in a remote village. Murder's Mark a Core Campain for level 1 characters

An urban mystery adventure for 1st-level characters.Everyone in the fishing town of Ilsurian is excited when the legendary Umbra Carnival rolls into town—even if the show is run by members of the much-maligned Varisian ethnic group. With strange and exotic beasts, scandalous performances, games of chance, and all the other fun of a traveling fair, who could resist such an opportunity for entertainment?Unfortunately for both the town and the circus, however, entertainment isn’t the only opportunity the carnival presents. Hidden within Ilsurian, a guild of thieves and scoundrels has been waiting for just such an occasion to launch a campaign of theft and murder—leaving the strangers from the circus to take the blame. With tensions mounting between locals and performers, and the body count rising on both sides, it’s up to the PCs to uncover what’s really going on and clear the circus’s name before the entire town erupts in a firestorm of ethnic violence.

We Be Goblins!

A Pathfinder Society Module for 4 players using pre-generated Goblin characters. The credit for this game may be applied to a 1st or 2nd level character.

The Licktoad goblins of Brinestump Marsh have stumbled upon a great treasure—fireworks! Yet unfortunately for them, the tribe member responsible for the discovery has already been exiled for the abhorrent crime of writing (which every goblin knows steals words from your head). To remedy this situation, the Licktoads’ leader, His Mighty Girthness Chief Rendwattle Gutwad, has declared that the greatest heroes of the tribe must venture forth to retrieve the rest of the fireworks from a derelict ship stranded in the marsh.

Someone brought me the following argument...

Under Magic, it reads:

Caster Level... The word “level” in the short descriptions that follow always refers to caster level.

However, the short description doesn't use the word level. You've got to read the spell block to see that it has a duration of 1 minute/level (see below).

Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range personal
Target touch
Duration 1 minute/level (D)

So is the duration of this spell 1 minute per caster level or 1 minute per class level?

Thanks

I would like to know if pet feed needs to be on the inventory tracking sheets and chronicle sheets. Why?

A 400 lb large carnivore will eat 400 copper of feed per day. The PC takes a 104 day scenario so the carnivore needs 104(400) copper worth of feed.

So do pet animals need to be fed in Pathfinder Society play?

It's late here so allow me your patience...

A 2nd level character purchases a 6th level tiger for 500 gold and he can ride it as a mount and use it to attack (3 times) in combat?

I would appreciate directions to the appropriate references as I don't have the time to look this up right now.

Thank you all for any assistance.

Murder on the Throaty Mermaid

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.

While on a routine mission to escort a dignitary to the mysterious Mordant Spire aboard a disreputable smuggler's ship, the PCs find themselves embroiled in a murder mystery that could jeopardize the Pathfinder Society's relationship with the isolationist elves who call the citadel home. Can the cunning Pathfinders discover who among the ship's crew of scum and villains is responsible for the crime in time to clear their own names? This murder mystery upon the open sea features a mechanic allowing for a different killer each time it's run to ensure that no amount of word of mouth will spoil the investigation for any team of canny players.

Your mission takes you to the Taldan capital city of Oppara where the intricate web of political intrigue and ages-old religious conflicts threaten the Pathfinder Society’s presence in the land. Should be an easy Q... if a monsters attack reads as follows:

Longsword +4 (1d8+2), 2 Claws +4 (1d4+2)

What does the comma mean? One or the other? Both?

Thanks!

The Citadel of Flame
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.

Once the home to a cult preaching self-sacrifice by immolation in order to achieve paradise, the Citadel of Flame in Qadira's Meraz Desert was presumably wiped out decades ago after Sarenrae dervishes led a crusade to end its morbid message. An enormous sandstorm swallowed both the citadel and the army attacking it, burying both beneath hundreds of feet of sand. Thought lost forever, the citadel's rediscovery prompts the Pathfinder Society to send you deep in the unforgiving Meraz to finally close the book on Qadira's most mysterious cult.

