My backer book arrived on Friday, spent all weekend (except mandated family religious celebration) reading and absorbing. Already have several character ideas in play, and modifications to other to bring in line with some of variants listed here. Very happy with how this book turned out, it was well worth the investment. Bravo, Wolfgang and team.
IT IS THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME, NOT THE LETTER OF THE RULES, WHICH IS IMPORTANT. NEVER HOLD TO THE LETTER WRITTEN, NOR ALLOW SOME BARRACKS
ROOM LAWYER TO FORCE QUOTATIONS FROM THE RULE BOOK UPON YOU, IF IT GOES AGAINST THE OBVIOUS INTENT OF THE GAME. AS YOU HEW THE LINE
WITH RESPECT TO CONFORMITY TO MAJOR SYSTEMS AND UNIFORMITY OF PLAY IN GENERAL, ALSO BE CERTAIN THE GAME IS MASTERED BY YOU AND NOT BY
YOUR PLAYERS. WITHIN THE BROAD PARAMETERS GIVEN IN THE ADVANCED DUNGEONS 8 DRAGONS VOLUMES, YOU ARE CREATOR AND FINAL ARBITER.
BY ORDERING THINGS AS THEY SHOULD BE, THE GAME AS A WHOLE FIRST, YOUR CAMPAIGN NEXT, AND YOUR PARTICIPANTS THEREAFTER, YOU WILL BE
PLAYING ADVANCED DUNGEONS 8 DRAGONS AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE. MAY YOU FIND AS MUCH PLEASURE IN SO DOING AS THE REST OF US DO!
Using 3.5 RSRD as the only source loaded, started brand new character. I still have Construct, Mindless, Ooze, and Undead templates being applied.

Oh I know it is ridiculous. The group I run has pushed me to keep going, I have had to recreate a 3.5 version of the Immortal rules from BCEMI days. So the characters are out there. Finally wearing them down after 25+ years of playing the characters to "retire" and start new ones under Pathfinder rules. Way less supplements, rulebooks, etc...
So yes I do understand the disbelief about the 68th level character.

David - I emailed those files to you.
It doesn't matter what I do now, it always applied those templates to any character, new or old.
David R. Bender - PCGen Monkey wrote: Please send me a character file (xxx.pcg) and I will take a look at that file. I will be able to perhaps give you some clues, but without detailed instructions on what is going on, I am afraid that I might not be able to help.
Also, do you have an error log? (pf10)
Please send both (log and .pcg) to

How do you add/edit a template now? Older versions I could edit the lst from inside PCGen. I no longer see how I can edit the data?
Fixed it by editing the .pcg file. I just don't know how it got applied.
There is no error log that I can find. Where would that be located at?
I am on a Windows system.

1) What data sets are you loading?
2) Exact instructions on what you are doing.
3) Are these templates ones that you have created, or are they ones in the data sets?
-- david Actually using 3.5 mode, changed preferences to load sources with character. Character loads using the sources that we own, (all of them are included in the default set of sources), and the templates are the ones in the data sets. I get an error when I try to remove the template that it is not allowed?

Where do you stand with this, Sir Hexen?
X2 Castle Amber - the group liked it so much, that we generated an entire campaign world out of the module. We use it to this day for our political games (Game of Houses).
Desert of Desolation (I3-6?) - Again another series that the group liked so much that it became our main campaign world that we continue to use to this day.

Been playing my mash-up of 1e/2e for years... I was hiding under a rock for many years and didn't even know about 3.x till about 3-4 months before they were announced 4e was coming out. My group still plays my 2e game now and again, Pathfinder, and 3.x games. I am much more freeform, and we mix things together and use what works for us, and toss what doesn't.

Nerik will attempt to identify any items that show magical again to try to figure out what the items are.
Other than that, he would like to request a nice suit of studded leather armour, short sword, and a hand axe to replace the items he currently has.
Happy Birthday, son. We love and miss you.
Male Human/Maelgrym Thief 22nd / Mage 24th
So there are no magical items for Nerik?
Male Human/Maelgrym Thief 22nd / Mage 24th
Nerik is following this path to encourage those who wish it a fast path to the void that Groetus holds for all. Nerik is a fairly screwed up individual as it is. Tiefling who is demon-spawn instead of devil, with the awakening of his undead sorcerous bloodline has some serious mental aftereffects.
Male Human/Maelgrym Thief 22nd / Mage 24th
Nerik is always willing to take something that is available.