An alchemist in the party today kept (accidentally) bombing the party. The way it was explained to me is that any time his bomb would miss it's target, I'd roll a d8 and the bomb would land in one of the 8 surrounding squares and deal splash damage from there.

So in Society play, PVP isn't allowed. How do I deal with accidental bombings (PVP)? Does the class really work like this?

Thanks.

Mists of Mwangi
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 1–5.

Pathfinder Lugizar Trantos recently returned from the Mwangi Expanse with haunted eyes and a pack full of strange idols. Absalom's famed Blakros Museum purchased his pieces and Lugizar vanished. The strange monkey idols he pulled from the misty jungles of Mwangi carry with them a fell curse, and now their power has laid claim to the museum. Can the Pathfinder Society uncover the source of the curse in time, or will the Blackros Museum be forever lost to the mists of Mwangi?

Focused Disciple: When weaker wills falter, you keep a clear mind. You gain a +2 trait bonus on saving throws against charm and compulsion effects.

1. If I walk into a room and have to make a will save against, oh I don't know, plunging a knife into my heart, is that a compulsion effect?

2. Is Fear (or running away) a compulsion effect?

3. Is staring at the colors of Color Spray a compulsion effect?

Thank you.

Let's say I wanted to make a Shadowdancer. Other qualifications aside, I'd like to ask about having ranks in Stealth.

"To qualify to become a shadowdancer, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.

Skills: Stealth 5 ranks, Perform (dance) 2 ranks."

Considering a core character with no special mechanics or tricks, what does it mean: a character must fulfill all the criteria?

Can I take Shadowdancer as my 5th character level with a 5th rank in Stealth thereby fulfilling the criteria? Or do I have to wait to take Shadowdancer as my 6th character level?

Cleric spells go back and forth between Caster Level, Cleric Level, and just Level. So which domain spells does the Beacon of Faith trait apply to?

Beacon of Faith: You wield the might of your faith with power and clarity. Once per day as a free action, you may treat your caster level as if it were 2 levels higher when using one of the granted powers of your domain or inquisition, or when casting one of your domain spells.

Examples:

SEARING LIGHT
Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
A creature struck by this ray of light takes 1d8 points of damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d8).

SHIELD OF FAITH
Duration 1 min./level
The spell grants the subject a +2 deflection bonus to AC, with an additional +1 to the bonus for every six levels you have (maximum +5 deflection bonus at 18th level).

SUN'S BLESSING
Whenever you channel positive energy to harm undead creatures, add your cleric level to the damage dealt. Undead do not add their channel resistance to their saves when you channel positive energy.

Are Caster Levels, Cleric Levels, and Levels the same?

Magic Stone has a +1 enhancement bonus which doesn't sound magic but the spell itself is called Magic Stone so... can this be used against a Shadow for example?

If my 1st PFS character was killed and I create a 2nd...

Can the 2nd character eventually gain 25,000 gold to buy diamond dust for a Cleric to cast True Resurrection on the remains of my 1st character?

It says the remains can be 10 years old per caster level. Is this legal in PFS? Like, once my 1st character is revived, does he get his PFS#-1 back and can he pick up where he left off?

  • Halflings treat any weapon with Halfling as a martial weapon.
  • Rogues are not proficient with most martial weapons.
  • Halflings are proficient with Slings. (not sure why it's plural)

So is the Halfling Sling staff considered a SLING or is it considered specifically a Halfling Sling Staff (and not a sling)?

Hello!

I've just played my first two games this past weekend at a convention and I want to keep playing. I've read about VTT's but have never used one. So, I am looking for a game that will allow:

-A player who is new to Pathfinder
-A player who has never played online
-A first level character

I'm available to play:
Monday - Thursday 6:00p - 11:00p (eastern GMT-5)
Sunday 10:00a - 4:00p (eastern GMT-5)

I'll check for PMs or replies.

Other info:

I'm an adult with a microphone and a high-speed connection.
I enjoy roleplaying and don't care to metagame or min/max.

Think that's about it but I'll answer any other questions by PM.

Thanks!