I didn't fiddle with anything, just posted the update.

Fang,
Do you still have Nerik's character sheet?
I forgot that the characters are Gestalt, and I have no idea what increases he would get for level 2. Yeah, I have it. Do you need me to update Nerik?
If so, what ability do you want increased? What new feat? Same classes? If not, which classes? Wisdom
How many feats?
Same classes. 1 feat, unless you want one of the rogue talents that grants a feat, if so, which feat?
Do you have a specific cantrip you want to learn? Anything to focus on improving wisdom and perception since he sucks at it badly.

I don't have the statue, Milmek has it.
Nerik towers over the others, standing between 7' and 8' tall. His skin stretched taut over his bones, and extremely ghastly pale color as if he was a walking corpse. Sorry, didn't see a description of him, so went from the avatar, sorry. That's ok.

Sorry gang, I need to bow out. Feel free to use Dorin for an NPC.

Seekerofshadowlight, while initially onboard has had a scheduling issue and so he can't play in this game anymore. On a positive note however, Silus Gray and Rathendar have expressed interest in his place.
In Rathendar's case, he can't play on the 11th, he works the 11th/25th schedule on Sundays. So, if we want Rathendar to play, we'll need to switch out beginning date to July 18th instead and every other weekend thereafter.
Pygon, Guy Humual and Silus Gray are fine with that.
So Fatespinner and JonShade, I'll need to know if that works for you guys are not. However, since you guys got in on the game first I will stick to our current dates if you've already arranged matters with family or work or anything of that sort. So let me know and if it works out we'll have Rathendar as well.
That's fine with me. I don't have a problem with it being a later date.
Yasha wrote: Official Starting Date SET! July 11th, 2010.
4:00 PM Pacific Standard Time...to run till about 8 or 9PM. Perhaps a bit over.
Sunday's will be good since if we do have a combat or other situation that needs resolving...I can keep going a bit past 9pm if needed.
Current Roster:
-Barl Burlyfoot (Halfling Rogue 1 by Pygon)
-Dorin (Human Fighter 1 by JonShade)
-Izraphel Skyborne (Aasimar Druid 1 by Fatespinner)
-to be determined (by Seekerofshadowlight)
-to be determined (Witch? by Guy Humual)
How are we going to do this? Just TTOPRPG? or adding in Skype for voice?
Sorry for the threadjack, but speaking of Gestalt, anyone know of a chargen that supports it?
*Holds up more bottles of rum*
Here! not there!

Mike,
You need to register for PFS here on the site, when you buy the PFS modules you can run or play them. Vegas Game Day usually has one or two PFS games going, we are also doing some games at Action Comics [Free RPG Day] and Shop of Magic in Vegas here shortly if you wish to grab a game.
kessukoofah wrote: Sounds like a lot of fun! Be sure to keep us updated! (or me at least. I'm always curious to see how DMs spin their yarns.) I will be sure to let you know how things progress.
You're a gamer. You like to talk about gaming. Hell, you probably love telling other people about your gaming. Why not be constructive about it for once?
The Psychology Department at Middle Tennessee State University is conducting a Gamer Survey to determine how gaming and social development interact. Pitch in your two cents and pass it to anyone else that may be interested!
It's about time we told people that not all gamers are anti-social hermits . . . and the rest of them totally are. :-)
kessukoofah wrote: 0gre wrote: That sounds like more than one weekends worth of fun. Or just one really wacky adventure if he does it right. depends what he wants in the end i guess. It worked out well, Party thwarted a slaver raid on the outskirts of the town. After giving chase to the remaining slaver raiding party, they found a map hidden on inside skin of a bag from the slaver leader. It cryptically talks about some golden temple in the desert, that can only be seen during a certain time of year.
The "Circus" was in town, and the loins got loose in the marketplace. After capture and returning the loins to the "Circus", one of the party members got a bad vibe from the "Freak" show manager [who happens to look alot like Lurch from Addams Family] and began to follow him around.
Session ended on that note, so we will pick up next time.
Thanks for all of the great ideas, I am piecing together something that has a bit of everything that was suggested.
Keep wall tumbling down into the sand for a reveal,
Slavers / Nomad raids, Necro archelogist, Mystery maps to a location that appears at only certain times of year, Large bones, and Dire Lions.
